Please note:
An Islamic thug screaming "death to Jews" in the streets of Sweden is an "activist".
An Islamic thug who "restores" his family's honour by unloading a .44 Magnum into his sister and her boyfriend is an "Ottawa Man".
Thus concludes your Media Terminology Update for today.

"Your crimes have shocked and bewildered the people of ALMOST every community in the nation's capital," said Ontario Superior Court Justice Douglas Rutherford..."
Don't you just love the word ALMOST in the Judge's comments. At the very least, I guess we can assume he was acknowledging that there is a (growing?) sliver of Canadian society who were not "shocked and bewildered" by an "Honour Killing".
Comforting that.
Posted by: stephen p at May 31, 2009 11:19 AMYep like calling a terrorist a freedom fighter, a fighter, tribesman, militant........
Posted by: sasquatch at May 31, 2009 11:20 AMThe Ottawa Sun article never once uses the word "Islam", "Islamic" or "Muslim". I guess that aspect of the killings is not important to the MSM.
Congrats to the journalist Terri Saunders of the Ottawa Sun. She's made Commissar Barbara Hall proud.

No, stephen. To leftists, that only means that right-wing haters like SDA readers wouldn't be surprised because they're racists and believe all muzzies are murderers and terrorists. That way - incredibly - a islamowhacko can off somebody because of his 'religion', and still remain a victim.
Neat how it works, eh?

Is a "gun-slaying" worse than murder? Doubt you'd find "knife-slaying" or "bat-slaying" anywhere.
Just checking...

Stage three: the deadly silence

Posted by: theredsuit at May 31, 2009 12:34 PMMaybe I have become too cynical but I am surprised they gave his name. As that is a possible identifier. The TO media tends to forget minor details like that.
Posted by: Speedy at May 31, 2009 12:39 PMTerry Saunders gets A+ in PC department. He managed to never us either M-word or I-word in entire article.
Why? Because the perp is a muslim.
Why? Because islam dictates his course of action.
You are a dork, Terry.
Posted by: Aaron at May 31, 2009 12:57 PMThis reminds one of the 'Ottawa man with psychiatric problems' who died in a Denver motel room with a pound of cyanide.Even though it ws only a week or so before the DNC,not much was made of the possible consequences. Also, two of the ten flights from Britian that were targetted for a sudden termination over the Atlantic were bound for Canada. Nothing to see here folks, stay comfortable until the day that we wake up and say WTF,never saw that coming.
Posted by: wallyj at May 31, 2009 1:10 PMheh, psychiatric and consequences spelled right,Britain and was, spelled wrong.
Posted by: wallyj at May 31, 2009 1:15 PMDoes anyone know where he got the weapon he used in the shooting. I'm sure it was legally acquired, not !!
Posted by: erl at May 31, 2009 1:26 PMInteresting how the MSM STILL claims "life with NO chance of parole for 25 years". In fact, what they should mean is "full parole" as day paroles and other such crap is available much sooner and, of course, let us not forget Warren Allmand's Faint Hope Clause allowing possibility of full parole after 15 years. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Posted by: Norm Matthew at May 31, 2009 1:31 PMFound the answer myself. So if we spent more money on policing (rather then registers) he may have been picked up for illegally weapons possession.
"Sadiqi, 23, said he had been holding the gun and some ammunition for a friend of a friend since early 2006, for $500 per month.
He said he usually kept the gun in his home, but had it in his car, under the driver’s seat, because the friend of a friend had asked him to keep it close in case that person needed it, he said."
Posted by: erl at May 31, 2009 1:47 PMI wonder if his Canadian-taxpayer-funded defense lawyer will appeal on grounds the Judge did not take cultural differences into account.
Posted by: dmorris at May 31, 2009 1:58 PMVictim impact statements.
Why?
The law is the law. A court sanctioned Oprahfied weepy session presumes that the peanut gallery needs some elucidation about a family's loss.
The law is the law.
"Sadiqi, 23, said he had been holding the gun and some ammunition for a friend of a friend since early 2006, for $500 per month."
Who pays someone $16,000 to hold a gun for them? Sound like these boys were involved in the heroin trade.
Posted by: gord at May 31, 2009 2:41 PMAnd where are Sow and the other feministas stomping their feet and screaming hate at this man who interfered in his sister's life and her choices? Would it have made a difference to the SOWs if this girl had been involved with a same sex thingie? What if her brother had killed her for having an abortion? Is this woman a 'person'?
So many questions, so few answers...why are the press gang against Muslim women and, for that matter, North American Indian women who are deemed not fit to be mature enough to have the right to half the property when a North American Indian marriage ends up in divorce? The SOW types obviously, are not color blind...and neither are the msm. Is this an omen for all female Canadian citizens? Nellie McClung must be rolling over in her grave!

