David Akin Calls It A "Surprising" Error

Which is curious, to say the least. It's Jane Taber, after all.

Well you know Jane only sees politically correct women. So just like Maggie Thatcher couldnt have been a woman, neither is any female that has close ties to Harper.

You will know change is really happening at the Globe when that Hot or Not column disappears. I can't believe Ms Taber wants to publish it, it was and remains an embaressment.

Come on stackhouse, spike it.

Giggles does it again.

She is such a gift to journalism.

Why isn't my favorite Zio-shill site covering the lawsuit of Lesley Hughes against the so-called "Jewish groups"(really political Zionist fronts for the terrorist state of Isr-el)?

Zionist groups should be declared terrorist groups, because of their material and moral support for terrorist Isr-el, and should have their funds seized, and their operations halted in Canada.

The holohoax museum millions should be spent to feed poor people in Winnipeg, not for a garish glass edifice, monument to the treasonous Zionists hubris and chutzpah, and stranglehold over any questioning of their lies and creative math(like 6 million - 3 million = 6 million).

So let me get this straight. Jane puts out a demonstrably false and damaging accusation in the Mop and Pail and it gets corectedin a little heard of blog. Seems reasonable.

Posted by: Brian Mallard at June 27, 2009 1:44 PM

I think Jane Tabor only knows what she reads in the paper. Have you noticed she just quotes other reporter's stories and then adds snide anti conservative remarks and then the "insider gossip" giggle.
Does anybody know how someone like this got her job? Who is she married to, related to or have poop on to be such a blatant empty head that she is given the right to translate important political stories to the country.
It's truly bizarre. Let's dig up HER story for a change.

Posted by: Lorraine at June 27, 2009 1:44 PM

Lefties like to portray conservatives as being neanderthal, thuggish, multi-millionaire business-owning, bible-thumping unsophisticated brutes who regularly abuse their female partners. Most assumptions start out with something like, "When did you stop beating your wife?".

Lefties can often be rightly compared to shit-flinging monkeys. OK, no, sorry, that's not a valid comparison, as monkeys don't have a worldwide mechanism for spreading the news that shit should be flung.

But wait! There's always the Toronto Star!

Posted by: PiperPaul at June 27, 2009 1:53 PM

What bugs me is why people always assume that IF there are women in a committee, then, the agenda would be for a process of 'consensus' rather than 'adversarial'.

What utter nonsense. Since when are women innately desirous of consensus? Women can be, if not more, political, adversarial, back-stabbing, power-hungry, than a man. Just think of Nancy Pelosi. Or Adrienne Clarkson. Olivia Chow. And how about the many on Mayor Miller's Council?
And Jane Taber herself - constantly harping and bickering against Harper.

Posted by: ET at June 27, 2009 2:02 PM

Whatever happened to merit hiring? Should not the Prime MInister or any and every organization hire the best PERSON for the job - male or female. ?

What woman would want to be hired because she is a "token" for some kind of strange "equality" which has nothing to do with performance and credentials? If you were hiring for your company and had a stack of resumes would you separate them into men and women and then hire an equal number of each - even if there were, say, more women better qualified than men or vice versa?

Why should we not expect as good a management team as possible for our government - gender neutral.

Posted by: Lorraine at June 27, 2009 2:10 PM

It's called agenda reporting.

You start with a point of view (i.e. "Harper is anti-woman") and start writing. If you hit a snag because the facts don't support your argument just make stuff up!

This technique has reached it's high water mark in reporting on the so called anthropogenic global warming phenomena.

Posted by: Bart F. at June 27, 2009 2:22 PM

Correct Lorraine.

The general guiding principle is what is between one's ears, as opposed to what is between one's legs, should be the primary consideration for short listing candidates.

So far sex on the job doesn't seem to be the overriding concern for hiring practices, save for the 'oldest profession'.

Arguably, Taber might be accused of 'media whoring'.

What's the truth have to do with anything? Soon we'll hear someone else saying the same made up lies and spouting them as gospel since they read it in the Mop & Pail. The circle remains unbroken.

"Lefties can often be rightly compared to shit-flinging monkeys."

Thanks, PiperPaul, for that hilarious (and oh, so true) metaphor on that strange species, Leftus Progressivus.

It is nice to see David Akin try to uphold the integrity of the media by daring to challenge the outright inaccuracy and partisanship of a fellow member of the media Jane Taber.
Akin is doing the job that Globe and Mail's editor has failed to do for years in reigning in Jane Taber and insisting that truth from a journalist should still be number one consideration and not selling papers. Let's see if I am wrong and the editor insists that Taber admits her guilt and issues an apology for her inexcusable slight of women in Harper's administration not only in the Globe and Mail but in a letter to the PMO.

"shit-flinging monkeys."

