Is There Nothing That Community Organizing Can't Do?

"Officials with the controversial community organizing group ACORN were secretly videotaped offering to assist two individuals posing as a pimp and a prostitute, encouraging them to lie to the Internal Revenue Service and providing guidance on how to claim underage girls from South America as dependents."

Update - the transcript. (sorry - link fixed !)

Tammany Hall reincarnated

Posted by: Chris in the Bridge at September 10, 2009 10:57 AM

Didn't make it through both videos but I have to say I'm speechless. The women doesn't even blink at the mention of underage prostitutes. These people are truly despicable. And they are running the country now.

Posted by: gord at September 10, 2009 11:34 AM

When ACORN started out I thought it was a good thing. The original members fought for fairness and helping people that needed it. Along the way it was hijacked and became what it is to-day. A slush fund.
I hope these women are charged.

Posted by: Speedy at September 10, 2009 11:35 AM

What I divined was ACORN was setting itself up to receive $800/month from a brothel....
These creeps make NAZIs look good......

Posted by: sasqatch at September 10, 2009 11:36 AM

Only saw a part of it. Aside from the complete amorality of ACORN, some observations;

The pimp's get up was '70s caricature - he surely didn't wear it to the interview?! And their english wasn't street lingo by a long shot - dead giveaway. How the 2 ACORN activist didn't see Biff and Jody slumming it from a country mile off is baffling.

Posted by: Agent Smith at September 10, 2009 11:37 AM

That is the new and improved Amerika. The only bad people, are the ones that the government tells you are bad.

Posted by: Arron D at September 10, 2009 11:49 AM

Agent Smith Said "How the 2 ACORN activist didn't see Biff and Jody slumming it from a country mile off is baffling."

The same thought crossed my mind but then I remembered that these people consider themselves untouchable now. They aren't worried about anything because even if they are caught nothing will happen to them. Their guards are down and they aren't even suspicious anymore. My guess is like the Black Panther goons at the voting station these folks will walk away unscathed.

Chris in the bridge - thanks for the interesting historical reference - always good (for me) to learn stuff!

Posted by: Erik Larsen at September 10, 2009 12:13 PM

I guess the street faction has moved in...into the White House as well.

Oh there's change alright!
...mind you nobody said anything about "for the better"

Canada needs to get its house in order and realize that the States is caving; and living under the protectionist shield of the USA is not the viable option it once was.

Kate: The link on your "update" brought me to the CNN item "CNN Poll: Double-digit post-speech jump for Obama plan."

Not quite what I think you had in mind. Anyway, it turns out that the speech was mostly watched by Democrats.

Posted by: MJ at September 10, 2009 12:21 PM

One of the best depictions of Tammany at its peak was in the movie "Gangs of New York". Boss Tweed at his corrupt best.
Today, we find Boss Tweed in the form of George Soros and in Canada as Chairman Mo; Maurice Strong. Acorn is the epitome of the corrupt practices of the Democratic party who will do anything to gain power.

Posted by: Chris in the Bridge at September 10, 2009 12:22 PM

Whoops, forgot to add that "Gangs of New York" depicted how the Democrats, through Tammany, would use the crime bosses of the day to further their aims.

Not much has changed as La Cosa Nostra controlled the unions and were instrumental in delivering the vote to the Democrats. Later on, Joe Kennedy had his friend, Chicago Mob boss, Sam Giancanna help his son get electied President. Now we have a President that ingratiated himself to the Chicago Democratic machine and Boss Soros to further their aims and use Acorn as their stormtroopers in the effort.

So THAT's how "community organizing" works!

A bit alarming really, 2 people go to a organization that is federally funded, looking for information regarding skirting the federal, state, and municipal? tax laws, and the employees simply do not bat an eye. It's just another day, just another client. They are told that, the girls are from El Salvador, without government papers, underage, and working in an illegal operation. And not to put too fine a point on this but the "underage" part of this really bugs me... Yet the federally funded ACORN employees have no problem with any of this, they don't even hesitate to "help" and advise these 2 actors and their 13 underage employees. The ACORN employee gives the actors a break on the ACORN fee, because they're just starting out in this line of work. Any other way we can be of service? I suppose they could have bilingual service for the El Salvadorians, but that's a future consideration...

Having the kids chattering in the next room is a nice touch too...
I didn't catch any information on which party the man is running for... oh never mind, it's clear to me now!
I gather this is all part of hope and change? or has it all moved on from that.

Posted by: marc in calgary at September 10, 2009 1:02 PM

I wonder if this is the "surprise" Glenn Beck has up his sleeve for today. He said "the tide was turning" and that "folks will go to jail".

I certainly doubt the jail part in this lawless Marxist era.

Posted by: Me No Dhimmi at September 10, 2009 1:27 PM

Nice to see my suspicions confirmed. That's the true face of the freaky deaky Left. "Underage hookers? Tax evasion? Welfare scam? Political corruption? No problem! We can help you with that."

Love to see that experiment repeated with two Christians from Squaresville. "You want to start a missionary church downtown, everything strictly legal, moral and righteous? Oh, that's going to be a problem."

