Tony Blair's Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch, and Canterbury is ruled "sufficiently gay";

A government watchdog decided that Canterbury in Kent does enough to promote homosexual culture, rejecting a complaint by local activists.

[...]

As part of the investigation, the council had to prove its inclusiveness by giving details of "touring plays and musicals, for example, which would be of interest to the LGBT community".

And it had to show that it had "put forward suggestions for small events that it might help fund, as well as proposals for other events such as exhibitions".

Rob Davies, spokesman for the council, said: "Obviously we're delighted with the outcome of the investigation.

Wow. You can't make this stuff up. A farcical tragedy. Perhaps those are of interest to the lgbt community.

I'm starting to think the UK is completely mad, how did this happen? Aside from it been taken over by left wing nuts.

The central place in one such exhibition would belong to a giant fagot. Way to go!

"I get the feeling it is precious because Canterbury has a cathedral and history. I think they think the gay community will turn it into Sodom and Gomorrah."

Perhaps not both, but certainly Sodom.

As Kathy titled it: "There is NO gay agenda, you bigoted troglodyte!"

You get the feeling they have 'way too many bureaucrats sitting around in cube farms thinking up stuff to do?

"Hey, I know! Lets mount an investigation to see if Canterbury is gay enough. That ought to keep us going for months!"

Britain is not the only place thats whaky.

Swedish Parents Keep 2-Year-Old’s Gender Secret

Meet Pop, a two-and-a-half-year-old Swedish child whose parents are refusing to say whether the apple of their eye is a boy or a girl.

Pop’s parents, both 24, made a decision when their baby was born to keep Pop’s sex a secret. Aside from a select few — those who have changed the child’s diaper — nobody knows Pop’s gender; if anyone enquires, Pop’s parents simply say they don’t disclose this information.

In an interview with newspaper Svenska Dagbladet in March, the parents were quoted saying their decision was rooted in the feminist philosophy that gender is a social construction.

bob, you got it

Posted by: Ken at June 25, 2009 11:59 AM

Kate, you might want to consider re-naming the "Tony Blair's Britain" thread updates to "Gordon Brown's Britain", since Gordy is now the Labour Predator-in-Chief

Posted by: Dave in Pa at June 25, 2009 12:20 PM

and you wonder why the fascists are gaining ground...

One day the people will wake up, the fascists will have won and the people will come to the surprising conclusion (to them) that the fascists are to the far left of the labour party, not the right like they've been told by the lying jackels in the media and universities.

Then we in North America can let them in on the also surprising (to them) news that we aren't bailing their worthless arses out of the 3rd world war the wankers have started in less than 100 years.

No investigation into the gay friendliness of Finsbury Park Mosque? Colour me surprised.

Posted by: Mississauga Matt at June 25, 2009 12:46 PM

WTF? The Gay Household seal of Approval?

The Government will conduct random audits of community gayness and issue a rating based on the Terror Alert Colour System

Pink = Flaming Gay, Tax discount for Fashion Sense
Peach = Gay but not over the Top
Lime = Just Gay Enough - Perfect
Red = Only have a Parade
Blue = No Gay Bars at all

What if you are really gay but not so good on the bi-sexual front.... is it weighted by sexual orientation?

Ok HRC do not freak out! This is HUMOUR. Calm Down Perez!

I still like that Jack Nicholson movie line in which he's talking to a very sick gay. "Don't worry, you'll be back on your knees in no time." :-)

Why is a minority- a subculture marked by its sexual practices- given funding and even power over everyone else?

Posted by: Osumashi Kinyobe at June 25, 2009 3:48 PM

It's a liberal thing...

"Look at you. You got a lady?"
"No."
"That's 'cause you're hangin' out with the virus breeders, Jimmy. VB's. You into that yet? Bitin' the pillow?"
"No."
"You will. It's a liberal thing. One day you're saving the rain forest, the next, you're chuggin' c*ck. Am I wrong?"

just a little more shit on the stick eh.

Dave
Kate I'm sure knows Gordy is in number 10, But when the last election was held it was B-liar that was the leader of the magnificent shower of shit we have as a supposed government. The socialist liberal tossers now destroying the country have never gone to the people with Gordy as their leader. I know its pedantic but we don't vote for our PM we vote for the party and as I say last time we did that B-liar was the leader.

Jason, go read some history before commenting you just come across as stupid

Meanwhile as I'm sure you'll all agree its going to be great fun watching the queers when they finally realise there is no more money to go around and the rag-heads are running the show.

WTF has happened to my homeland? : (

Posted by: Jooge at June 25, 2009 8:23 PM

While this is ridiculous, what about our federal government deciding to give Toronto's gay pride $400,000 of our tax dollars? How many other Canadian cities received funding for a small minority identified by their sexual practices?

Posted by: Alain at June 25, 2009 10:10 PM

I guess England is Gay & Merry.

"Why is a minority- a subculture marked by its sexual practices- given funding and even power over everyone else?"

It isn't really -- it's just a few squeaky wheels who think they should get more grease than everybody else. I doubt you could find music or art that is specifically "of interest to the LGBT community" any more than to the white community or black community or Asian community.

Meanwhile ... "gender is a social construction"

Nope, gender is a fact of reality. "Social construction", however, is a fiction found inside tiny minds.

Anyway, if all these race/sex/LGBT designations are merely "social constructs", how on earth could you find art and music that is of interest to any of them?? As usual, the leftie crackpots are trying to have their cake and eat it too.

This "inquiry" cost thousands of pounds for what? I used to live in Canterbury. I went to University there, it's a nice city. Not much different to most UK cities of the same size. It has it's share of binge drinkers but quite why the LGBT community want to single it out is beyond me. If the pink pound crowd want somewhere to go there is always Brighton. One good thing about Canterbury in the past was it only had one night club. The city council would not allow it to stay open beyond midnight (IIRC). It made for a much more civilised night life when you no longer had to contend with drunken yahoos shouting the odds at 2am. No doubt that has been abolished as well in Bliar's Britain.

My former colleague who lives in Canterbury has a pretty good take on it.