--Or on the grounds that there wasn't a Muslim judge to "empathize" with the defendant. (That's an Obamism, "empathy").
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at May 31, 2009 2:41 PMOf course, I did a post on this thing, h/t-ing this one. And of course I call it like I see it. Without the submissive political correctness, of course.
When Rupert Murdoch gets his wish and we'll have to pay to read the Big Media "news" online, I betcha the free online newsmedia and the blogs will really take off in terms of visitorship numbers. After all, who wants to pay for PC drivel when you can get the news RAW?
Also, how come I don't remember any reports of these "honor" murders after they happened three years ago?
Was there any reports at all, or were they buried and virtually impossible to find by bloggers?
I betcha that the just-broken news of an abortion doctor's being slain in Kansas will have the Hard Left pointing fingers at Christians and Christianity in general and calling for a crackdown on anything and everything and everybody Christian. And if the accused, if caught, happens to be a Christian, I guarantee that the Big Media will scream it for us! Then again, maybe the doctor was a Muslim and his brother killed him for "honor"... Who knows?

Posted by: AtlanticJim at May 31, 2009 4:02 PMSince this "new" Canadian brought his tradition of honour killing perhaps we should bring back the "old" Canadian tradition of hanging murders.
Mr. Sadiqui meet Mr. Ellis.
If anyone's interested, you can find out about Archbishop Prendergast (RC Archbishop of Ottawa) and his sister-killing tendencies at his blog. http://archbishopterry.blogspot.com
It may look like he's only talking about 'God's love' and 'loving your neighbour', but any properly trained pomo progressive will be able to recognize the repressed sororcidal proclivities.
The whole Idea is to de-sensitize us from horrors like this by making them sound mundane. Just like Psycho’s with other serial killers. Whom I might add Liberals love, but see no problem sucking the brains out of a baby while being born. Yet a mass Killer is to be pitied. The Government plus certain interests want this shut up so the Religion of War can take us over before we even know.
I figure they already have the Media, next the Courts. Sharia Law to be forced on Canadians. Just watch. They will try to make this dung ball look normal as well.
Canadian sentential is right. If this where Christians, or pseudo-Christians. Than the MSM would be on them like a chicken hawk at KFC. By the way, as a REAL Christian, the guy who kills anyone out of Anger or hate is a murderer. Plain & simple. Who ought to be treated as such.
Anyone noticed they don’t even give out names of convicted criminals anymore in papers o0r TV?
They have submitted or been subdued by Islam. All of these groups to one degree or another have bent the knee to this barbaric creed. Just remember Obama almost kissing the Saudi's feet he bent so low. The MSM got the clue.
JMO
AtlanticJim, the line in the canoe piece that stood out for me was the "(will be a)...general leftist pundit, his hulking physical presence providing a stark contrast to the usually meek commentators the network brings in to argue from the left." line.
I find that line telling given that Fox is the only network where the people with a left of centre viewpoint aren't complete idiots. Lanny Davis, Juan Williams, Dr. Mark Lamont Hill, Mara Liasson and others can articulate and intelligently discuss their position.
Posted by: SDH at May 31, 2009 5:33 PMWhen the same PC brainwashed writers (they are definately not journalists and they know it and the juxtapositon of two murders will prove it) cover the story of the nut job who senselessly murdered the abortion doctor in the US, do you think the work Christian Fundamentaltist and Church will come up?
Two crimes against humity. Two sets of coverage.
Shame on the honour killer, the doctor killer and the writers who are more interested in framing the story than they are in the import of the story itself.
"i slapped your face and stepped on his,
if that ain't love, what is ?"
The Ottawa man who was convicted of murdering his sister,is a reality check for those who have the idea they can get away with Islamic traditions, family honour killings, whatever, in this country.
The scary part is this guy was born here and raised in the faith that brainwashed him to be capable of committing such a heinous crime. It means we have one hell of a problem with integration, a serious problem with messaging as well. Where would any of these people assume our Charter Rights would extend to condoning murder as a religious right?
To further make one uneasy, Ontario under the leadership of one Dalton McGuinty, almost had Sharia law. How would that have affected the outcome of this case? How would the lawyers be obliged to rule on it?
Posted by: Liz J at May 31, 2009 5:59 PMMaybe the Ottawa man was just an angry Liberal!
Posted by: Jack Frosst at May 31, 2009 7:44 PMIslam allows Honour Killings in most Muslim Nations the murder does not do any jail time nor are they charged with said murder thus his Religion is the reason he killed his victims so it is relevant to us as a society but MSM is afraid of telling the truth lest they get hauled before a HRC tribunal with charges of "Blasphemy or Islamophobia".
Posted by: Rose at May 31, 2009 8:31 PM"""The scary part is this guy was born here """

