Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. It has been said by some that the most difficult discs to jockey are those of stand-up comedy, because it is so easy for some to take offense. On the other hand, Oscar Wilde said that "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they will kill you". So, casting all caution to the wind, pace the risk, tonight, for your delectation, here is a medley of Mr. John Pinette performing his Stand-Up Comedy ¤, and Part II ¤. John's Get Out of the Line! sketch, in part two, is, I think, brilliant, and his whole nay, nay shtick in part one is delightful. You know why it has a safety bar? Because it's not safe!
Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.
Big surprise! Big surprise! ACORN blames all this on...
...racism! I know that's hard to believe.
Statement from Margaret Williams, Board Member, Maryland ACORN:
It is clear and not coincidence that FOX continues to attack and divide our nation along racial lines. We believe our country is beyond this type of attack and call on all Americans to demand that FOX stop its racist coverage.Posted by: Darrell at September 11, 2009 9:44 PM

Everything Changed
by Baron Bodissey
Eight years? Has it really been eight years?
It seems like just the other day that I was sitting at my desk on that bright September morning. My co-workers started coming in with the reports from the news, and soon all the employees were gathered around the one radio in the office that had good enough reception to pick up a clear news channel. The company president closed the office at lunchtime, and everyone went home to watch the horrors on television.

Posted by: Revnant Dream at September 11, 2009 10:14 PMAs we speak, and type, cbc newsworld is playing a puff piece about the movie "Loose Change". This is the flick that contends that 9/11 was a Bush/Cheney conspiracy. I am so ashamed to be a reluctant contributor to this ignorant hate,No,I am outraged and will be voicing my opinion to the cbc ombudsman. American readers ,please remember ,we are not all so obtuse. 25 Canadians died that day, along with another 3,000 innocents. F##K ,How can our national news play this shit,on this day? The headline read:
"Justin Trudeau Stars in French Conservative Attack Ads."
Get a load of this. Above the comments section--it says that submissions were being pre-moderated. (by the CBC.)
Trudeau is starring in attack ads against the Conservatives, and the CBC is moderating our reaction to it! Now that is hilarious. A the end of the day, the CPC didn't suffer too much damage. The story got all of 32 comments!
Note: if you go to CBC.Ca, you have to go to click on "Canada," then go to "more headlines." Come on guys--let him have it!!

I think this comment is odd. I believe many in the NDP take great pride in calling themselves socialists. The comment would be a kind of back=-handed insult to them. If not socialists, then what are they and how do they differ from LiberalÉ

"Mr. Ignatieff said it us up to the Prime Minister to reach out with policies that satisfy the opposition's concerns."
EXCUSE ME?
What about the Canadian electorate's concerns? That's the problem with the damned Opposition parties demanding satisfaction from Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government: They seem to forget who should be calling the shots. They seem to forget how our parliamentary democracy works.
In fact, they seem to want to deep-six the democratic process altogether, in order to forward their socialist and separatist agendas. 'Too bad the media's in bed with their nefarious plans.

From the Washington Post:
"In one of his first major decisions on trade policy, President Obama opted Friday to impose a tariff on tires from China, a move that fulfills his campaign promise to "crack down" on imports that unfairly undermine American workers but risks angering the nation's second-largest trading partner.
The decision is intended to bolster the ailing U.S. tire industry, in which more than 5,000 jobs have been lost over the past five years as the volume of Chinese tires in the market has tripled.
It comes at a sensitive time, however. Leaders from the world's largest economies are preparing to gather in Pittsburgh in less than two weeks to discuss more cooperation amid tensions over trade.
The tire tariff will amount to 35 percent the first year, 30 percent the second and 25 percent the third.
Although a federal trade panel had recommended higher levies -- of 55, 45 and 35 percent, respectively -- the decision is considered a victory for the United Steelworkers union, which filed the trade complaint.
"The president sent the message that we expect others to live by the rules, just as we do," Leo W. Gerard, president of the union, said Friday night. "
Mr. Smoot, meet Mr. Hawley.
Since China recently sent one of their highest ranking officials to Washington to warn specifically against initiating a trade war, their response will be interesting. Will they liquidate some of their $1 trillion of US Treasuries, sending US rates higher and the US$ lower? Will they retaliate with tariffs against US exports? Cancel orders with Boeing, and order from Airbus instead? Should be an interesting week ahead!

Stuck On stupid-ity and credulity?
WhO is the liOn?
...-
"Like a lion in mid-day
There are few preset limits to human stupidity or credulity. For example, the Turkish police discovered an Istanbul villa where nine women were being secretly filmed in their underwear “after being tricked into believing they were reality TV show contestants”.
The women were apparently made to believe they were being filmed for a Big Brother-type television show, according to the private Dogan news agency. Instead, their naked images were sold on the Internet, reports said. The women had responded to an advert searching for contestants for a reality show that would be aired on a major Turkish television station.
How could anyone be so dumb? Right. Well in Baltimore, not far from the nation’s capital, CNN reports that “two employees at … the liberal community organizing group ACORN were caught on tape allegedly offering advice to a pair posing as a pimp and prostitute on setting up a prostitution ring and evading the IRS.”
The video footage — which has been edited and goes to black in some areas — was recorded and and posted online Thursday by James O’Keefe, a conservative activist. He was joined on the video by another conservative, Hannah Giles, who posed as the prostitute in the filmmakers’ undercover sting. The video shows the pair approaching two women working at the ACORN Baltimore office and asking them for advice on how to set up a prostitution ring involving more than a dozen underage girls from El Salvador. One of the ACORN workers suggests that Giles refer to herself as a “performing artist” on tax forms and declare some of the girls as dependents to receive child tax credits. “Stop saying prostitution,” the woman, identified by the filmmaker as an ACORN tax expert, tells Giles. The other woman tells them, “You want to keep them clean … make sure they go to school.
It’s hard to decide which is more astounding, the height of venality displayed by these so-called “community organizers” or the abysmal depth of their IQs at not even being able to see through the setup. The common denominator in both cases is the character of the wrapper around which both the peep-show house and the street crime consulting outfit were encased. In each case they were surrounded by some magic words and that was enough to keep the illusion going. Unfortunately for many people, things are true because they are packaged in a famous brand. You could probably sell tap water for big bucks by giving it fancy European name. “Stop saying prostitution,” the ACORN tax expert says. They are “performing artists”. Sure. We laugh, but in reality they had probably been getting away with it for a long time.
According to CS Lewis, the greatest trick the devil pulled was to convince the world he didn’t exist. But I think Lewis may have been wrong. And even better trick is to convince stupid people they are cool. If you can debase the conscience and make ignoring its warnings trendy and fashionable then you are well on your way to accomplishing the ultimate transformation. They you can make your victims do anything and make them feel good about it. They become your tools; part of a scam they don’t even know is going on. That is the ultimate sleight of hand: convincing the poor addled victim he is experiencing self-esteem when he is about to say that he hates what he does.
Then you’ll always be doing things for their welfare."