Ah, yes, the Owe got his climate tax through the houses!!!!

Posted by: GYM at June 27, 2009 3:01 PM

Stephen Harper doesn't have a single senior woman.

They forgot to mention Jennifer Lynch.

Posted by: glasnost at June 27, 2009 3:29 PM

OK, I know they're not talking about civil servants.

Posted by: glasnost at June 27, 2009 3:30 PM

dave in pa - great name; Leftus Progressivus. Thanks. I hope its use spreads..like a virus. The Leftus Progressivus Virus.

Posted by: ET at June 27, 2009 3:49 PM

A couple of weeks ago Jane's 'hot or not' bumf listed Harper as 'not',of course. The reason for this; John Turner,on his eightieth birthday, said he didn't really like Harper. That was enough for PMSH to make the 'not' list.Rubbish!

Posted by: wallyj at June 27, 2009 3:51 PM

It's great he covered this, but he refers to it as an error, which she had to know wasn't true. Uh, doesn't that make it more like a flat out lie?

Posted by: percy omnipotent at June 27, 2009 4:27 PM

Remarkable. Your classic air-head. The model for the blonde jokes and she is supposed to be taken seriously as a political writer?

Give me a bloody break. I always wonder when some bimbo like Giggles ends up with a decent job and lots of talented and energetic men and women are still looking, what she did to get the job or at least who's she related to?

Flys in the face of reason.

Lorraine I agree with you but I have worked with some women under the 'hired for the ovaries' rule. If you get paid 80K, can go 2 years without putting in a full week, don't get blamed for anything and others are expected to do your work. Then get promoted based on 'merit' all you lose is self respect and you are paid well for it. Oh and you can also now take stress leave with no medical certificate, medical, dental, good pension etc. etc. Makes for a truly toxic workplace.

Cross posted at Reader Tips today:

"Jane Taber's a horse's ass.

"And what's with the new hairdo and the weird eye makeup? 'Looks like she's trying to make herself look younger. She just looks like an older woman trying to take a few years off her face. 'Didn't work."

That "insider gossip giggle" (Lorraine) is maddening as Hell, and from Akin's article, it's clear that Giggles is a stranger to the truth as well as a light-weight Barbie doll.

WHY does she work for the Probe and Fail/CTV and WHO'S responsible? Who's she related to (honest, I wrote that before I read your post, Pat! Nepotism's GOT to be an issue here ...)?

Posted by: batb at June 27, 2009 5:29 PM

Jane would be hard pressed to crack the starting lineup at a one room school newspaper.
Basically she's a gossip columnist and a lame one at that.

Lorraine

The first rule of affirmative action is: nobody talks about affirmative action!

I'm not certain, by I doubt when someone is hired for quotas, they're not told that's why they've been hired.

"If you were hiring for your company and had a stack of resumes would you separate them into men and women and then hire an equal number of each"

This is the unfortunate reality. I work for a large engineering company where as you might guess approximately 85% of the employees in technical, engineering and project departments are men; it's the opposite in the administration departments. In a large company you have many committees (ie... environment, social, fire, safety ect), you get my point. Every single one of these committees are headed and dominated by women. Why? My guess is they are "make work" projects to help keep women busy.

Since we're in the private sector, these pseudo tasks are kept under control; yet they are still an unnecessary drag on business. I believe these types of pseudo tasks and the people who do this type of "work" are out of control in the public sector, and in the public sector unions. The drag these people put on the companies and governments they work for is only tolerable because of the bottomless pockets of the taxpayer.JMO

Jane still writing her gossip column? A reporter she is not; otherwise Ms Percky would try to be unbias.

I turn her off whenever I see her because she is such a fake journalist.

Posted by: Fiumara at June 27, 2009 7:06 PM

Tabloid Jane is not to be taken seriously. She's not hot, she's a twit and has about as much credibility as any town gossip. CTV is no better if they allow such errors to pass as fact.

Posted by: Liz J at June 27, 2009 7:22 PM

It is worth noting that akins himself got caught torqing a story on magazine subsidies by this blog and others.

Posted by: Gord Tulk at June 27, 2009 7:30 PM

All men, all women doesn't matter. Still politics. Still sucks arse. Still means more lies.

Posted by: Joel Schroeder at June 27, 2009 9:57 PM

Taber - "Stephen Harper doesn't have a single senior woman"

Well the Globe and Mail doesn't have ANY women journalists on staff, so who cares?

Posted by: richfisher at June 28, 2009 10:48 AM

"Jane Taber's a horse's ass."
Hey, what do you have against horses anyway?

Posted by: Texas Canuck at June 28, 2009 2:52 PM

Hey, Texas Canuck! Nothing. 'Guess I'd better find a better analogy.

How about Jane Taber's a Librano Liar?

Somehow, it just doesn't have the same "ring" to it.
