I've often wondered if it begins to feel increasingly warm for these people, the closer they get to hell.

His successor Kim Jong Un, his third eldest son, is even more batshit crazy than "little Kim" based on the slim bit of infornation I have cobbled together.

He may throw his military weight around in order to protect his ascention because he is quite young and may have to be an even more ruthless "Dear Leader" to claim that title without contest.

I would watch for more provocations on the high seas and via missle tests, a little tension and danger from the outside is good for solidifing the base for a new dictator.

Young and Crazy is scarier than Old and Crazy in my books because with age must come some temperment and wisdom, less batshit in the crazy pie is a good thing.

I know he doesn't have the firepower to do it, but he sure could make his neighbours lives a nuclear hell. Not to mention what he might sell or just plain give to terrorists.

Kim Jong is not in charge. What I have been reading points to the military holding the reins of power and authorizing the missle launches. As has previously been stated, a paranoid leader, paranoid successor and paranoid military. There is no reasoning with the leadership of North Korea.

China has integration plans for Korea and it cannot allow another rogue despot to go screwing up relations with its global customers with a lot of hollow anti-capitalist sword rattling.

Watch for Kim's successor to be called to Beijing for a protectorate debriefing before they are allowed back to run the country.

Everyone says that Kim Jong is crazy, insane. Well, if you look at the situation tactically, He ain't. He's steadily pursuing a nefarious goal, killing who he wants, and now he'll meet his just reward. IMHO, Kim Jong is a stalinist that our leaders haven't been able to contain. Think about it. Obama doesn't have the stones or gravitas to be taken seriously by the Norks or Iran.

Pancreatic cancer may finish the scoundrel off, but, then, what happens next? You see, our measure has been taken, and the USA under Obama simply won't go the distance. When Bush spoke about bringing some one to justice, every one knew that they'd be looking at a corpse.

When no steps were taken to stop the Nork arms shipment, well, we lost stature. You can't threaten without severe action. Once the Nork atomic weapon became a reality, well, who is gonna bell the cat? So, I hope that sorry excuse for a human suffers, but I'm worried about what happens after the sucession.

I don't feel ounce of pity for him even though I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone.
Kim Jong-Un may tow China's line or become the Tito of the region and do his own thing, accelerating the Korean Peninsula's demise.
If I was South Korean, I'd leave. If I was Japan, I'd go nuclear.

after all, S Korea is high on quality control and all that. the sacrifice from an attack by the north would be to retaliate horrifically getting rid of the last outpost of stalinism and then finally the 2 Koreas would be reunited with S Korea rightfully taking 90% of the credit.

Canadian Sentinel and Knight99 have it right; he LOOKS like an evil crazy dictator from Central Casting. L'il Kim ("Mini Kim"?) could be normal-looking, which would be bad, because I think most people relate to geopolitics as if it was all a movie anyway.

If he's got a liver met, he's got less than six months; judging by his looks, probably more like three. Whoever succeeds him will be the sock puppet of the NK military.
