Culture Of Corruption

Michelle Malkin 's new book is in its second week at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

(Have they reviewed it yet?)

Michelle should be charged with hit and run for what she does here to Matt Lauer....

"(Have they reviewed it yet?)" About as much as they reviewed Glenn Becks Common Sense which was No.1 at NYT for many weeks, Notta, Zip.

Posted by: Warren Z at August 16, 2009 12:08 PM

why would they need to review it. It is by a mouth breathing dimwit conservative. AND it likely uses words with two syllables and MORE. It would be filled with facts and citations and thoughtful stuff.

How are they expected to understand it?

Posted by: dkjones at August 16, 2009 12:18 PM

An easy way to tell if they made an attempt at a review is to take a look around their newsroom. If you see brain matter from all the exploded heads then yes they made the attempt.

NYT obamabots don't need to do no stinking reading from an outside source not anointed by the OWE.

The teleprompter and company guides them in their 'superior and all-knowing' assessments about the rest of us.

Presently they are matched quite well, tanking numbers, ever growing public mistrust; ah, misery loves company they say.

Posted by: ldd at August 16, 2009 12:41 PM

I'm somewhat surprised the NYT didn't find a way to exclude it from the list, u know - 'too inflammatory, disturbing social harmony etc'. Malkin is quite the cutie to boot.

I would like to know how retailers in the blue states/cities are displaying it in their store. I doubt there is an entire display of it setup at the entrance. And how are bookings for book signings going in those same stores.

Posted by: Gord Tulk at August 16, 2009 1:15 PM

As a person who just went into a Barnes & Noble located in a fairly Democratic county in a fairly Democratic state, it was as if Michelle Malkin's No. 1 best seller was just another book.

Interesting.

Posted by: anon at August 16, 2009 1:48 PM

...and, true to form, the leftbot that decides to criticize the book and author here does so while making it abundantly clear that they haven't read the book.

Criticism without knowledge...the sign of a true Democrat!

Michelle might be needing Salman Rushdie's advice on how to stay safe, now.

Going to need at least a couple of big, mean-looking bodyguards to discourage the Purpleshirts from "having a little chat" with her.

"Michelle might be needing Salman Rushdie's advice on how to stay safe"

That's what i thought when I saw the headline. In the past she has had to suffer through a lot of rabid sexist, racist anger from the left when she voices an opinion. I suppose the lightweight popping off on this thread is an example; they just can't stand it.

Posted by: hudson duster at August 16, 2009 2:02 PM

Well if the blue states don't promote or display Michelle's work you can always get it from Amazon. Wouldn't be a good business decision though. Books make it to #1 either because you give a lot away or you sell a lot. Pelosi's book they gave away and it was never close to #1 or any single digit.

Posted by: speedy at August 16, 2009 2:28 PM

TS's scintillating and cogent review of Michelle's latest work has certainly provoked my interest. His expletive-laden comments, although lacking the crude sexual innuendo we've come to expect of this genre, cut straight to the heart of the matter. I am, however, disappointed that TS, in his haste to get out a timely review of the work, has failed to include the requisite capitalization and underlining which would truly make it a commentary tour-de-force. We expect great things of TS. And I'm sure future posts will not fail to disappoint.
Yours in ad-hominem . . .

Sojourner, (truth ... not)

The corruption in Obama world didn't just happen in the last six months, it's been there for a very long time. Michelle's research is excellent and on the money.

Why not try to disprove what she says. If you can (and I know you cannot) then I will consider your verbal diarrhea for a moment or two.

Posted by: Momar at August 16, 2009 2:38 PM

Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at August 16, 2009 2:43 PM

The Obamites will be unable to prove Malkin wrong, so they'll give her the Palin treatment and make up entirely fantastic lies to demonize her via the Big Media, who're only too happy to help them do so.

Ya know, Lurking Lefties, we're used to it, expect it and have learned to deal with it... and beat it.

I have ordered this book having read a great deal of what Malkin has compiled and want to study it more. Reading the comments of the early reviewers of the book on Amazon they seem as brain dead as this Truth Sojourner and obviously had not read the book either. You can even see their lips move as they try so very hard to read something.

