"Entrepreneurial", as in "Entrepreneurial Federation of Saskatchewan".
So far, so good.
Now, if you were looking to bring in a keynote speaker for your entrepreneurial federation's AGM and business luncheon, whose names might pop into your head?
Actually, let's narrow this down. Whose would be the last name to pop into your head?
Put your guess in the comments, before looking at the answer here. Your only hint - it's a well-known Canadian.
Now, don't go blabbing the answer in the comments. Gag, mock and constern all you wish, but no hints! I want to see if anyone guesses it.
Posted by Kate at March 31, 2009 2:12 PMmy guess, lorne calvert.
Posted by: Warwick at March 31, 2009 2:09 PMKate, come on really. You must be making that up.
I refuse to believe it.
Well it's better than the guy they got last year, Rick Mercer, who has done more to keep Liberals in power than almost anyone. I guessed Lorne...what's that guy's last name, the former premier of Sask?
Posted by: OMG at March 31, 2009 2:11 PMWhoever invited the actual guy shouldn't JUST be fired...

Posted by: cal2 at March 31, 2009 2:25 PMShirley Douglas??
Posted by: Karl at March 31, 2009 2:26 PMThe Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy invited that nitwit to "chair a town hall meeting" at the AGM. A surprising number of people who should have known better supported the idea, and to make matters worse, they did it all over again the very next year. The whole thing turned into a CBC love-in. I have no idea what happened the third year - I simply stopped paying my dues, and went elsewhere for my professional membership.
Posted by: kakola at March 31, 2009 2:27 PMSid Ryan?

Posted by: Karl at March 31, 2009 2:27 PMIt can't be William Shatner--he's from Montreal, and a different "Federation". So my guess is David Suzuki.

Fast Eddy Broadbent?
That lady who used to be head of the federal NDPs who looked like some lady in my grandmother's quilting circle?
Ok, I'm looking now.
Nope. I would have never guessed that. They're mental.

Posted by: kakola at March 31, 2009 2:29 PMI would've gone with Trudeau, but they probably don't want to exhume him just for this...how 'bout Peter Lougheed then?
Posted by: Gen. Lee Wright at March 31, 2009 2:30 PMFor those who peeked: What exactly is the difference between "Canada" and "Canadians"? Such muddleheaded thinking is typical of those in this person's line of work.
Posted by: bestman at March 31, 2009 2:33 PMYou guys were missing the obvious ones... Lingenfelter or Dion.
Gonna have to go with Dion here.
:)
Posted by: Andrew at March 31, 2009 2:33 PMI'm guessing Suzuki
I rescind my Suzuki guess, because hinters here have said it's so improbable as to be unbelievable. And while Suzuki would be a moronic choice, it's not outside the realm of possibility that he'd be invited as a famous face etc. So my new guess is Ed Broadbent or Morgenthaler.

Posted by: Trent at March 31, 2009 2:50 PMHavent looked, havent looked, havent looked .... I am guessing a business person who has turned 10 million into 1 million, or something along those lines. Someone who has had a major business failure.

3rd - David Suzuki
Ralph Klien...although it shouldn't be (ultimately the Alberta governments have spent more per capital than any other province..I think:) Ralph enjoyed the benifit of the boom while not addressing real reform in education or healthcare

Donald or Keifer Sutherland
Posted by: rockyt at April 1, 2009 12:39 PMYou guys made me think it would be someone like David Smuk! What, you have never heard of him? Exactly! He is a guy I went to highschool with and you shouldn't know who he is! In my opinion, he is a great choice. I read this book one time, it was about marketing, and it said that if you market your company it might do better...the strangest thing...but I believe it! I didn't know that there was a rule that you cannot market your company if your speaker does not have a background matching your company focus. You learn something new every day.
I work in construction and this one time I went and watched Clive Beddoe speak about the airline industry. Maybe I shouldn't have done that because what does the Canadian airline industry have to do with me and construction? I shouldn't have an interest in him? What a waste of my life...if you havn't figured it out, my analogy is, maybe entrepreneurs might have an interest in listening to another perspective on the Canadian Economy? Maybe the rest of the business community might like to change things up little and go listen to a dinamic speaker while supporting entrepreneurs at the same time? In fact, I am going to buy a ticket right now because I think it will be a pretty good event.

Do these ads increase their bottom line in the weeks following the Superbowl? You betcha. Sounds like a good marketing strategy to me.
