America is still not ready for a Rocky Horror Picture Show Revival.

What are you doing watching Idol Kate?
Don't tell us you have an opinion on the bachelor? Or is it bachelorette?
I would like to say perfect analysis, but I don't want to admit to knowing what she is talking about.
Posted by: Jeff K at May 21, 2009 12:23 AMThey call the scandal "Dhallagate." And Ruby knew how to "Dhallagate" her tasks to others! As this story will attest! The Liberals have really tried to close the "gate" on that one!
Posted by: Johnny B. Goode at May 21, 2009 12:38 AMWas that a pic of Demi Moore with 'reversatroll' meds ? we could use that around here off 'n on as well.
Posted by: Agent Smith at May 21, 2009 1:34 AMNever underestimate the anti-precious-android vote.
Posted by: EBD at May 21, 2009 1:55 AMAs good as Adam was in some instances, the more things progressed the more he seemed to be a one note Johnny with a theatrical flair. His high notes seemed far too effeminate or androgynous compared with other great rock screamers.
That being said, there will be lots of parents of preteens looking at their phone bills with raised eyebrows next month.
Posted by: ward at May 21, 2009 2:03 AMSpeaking of Rocky Horror Picture Show, I remember seeing it a couple of times in the early '80s at midnight shows. Everyone was dressed up in garters, drunk, throwing toast and yelling out all kinds of alternate dialog that everyone knew but me. It was fun.
Not long ago I rented it, hearing the actual dialog for the fist time. It was a terrible movie.
Posted by: randall g at May 21, 2009 3:18 AMI agree with Ward. Even though Lambert is a better singer than that other guy, he is not nearly as good as real rock stars. His voice is naturally high and he doesn't have a very dynamic voice. I would much rather listen to Meatloaf scream off "like a bat out of hell!" missing a bunch of notes in the process than Adam's more note friendly feminine style.
That being said, Adam should have won, he is a solid singer.
Posted by: The Champ at May 21, 2009 8:07 AMAmerican/Canadian idol is not a talent show,it is just a popularity contest, sorta like electing politicos.
Posted by: Justthinkin at May 21, 2009 8:34 AMWho watches that? Seriously.
Posted by: eljay at May 21, 2009 8:37 AMI swear I only watched a couple of youtube clips and the results. The show is pretty terrible. 100 000 000 votes..how is that even possible?
Posted by: The Champ at May 21, 2009 8:50 AMAmerican Idol? I liked it better when the American Idol was the almighty dollar. Now they're cheap and so is their lousy TV show... lol
Posted by: Warwick at May 21, 2009 9:32 AMNot really a suprise.
The large white-bread middle in the U.S., is not going to vote for a gay "American Idol".
Clearly, Adam Lambert was better. And clearly, he is more effeminate, and, quite probably from all reports - gay.
Recall Clay Aiken? Outclassed Ruben Studdard - but also "out-gayed" him.
No shock - but, to be honest, unfortunate. The Lambert kid was clealry more talented.
Posted by: roblaw at May 21, 2009 9:54 AMWhat a waste of time.
You didn't actually watch this tripe?
I watched all of it, the whole thing from the first episode. Some of it is banal, much of it is cheesy, but there are also moments of real talent, show biz moments, brilliance and humor. Just like real life.
As for Kris winning there is no doubt that the voting patterns favored an artist like Kris.
But get a grip.. as one contestant once said its a TV show about a reality show and as far as TV shows go its pretty good TV.
Posted by: james at May 21, 2009 11:03 AMTo all you naysayer’s, too bad for you, Idols a great show. I grew up watching Solid Gold, Soul Train and Star Search so why not Idol? I too had a haughty attitude at one time but eventually this show made me realize how precious singers like Lambert and others really are. They are literally one in millions. It also doesn't hurt that everyone in my house gets together to watch as a family.

I'm surprised Adam didn't win. I picked him from the audition, he appeared to be a shoe-in; but, "That's why they play the game". It definitely is a popularity contests, but because of the nature of the business what else could it be?
I seem to have a knack for picking the runner-up. I picked Doolittle, Achuleta and that Side-show bob guy. Oh well.
I'm not really a rock fan, I never really identified with skinny white boys and their bogus love lyrics. It's the intellectual abyss if you ask me. That being said, I felt A.L. is one of the best rock singers I've heard, though I agree he's a little too theatrical, but he can work on that. If you watched the season he showed that he had no roof, he could rock or sing and amazing ballot. I think he would make a great substitute for F.M. on a Queen tour. He's the only singer in rock right now who is even close to F.M.’s skill and talent level.
I suspect runner-up is the best thing that could have happened to A.L. in the long run. JMO
You're just buggin right Kate?
Posted by: Indiana Homez at May 21, 2009 1:16 PMAmerican idol??????, I thought that was about the rising unemployment rate as the economy is tanking
now you say it's a TV show, must rank rite up there with Jerry Springer, so I wouldn't waste E-lectricity to watch such nonsense
then again, the TV ain't been on for over a year, as the grandkids ain't been watching it over here:-))))
roblaw,
If what you posit is true, why then did the Gokey kid not make it to the finale against Allen? Gokey is some kind of spiritual leader in his church and would more represent the "large white bread middle" you rail against.
This is just a long winded way of saying you are completely full of $hit.
BTW: when did conservatism begin to equate to being a luddite? Unclench your sphincter muscles people; a little pop culture diversion isn't going to bring about the downfall of humanity.
Posted by: A. Cooper at May 21, 2009 5:27 PMWho really gives a @#$@#. AI is a low budget moaner designed to save the networks money. The brain dead sheep that watch it instead of those programs that are still designed to be "entertaining" contribute to the entertainment vacuum that is network TV today. Once you start to like shit, they'll feed you more of it!
GET A BRAIN! BOYCOTT REALITY SHOWS!
Posted by: Bart at May 21, 2009 7:22 PMOh brother, American Idol may be cheesy but it's entertaining and showcases some great artists once in a while.
As for Kris winning, I'm glad. Adam was a one-trick pony who was over-dramatic and wailed and screeched. Kris was not only humble and likeable, he had a great mellow style and had some excellent performances and very creative arrangements. Those who say he's not talented are crazy or haven't seen him sing, play piano, and guitar, all well enough to perform on national television and delight audiences. He deserved that win.
