Ve Have Vays Of Making You Shut Up

Hope, change, threats to target your executives;

Letters sent to 52 insurance companies by Democratic leaders demand extensive documents for an examination of ‘extensive compensation and other business practices in the health insurance industry.” The letters set a deadline of Sept. 14 for the documents.

Related: "I am finally scared of a White House administration."

Much more of this, and I'll be breaking out Hugo's bulldozer for these posts.

The insurance companies should fight fire with fire and do the same to the Democrats in the House, and let them know they are going to do it ahead of time, let the American public see where the Pork has been going.

Is that legal? I would think that w/o subpoena the business is under no obligation to respond.

Posted by: Aaron at August 19, 2009 11:28 AM

So they're going to bring the so-called millions of uninsureds under the "universal" plan, which won't be universal because of rationing and thus will create thousands/millions of uninsureds?

Hope they change that.

This is tyranny plain and simple. These idiots are losing control of their agenda and are now resorting to thuggery at the highest levels.

When will the shooting begin. I cannot see three and half more years of this.

That fella made an excellant point about how bureaucrat created regulations diverge from statute/legistlation. The assault weapons bill resulted in regulations affecting self loaders and here in Canada the firearm safe storage law morphed into locked boxes with triggerlocks....when simple removal of bolts etc satisfied the law.
I doubt this will continue for 3 1/2 years....a "velvet revolution" is underway....already violence has occurred.....the lefites/obamaites have drawn first blood.

Maybe the pols should release their insider trading records. It isn't illegal for them but wouldn't that be in the public interest?

Posted by: speedy at August 19, 2009 12:20 PM

Well, "Children of the Grave", a song from Black Sabbath circa 1971 from the album "Master of Reality" is very a propos right now, with the permission of Ozzy himself ;-), I have modified it to better reflect the situation: (Changed words will be in '----')

"'Victims' Of The 'Deceiver'"

Revolution in their minds - the 'people' start to march
Against 'this administration' in which they have to live
and all the 'worries' that's in their hearts
They're tired of being pushed around
and told just what to 'think'
They'll fight the 'deceiver' until they've won
and 'freedom' comes flowing through

Children of 'the constitution' live in the 'threat' that fall today
Will the sun rise up tomorrow bringing 'justice' in any way?
Must the 'patriot' live in the shadow of 'socialistic' fear?
Can they win the fight for 'freedom' or will they disappear?

So you 'citizens' of 'America',
listen to what I say
If you want a better place to live in
spread the words today
Show the 'deceiver' that 'the Constitution' is still alive
you must be brave
Or you 'patriots' of today are
'slaves' of the 'deceiver', Yeah!

This story shows how business-ignorant the people who originated the letter demanding that information. For all publicly traded companies all executive compensation information is published in their annual reports. Unless perhaps, the goal is to demonstrate some Chicago style intimidation.

Posted by: John G Chittick at August 19, 2009 12:42 PM

Pure intimidation, John. Also pure smoke and mirrors, because as you say all these companies report every blessed thing to the SEC every quarter.

OTOH, nothing focuses the attention of a senior executive like the thread of a federal investigation. Such "investigations" tend to find things, or in some cases make them. The business with Martha Stewart springs to mind. If they decide you're going down, down you're going to go.

If this statist, Marxist cabal doesn't find a way to shut up the blogosphere, the blogosphere will continue to out their population control agenda. The grey beards may not seem like much a revolutionary threat, but I suspect many of them have children... children who may actually love them and want them around, and those children are possibly not so easily pacified...

Could it be that Soros is finally pushing too far? Wonder how he plans to skirt his own personal end of life "consultation". All I can say is that he is well advised not to look too plump when Americans stumbling around in the devastation I suspect he has created, are looking for a meal with a bit of protein.

I may not have been clear, politicians can insider trade and it is legal. If the companies or you or I insider trade it is not. Pelosi carbon trading Axelrod health care etc.

Jeez, when you've lost Nat Hentoff, you've really lost. I remember reading him in The Village Voice back in my naive lefty youth, railing about how Ronald Reagan was destroying the Bill of Rights. He railed about Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush x 2, Clinton ... but The One is the first to make him fear for his own personal well-being. Yup, time for the bulldozers.

Posted by: Dutch Canuck at August 19, 2009 2:28 PM

Hentoff is as liberal as they come. He wrote for the Village Voice for years.

If HE is scared, we're all in deep doo doo.

I went to the links. Seeing Henry Waxman's ugly mug made me think, "I'm sure I've seen that face before."

Why does this remind me of the Unification Board in Atlas Shrugged?

Posted by: Taliesyn at August 19, 2009 3:40 PM

Unification Board, anyone?

Posted by: Taliesyn at August 19, 2009 3:41 PM

question. how long does it take for a federal education system to dumb down the majority of voters. answer, forty years. the average american is now as stupid as the average canadian.

Posted by: old white guy at August 19, 2009 3:46 PM

terry tory. was that not written against the gop. and conservative thought and government.

Posted by: old white guy at August 19, 2009 3:49 PM

Why should this surprise anybody who's paying attention?

When pushing through the OnePlan for health care, demonize doctors.

Then, demonize the rival insurance providers.

Remembers the words of Lenin ... this is another attempt to create peace by silencing those who oppose socialism.

This is so transparent that most of the American public is now understanding the tactics.

We're used to this in Canada and need to punch back twice as hard on both sides of the border.

Speaking of Henry Waxman, is it just me or does he look like the result of some insane genetics experiment gone terribly wrong involving a transgenic cross of pigs and humans?

Posted by: John G Chittick at August 19, 2009 6:15 PM

The re-education camps can't start soon enough for me...then we'll find out if right whingers will continue to deny that waterboarding is torture.

Don't worry about us,uli. You see,in all of recorded, and probably pre, history, when the socialists/facists/commies take over, the lefturds, along with the intellectuals, are the first to go.Why? Because since you are a lefturd, your new lefturd masters know just how low, treacherous, decietful, and amoral you will go to get their spots, ergo, get rid of you.And when they are done, you will be pleading for something as simple and non-life threatening as waterboarding.

Posted by: Justthinkin at August 19, 2009 10:54 PM

Attorney-general Holder, a faithful Comrade, may have said it best:

“If we waterboard terrorist suspects, the terrorists who capture American troops might do unpleasant things to them."

Can you imagine? Slandering the holy freedom fighters who are inspired to do unpleasant things to the American troops and all because of waterboarding.

I remember back in my wild Navy days drinking with some Quebec buddies a concoction of Wine & Apple cider...I puked to liver bile and, in the Toilet Bowl, saw Henry Waxman looking back at me… I swear.....

Posted by: Slap Shot at August 20, 2009 12:17 AM

Unless they are given a subpoena, they need to tell Waxman to f*ck off.
