Long Live Afghanistan

Terry Glavin notices his fellow travellers;

This is lurid, reactionary filth, all dressed up as "anti-imperialism." Its adherents and apologists, and every last one of you who would tolerate it, make excuses for it, or give it sanctuary by alleging that to merely notice it is to "smear the peace movement," will rot with it in history's dustbin. And while you weep and gnash your teeth at every tiny revolutionary victory, Afghanistan's long and bloody democratic revolution, for which so many Canadians have given their lives, will surely triumph. Slow and steady, the people will win.

Echoing pretty much what we warmongering righties been saying for what... 6 years, now? The left's not anti-war - they're on the other side.

The left has never believed in democracy. They reject ideologies that offer the option of rejecting the views of their masters.

Individualism is the enemy of the collective, that is why individuals are targeted in the Alinsky method.

Ultimately, the collective is ruled by individuals.

The useful idiots mistakenly believe they are worthy to be part of the ruling elite.

Two can play that game.

Excellent article. Thank-you for linking to it. I join the crowd on the side of individual freedom - the people of North America should be taking notes and attepting to grow their own spines.

Posted by: Jema54 at August 21, 2009 11:16 AM

The Left is fundamentally anti-individual. All their "antis" flow out of the position.

Posted by: mark at August 21, 2009 11:19 AM

Yeah good article...

Recently an acquaintance asked why I "hated Obama so much"......
My reply was that I am an old COLD WARrior....that that is not over and the enemy has just changed their garb....
The lefties----don't realize the COLD WAR is over and their side lost....they are the rump who have morphed into a subversive undercurrent.
My concern is that they have Trojan Horsed themselves into absolute power in the US and the EU.
The forces of FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY are fast becoming the revolutionary forces.
Teach the children quietly....they shall rise up where we stood still....

Cindy Sheehan is still protesting, still doing her anti-wat thingy.

The only difference is then, all the MSM gave her tons of prome time coverage when she camped outside Bush's ranch. Now, when she camps outside Obamasiah's summer vacation home. not a peep out of Charlie Gibson et al.

Peace is only important when the other guys are in power.

Nobody does hypocrisy like a Progressive.

I'm curious what the 'demsoc' democrat sock puppet left in the comments on Terry's site. Anyone know?

"peace" group blather: "The Taliban is the resistance in Afghanistan and we must support it, critically, but unreservedly"

Funny how these groups never want to support people who desire living in peace and freedom with a chance of prosperity. It's almost as if they're against those things.

Posted by: Kathryn at August 21, 2009 12:15 PM

The enemy of my enemy just 'has' to be a friend of mine - even if it means cutting off my nose to spite my face.

Posted by: ron in kelowna at August 21, 2009 12:21 PM

"critically, but unreservedly"

Only in lefty land is this possible. The hatred these people have for their society (us!) and their love for anything that threatens it is horrifying. And of course, if real danger knocks, they'd scream for the military to help them.

Posted by: hudson duster at August 21, 2009 12:45 PM

bon mots, words of wisdom from the so progressive, so fair, so stuck-on-stupid peace at any price crowd.

"Canadian Peace Alliance and the Toronto Stop The War Coalition: "The Taliban is the resistance in Afghanistan and we must support it, critically, but unreservedly. . . There is no fundamental difference between the liberation theology movements in South America and the popular Islamist resistance movements in the Middle East and Asia, movements such as Hezbollah, Hamas and the Taliban. . . .Every U.S. and NATO tank that the Taliban destroy, every Karzai-appointed stooge they assassinate and every town or village they liberate is a victory for our side and a grievous blow to U.S. imperialism.""

Terry is dyed in the wool lefty but at least he is honest about it, not like these fools.

Posted by: Fred at August 21, 2009 12:45 PM

Hell Kate, they've been on the "other side" since Vietnam. That's why I used to join my fellow McMaster students in taunting the Marxist/Leninist club members when they'd put their freaky wares out in front of the book store every spring. Even as a callow youth is was -obvious- they were retards, their pamphlets were incomprehensible gibberish.

We all moved on to other things, while they stayed and took over the university. Because they were unable to cut it in the real world. Now all the courses that aren't physics or engineering are incomprehensible gibberish.

End result, community college enrollments at an all time high, scholarship at an all time low. Way to go, Lefties.

When we read the history after all soldure finish the war successfully
they brought gold or jewlery from rubber or enemy back home to pay cost of their job

now those time is finished and Afganestan do not have any valuable thing in thier country to import to USA
then the best thing

to bring free stone from big mountain in Afganestan to Canada since price of stone
used in Home in Cnanda is too expensive
at least those areoplan can be use for something

I am not releastic these election do major changes to Afganstan

since lack of educiton of exiting Afgani live there cause their progress get very slow
the only thing
they gave Canada their stone free
and we gave them Canadian Afgani back home

most Canadian afgani live in Canada are educated and smart and kind and may time for them go back if Canda help them to become future better minster in thier country
with exiting peope live there and their face you know it take some times they will understand world politic give them some times do not expect majic

This is not the left, but the far left. The moderate left I have some respect for, although I seldom agree with them. The far left I fear like the devil himself.

