Remember the good old days when they meant the same thing?
Posted by Kate at August 30, 2009 12:05 PMThe story of these seemingly anomalous glaciers underscores the important distinction between the terms “climate change” and “global warming.”
The Warmongers are getting tired of torturing data. They now need to torture their ever changing narrative to make it comply with their ever greater cognitive dissonance.
I don't know if their little pinheads will explode or implode from the stress. I just don't want to be nearby when all the crap between their ears flies.

Are you freakin' kidding me? I...just...oh, good gracious...
Words fail.
Absolutely fail.

Posted by: Mortimer at August 30, 2009 12:51 PMthe truth will eventually set them free . . .
30 August, 2009 - Climate change is not about science, it is about economic growth and politics, according to the centre for science and environment (CSE) in New Delhi, India.

That's the truth as we've known it all along.
Posted by: set you free at August 30, 2009 1:09 PMRight you are, Fred. As with any scam the truth remains a very dangerous thing that must be avoided at all cost, for there is too much at stake.
Funny though how we know that various societies and civilisations in the past either disappeared or had to move due to climate change, and it all happened long before the industrial revolution. Of course the scam promoters do not want to talk about this.
Posted by: Alain at August 30, 2009 1:17 PMMeanwhile India and Pakistan conduct a long drawn out battle over the Siachen glacier....making this AGW/CC thing seem sorta sensible....by comparison.....a loaf of bread costing 4 rupees in the plains costs 400 rupees to supply to the troops on the roof of the world...scrapping over a big chunk of ice. Fatalities number in the dozens while losses from environmental factors(temperature and altitude) are in the thousands.

Kate, you are one of the smartest people on the planet. I love how you can deliver a point with surgical precision.
Please run for MP.
Posted by: Kyla at August 30, 2009 1:46 PMThanks, Amy P. I was wondering how I was going to attempt to assimilate this crap into my Goreacle sect being. But instead of my head,I'm just whacking my butt on the floor to induce it to leave. I sure don't need this socialist BS in my system.
The other great scam is that we must lower our cholesterol to live longer. In fact it's the complete opposite, people with high cholesterol live longer than those with low cholesterol. The hoax is perpetrated by the drug companies that produce statin drugs, Lipitor, Crestor etc aided and abetted by the cardiologists.

Posted by: PiperPaul at August 30, 2009 2:17 PMThis is the last year anyone will give a damn about global warming or anything to do with the environment for a long time. Except possibly in China, where they have actual pollution.
Like gun control in the 1990's, this thing has peaked and now its going to crash into obscurity. Politicaly its already dead, and if Obummer manages to Rahm through his cap-and-trade scam, the word "environment" will become like antimatter. Touch it and watch your career die. Just like gun control.
Algore is riding another ship down in flames. How many is this now for Algore, two or three?

Posted by: Mortimer at August 30, 2009 2:21 PMIs anybody denying that climate is changing? Climate has been changing since the Earth formed fercrissake! the bone of contention is whether (I almost slipped 'weather' in there for effect;) )or not human activity influences it. Anything else is a digression. The AGW proponents have been proven to have used any number of scams to move their agenda forward. Even the undecided amongst us should be revolted at the blatant attempt to hijack science, the world's economy, and Western society.
From Amy P's comment, apparently with no little measure of success.
Newspeak lives - of course.
I have news for the MIT guys - billions will die "in this century" whether temperatures rise, fall, or stay the same.
Lies, damned lies, and statistics. As for Amy P's "comment" - I must be missing something, seems rather devoid of content to me.
Posted by: Michael H Anderson at August 30, 2009 2:59 PMHey, looka dat - there's me at the bottom of that WUWT thread! That's the beauty of GOOD content: it's re-usable. :)
Posted by: Michael H Anderson at August 30, 2009 3:04 PMIt's just so infuriating. The phrase "global warming" lost steam when people realized the world wasn't get warmer, but cooling. Because the alarmism was gone they changed the narrative to "climate change" so as to be able to justify passing life-controlling legislation whether the earth cooled or warmed.
And now because people caught on to the shift in vernacular, they're suddenly two totally different things!
Posted by: Amy P. at August 30, 2009 6:13 PMFunny thing about this carbon business......carbon falls like a gentle rain 24/7/365.....as carbon14---formed in the upper atmosphere by interaction of the atmosphere with the solar wind.
Carbon14 is absorbed by all living things and after death the adsorption ceases----checking the decay of this isotope is how carbon dating works.
That's your trivia for the day......
Everyone who has confronted these climate cult moonies at forums knows that Climate change is any disasterous natural occurance and Global warming now only effects far away places where no one goes.
Posted by: Jim at August 30, 2009 7:38 PMThe beauty of the phrase 'climate change' is that it is all-encompassing.
Therefore any anomaly can be accredited to climate change. And if it's a period of dreary static weather, that can be climate change too.
So we need to buy carbon credits to stop that nasty climate change!
Posted by: Joanne (T.B.) at August 30, 2009 8:58 PMGlobal Warming --> Climate Change --> Climate Crisis
In the world of algore and company, the term 'Climate Change' is insufficient to express what they are thinking. You need to say 'Climate Crisis' to get your point across.
Just Google the term 'Al Gore Climate Crisis' and see for yourself.
Their study can be used to help assess future glaciological and hydrological changes in the most populated part of our planet, which is a region that is now beginning to experience the profound effects of human-induced climate change,” said Lewis Owen, a geologist at the University of Cincinnati who was not affiliated with this study.
NOT AFFILIATED:
How in the Hell did that Paragraph qualify to be part of the article.. Lewis Owen is the least qualified person to comment on any study, especially one of which he has absolutely no useful Knowledge....Lewis Clark is obviously a AGW retard. He must be full of himself....
P.G. Shaw; more to the point, or at least additional to it, why did the reporter and the editor tack it on? That's a rhetoric question; the Vancouver Sun does it constantly, that is to say, adding on pro AGW blarney from unconnected-to-the main-story sources. Hell! They still call it "global warming"! Makes me crazy!
"Man Bites Dog.
B.S. Dipshit, from UBC, warns of Glacial melting caused by decomposing dog feces."
Story evolves ... tweeked to accomodate pesky pundits ... experts on rolodex available for instant gratification sorted by theme.
Extrapolating no information to unfounded conclusions:
"BC heat wave of '09 caused by decomposed hippy crap and tofu farts?"
Eh?
Posted by: OMMAG at August 31, 2009 8:16 PMGotcha Amy, and sorry if I gave offense. I thought judging by some reactions here you might have been on the other side. :) Yes, they keep changing the narrative to suit the weather all right, must assume nobody's paying attention.
They're wrong.
