Hey Canada, You Voted For Him

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!

Toronto Star, March 2008: "Obama would win in Canada: Poll"

Macleans, June 2009: "The new President’s ambitions could have a devastating effect on our economy"

(Admittedly, for those of us who told you so, it's less a "juxtapose!" than a "no shit, Sherlock".)

Juxtapose - what you never see in Canada's MSM. (would negate their dumbing-down)

Posted by: ron in kelowna at June 25, 2009 12:22 PM

Mrs Clinton was in town recently doing the bidding of Obammasiah and told Canadians that the USA doesn't want our dirty energy from the Oil Sands.

I think she expected shock and grovelling and a promise to "clean it up".

I hope our reply was "Well have it your way, we'll just sell it to the Chinese . . . they are lined up and waiting".

Posted by: Fred at June 25, 2009 12:23 PM

Admittedly, for those of us who told you so, it's less a "juxtapose!" than a "no shit, Sherlock".

That's the QOTD!

Every day I get a compelling urge to do the leftist thing and buy Canadian or Chinese or Indian or anything but American.

JUST BECAUSE. But being a free market kind of guy it usually passes on my way to WalMart LOL

Posted by: the bear at June 25, 2009 12:28 PM

Here's another juxtapose from a US Angle

SC Governer (R) has an affair and resigns while it dominates the news cycle.

Bill Clinton (Fmr President, spouse of Secretary of State) goes to Argentina and has a "private show" at a strip club. Uhm, not even an dis-honourable mention? Oh wait, Bill Clinton (D), the important Letter at the end.

Posted by: Fred2 at June 25, 2009 12:44 PM

Just read the comments on the article.

How did such negative views on Chairman Zero make it past the censors at McCommies?

Posted by: Doug at June 25, 2009 12:44 PM

Earlier I had made an offer where we would trade Obama to Canada for three NHL draft picks, to be named later.

I will now change that offer to where you take Obama and you can have the first three draft picks to go with him.

Take The First Lady (sic) with the deal and you can have all the Red Wings.

We'll also throw in a new bus that has had no one thrown under it yet.

Biden is a free agent. His thinking process is whimsical, and you can have him to use as a hood ornament.

I must now go sit in the corner and contemplate how it is that we got where we find ourselves.

Obama is still admired in Canada. TVO had a session, which I could only watch in part, but the rhetoric was all about 'how cool Obama is; how he never seems to get upset; how he just jokes along'.

Cool?? How dumb can they be? He's not cool. He's cold. He's indifferent. His pathology means that he is completely unable to feel any empathy for anyone outside of his realm of control. If he feels he can control you, he's interested in you. If he feels he can't control you...you simply cease to exist. That's not 'cool'; that's a psychological inability to feel empathy.

As to the results of Obama - check out the world. Obama has enabled a surge in totalitarian states 'feeling their power'.

N. Korea has told him that they'll do what they want, launch what they want..and where; build nuclear as they wish..and Obama can stuff it.

Same with Iran. Ahmadinejad has essentially told Obama the same - get stuffed.

The old allies of the West? With Obama's deliberate insults to them, they've moved away. He got no help for Afghanistan, no cooperation with 'stimulus'. Nothing.

Internal affairs? He's able to pass legislation only by virtue of the Democratic control of Congress. Not by any validity in that legislation. And remember..he doesn't even give Congress the time to READ the legislation!

He's able to pass Motions in Congress by that Democratic dominance AND by his emotional manipulation. Note that his strategy of misinformation (the Cairo speech) and emotional manipulation (Europe, ME) doesn't work without a majority of Congressman. If Obama doesn't have the vote - then, his rhetorical strategies (misinformation and emotional manipulation) don't work.

At any rate - Obama's tactic in Congress is emotional manipulation. He threatens them with serial crisis if they don't do what he wants. He insists that IF they don't pass the stimulus, an economic collapse is imminent. Rubbish. His pork stimulus has done zilch for the economy, increased unemployment and exponentially increased the deficit.

