Is there nothing that Obama can't do?
"Yes, Canada is not Mexico, it doesn't have a drug war going on, it didn't have 6,000 homicides that were drug-related last year," she said.
"Nonetheless, to the extent that terrorists have come into our country or suspected or known terrorists have entered our country across a border, it's been across the Canadian border. There are real issues there."
When asked if she was referring to the 9-11 terrorists, Napolitano added: "Not just those but others as well."
...though apparently, they did nothing illegal.
"What we have to do is target the real evil-doers in this business, the employers who consistently hire illegal labor, the human traffickers who are exploiting human misery. And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se. It is civil. But anyway, going after those as well."
"The future is we have borders"
Sleep well in those beds, my dear American cousins.

Posted by: Warwick at April 22, 2009 11:39 AMIncredible. Doesn't she know US Law? Section 8, Title 1325 (improper entry by alien), clearly states that it is a criminal offence subject to both fine (which is minimal and ought to be changed) and imprisonment.
In addition, there IS a 'civil penalty' for 'improper time and place', but, this is in addition to the basic criminal act of 'improper entry by an alien'. I quote:
"Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed".
This is this same perceptive lady who released the DHS report, which defined as 'extremist right wingers' who are 'prone to violence' anyone who objects, questions or dissents from the socialist leftist mantra about abortion, immigration and other socialist ideologies. Oh, and declared that anyone who had been in the US military was prone to such opinions.
Now, we have the new assertion that illegal entry to the US is irrelevant - which is going to increase the flow. This is aided, by the way, by Mexico, whose government (Mexican Foreign Ministry) in 1994 and 2005 actually published a 32 page 'comic book' (easy to understand, get it?) on how to cross the US border illegally. It's called The Guide for the Mexican Migrant. Google it.
What on earth is going on in the USA? What is Obama doing? He's destroying America.
He's removed intentionality to harm from the Islamic fascists; the results of their bombings and attacks are now defined as accidental, i.e, 'man-caused disasters' - a term used for accidents and human error in construction of buildings and bridges or turning the wrong switch.
He's defined the US as morally deficient, operationally erroneous and 'unfeeling' and now, as politically irrelevant for all nations, both dictatorships and democracies, are identical in value. His definition of the USA as a corrupt agressor, of course, refers to the Past USA. He's made it clear that he, Obama, had nothing to do with this previous Sinful Era, and that his Era is a New Dawn.
He's defined the basic freedom of entrepreneurship and individual accomplishment that is the identity of the USA (and why everyone wants to go there) - as unacceptable. He defines the results of accomplishment as 'wealth' and furthermore, as unacceptable.
He chooses to punish such energy by repressive measures of taxation and massive deficits, and taking over of private companies and private motivation. He'll 'distribute' this money to those who do not engage in individual entrepreneurship and hard work. Result? He's going to destroy the American economy because of this repressive lid on individual initiative and work.
In foreign affairs - the results of his denigration of America, his refusal to acknowledge its accomplishments and all the aid and benefits it has given to the world - has encouraged its enemies to expand their operations. Iran, N. Korea - have all snubbed their noses at him. Cuba has informed him that he's quite wrong about his views on them. Europe has turned their backs on him.
Obama's narcissism, which sets himself up as able to 'make things happen' merely by his presence and his by now obvious anti-Americanism, is blinding him to the reality that the world doesn't operate at his will - and that he is actually moving America, and the world, into a very dangerous future.

"The most successful people in the world will usually suggest that they surround themselves with people who are smarter than they are."
I have a friend who is an HR VP who took one of those talks you are normally bored silly in.
This one was different due to actual value.
The idea was that there is A,B, and C level managers. A managers (the best ones) will only surround themselves with A level people because they demand the best out of everyone and surround themselves with the best people who will deliver. As A level people, they have no fear of other A level people.
B level managers know they aren't the best and feel threatened by A people so they only hire yes-men from the C level pool. So B managers are the worst thing an organization can be saddled with. They pull the whole organization down.
I'm not sure if Obama is B or C but he sure as hell isn't an A.

Posted by: Warwick at April 22, 2009 12:45 PMWhat's most breathtaking to me is that Napolitano's stupidity may not be the worst example of it in the Obama administration.
Are any of her recent boneheaded comments worse than Hillory telling Europe that America has been a democracy for longer than them? Or what about Obama going on TV in the Middle East and saying he wanted to return to the great relations America had with the Muslim world 30 years ago.
That of course was the period in which Knomeini took the US embassey in Tehran and 200 or so American soldiers were blown up in a barracks in Lebanon.
I can only imagine what the reaction of the press would have been if Bush had uttered any of these ridiculously stupid comments.
I've always believed that a decade or two down the road Bush would come to be viewed far more positively that he is today. I'm beginning to think Obama is going to accomplish that for him in his first, and hopefully only, term.