Pretty sad when your only purpose in life is to criticize that which you can't comprehend. Sojourner, I believe your "visit" part of your namesake is at an end, time to move back to rabble for the group hug.

We eagerly await your point by point counter arguments to Malkin's well researched and documented book.

Posted by: AtlanticJim at August 16, 2009 3:15 PM

From the reviews of this book at Amazon...
"After reading all of the negative reviews on the book, one would hope the detractors could at least debunk the book with facts and evidence, but of course if the allegations are true then that's not possible..........so, on to Plan B! Attack the author as a right-wing hack, and paint all the readers as ignorant right-wing talk radio heads who can't think for themselves". B. Hoffman.

I think Michelle's biggest challenge was nailing this down in 376 pages. She obviously had a mountain of notes to work with, and to sort out the wheat from the chaff, is where the real work needed to be done. We saw the left try to counter her arguments in "The View", but they didn't get far while they had to stick to the facts. I'm curious if Whoopi has had anyone read her some talking points yet...

Will part 2 be released in the coming months after the new health care plan is implemented? shall we collect the entire set of this (potential) encyclopedia? there's a reason that Rush was signed for 8 years of bla bla bla... Those of us that love to pile on, have years of this to look forward to.

Posted by: marc in calgary at August 16, 2009 3:24 PM

Truth Sojourner, seemingly a particularly thick troll who we probably shouldn't feed (but here I go, just once), is likely female, having named herself after an anti-slavey and 19th c. feminist icon who at least suffered authentic injustice and made one striking speach.

All right then, lay on us some real refutations of Malkin's book, Truther. Alternatively, explain why a woman of Filipina origin would travel with a "crew of skinheads and stormtroopers".

Also, when you denounce a site for being "a temple to ad hominem" (@2:39), bear in mind that your forfeit the moral high-ground slightly by denouncing everyone involved seven minutes later as a "sad-ashed (sic?) bunch of hillbillies".

I have been watching the daily presidential tracking pool at rasmussen reports, and one thing I have noticed is that the lower Barack Obama's polling numbers get the more likely "progressive" trolls will ignore arguments like a child with their fingers in their ears.

I personally suspect that these trolls thought that the support that Barack Obama received in the election was a sign of support for their agenda; and now they're just comming to the realization that people were rejecting George W. Bush's agenda, and are becomming more afraid of Barack Obama's agenda every day.

Four out of five best sellers are conservative books. None in the top 15 are liberal books. bambam is right about a focus on education because apparently the left doesn't read anything their profs don't recommend and they live in the past.

Posted by: speedy at August 16, 2009 4:22 PM

Liberals don't read, they just take their professor's and their community organizers word for everything. That is why they cannot debate, they don't know anything ... just the talking points.

Even Obama has shown us that he is shaky on facts. IE 57 states, people who speak Austrian etc.

I haven't read the book (yet) but I'm sure it is a well-researched effort...Michelle does her work well and is both informative and accurate. I'm going to find a copy. I believe time will prove, once again, the old saying to be careful what you wish for....America wanted change and they sure have it now! Lets hope that it will be survivable. Obama's connection to corruption runs deep!! (from zero to President in 6 yrs??...that alone should ring alarm bells).

But one must remember that corruption it isn't restricted by ideology (Dem or Rep)..one only needs to check the history of the Bushes from George Walker on down (Prescott, Johnathan J., Geo H. W., Neil, Marvin, Jeb and Geo W himself)...it starts with WW2 involvement with the German company I. G. Farben...anyone recognize that name?)

A view from north o' the 49th.

Cheers.

Watch the look on Lauer's face at the end of the interview. I don't think he'll be going out to get a copy.

And that is too bad, he might actually learn something and gain what we like to call a broader PERSPECTIVE.

Gee, I would suspect that the people Malkin investigated didn't just "become" corrupted once working for Obama. There is the possibility (slim, of course I know)that they have been corrupt for some time. So there has been plenty of time to research this book. But thats just a "wlid ass guess" of course. I have always been impressed with MM,and not just because she is a babe.Ever notice that the women who are prominent on the right are attractive,Coulter,Palin,Malkin, and of course Ms. SDA herself, while those on the left such as Mallick,Whoopi,Rosie and the others are ,to put it politely, noted only for their biased rhetoric. Anyways,I digress. Michelle Malkin is not only a heck of a smart woman ,she also oozes class, while the others just ooze.. This confrontation with Alex Jones, head truther and leftoid fantasy, shows the lefties at their best. ----http://www.zimbio.com/9+11+conspiracy+theories/articles/26/Alex+Jones+Attacks+Michelle+Malkin ---.