Now, he's threatening that health care is in crisis despite over 70% of Americans being satisfied with their current health care. He says that if Congress doesn't pass His Bill, a health crisis will result.
Why does he want it? Certainly not for the welfare of Americans.

He wants it because it would insure illegal immigrants and others - and he's attempting to get them amnesty..and the vote. The vote, the vote.
That's also why ACORN is involved, to grab that Latino vote for him.

America is slowly starting to realize that there's something very wrong about Obama..but..how soon will they do something? Meanwhile, the dictators of the world, were never part of his myth, sees an opening for expanding their powers - and they are doing it. While America is trapped within the Obama daze.

"If" Obama ran for PM--he would win.

And "IF" my grandma had testicles--she would be my grandpa!

Posted by: True Blue at June 25, 2009 1:19 PM

[Nat. Post] Obama admits to still smoking infrequently, however, not in the office nor in front of the kids. And he just passed anti-smoking leglislation!

He's anything but cool! And G.H. Bush hated broccoli. What is it with these presidents? They're supposed to be leaders!

Sheesh! ;-)

Posted by: PhilM at June 25, 2009 1:19 PM

ET ... you forgot to mention US security. Obama is taking a huge risk by essentially demonizing ALL previous US foreign policies , and generally apologizing for the US being successful (shades of Trudeau here).

The average US voter is not as compliant as dumb Canadians , and my guess is there are many who are successful and resent Obama apologizing for success.

WRT to foreign policy , Obama , like Jimmy Carter before him is seen as week by US enemies. If there is any terrorist strike in the US , Obama's presidency will effectively be finished ... but so far he doesn't seem to see the risk that he is taking.

If you look at the Rassmussen poll , the US is roughly split down the middle on support for Obama , even with virtually ALL the slobbering MSM worshiping him and covering his back ... any significant negative event could put him on the skids.

That Macleans article grieves me.

The U.S. has gone off the deep end. Why so many extremes in that country?

Where is the sober second thought? I keep waiting and waiting...

Frankly I am worried the elephant has gone rogue and Canada, especially AB and SK will be side-swiped in the process.

I am not so sure diverting supply towards Asia is going to change anything when our economies are so integrated. Not only are the Democrats willing to hobble themselves, but they seem eager to do the same to everyone else inside their sphere.

Very vexing.

Posted by: Smoke Eater at June 25, 2009 1:29 PM

brian - yes, and Obama has reduced missile defense as well. I suspect that the only reason that he maintains even an Afghan front is because if he withdrew, he's lose the support of the military - and, he's afraid of that loss.

His narcissism leads him to believe that any and all can be charmed by his..ahh. charm, to be within his control. He has no means of dealing with people who disagree - other than to disparage them, fire them (the IG); he can't debate with them because he doesn't operate by his thinking about policies but by whether or not you are controllable by him.

If someone is outside of his control, they don't exist - which is why he reacted slowly and with indifference to Iran. It didn't exist. You only exist when you are either controlled by him or potentially controllable.

Rasmussen had his ratings in the negative for two days; now, he's at plus 2. Very low.

As I said, he's only able to pass legislation because the Democrats control Congress and he operates with a disdain for democracy - refusing to allow time for debate, questions..and even reading the bills!

As far as the MSM, thankfully, there's FOX news. But on CNN, there's Lou Dobbs who questions, and criticizes.

The danger is not so much that American policies will hobble us, but that Canadian policy-makers will follow their lead right over the edge of the cliff.

We've already seen it with the "stimulus," in particular the auto industry bailouts. Jim Prentice is right on-board talking about environmental regulations that will be "commensurate" with US regulations, although he doesn't know what those are.

Realize this, intrepid leaders: If you detach yourselves from the American locomotive, then yes...you'll slow down. But isn't that infinitely preferable to ending up in the same twisted wreck as them at the bottom of the cliff?