Posted by: Watcher at April 22, 2009 12:52 PMbob c - nice comments.
But Obama's particular strategy is to continue to vilify Bush and set himself up in perpetual campaign mode. Anything that goes wrong, he'll instantly blame it on 'Before Obama' (BO) and Blame Bush (BB). This is coupled with his basic anti-Americanism - and the two agendas make quite a disastrous agenda that harms America.
Ace of Spades has some nice comments, pointing out that Napolitano's assertion that the 9/11 came from Canada is inaccurate, for the 9/11 official report states that none of them did so.
Add that to her statement that illegal immigration isn't illegal - despite the clear criminal code in US law that says it is illegal - and her statements that people who question the socialist left about abortion, immigration and social welfare are ''extremists'..and that the military are prone to 'violence and 'right wing extremism'..well, this is a new Rev. Wright, isn't it?
And where is Obama in this? When he reads and listens to his administrators with their anti-Americanism, their attacks against people who reject abortion, who want to stop illegal immigration, who want to stop Islamic fascist terrorism....where is Obama on this? He's doing as he did with 20 years of listening to the Rev. Wright's anti-Americanism, anti-white, anti-wealth tirades. Allowing them to be spoken. And not saying a word to stop or counter them. This is his administration speaking. Against America and Americans.
Posted by: ET at April 22, 2009 12:54 PMYes she's wrong on the 9-11 terrorists; undoubtedly wrong about terrorists not crossing from Mexico (see especially the work of Todd Bensman). Peter GETS IT! Obama is no moron, he's a genius. Too many of you are confused, suffering from cognitive egocentrism. You get his narcissism (a by now tireseome analysis), but all totalitarian leaders are narcissists -- and here I go again -- without exception.
Here's what you need to get: the Mexican border IS NOT A PROBLEM for Obama. Its porosity is a major asset. The Dem-Marxists are trying to set up a kind of permanent "progressive" government and the wholesale importation of 3rd world losers from Mexico, who will vote 100% Dem, are a key component of the strategy. As we all know by now, even at this juncture, about 50% of Americans will soon pay no income taxes, many of whom will pay negative income taxes.
And, oh, as Michell Malkin points out, our erstwhile hero GWB pre-socialized the US for the the Obama-Soros November Revolution.
This is not stupidity, this is cold, clear strategy. The morons are those who suffer from conservative cognitive egocentrism, who think Obama has the same objective as themselves but is too stupid to know how to achieve it.
Finally, there's a neat pic of Comrade Obama at Moonbattery. It shows O with a book. That book is The Post-American World by Fareed Zakaria. It exults in America's decline as the Third World becomes the only world.

As for the Mexican border - I think that most of us here understand the agenda of the Obama administration, which is to turn those illegal aliens into voters-for-Obama. That's what his control of tne census is also about. Rather than counting actual 'heads', it will 'guesstimate', which will change the electoral districts and representations.
And don't assume that lots of those illegals won't be voting! And, I'll also bet that by the time of the 2010 elections, there'll be some kind of 'amnesty' to enable them to do so.
Democrats, The Left, our Liberals - have on agenda. Power. And these moves are already election-preparation moves.
As for the Sept 12th Tea Parties, we'll have to watch how the Obama administration is going to hijack and disable them. They'll be doing that in the next few months. Watch them.

But couldn't I say the same about the narcissist tag (which I agree with, of course)? I mean, we don't have a formal diagnosis by a qualified quack, sorry, shrink, done in a clinicial setting, face to face with Obama. I mean, even written by people trained in the field, we can't take these opinion pieces, penned at a distance, which opine that he's a narcissist, even a pathological one, as fact, can we?
[ WOW, looks like I borrowed Vitruvius's comma splicer! But, it could be the Proust. I'm re-reading In Search of Lost Time, the latest translation at Penguin. ]

As a manager one of your priorities is to replace yourself.
Part of a manager’s job is to staff effectively and to train. A manager who can train someone else to do their job as effectively or better is an extremely valuable person. This type of person doesn't need to be looking over their shoulder.
BTW
In my experience, most 'A' type people avoid management. It is much more lucrative, satisfying and less stressful working on commission or some type of results based pay structure(bonuses/sub-contract). Management usually make comparable money but invest much more time and emotion.
