True enough Kate. The leftards are still stuck on Che and many of us on the right consider this a natural event.

The left will try to block this event from memory almost as much as frequent Iraqi elections...
I really like Google and its services, but every now and then I'm reminded...
From today's Sightseer (emailed updates about Google Earth software) issue:
Since the mid-1970s, glaciers have been melting faster than any other point in geologic history. James Balog, National Geographic Society photographer, has visited many of the world's most stunning glaciers, and has documented their unnaturally rapid retreat as a result of global climate change.

Appartently they are creating an enormous database of citizen medical and lifestyle information they are working to gather and store on Google. This is a vast private-government partnership to create the world’s largest ever database of genetic, medical and personal lifestyle information, that can and will be used against us.
The bigger news story came earlier this month when Google announced its new behavioral tracking and interest-based targeted marketing program. Google is capturing users’ online activities, IP addresses, browser, time stamp and specific URLs, storing them and using them to create interest profiles of consumers for advertising.
There is also a lot of problems with the security of the information they have gathered.

Yep!
My thoughts exactly.

Posted by: Bernie at April 9, 2009 9:37 PMI think the bringing down of the wall that divided Berlin into free and not free, was a lot more symbolic. Not that I expect a google commemorative logo on that day either..
I'm not addicted to Tv at all, I do remember though, sitting for days watching the news unfold over there, that and crying / anger throughout much of 9/11.

Wait - if I go to that site and enter my information, how can I be sure that the information won't be later sold to Google? Aaarrrggghhh!
Let's face it, online activity can be tracked, and the more sophisticated technology gets, the easier it will be to do so. Your personal info is more easily accessed, there's no putting the genie back in the bottle.
On the whole, let's hope that "the people" benefit from this in the long run, as those who lie and deceive should be easier to catch, and those who have nothing to hide shouldn't be afraid to, uh...ummm, unless there's some huge conspiracy or something, or...oh no, I'm back to "Aaarrrggghhh!" again!

Posted by: ural at April 9, 2009 10:55 PMWhen will the statue of Kim Il Sung at Pyongyang, which has an identical pose, be tore down before a defiant free people???
Posted by: Knight of Good Mr. Iron Man at April 9, 2009 11:34 PMIron Man, the only way that's going to happen will be by force. And nobody is going to go into North Korea by force while China is currently being controlled by a Communist Military.
Posted by: pete at April 9, 2009 11:49 PMWhy would the American Google have a logo commemorating Paul Martin pulling Jean Chretien from his pedestal?
Posted by: Fritz at April 9, 2009 11:51 PMFritz, he wasn't pulled. Liberals always attack from the back. He was pushed.
Posted by: pete at April 10, 2009 12:01 AMThe media does not report this fabulous event because it was a bad day for all bigshot Puffins and their nasty pals - the media are in the 'pal' group. The group, as a whole, must have lost billions of $$ the day Saddam came down. heh.
Posted by: Jema54 at April 10, 2009 1:34 AMOff topic, I know, but in with a chance to go undefeated in the round robin, Kevin Martin had a choice to remove a Scottish rock in an extra end because one of the Scot sweepers had (barely) touched a Canadian guard with his foot. Canada could either remove the Scottish stone, or leave it there.
Martin took a moment to confer with an official, but then quickly decided "No, I don't want a controversy or nothing, leave it there.". In the event, Scotland won the end.
I have little doubt that had, say, the US or France been the aggrieved party that the stone would have been removed. I want to say how proud I am that Martin represented what I call a true Canadian value - not an excessive legality, but the spirit of what we used to call "playing the game".
For years, we suffered under the US New York lawyer's version of hockey - one toe in the 'blue ice', no goal, even if it had no bearing on the play. High stick that draws blood - game misconduct, even if it was accidental. (Unless it was Wayne Gretzky, a Stanley Cup semi-final, and Kerry Fraser was only 10 f***ing feet away..) It's taken some time, but we've drawn back a little from that brink.
So, I'm cheering more than ever for Martin - he could have taken a cheap win, but he didn't. He's a great curler, and I really hope on Sunday he's standing tall on the podium, although he couldn't stand taller in my estimation.