Posted by: RW in Big C at June 25, 2009 1:54 PM

They don'need our stinking oil. After the carbon tax they may not import oil at all. Nothing manafactured or jobs to go to.. nothing to ship.

Posted by: Speedy at June 25, 2009 1:55 PM

RW in Big C ...well put ... "...Realize this, intrepid leaders: If you detach yourselves from the American locomotive, then yes...you'll slow down. But isn't that infinitely preferable to ending up in the same twisted wreck as them at the bottom of the cliff? ..."

I winder if Baird or Clement have even read about what is happening in Australia , who have finally come to their senses ... Australia generates 80% of the electricity from coal , and draconian climate legislation would cripple their economy and export jobs. ... here in Canada I don't see any Tory politicians challenging the lunatic environmentalists.

I have funded and voted for Harper & Co. , but increasingly I am disenchanted by the Tory government . I see Harper as afraid to take any stand , be it CHRC or Obama's insane Cap & Trade , or Jim Prentice slobbering over the CBC as though it is a wonderful institution worthy of our endless support.

A vote for Osbama like voting for Biffy or Lay-ton. They promise everything but reality. The LIEberals and Non Democradic Party are basically the same and want the Canadians to know that they support Obama.

I get the impression that Biffy wants to be in the President's inner circle - which would be great for Biffy because Canada is just a place for a visit. He would support the USA just like he does the PC's - anything for a vote.

Although, I get the feeling that the PC's want to control us through:

- controling the internet without a warrent - just like China

- serach your car/truck without a warrent - just like China

- apparently keeping the funding for HRC - thereby giving support to HRC

- buying into the global warming scandle - by going along with Obama and his climate change policies

- moving slowly on the CWB - giving the farmers a choice to be under the dictatorship.

Other than that Harper is 98% better than Obama/Biffy/Talaban Jack/the Greenies

Snake Oil

Ladies and gentlemen, attention please
Come in close so everyone can see
I got a tale to tell
A listen don't cost a dime
And if you believe that we're gonna get along just fine
Now I've been travelin' all around
I heard trouble's come to your town
Well I've got a little somethin'
Guaranteed to ease your mind
It's call Snake Oil y'all
It's been around for a long, long time

Say, your crops'll burn if it don't rain soon
Ain't seen a drop since the tenth of June
Well I can open up the sky
People never fear
If you ain't impressed yet, just tell me what you wanna hear

Well you lost your farm so you moved to town
You get a job, they shut the factory down
Now you sit around all day long feelin' sad and blue
You need Snake Oil y'all, tell you what I'm gonna do

I can heal the sick, I can mend the lame
And the blind shall see again, it's all the same

Well ain't your President good to you
Knocked 'em dead in Libya, Grenada too
Now he's taking his show a little further down the line
Well, 'tween me and him people, you're gonna get along just fine

Snake Oil
Songwriter: Steve Earle
Album: Copperhead Road

* Aside from the Libya and Grenada reference, not a bad commentary on 'bama.

Just your Chicago politics at work.
He'll pass legislation for the illegal imigration vote soon so he can get their vote.
Americans are going to be stuck with him for 8 years if the sensible democrats don't get a grip on their problem leader.

I sure hope you are right about America waking up to the One. My fear is that a nation dumb enough to have voted him into office in the first place is one fully capable of taking a long time to come to that realization, especially with the MSM doing their best to make sure it does not happen.

The polls I have seen show general disfavour with his policies (a good start) but still show his personal popularity hovering around 60%.

Posted by: bob c at June 25, 2009 3:11 PM

"The polls I have seen show general disfavour with his policies (a good start) but still show his personal popularity hovering around 60%."

This poll was conducted amoungst informed and zombies.

The informed will likely disfavour his policies but still might like his personality.

The zombie will only recongnise his personality which he likes and surely attach his policies as positive too: This skews the result to what it is.

Approving a politician for his personality for me is the same as liking a baseball pitcher because he has style and is good looking even if his pitching average is down the toilet. ILLOGICAL.

