It must be depressing to constantly be telling everyone that the values that built the greatest society humanity has ever known are being thoughtlessly tossed on the garbage heap.

It's nice that he's often funny about it ... it's a comfort ... but it doesn't diminish the sadness of the message.

I often wonder why otherwise sensible would do this to themselves, but I never come up with a convincing explanation.

I wish Mark, and others, would address this question more often.

It's easy, and often fun, to snipe at fools, but what is it that prompts them to be so foolish ?

It seems puzzling how the supposedly smartest, best educated people on the planet can steer into these jackpots. As an example, consider how the ever more highly educated members of the print media slavishly supported every silly educational fad that came along which replaced real achievement standards in primary and secondary schools so that after several generations newspapers that were little more than leftist drivel jammed between multi pages of car ads had nothing going for them to attract newly graduating young people as regular readers.

Perhaps the common thread is that these top people are not stupid, that they are intent on destroying from the inside those institutions that could one day turn around and begin to seriously challenge or obstruct their future plans.

I'm not certain that treating the symptoms - which is what I believe others mean by "resisting" - will cure the disease.

It's pretty persistent.

It needs to be defined, isolated, and eradicated.

I'd hate to see my kids have to choose between 1984 and barbarism.