liz, I had an interesting conversation ( about 10 years ago) with a Canadian born Italian lad, who claimed to be "italian" , not even Italian-Canadian, so yah, we do have a huge integration problemo, and not just with the Muzzies!!!
I have often commented to others that the American system of sending somebody away for 165 years for tax evasion or whatever was ridiculous. In this case, I really think our "Ottawa man" should have been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for the two murders, making it 50 years before being eligible for parole. With this one-life sentence for two victims he essentially got one murder in for free. 'Tough on crime government', please take note.

Rest easy folks, I'm sure Barbara Hall and the Ontario Human Rights comission is looking into these killings, right?
Right?
Posted by: Beer and Popcorn at May 31, 2009 10:25 PMHere's a Toronto "Honour Killing" that happened a few days ago.
http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_34712.aspx
Forget all that honour killing triviality.
What's really important is how this poor victim was forced into doing what he did out of desperation after suffering the systematic discrimination of our evil, imperialist and racist country.
If Canadian society wasn't dominated by heteronormative, racist white Christians this would have never happened.
Posted by: Jason at June 1, 2009 10:51 AM"Because Archbishop Prendergast Would Lop The Head Off His Sister If Given The Chance"
No, but Archbishop Prendergast's pro life views might motivate him to kill a doctor.
Oh wait, am I the first person to bring that up? Ooops.
Them kooks just keep creeping out of the religious woodwork. I am sure we will have a hundred islamists jump up and claim Islam protects women rights. And I am sure we will have a hundred Christians jump up and say that the murder in Kansas was the work of misguided minority.
But who am I to draw a conclusion?
Posted by: uh huh at June 1, 2009 1:18 PMuh huh
You need to sue the education system for the permanent damage they have done to your logical facilities.
How many abortion doctors have been killed in all of history?
How many women have been killed or maimed in Islamic-driven "honour" attacks THIS WEEK?
Your comparison can only have been made by a third-rate intellect further diminished by an educational system which discouraged you from rational thought. No one with an IQ higher than 85 would make such a dim comparison.
waiting for someone to actually pay attention to the evil that is islam, waiting, waiting, waiting, zzzzzzzzzzzzz