ET, don't expect TS to provide anything other than more of the same. TS is merely giving us propaganda, just like Obama and Pelosi do, telling us that the majority of Americans (ie. those who don't want the Obama-Dem agenda) are Astroturf, swastika carriers and evilmongers.

Those Leftists, they'll make up any false accusation, in the hopes that a lot of people will believe it without bothering to question it. That's their game.

Sometimes a particularly unhinged Leftist will pretty much jump up and down like an enraged Donald Duck, screaming, "Palin is Satan!" or similar incredible nonsense.

However, it appears that fewer and fewer people are listening to the obvious lies coming from the Left.

Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at August 16, 2009 8:04 PM

canadian sentinel - I've noticed that whenever I ask someone from the left to substantiate their opinons, they always fail to do so; they simply cease to post. This is valid for all of them - whether it be philboy or T or..any and all of them.

This means that they simply 'yell out' their unsubstantiated opinions and expect and insist that others accept them! heh - why should anyone do so?

Posted by: Garry at August 16, 2009 8:18 PM

That interview with Lauer was news last week BTW.

In any case hardly a fair or honest interview.

Lauer was attempting to interject as well as to throw Malkin off her point at every turn. The only reason he failed is because Michelle is used to this kind of disrespectful treatment and knows how to deflect the crap from these tools.

Just watch it again... and this time pay attention to Lauer's body language and face.

At the end of the segment he expresses a pout then forces a clench toothed grimace that is supposed to be a smile ... this followed by a pucker like he just vomited in his mouth.

So for Malkin, marketing the new book will an endless slog through the sewers of the MSM and a swim in the fever swamps of the left.

Posted by: OMMAG at August 16, 2009 8:59 PM

This is not a response 'to him'...
When TJ said this:
"So Obama's been prez for all of six months. And Malkin was able to "research" and type this book, get a publisher and get it through production and printing, all in that timee"

...it reminded me that is exactly what Whoopi said to MM on 'the view' a few weeks ago, and Michelle responded perfectly! Guess TJ missed that show.

I don't get his beef with her. She reports accurately and drills the idiots with great class and determination. What's a poor objectivist, conservative, atheist, loner in his golden years like me to make of this? I queried you on it but had no response.
So my question now is: 'this idiotic plot' - were you referring to 'The Chaos Experiment' or the piece by Alex Jones?
I'm making no judgement on Jones vs Malkin at this point in time, but I'm trying to see where you're coming from.

In that dark dank damp bottomless pit which is conservatism a tiny light shines. When hopelessness reigns supreme; the hopeless look for anything to latch on to. Now that Sarah Palin is nothing more than supermarket tabloid fodder; the female of the hour is Michelle Malkin. Malkin has risen to the occasion by researching and publishing a book in less than 6 months all the while blogging and sniping like a terrier that has an out of control owner.

Malkin has been scratching at the glass ceiling too long and her frustration is beginning to show. There is nothing more pathetic than an over-achieving female that behaves like a dog with a bad attitude.

shaken too much @1:40 - that's some reasonably heavy misogyny:

"female of the hour";

"There is nothing more pathetic than an over-achieving female that behaves like a dog with a bad attitude."

My suspicion - or maybe I'm giving you the benifit of the doubt - is that you're trying to do some sort of unintelligible, heavy-handed satire. But my experience is that really left-wing ("progressive") men usually have a problem with women.

It's "ironic" *, in much the way that the left-wing contempt for the working and lower-middle-class is ironic.

* signifying: ironic in an ironic sense of the term. To quote P.J. O'Rourke: "Life is full of ironies for the stupid"

He he he, did you never go into a book store, or even a Target store during the campaign? If your high brow level of reading material requires many months of research, you needn't have bothered. Obama as glorious, smartest, best looking, coolest, friendliest, history making leader EVAH! wallpapered the shelves in every department, including the children's department. They grew on the shelves like mushrooms in damp grass.
