They're baaaack

I thought we'd be done with this sort of nuisance once the terrorist group they were supporting was decisively defeated, but no, the Tamils are back. With their flags.

Call up Paul Martin. He liked them so much he attended fundraisers and dinners in their honour.

They're cranky their team lost back home. But Team Tiger Canada is on a roll, they haven't lost here yet. Carbecues this summer? Could be!

Question, where do I send the bill if the OPP lets them burn my car?

Posted by: The Phantom at June 3, 2009 10:48 PM

“We were let down by the Canadian government. They asked us to put the flags down, and we did. We have no faith because no one came out to speak to us. We felt neglected.

Do these losers (and I mean losers) sound like whiny lefties or what? Maybe that's why they lost their little ugly war. Now they probably have self-esteem problems. Let's give them all a medal and tell them their war in Paul Anka was a tie.

Or ... they can grow a set, get jobs and be thrilled that they can live long and prosper in Canada.

Posted by: Hello Birdy at June 3, 2009 11:13 PM

The Tamils in Sri Lanka may have been, theoretically, defeated, but what they will do is simply move the fight elsewhere - and this means, to Canada.

As they are now doing, they'll be insisting that foreign governments do for them what they, as a militant group, failed to achieve: they want a separate state of their own; they want Sri Lanka punished etc.

A comparison would be if a lot of Quebecois moved to France, or to the US - (they do go to Florida in large numbers in the winter). Then, these Quebecois would fund raise in these countries, and hold massive demonstrations demanding that France and the US install sanctions against Canada; that France and the US work to develop a separate Quebec nation..etc.

Do any Tamil flag wavers in Ottawa have day jobs, or are they all on refugee welfare?

Just wondering.

Posted by: Joe Molnar at June 3, 2009 11:20 PM

ET,

C'mon, that last thing Quebecers want is to actually be cut loose from the magnificent ATM machine known to them as "the rest of Canada".

Posted by: Hello Birdy at June 3, 2009 11:22 PM

They already have a seperate state of their own. It is called Tamil Nadu, the largest state in S.E. India.

Posted by: Grobe at June 3, 2009 11:33 PM

Again..........Calling "Sergeant Pepper" where are you when we REALLY need you?

Posted by: chris at June 3, 2009 11:36 PM

Hello Birdy... Or the bunch of cowards could grow a set and go back to Sri Lanka and fight for their cause in person.

Posted by: Rob C at June 3, 2009 11:42 PM

It's time to start throwing some of these morons in jail. If a a group of natural born Canadians paraded on parliament hill waving swastikas they'd get their heads bashed by the police and would probably end up charged with a crime.
I'm so sick of these criminals and their disregard for the rights of others that I don't give a damn what happens to their terrorist brethren back in Sri Lanka.

Posted by: Powell Lucas at June 3, 2009 11:53 PM

I don't understand how these people make a living, all they seem to do is "demonstrate" is that an actual occupation? do they get E I when there are no demonstrations? Just askin'. The flag is a little strange is the tiger jumping through a "hoop" or is it "circling the bowl" Aah Liberals more stalls at the food fairs.

Posted by: Bubba Brown at June 3, 2009 11:59 PM

"Const. Suzanne Lefort of the RCMP called the demonstration loud but “pacific.” " I think those west coasters should stay home

Posted by: word patrol at June 4, 2009 12:03 AM

give them a bus ticket to the UN building in New Yok so they can demonstrate were they should, and don't let the bastags back in Canada!!!!!

Posted by: GYM at June 4, 2009 12:08 AM

We know what the Tamil-Canadians want to happen in *Sri Lanka*, but what do they expect the Canadian government, and the Canadian citizens whose lives they're disrupting, to do about it?

They want the Sri Lankan government -- and not the suicide-bombing Tamil Tigers, obviously -- to be charged with war crimes. But do they expect the Canadian government to charge the Sri Lankan government with war crimes, and to side with the Tamil Tigers over the Sri Lankan government?

They want a Tamil right to self-determination, and a Tamil homeland in Sri Lanka, but they comprehensively lost that battle in Sri Lanka. Do they expect us to send Canadian troops to fight the Sri Lankan government? To fight alongside the Tamil Tigers with the objective of obtaining a Tamil homeland?

Posted by: EBD at June 4, 2009 12:16 AM

Steven Harper is going to let them sue the Sri Lankan government for "terrorist acts"... Just wait for it. Does he realize how his legislation is going to clog the courts? The Pallies will be suing Israel, too, I betcha.

Will Ontarians be allowed to sue the Mohawks, I wonder?

