I am in awe of the incessant gushing..
long ago, I was slightly amused that some made note that the president liked to eat jelly beans. it seems long past.. Now of course, they are simply orgasmic to be in the same room.

Posted by: RFC at June 2, 2009 6:56 AMI just don't get it. Obama seems to have a force field around him which, fortunately, doesn't do a thing to me except make me want to back away. The effect on way too many others, however, is to have them swooning in the aisles, hanging on his every word, and fawning over his every move.
C'mon. Amazed at the Pres eating a handful of M&Ms????? And Brian William's hardly a neophyte newsman.
This adulation is, IMO, a direct result of misdirected worship syndrome (MWS): Humans were created to and for worship and for millennia have directed this tendency towards a Godhead. Now that 80% of the pop. (maybe slightly less in the U.S.) worship no god and go to no church, a vacuum has been created.
The result? Broadway and reality shows become the new temples and the young, handsome POTUS becomes the new god. "All hail!"
As the stomach turns ...

Posted by: batb at June 2, 2009 7:14 AMHave you forgotten about Ronald Reagan and his jar of jelly beans! He also thought that after a missle had been fired it could be called back, or Bush who barely had a grasp of the English vocabulary and invented words. Real presidential material there
Posted by: T at June 2, 2009 8:29 AMI think the media has forgotten news and focuses mainly on entertainment. To analyze an issue takes time and understanding whereas being impressed by burgers and M&Ms requires neither. Journalism school may have become makeup, haircuts and threads. If the media hires for photogenicity instead of merit... By the way T like the new word photogenicity?

Posted by: Aaron at June 2, 2009 8:47 AMI enjoy reading the comments of the right-wingers here. It just galls them that the USA had one of the most progressive liberal presidents in history. Obama has done more for the USA and international relations in his short period of time in office than Bush did over his entire eight years. Also, it galls them that Obama espouses some of the tenets of socialism.

The MSM can't ignore it much longer, the longer they do and the longer TOTUS keeps spending thousands (1 Million $'s to date)to hide it, the more and faster people will join to demand answers:
- The White House has a new blog website called "Open Government Dialogue" for citizens asking questions, it is currently overun by 'birthers':
http://opengov.ideascale.com/akira/dtd/3764-4049
- Fox news blog is the same (Now make sure to watch the short video clip of WH Press Sec. Robert Gibbs being asked the question by the WND reporter, Gibbs makes fun of him even before he asks the question but his body language displays deception):
http://www.thefoxnation.com/politics/2009/05/27/gibbs-finally-fields-birth-certificate-question
- World Net Daily has a new billboard campaign across America:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=99884
Like I said, sooner or later, the MSM will have to cover it...Or will they ever? Even Fox news is not...Bill O'Reilly is getting a lot of flak because of it. It even makes it that more mysterious that NOT ONE SINGLE MSM SOURCE IS TRYING TO PROVE OR MORE LIKELY ARE TRYING TO DISPROVE IT. WHO IS SILENCING THE MEDIA? EVEN FOX? IT SEEMS TO HAVE GARNERED ENOUGH MOMENTUM AMOUNGST THE POPULATION THAT ANY NETWORK WOULD RAKE IN KILLER RATINGS IF THEY CREATED A MAJOR REPORT ON IT, WOULD'NT YOU THINK?

Well, we're in the midst of the forced collectivization, so now comes the cult of personality. Any surprises?
Things to look forward to: the elimination of the kulaks and nepmen, the war against counter-revolutionaries; when the disasters begin to mount the denouncing and elimination of wreckers and saboteurs; when things get even worse the purging of the left-socialists etc, etc, etc.
Plus ca change . . .
All this hero worship reminds me of old Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in Oregon years ago. He had all those millionaires bamboozled, spending their money on Rolls Royces, he had several dozen, while they were all on foot. Why is the cult of personality so strong in western society. It is definitely not healthy. The secular nature of society seems to lead people to instead worship the questionable as a fashion statement rather than study and form their own fact-based principles. More people should read Ben Franklin and the Bible.

As true religion has declined in the West -- our educational, political, and media elites are almost to a wo/man anti-religion, anti-Christian -- the cult of personality has flourished. As I pointed out, humankind was made to worship, and when they don't worship the Creator, they worship created things, thus, other human beings. Barak Obama is one of a long line.
From Bob Dylan's album, "A Slow Train Coming":
But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.
Whomever it is you serve, you worship.

Personality cults are a part of human nature.
Stalin created a cult of personality in the Soviet Union around both himself and Lenin. Many personality cults in history have been frequently measured and compared to his.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Stalin#Cult_of_personality
A cult of personality arises when a country's leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.
A cult of personality is similar to general hero worship, except that it is created specifically for political leaders.

OMG I am in the Presence of a Famous Person, the Most Famous Person. I want to suck his .....
Posted by: RW at June 2, 2009 9:00 PMOz: "A cult of personality arises when a country's leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships."
And how is it that the public becomes open to the manipulation of a leader who uses the mass media to exercise dictatorial powers?
People with no spiritual beliefs, who believe in nothing and therefore will fall for anything, are easily led by the nose to worship a "cult personality" they've been told is bigger, better, and more powerful than they are.
The West has been ripe for the taking. Having forsaken the Judeo-Christian faith of our forefathers and mothers, we've been duped like Esau who gave up his rightful heritage for a bowl of pottage.
One could say that we have been the authors of our own stupidity.

The Judeo-Christian faith transcends the things of this world, yes even it's politics, those who hold that faith should fear not.
As to politics, the Cult of Personality is what destroyed democracy in the Greco-Roman Empires and ushered in barbarism to those worlds.
Greece, Athens, didn't survive the Personality Cult of Alexander, a Macedonian, and Rome lost it's democracy because of the Personality Cult of Julius Caesar.
Obama Hussein is likely trying to quit smoking and is eating M&M's to help stop the urge to smoke. Regan ate jelly beans for the same reason. Most informed people think that eating all those jelly beans contributed heavily to the terrible disease, Alzheimer's, that took President Regan's life before he died. The dye in the jelly beans kills brain cells. Smarties and M&M's are probably equally as lethal.
