All good, except for the "social justice" part.

*”Magazine names Flaherty top finance chief”.

Who is “Flaherty”?

Is him from the Conservative Party of Canada?

Tried to find out by reading this*, but, …….?

But, this is up:

*”“Finance Minister of the Year, 2009.””

MSM denial: Conservative Party of Canada.

MSM denial runs to other words: Islam, Muslim, etc.

I would love to see the drywall around Ralph Goodale's kitchen table this morning after he reads that.

I bet there are more than a few fist sized holes.

heheheh

Congratulations indeed.

The little leprechaun has pissed away $170 billion in taxes not yet levied - in an opaque fashion using a non-equitable distribution mechanism.

The little feller ought to be a Librano.

This was brought up during QP today. Ignatieff replied along the lines that this group also picked Lehman Brothers for an award at one time,or something very close to that. To which our PMSH commented that it was too bad that the leader of the opposition is unable to recognize any accomplishments of Canadians.Ignatieff is not getting better,he is getting bitter.

Posted by: wallyj at October 6, 2009 2:34 PM

Clarification, the last line is mine ,not Mr. Harper's.

Posted by: wallyj at October 6, 2009 2:36 PM

Pretty impressive when named by your peers, most of whom tend to be tight with the money, even under great pressure. Good on ya Jimbo.

That award looks like a candy bowl that kids make in kindergarten.

Posted by: Woodporter at October 6, 2009 3:12 PM

Well, he wont be winning any award from his Ontario Conservative MPP wife who is apparently against his HST being forced on Ontario and with federal bribe money.

Iggy . . . learning how to be a politician by taking advice from his preferred political consigliere Kinsella.

Sharp move there Iggy.

Warnout was and remains a has been, so stuck on stupid he actually thinks he's important and people value his opinion. A legend in his own mind, which of course means a very, very, very small legend.

Good news that Iggy keeps wasting LPC money on such a political disaster. Just another liberal fart catcher who is only happy when he has a lip-lock on someone else's money.

I love it when liberal trolls complain about things like "...$170 billion in taxes not yet levied..." Its just too funny!

Especially considering the -only- reason Flaherty posted any "stimulus" at all is because Count Iggula and Smilin' Jack flat out told him they were going to bring down the government if he didn't.

But the funniest part is where Hardboiled and company think we might have forgotten that little detail. Y'all are a riot.

Posted by: The Phantom at October 6, 2009 3:38 PM

The finance minister, whose bailout money are now being buried in dirt all across Canada. Sorry to rain on your parade.

Posted by: Aaron at October 6, 2009 3:39 PM

I might be a little overly patient here, but I have to believe that Flaherty will change his tune in the next budget; there be a convention coming up in 2010 after all!

The Phantom,

I know it is absolutely beyond hilarity that by implementing Stimulus that the Libs called insufficient (not big enough) that the CPC and the Finance Minister personally gets blamed for the deficit it caused.

Liberals have no shame and no brains, had they been in power the deficit would have been double!

That is why the LPC is polling at 28%, not because of Iggy but because they are idiots in the policy arena, they cannot see that Canada is holding up well under the CPC who are talking Economy, Economy, Economy everyday and getting praise for it globally, while the Libs harp on Welfare and give-aways, communion wafers and calling for faster spending topped off with Environmental issues that nobody has any appetite for until the recovery is over.

How is that bringing down the Government thing working out for ya?

Clarification of Previous Post...

My question was for Liberals not for The Phantom, who i agree with.

Random thought patterns...

“A true leader praises his country … Three cheers for PM Harper

PM Stephen Harper capped his visit to the USA by lauding Canada’s economic smarts to a friendly business audience in Manhattan. He is so proud of his country and his countrymen, just like a true leader should be. What a difference between Obama and our PM !!

….”Despite the turbulence of recent months, Canadian banks are secure, our markets are expanding, our stimulus is working, our taxes are falling, our long-term fiscal position is solid,” Harper said in prepared remarks to the Canadian-American Business Council in New York.
“If we stay the course, Canada’s future has never looked so bright.”

Some in the U.S., where Canada has a reputation for understatement, might have been taken aback to hear Canada trumpeting its own triumphs – a fact not lost on the prime minister.

“Historically, we Canadians have been known as a polite, quiet and self-effacing people,” he said.
“But in my view – as you may have noticed – this is no time to hide our light under a bushel. A few months ago, The Economist magazine carried a headline calling Canada, quote, ‘A country that got things right.”

At the risk of sounding like Seinfeld mom, I will say: “What’s not to like about our PM Stephen Harper?”"

I ain't a librano dum dum, I am a conservative. Hence the small problem I have with the runt bringing a $170 billion in deferred taxation onto a shrinking demographic (your 15 year old kid). There is no exit from this, no budgetary changes nor anything but structural deficits to see for years.

All for what? 'Stimulus'? How is hiring more civil servants, and expanding the growth in government at more than 7% per year for the next 5 years going to do us any good? Infrastucture?

Why wasn't this 'stimulus' enabled through the municipal gas tax mechanism?

The same reason the Libranos stole $100 million from taxpayers: because they could.

Rising health care, and the inverted pear of demographics will ensure severe budgetary constraints over the next 10-20 years, likely impacting core funding.

The runt ain't conservative. That's the point.

Mindless partisanship is exactly that: mindless.

Besides - the Three Stooges were prorogued - they were outmaneuvered and couldn't do crap. This vote buying exercise is straight out of the Progressive Conservative Orchard/Prentice/Clark wing of the party.

You a fool.

Posted by: hardboiled at October 6, 2009 5:45 PM

Very true Phantasmo.

Someone SDA put it best when they said from the Liberal perspective the "Conservatives have spent too much money not fast enough".

OT/ Hardboiled is a "conservative" in the Ron Paul type of way.

Since you're a 'conservative' in the David Orchard/Joe Clark kinda way, I'll take that as a compliment.

Posted by: hardboiled at October 6, 2009 7:53 PM

Notice how little publicity our MSM has given to this award to Flaherty. It's almost impossible to find anything on it in our news.

Posted by: ET at October 6, 2009 8:22 PM

Hiding our light under a bushel: oh, oh, another reason for Liberals to despise us; the use of Christian Scripture as a parallelism.

Posted by: Larry Bennett at October 6, 2009 9:54 PM

Fred 3:33, LOL, I repeat LOL. You get the prize today.

Hey you guys above, quit arguing over who is the most conservative or "progressive" conservative. Unfortunately to have a chance at government, Harper has had to, how do I put it, accommodate some "progressive" thinking.

One should never mention Orchard and conservative in the same sentence.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at October 7, 2009 12:03 AM

Funny, I thought Orchard got his buddy Petey McKay into cabinet....
