We're still on the road, killing a day off half way through this soggy trip through Idaho and Montana. We've had lots of success in the ring, picking up 4 majors and 6 reserves with the crew I have in the truck, including a big Best of Breed win from the Bred-by class for my young female, Can.Ch.Minuteman Madrid yesterday in Blackfoot, ID. Three more points and she's finished her title.
If you have never had the opportunity to drive the various highways in this region of the world, you owe it to yourself to do it some day. Great Falls, Missoula, Helena, Butte, Bozeman, Yellowstone, Missoula - you cannot truly appreciate the landscape here without experiencing it in person.
Thanks to the guest bloggers, once again, for picking up the slack around here. I'll be back in around a week.
Posted by Kate at June 15, 2009 10:37 AMCongratulations on the wins Kate. You rule.
Posted by: Canadian Infidel at June 15, 2009 10:52 AMAgreed. Congratulations on the wins. And you do indeed rule.
Posted by: ET at June 15, 2009 10:54 AMKate, SDA is "Best in Breed"
Posted by: PhilM at June 15, 2009 11:07 AMCongrats Kate and dog treats all around.
Posted by: Speedy at June 15, 2009 11:07 AMIt must be a pain in the butt having to call out "Can.Ch.Minuteman Madrid" whenever you want her to come to you. ;^)
Posted by: andycanuck at June 15, 2009 11:09 AMCouldn't agree with you more Kate. The drive west from Minot N.D. through Montana, across Yellowstone, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Salt Lake, Vegas, L.A., etc. has to be one of the most spectacular on the continent. We've done it several times and I think about it every day. Not to mention some of the best people that you could ever meet. Congratulations on the wins.
Posted by: Free Thinker at June 15, 2009 11:37 AMContinued , good luck Kate and truck load of dogs !
Enjoy the scenery, and success.
You picked a great time to go, you haven't missed much, except Ignatiaff blathering on like dithers.
Posted by: wubermanw at June 15, 2009 12:17 PMDone that bit twice as a university student going back and forth from BC to ON for the summer. Each time in a 1974 Volvo wagon and that was in 1997. Hotter than hell through there in August and no air, of course.
Posted by: Peter Jay at June 15, 2009 12:36 PMStart the countdown clock! Is Dick Clark available for the final few hours?
Posted by: EBD at June 15, 2009 12:43 PMI just have to tell you Kate you're just wonderful, the landscape is beautiful and your dogs have longer names than Paris Hilton's legs.
Posted by: Bobby Bitman at June 15, 2009 1:00 PMCongrats Kate! We travel that route (for the most part) from Calgary. Billings to Plentywood is very interesting as well, lots to see unless you've been in the mountains all your life. The people are some of the friendliest I have met anywhere.
Safe return for you and your dogs and again, congrats on your success.
Posted by: Jim in Calgary at June 15, 2009 1:39 PMAh, here I thought you drove a truck to haul the dogs to the show, but I now realize it's more to haul all the ribbons back home:-)))))
great job, you and the dogs:-))))
Do they have plug-ins for our green electric cars in Montana?
It is an amazing world out there and everytime I travel I see more things of interest. Speaking as a photographer, if you look for it, almost everywhere has something of interest, even Saskatchewan (grin).
It makes picking out a spot to put my feet up and retire all the more difficult. That's probably why I'm leaning towards a sailboat now, but until then it is back to the salt mine.
Posted by: Texas Canuck at June 15, 2009 3:14 PMKate is right. Montana and Yellowstone is beautiful country. I believe it is called God's Country.
Oh, and congrats on your wins :)
Posted by: Toontown Kid at June 15, 2009 3:31 PMIts good that you're not in Minnesota, Kate. Cold and flat, yet oh so windy!
See any grass sticking through the snow yet?
Posted by: The Phantom at June 15, 2009 3:40 PMWaterton Park to Glacier Park, Going to the Sun Highway, only open from May to Sept. The most incredible drive I have ever been on.
Congrats on the hounds Kate
Posted by: Greg at June 15, 2009 3:43 PMKate, can you bring some of that rain back with you?
Posted by: KevinB at June 15, 2009 4:23 PM
Love your work - congrats
Good Job Kate and CCMMM.
I know I am gona get slammed for this, but my oldest dog Sadie, she was 15, passed away last month and I am looking for a female German Sheperd puppy white with a black saddle.
Please bear in mind, I am over 55, Republican, Taxed the hell out of, and have been married three times.
Do we get pictures - doggie and/or travelling pictures?
Posted by: Black Mamba at June 15, 2009 6:39 PMCongratulations Kate. Keep racking up the wins and we'll keep the fire on here for you.
Posted by: Rebarbarian at June 15, 2009 7:27 PMWell done, Kate. Your Can. Minutemen rock!
Posted by: batb at June 15, 2009 9:32 PMYay Carmen! Yay Kate.
You know your blog is much better regarding speedy show results than the Onofrio site. The Onofrio site results are at times quite arcane and slow. Sigh.
Good to hear that your trip is proving worthwhile! Take more scenery pics. Loved the snow one!
Point of interest: The bridge-shootout scene in The Untouchables movie was filmed on a particular bridge between Great Falls and Helena.
Posted by: Bull at June 17, 2009 12:14 PMHey I was just kidding when I said you might need a trailer for the hardware!
Way to go Kate.
We hit every town you mentioned and then some.
We did a great trip to Big Van, Victoria, ferry to Port Angeles, Seattle, Spokane and back thru to Montana and home.
Ya, twisty, turny, uppy, downy mountain roads in a road grabbing sports car.
Oh the joy of it all.
And yes, the landscape was good too. heh
The Westess is Bestess.