"two Christians from Squaresville"

That's the best laugh I've had all day long.

Former Congressman Bill Janklow(R-SD) Convicted and jailed for killing a man with his car after blowing through a stopsign at a high rate of speed.

John Rowland(R-CT)Convicted and jailed for graft, had work done on his house and some other bribe related charges.

ACORN is slated to go under congressional investigation after the Dems lose the house next year. Tune in then.

Posted by: Jim at September 10, 2009 2:11 PM

Comrade stirred is playing the partisan game.

On the other hand, he points out a vauable lesson.

The state, and those associated with it, from legislators to bureaucrats are vulnerable to the same temptations as are found in the private sector.

This valuable lesson comrade stirred has demonstrated for us shows why some human beings placed in a position of trust to make laws and enforce laws cannot be trusted.

The only logical conclusion comrade stirred should come up with is ... the smaller the size of government, the better.

That's because the average proletariat is quite capable to spending his own money and raising his own children.

I'm certain that's the point comrade stirred was trying to make.

Am I correct?

Posted by: Osumashi Kinyobe at September 10, 2009 2:20 PM

set you free,

I presume you're referring to me by using the salutation ‘comrade’. I know playing the partisan game isn’t that great a method of making a point but it works in this case. When one holds themselves to a higher standard then that standard has to be universal.

Yes, the point I make is public servants are vulnerable to temptations. Behaviour readily accepted in the private sector will get you in deep shit in the public sector.

The average ‘prole’ is quite capable, but what of the less than average ones? Do you just let them fend for themselves as they do in the USA? Look what is happening there; inner city war zones, ghettoes and innumerable derelict buildings. Is that what you want?

The least amount of government is the best amount. There has to be a balance point. Does seeking that balance point make me a ‘comrade’?

Comrade shaken too much etc. - personally, I want government funded "social justice" organizations with close ties to the President to help hookers and their pimps lie to the authorities and dodge taxes on their scams to smuggle in illegal South American immigrants for work as underage sex-slaves.

But yeah, that horrible trafic accident you mentioned is bad too.

Posted by: Black Mamba at September 10, 2009 3:30 PM

Well Comrade stirred, if the SDA flying monkeys had raised an uproar over the rightful conviction of the two men you mention, such as was created by people like yourself over the rightful disbarment of used-ta-be President William Jefferson Clinton for -lying under oath-, then you might have a point.

However, as I recall there was no such uproar created. Nor do I recall anyone jumping to defend Senator Widestance Toetapper of men's room sex scandal. Or any other mentally malfunctioning creature of the Republican party, or the CPC, etc.

Therefore you are, as usual, pointless.

That was kind of the whole point of this post, and my comments herein. I am unsurprised it went over your head.

those ubiquitous video cameras.

a good thing when they catch obamites doing the subterfuge; a bad thing everywhere else.

ain't technology wunnerful !!!

p.s. I added 'wunnerful' to my spell check dictionary so it is not a spelling mistake. LOL !!!

Posted by: curious_george at September 10, 2009 3:50 PM

shaken too much - make no mistake (as Obama would say), this isn't about hypocrisy. The mindset and behaviour captured on those two videos (which I assume you did watch, of course) is not a bug, it's a feature. Really, that's the point.

Posted by: Black Mamba at September 10, 2009 4:05 PM

Osumashi Kinyobe said: "There is a ring in hell for such people."

Yes there is. According to Dante they get their very own ditch in the 8th circle of Hell. Its a lake of boiling pitch, as I recall.

Good thing Moral Relativism has banned all that mean hell talk, eh? Boiling pitch would be a really big owie.

Panderers and other such get their own circle as well. Its no fun either. Mean Christians!

Posted by: The Phantom at September 10, 2009 4:09 PM

Ah, of course comrade stirred.

It's the old ‘sure you and me are smart enough to spend our own money and raise our own children, but what about the stupid people out there who happen to be out of hearing distance?' canard.

Once again, comrade stirred, you have clearly demonstrated an elitist attitude and a tactic that is frequently used by the promoters of the maxist utopia of a bigger role for the state in the lives of ... wait for it, you and me.

Glen Beck is covering this story on Fox News right now. He's challenging other networks and any self respecting journalist to cover it too. So far, no takers....

However, somebody at ACORN got some 'splainin to do.

Beck is just nibbling around the edges.. The Acorn saga has legs if John Conyers & his wife (Monica Conyers) are held up to the bright Light. John Conyers (Chairman of Judicial Committee) threatened to hold hearing's on Acorn; that was until his wife was offered a plea agreement (Accepting Bribes). We are expected to feel sorry for Detroit, or have faith in the DOJ ?

The Acorn organization "Membership", and all their clients would be under audit by the IRS if Justice existed. A blind monkey knows that the/a crime is committed between Acorn & those pll that followed thier advice..

This same type of criminal activity can be found in AZ, CA in the illegal alien underground. The illegal aliens are advised on how to avoid detection and apply for, and receive money, from "every" Federal & State program meant to help American Citizens.. They are criminal Colleges run by Lawyers & Crooks

Anyone who has been to Las Vegas knows about the Coupon books for Freebees, what else needs to be explained…..