Looking back on the history of the 20'th century, societies based on collectivism - USSR, China, Cambodia, North Korea, and so on - were responsible for some of the greatest mass slaughters ever seen on the face of the earth. The toll is in the hundreds of millions.

Socialists will claim that these are aberrations, that they didn't represent true socialism. But the problem is that socialism is helpless to prevent these occurences. Once individual freedom ("individualism") is stripped away, the stage is set.

There are few things that I view as unadulterated evil. Radical socialism is one of them. That their adherents should claim moral superiority over those supporting free markets and individual freedom is utterly perverse. Every time I read their tracts - such as are shown in Glavin's collection - I see the writings dripping in blood.

Sorry for the rant.

The Phantom, 10:48, you reiterated my comment of yesterday that we slept in the 1960s and 70s while they slowly took over all the halls of academia.

rabbit, 12:53, don't be sorry for telling it like it is. Some of my family were among those slaughtered in the Soviet Union. Phillboy and his ilk should be made to dig up some of the mass graves near the city of Orenburg.

Posted by: Ken at August 21, 2009 1:02 PM

If the left prefer the status quo of women being shot in soccer stadiums, then they are welcome to dig the graves.
Of course real change will take time in Afghanistan but it would never occur if someone with some guts didn't make it happen.
We'll see.

thanks rabbit... agreed.

Posted by: marc in calgary at August 21, 2009 1:15 PM

The main irony of the lefties is that the Obamas, Pol Pots', Mao's, Stalin's, Lenin's, Hitlers generally regard the Johns/Phillboys as useful idiots and occasionally are candid enough to declare it openly----before they liquidate them. These are the first elements to be purged after the lefties take over----Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua,,,,are local examples....

So the science is "settled" and Imperialism is bad? Call me a denier, but the long-term results of Imperialism is more peace, not the other way around.

Nothing like showing public support for those acid throwing tasdards who maim children in the name of their religion. We need to update our treason laws so the vermin can face a court of law, supporting our enemies use to be a punishable offense in this Country. Ship the stinky lot of them to Afghanistan and let's see how long those gals will last wearing a body bag whilst enjoying the Taliban's customs.

in Above said:

I think this is funny when the word " health care" the word " human right commision" and some one fight it since the word has good meaning may not contents that make it funny if you vote we kill you all that is strange to hear from us

as Taliban are education care protesters by put the acid to face of peopel "acid throwing tasdards " because if people get educated are not going to listen to them any more.

" while over here" we have our own problems daily it means war can not resolve crime and gang there need justice and court and jail and time and solutin day by day by their politic by their law and by their police to fix their society.

while the word ' Imperialism" is bad name was found and if you say you like it cannot accepted by even most politician who are doing to date.

===

Imperialism is a policy of extending control or authority over foreign entities as a means of acquisition and/or maintenance of empires, either through direct territorial conquest or through indirect methods of exerting control on the politics and/or economy of other countries. The term is often used to describe the policy of a country in maintaining colonies and dominance over distant lands, regardless of whether the country calls itself an empire.

Insofar as 'imperialism' might be used to refer to an intellectual position, it would imply the belief that the acquisition and maintenance of empires is a positive good, probably combined with an assumption of cultural or other such superiority inherent to imperial power. See The White Man's Burden.

Imperialism draws heavy criticism on the grounds that it is a form of economic exploitation in which the imperialist power makes use of other countries as sources of raw materials and cheap labor, shaping their economies to suit its own interests and keeping their people in poverty. When imperialism is accompanied by overt military conquest, it is also seen as a violation of freedom and human rights.

In recent years, there has also been a trend to criticise imperialism not at an economic or political level, but at a simply cultural level, particularly the widespread global influence of American culture - see cultural imperialism. Some dispute this extension, however, on the grounds that it is highly subjective (to differentiate between mutual interaction and undue influence) and also applied selectively (hamburgers being imperialist and black tea not). The debate continues.

Mark,

If you don't think Terry is a 'fellow traveller', you've obviously not read much of his writings.

The fact is, there's no gray area, you either believe in freedom, or you don't.

"The left's not anti-war - they're on the other side."

Damn right! Their President's family did business with the family of Osama Bin Laden, then after Bin Laden committed the biggest mass murder in US history, they let him go scot-free as they concentrated on "other matters".

Oops, sorry. That was the Republicans under George W. Bush.
