A celebration of network "news" ratings, fed by entertainment industry carrion, brought to you by people who cannot name the American Vice-President.
Hallelujah.

Posted by: JJM at July 7, 2009 2:50 PMMy word, what a debacle.
I've got digital cable here, and counted no less than fifteen channels with wall to wall coverage today.
That's NOT including even Fox news, and MSNBC.
And then there's the HD channels too...
Could not care less...
Oh, almost forgot. A quote from some pastor at the start of the ceremonies: "Michael Jackson was an icon and a hero to many..."
A HERO?!
Wow.

Posted by: Sam S. at July 7, 2009 2:50 PMIn Canada it has been a total wal to wall ORGASMIC Jackson week at CTV.
I rarely watch CBC, but today Martha Stewart was a breath of fresh air.
My back-of-the-envelope calculation says that about a quarter million people die each day on this earth, give or take. Those people who insist I grieve over Michael Jackson will have to convince me that he is more deserving than any of those people. So far, I don't see it.

The service I guess that is what it is actually pretty well done. Magic Johnson and Lionel Ritchie were very poignant. However Sharpton, That big beast white chick who is still a Virgin at 40 something Brooke what's her name was really insipid. '
More or less a nice enough service.

...And the decline of Western civilization continues unrestrained...
Stopped by Fox News for 5 min. just as Martin Luther King Jr was winding down and his wife was winding up.
The blacks (or is that racist?) have the rhetoric for such an occasion unlike any other.
You could almost get caught up in the thing.
When I heard last night that MJs idea of going to sleep was to have all the lights on, classical music throughout the house, while he had one eye on a Disney DVD, and a book to read, all at the same time he was begging for a sedative, then I guess what we can wish for him is the sleep of the just.
Rest, Michael, rest.
On the noon news, here on the left coast, it was reported that Obama wasn't really ticked with all the attention going to the MJ send off. Obama quoted saying soon people woill get back to thinking about nuclear weapons.
Go figure, maybe BO didn't like MJ's kind of Hope and Change.
I'm starting to think that the MSM had MJ bumped off so that they could cash in on the ratings bonanza. And if it doesn't result in increased audiences and ad rates, at least they have a better excuse for ignoring real news.
Posted by: Kathryn at July 7, 2009 3:35 PMGood one Kathryn.
Maybe the MSM can rig it so that MJ isn't interred at all but instead is shipped around the world like the Olympic Torch on the flatbead of a former Pepsi delivery truck with Stevie Wonder as the driver and Al Sharpton as the advance man preparing the crowds ahead on the route.
The MSM could get endless headlines out that almost hourly.
Too bad Evel Knievel is dead, he coulda jumped the Pepsi truck at the really special venues.
Actually Kathryn MJ was bumped off to take public attention off of Pelosi's Cap and Trade bill that was getting voted on that same week.
Posted by: Jeff Cosford at July 7, 2009 3:49 PMOz, my thought is why waste a potentially useful corpse by just burying it?! Maybe they could do a Lenin-in-Red-Square type display thing with The Gloved One's corpse.
Freeze the body, maintain in a sealed refrigerated glass display case as the main exhibit at Neverland theme park. Have The Gloved One's music playing in the background. Even though he's dead, he could still make a lot of money for the family.
Posted by: Dave in Pa at July 7, 2009 3:55 PMMichael Jackson pickled in perpetuity; why not he was most of his life. Let's just recall the good stuff and inter the rest with the body, he's in God's hands now.

Pretty well produced for such short notice.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would like this creep, but I am baffled as to what use blacks would have for him. This is a guy who apparently was ashamed of being black and went to extreme measures not to be. How desparate does one have to be see as a hero a guy who despised everything you are. Weird.

"Surrounded by her aunts and uncles, Paris told the audience that her "daddy" was the best father one could imagine."
Right...if you lived in Africa, surrounded by poverty and aids infected men who are dying. Or perhaps if you are a girl who is growing up wearing a burkha in Saudi Arabia. Or your dad and all of your male relatives are in jail and you never see them. or you suffer from molestation and daily beating from your father.
Then he might be the best father one could imagine. If he doesn't inadvertantly drop you from a balcony.

Yeah, maybe that's the way to go, I remember Tim Leary before he went sayin' "We were coming down to the wire and had to make a decsion," so they cut off his head and shot it into outer space, so like, you know, Tim is still up there smilin' down on all of us, beamin' benevolent thought vibrations helpin' us turn on, tune in and drop out and do hits of 4-way sunshine...
But like, hey, what about the option of cryogenically freezin' Michael's body, and, you know, putting his brain back in his head and stuff like that, but you know, what if in a thousand years from now the Muslims hit the power grid and all the containers get all unfrozen or somethin' and leave everybody on their zombie-like life support system dragging their way around Los Angeles and causin' trouble 'n stuff?
But like, if you shoot his head into outer space like Leary then what about doing DNA tests to find out who the real parents of those kids are? I mean, there Michael would be in outer space with Leary and you'd have to use space shuttles or shit to get out of the orbit to, you know, to ascertain the information.
So maybe, like, you know, doin' him over in plasticine like the monkey would be all right, but if, you know, you have to go penetrate that plastic for the DNA or some deep shit like that, you can't just have some redneck knee-jerk answers to that sort of thing.
So, you know, like you gotta think about this shit and figure it all out because you know, like, it would be easy to make an error here and you wanna to this shit right.

Posted by: Edward Teach at July 7, 2009 6:58 PMI don't like this hype fest anymore than you guys do but one thing can be said for Michael Jackson; that there has been few individuals who have donated as much as he has to charity. His donations over his career have topped over 100 million dollars...and due to many of his songs being dedicated to charity, they will continue to generate money. Many of the charities he supported were rather silly (random childrens camps) but he also helped set up burn units in hospitals, etc. etc...see a very complete list here:

Posted by: mike at July 7, 2009 8:21 PMSoccermom,
When I originally pointed out that his children were quite white, it was not as a reproach to the children.
More that I find it curious that he was so adored by African-Americans, yet he seems to have done just about everything to become a white guy.
I had never seen the children and had no idea that they must not carry his DNA (it has to be impossible), I guess to assure that they would be white?
My other surprise would have to be that for someone who saw himself as he did, that he would not want to father biological children. Unless he could not, in which case why not be truthful?

If the autopsy rumors are even half true the "real" story is how MJ and his entourage pulled off this farce right in the face of the not so observant MSM. Complicit is what the media is. I feel sorry for his "kids". They will probably get the same "treatment", i.e., ignore what is as plain as the noses on their faces and promote them as celebs or as the "talent".

He gave more money to charities than anyone in history.
