Typical lefty debating tactic. Keep talking loudly, don't let your opponent get a word in edgewise or let him make a point. Too bad this was suppose to be an interview and not a debate. Obama and his minions are acting more and more like Hugo Chavez everyday. Descent will not be tolerated. When the civilian force that he promised to create and be funded as much as the military gets up and running things could get very nasty for our American cousins.

Oh, why did Schiff sit there for that? You can't let people do that, Peter! Get up and walk away, dude.

I have to tell all you SDA readers, having lived in New York, NYC is FULL of morons like this O-Donnell schmuck. You can't talk to them. Its impossible. You can't penetrate their delusions, and they won't shut up. You either turn you back and walk away like they're garbage (which drives them INSANE btw) or you use your boots. Boots were looking like a good option for Mr. Schiff there, I have to say.

Its like the old joke about the farmer with the mule. You hit the mule with a 2x4 right between the eyes to get its attention, THEN you can talk to it.

Posted by: The Phantom at August 10, 2009 9:56 AM

That is how the lefties do it. They have nothing so they pull out granny or the kids and call you a monster. Logic and math are not the strong points of the left.

Posted by: Honey Pot at August 10, 2009 9:59 AM

Phantom - I agree. Get up - say "bye now" and walk away. O'Donnell is a true horse's petoot. I have no idea as to why anyone who is not a Democrat would ever want to be on his or any other MSNBC show.

This video undoubtedly confirms one thing:

Who the Hell is Ed?

Posted by: Doug at August 10, 2009 10:02 AM

Ed is the best example of what the left is all about. Ed is a donkey who would love to have the job of feeding conservatives into a wood chippers in honor of his gods Obama and Karl. We've seen Ed before .... in the Third Reich.

Posted by: Momar at August 10, 2009 10:09 AM

Again , a great example of the lefty way of doing things.Create a circumstance of supposed debate ( ostensibly the premise of the interview), then turn it into an 8 min. lecture cum diatribe stating your position. All this to the exclusion of the views held by the party interviewed.

This is a classic example of Marxist tactics updated for the 21st century.Lenin used this technique to great effect when 'debating' his enemies.

Posted by: Kursk at August 10, 2009 10:17 AM

Ok Schiff is running against Dodd. Interseting but Schiff is going to get ripped as anti-American for his views on the USA and Investing abroad. Yet I think if people take the time and listen they will understand what he is saying.

Also he gets roughed up and ridiculed on CNBC, MSNBC and CNN all the time so he is used to these types of exchanges.

I was surprised in this exchange because he can get very defensive when told he is wrong and if he can keep his temper in check he can do well. O' Donnell was baiting him to that end, he did not take the bait.

Remaining calm is the best defense against the Intolerent Left.

But of course conservative town hall tactics are the soul of decorum and civility.

Posted by: philboy at August 10, 2009 10:29 AM

Regardless of a person's political leanings, how could anyone stomach watching the whole unprofessional spectacle?

Posted by: ChrisinMB at August 10, 2009 10:30 AM

That wasn't an interview, that was a bait and switch session.
Another reason, and example, that the MSM is in the pocket of Owebama.
It's gonna get uglier people, as 'the cause' continues, and expectations for BarryO get higher and the demands get more shrill.
Still, those 10% unemployed will start wondering why they've been left behind, and the magic pixie dust hasn't helped them.....

Posted by: DanBC at August 10, 2009 10:45 AM

Terrible behaviour from O'Donnell.

But to those who say that this is a "typical lefty tactic," I encourage you to watch Bill O'Reilly -- though I think O'Donnell tops O'Reilly big time.

Come to think of it, maybe this is an Irish thing.

Posted by: MJ at August 10, 2009 11:11 AM

I couldn't watch the whole thing since this Mr Ed character is so unconscionably rude. That was a typical lefty "interview" -- no attempt at gleaning information, no attempt to hear or debate various approaches or viewpoints, just 100% ad hominem, straw man. shout-down nonsense. As I've said before, I learned long ago it is pointless to attempt a rational discussion with teenagers, drunks and liberals. Although, I must say there are some teenagers who are, in fact, capable of rational discussion.

pillboy said: "But of course conservative town hall tactics are the soul of decorum and civility."

As it happens, pillboy, that is a 100% true statement. Pro-gun rallies, Tea Parties, these health care demonstrations, such things are always orderly, violence free affairs where people behave themselves in a civilized fashion. They don't wreck the place, break things or beat people up.

Congratulations on finally recognizing the truth. What took ya?

Posted by: The Phantom at August 10, 2009 11:18 AM

MJ - I watch Oreilly regularly. There is no valid comparison to be made between a typical Oreilly interview and this farce by O'Donnell. Oreilly is hard hitting but he is fair and does give his guests an opportunity to answer his questions.

If a guest tries to dance around the issue he nails them for it but at lease they get a chance to answer the damn question!

**But of course conservative town hall tactics are the soul of decorum and civility.**

If being well dressed and not agreeing with the leftist agenda is uncivil or rude.....but having leftist union thugs beating 90lb black guys is high decorum.....

Posted by: sasquatch at August 10, 2009 11:23 AM

O'Donnell couldn't carry O'Reilly's brief case. If you watch O'Reilly you would know he is fair and give his guests a good shot at making their points.

Bill will 'respectfully' disagree. He only yells at outright liars like Barney Frank ... Schiff is not a liar, if anything he is a truth teller and his record proves it.