"The move will disappoint many in the green movement,".
Translation: O'Dirty Tar Baby.
...-

"Security trumps environment as Obama gives green light to US consumption of Alberta’s oil.

President Obama, in close discussions with Energy Secretary Stephen Chu and Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach is to give the green light for US consumption of oil sand oil, or rather the import of fuels considered among the “dirtiest” in the fuel market. In a meeting last week, President Obama decided that the Canada’s oil sands represented an important part of national security supplies for petroleum in America’s near future.

The move is not without immediate precedent, as Francois Cardinal at cybercress.ca notes, both Hillary Clinton had offered support for oil sands at a recent conference on energy security, and Obama’s national Security adviser General Jim Jones was similarly adamant that the US would be foolish to reject the possibility of a stable source from a close partner in Canada.

The move will disappoint many in the green movement,".

What do Trudeau and Obama have in common? Lots. Both were spoiled-rotten socialists who gambled away their country's dignity and future, who appeased tyrants and alienated their own countrymen and flaunted their own narcissism. Yet, for whatever reason, people drooled over them.

I wonder if somebody [Petraeus] explained to him the carbon impact of fighting a war when somebody seizes our oil jugular, located in a hostile region, say Iran siezed the Saudi oil fields, as opposed to getting our oid from a region where the shouts of "Death to America" are mitigated by a somewhat shared culture? Naaah!

If the U.S. passes Waxman-Markey ("chairman Pelosi" wants to introduce it in the House on Friday), it has tremendous implications for Canada. Any exporting nation that doesn't have a similar (draconian) tax, will be subject to protectionist duties in the U.S.

The greenies of the world can spare me the argument that this is all for the good of the environment ... like one tenth of a degree over the next 50 years!! Its nothing but a poorly disguised massive tax grab and another way to hollow out the working class.

The American Medical Association has weighed in on Obama's healthcare plan.

The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.

Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.

Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the Pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!'

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it.

Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing..

The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter."

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.

The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas and the Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the Proctologists won out, saying to leave the entire decision up to the assholes in Washington.

Saw this comment at the link and found it quite interesting. Anyone care to verify some of the assertions?

"Mike · 17 hours ago

This talk of so-called man made "Global Warming" and "Climate Change" is pure nonsense.
A pseudo-science for sure!
Go to the library and research for yourself in any reputable encyclopedia Earth's atmosphere.
You will find that Carbon Dioxide makes up something like just 0.04% of the content of our atmosphere. (Less than half of one-tenth of one percent). Yet, they tell us that's the #1 greenhouse gas and somehow it's trapping heat.
So for the last couple of centuries, after burning up all those fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum, there exists only this tiny percentage of CO2 gas.
The Sun is the true cause of any & all warming/climate change on Earth. There will be fluctuations in it's output.
The entire history of mankind (3 million years) is but the blink of an eye compared to the lifespan of the Sun & it's planets.
ALL OF HUMANITY, AND ALL OF OUR ACTIVITIES ARE TINY & INSIGNIFICANT IN COMPARISON WITH THE SIZE AND SCALE OF OUR EARTH.
These facts can be confirmed arithmetically:
If all 7 billion of us could somehow be gathered together in one place at the same time, we would neatly fill the U.S. State of Rhode Island's 1,000 square mile area. Now go & look at a globe and see for yourself how tiny Rhode Island is, compared to the Earth.
If every man, woman and child were each given an acre of land, then the entire world population of 7 billion people would take up an area about the size of the African continent.
Do a little research on your own. Do the math. The information is all there. There is only one truth. "

Sorry, Canadians. "He's just not that into you." (Or the British, for that matter.)

And that is one of the many reasons I voted against Obama last November. I think the US should treat friends better than enemies.

Posted by: Jim Miller at June 26, 2009 11:07 AM

If every person takes up 2 square feet of space, then you would need a space a little smaller than Alaska at 1.3 million sq kilometers. That guy must be stacking them if he got everyone onto Rhode Island.

The earth has roughly 149 million sq kilometers of land.