Y'know what - let's invade Sri Lanka! I think Canada needs an Empire. Okay, hear me out... everyone would respect us if we started collecting colonies. Or fear us for being nuts, whatever, anyroad Canada would be way less boring. This country is MUCH TOO COLD, have you noticed? A few years ago my own bleak province apparently offered the Turks and Caicos Islands - a lovely little tropical drug-smuggling nest with a vibrant history of piracy dating back to the 18th century, (good times) - the chance to join up:
http://www.canadiancontent.net/commtr/turks-caicos-moves-join-canada_676.html

Imagine that: "Nova Scotia and Turks and Caicos; Canada Ocean Playgrounds!" Sadly this didn't pan out because life is ransomly cruel, but Sri Lanka would be another good place to catch Hepatitis and/or Malaria. I'm there in a heartbeat.

And if the Toronto Tamils don't want us to invade Sri Lanka, and really sort things out, then I'll be b*ggered if I know what they do claim to want from us.

Posted by: Black Mamba at June 4, 2009 12:33 AM

EBD: What if we offered them Quebec? I mean it would be a constitutional nightmare, but at least if would give Iggy something to worry about.

Posted by: Black Mamba at June 4, 2009 12:38 AM

Want to put an end to Tamil protests? Show up dressed as an army recruiter and tell them you want to sign them up as an all Tamil division to invade their former homeland. They'd scatter faster than cochroaches.

Posted by: bob c at June 4, 2009 3:18 AM

Tamils can go home now that there's peace in their country. Good bye.

Posted by: Philanthropist at June 4, 2009 6:59 AM

We have, along with the UN and other countries declared Tamil Tigers to be terrorists. In Sri Lanka the terrorists have been defeated.

IF the Tamils who are living here and "protesting" in our streets are NOT Tiger supporters, why are they not going back to aid their relatives themselves? Taking to our streets will accomplish nothing, certainly not sympathy.

Hotel Canada is overflowing, time to stop taking reservations.

Posted by: Liz J at June 4, 2009 7:20 AM

Time to read the riot act and tell them to go home.

(And I don't care if home is Missisauga or some pit of villany and despair in Sri Lanka, get off the friggin' roads already.)

Posted by: Fred2 at June 4, 2009 8:32 AM

tamil welfare bums go back to where you came from. stop screwing around in my country.

Posted by: old white guy at June 4, 2009 8:45 AM

There is a shift in perception being crafted. Now that the LTTE is defeated the left in Canada will now adopt them as victims, which they may or may not be I dont know and dont really want to know at this stage.

Evidence, CBC the Current running a program on book burning, and how it leads to toltarianism, and what is the power of the written word. Vaguely interesting...but the examples given included, Nazi's burning books (fair), Taliban burning books (fair) and the torching of the Library in Jaffna that destroyed 80% of the Tamil culture.....as Jon Stewart would say...Whhaaaaaaa???

When did this become a major item. Torching a library is never good, but hardly up there with examples of totalitarianism (Nazi's and Taliban)

Posted by: Stephen at June 4, 2009 8:55 AM

I'm confused with these protests, can someone help clarify exactly what these pinheads want?

Are we (Canada) supposed to demand the Sri Lankans re-run their civil war to let the other guys win so the rebel diaspora will stop blocking GTA traffic and go home?

Is this really our (Canada's) business?

Is it really our job to change domestic policy of the democratically elected government of another sovereign nation?

I mean really, what are they demanding here that even approaches reality.

Posted by: watcher in the rye at June 4, 2009 9:12 AM

Praise the Lord and pass the tear gas.

Posted by: Eskimo at June 4, 2009 9:52 AM

A library in Jaffna ? burned down and they lost 80% of Tamil culture? Looks like they manageged to save the manual for "spontanous demonstrations" I wish they would take a good look at the actions that brought this about, they seem to be doing the same thing here that started all the grief in Sri Lanka, they feel ignored, isn't Iggy's sympathy enough? I wish they would take a good look around and take advantage of the opportunites that are available to everone here. I am not interested in their political problems somwhere "out there"

Posted by: Bubba Brown at June 4, 2009 10:02 AM

Now if these Tamil protesters were smart they would elect Stephen Dion as their leader. He just might be able to get them a do over.

Posted by: Largs at June 4, 2009 10:44 AM

As posted elsewhere....when these folk blocked the Gardiner----why was not the RIOT ACT read to them and then bring on the snow-plows??????

Posted by: sasquatch at June 4, 2009 11:13 AM

Actually, whatever else I might think of Canadian Tamils and their cause, I'm quite willing to bet that they're no welfare bums.

Posted by: JJM at June 4, 2009 6:36 PM

sasquatch, are you kidding me? The riot act/snowplow thing is reserved for WASPs carrying Canadian flags.

Anybody out there thinks I'm kidding (or racist) then check out the latest news from Caledonia. The OPP is literally arresting people for walking past the Douglas Creek Estates with a Canadian flag in hand. Not just arresting them either, we're talking six man rugby scrum flattening one non-resisting, unarmed guy.

You wanna know why? Because the OPP are deathly afraid the Mohawk Warriors still occupying Douglas Creek Estates are going to shoot somebody. They have orders to make sure that doesn't happen, would be my guess, so they just bust anybody who goes near the place.

Makes perfect sense to me. [/.sarc]