Posted by: Momar at August 10, 2009 11:25 AM

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be living in a Pravda North America.

Posted by: ron in kelowna at August 10, 2009 11:41 AM

Not letting Schiff speak is not new. I first came across Schiff a long time ago in this "debate" with Art Laffer

http://tinyurl.com/3xmqx4

(I've posted this video before)

He was laughed at before, so we can look into the health care future with this present SDA post, and cringe.

Posted by: Erik Larsen at August 10, 2009 11:46 AM

This show was recorded live.

Schiff, after 6~7 minutes should of said as he looked in the camera:

"This is further proof that MSNBC is just another of many media outlets who are just and extention of the Obama White House trying to silence opposing views in a supposably free and democratic America"

And walked out...This would of been a much bigger bang on you tube.

I don't understand why speakers on those live TV shows don't use more of this tactic to wake the people up.

Remember how powerful that NBC reporter's 'improv' moment was on the stock exchange floor shooting "Do you want to pay for your neighbor's mortgage?"

Posted by: Right Honorable Terry Tory at August 10, 2009 11:51 AM

RHTT - agree. I'm also surprised that more people didn't protest the "cash for clunkers" program - because in essence you're paying for your neighbour's car. People are irritated because their recent "clunker" doesn't qualify because of MPG or other factors, yet their vehicles leak oil or otherwise are malfunctioning. But their neighbours have traded in their Hummer and got $4500

Posted by: Erik Larsen at August 10, 2009 12:06 PM

Momar and A Different Bob: I watch O'Reilly, and if you read what I wrote you'll see that I consider O'Donnell to be much worse. But O'Reilly too constantly interrupts and cuts people off -- though by the end of the interview his guest has usually had a chance to say what he wants. And it's usually in a pretty good spirit. But the interruptions grate, and sometimes he only hears what he wants to hear -- not always "fair and balanced."

By the way -- since one of you mentioned Barney Frank -- O'Reilly had Frank on about a month ago, and the two of them behaved almost like old chums (relatively speaking). Dennis Miller, who followed Frank on the show, wasn't impressed.

Posted by: MJ at August 10, 2009 12:12 PM

MSNBC is a complete joke.

Posted by: Soccermom at August 10, 2009 1:07 PM

while that may pass for entertainment in some quarters, perhaps in the "Crap-ola Hall of Fame", I wouldn't call it journalism, or a news type interview.

clearly there is room for that mouthpiece at the CBC.

Posted by: marc in calgary at August 10, 2009 1:12 PM

The creeps that run MSNBC must truly believe in the leftwing cause, because it isn't delivering them any ratings: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/the_scoreboard_thursday_august_6_123853.asp
Fox News is kicking their butts in all time slots. Glen Beck brings a huge audience to 5PM, which must really grate on their leftist sensibilities. The network is having a hay-day going after the socialist insanity spewing from our Democrat Congress and President Obama, and FNC's huge ratings surge shows that many Americans are becoming very skeptical of the whole "hopey/changey" deal.

Invaluable advice, IA. I watched my #1 heroine (well number 2, anyway) Caroline Glick on a TV interview in Israel. The lefty was all smooth, nice, and sweet, and Caroline, in complete frustration with the cat's suicidal delusion, lost it. The calm one wins, always. I was quite distraught!

BTW, IA, I also think "the right" should adopt the Socratic approach a bit more. Answer with questions in an attempt to get the leftie to reveal his blankness, his nullity. The left always benefits from the engineered illusion that they are the "caring" the "concerned" -- an illusion which can easily be obliterated with a laser-like question or two.

If a conservative would simply immediately stop talking when the questioner interrupts -- never talk-over the interrupter -- the end result will always be, gee, the guest never got a chance to get a word in edgewise. Ya know how the pipe-smoking silent one will always be tagged the most intelligent!

Didn't you love his repeated badgering to get Schiff to say he didn't agree with "one single line" in the bill -- a bill he himself, of course, won't have read, anymore than Dear Leader himself.

Finally, I think using phrases like "market forces" is not a good strategy. Better to offer simple everyday examples of incentivized behaviour which ALL people can relate to. One of my favourites: ever notice how people will return a shopping basket to the carousel just to get their loonie back. Behaviour modification through even tiny incentives.

Isn't there something about "putting words in one's mouth".

Posted by: Cjunk at August 10, 2009 4:13 PM

Now I know why Mark Levine calls this Network
MSLSD. This guy stinks. No real class braying about just like an ass making accusations.
How to yell your way out of being humiliated. Could be this segments name. Or shout down your host so he can't say a thing that upsets anyone in an Obamite Universe.

O'Donnell is a complete douche. He's a well-known Democratic supporter and refers to himself as a "European Socialist". He also used to be one of the writers on "The West Wing". This should be a good source for the next "Schiff was right" YouTube clip, though.

Dept. of Accuracy:

Remember how powerful that NBC reporter's 'improv' moment was on the stock exchange floor shooting "Do you want to pay for your neighbor's mortgage?"

It was on CNBC, not NBC. Rick Santelli, who made the comments and was also the first to suggest the "tea parties", is a bond market analyst, not a reporter. The moment occurred on floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, which trades futures and options, not stocks. And he shouted. There was no shooting involved.

That is all.

You couldn't get one single sentance in without being interupted,.....not untill the bullet found it's mark.
