"Why did CNN employ someone like this for at least the last two years? "
More, including transcripts, on Nidal Rafa at Honest Reporting.
This woman worked for CNN? Yikes!!!
Posted by: Robert W. at March 18, 2009 3:22 PMOn the related NRO piece there's this: "When I spoke to Rafa it was clear that, like many (but by all means not all) Arab journalists working for CNN, Reuters, the Associated Press, and other major Western news providers in the Middle East, she didn’t think there was any contradiction between working as a journalist for an international news outlet and holding extreme anti-Israeli views."
Do you realize that during the Bush years an almost identical sentence could have been used:
"When I spoke to [most any liberal reporter] it was clear that, like many (but by all means not all) journalists working for CNN, Reuters, the Associated Press, and other major Western news providers in America, s/he didn’t think there was any contradiction between working as a journalist for an international news outlet and holding extreme anti-American views."
Posted by: Robert W. at March 18, 2009 3:27 PMAll together now: only newspapers and the professional journalists they employ can sort fact from fiction, not the blogosphere!
Posted by: Mississauga Matt at March 18, 2009 3:30 PMThe left's idea of debate: shout (or shut) the other person down.
Posted by: Doug at March 18, 2009 3:54 PMNo surprise at all...
"It is clear that Nidal Rafa went beyond the boundaries that a media professional should be expressing in public. Rafa was at this event in her capacity as a media professional and not as a Palestinian activist. If Rafa is unable to separate the personal from the professional in this setting, how can we trust content from CNN or other media organizations to which Rafa has contributed?
As Tom Gross notes, there are many Arab employees of media organizations carrying out a professional job under trying circumstances. Nidal Rafa is not one of them. Media organizations need to make far greater efforts to avoid hiring Palestinian activists as journalists and producers in the future."
And many other news sources I'm afraid.
Isn't it ironic ( credit internet - and credible sites ) that truth seeps through, on shoe strings of budgets as opposed to millions of networks that get it so wrong, either by design or by ineptness.
Blogs are great.
They are the new public airways for a voice of the real people not the mandated tv or other MSM ones.
Matt, whether it be this vile twit or any of the liberal reporters over here in North America, the only consistency is their absolute denial in admitting that they are ABSOLUTELY UNABLE to keep their deep-seated biases out of their reporting.
For decades they've pretended that their training enables them to rise above the fray and "just present the facts". This myth complete drove off the road last year during the hate-fest against Sarah Palin.
Posted by: Robert W. at March 18, 2009 4:21 PMI'm sorry but look at her portrait and then ask yourself again why she managed to have a successful career run.
Unfortunately, being a cutie can be a huge career advancer, possibly the number one qualification in airheaded crap like the TV news business.
Posted by: abcd at March 18, 2009 4:39 PMOk, was it just me, or was it impossible to understand any more than one in every 400 words this hysterical nut was babbling?
About halfway through some old guy turns around and says something to her. (Big Deal).
If journalists are so wonderfully professional why didn't they force this shrieking harpy to S.T.F.U. and sit down? Oh, course not.
Journalists are scumbags.
Posted by: JJJ at March 18, 2009 5:24 PMI'll get a chili dog, a pack of Export "A" Extra-Lites, a pack of Dentyne and a Slurpee please, now shut up & put it in the bag & give me my change bitch.
Posted by: JJJ at March 18, 2009 5:37 PMNo bias in the MSM??
What a joke, no wonder why the internet will bury them eventually.
Posted by: Knight 99 at March 18, 2009 5:54 PMThe older gentleman said "You are not the only one here"
His words fell on deaf ears
Now you know why you don't have a state.
Posted by: Matt at March 18, 2009 7:49 PMI lasted 38 seconds into the video.
I thought the man with the microphone was very nice. I'd have had her chucked her out, myself.
Posted by: The Phantom at March 18, 2009 9:54 PMI just wanted her to SHUT UP.
Posted by: JJM at March 18, 2009 10:11 PMThe first error was in thinking she's a journalist.
What she is and was all a long is a propagandist working for the Paleos.
Just the latest of a long line of pro terrorist 5th columnists that MSMs employ and do so without caring what the consequences are.
The egregious AP and Reuters cases of knowingly using doctored photos and spreading false stories produced by people like Nidal Rafa, the decades of BBC supporting and encouraging these people... these are enough reason to say without hesitation that the MSM cannot be trusted.
I'm sure that Even the chuckle heads at Chicken Noodle News knew perfectly well what they were getting.
Now to bring this into better context .... these are the same people who millions of people believe are actually informing them about their own economies, their national interest and their personal well being.
The BEST possible thing that could happen is for these major media organizations to be bankrupted and burned and buried in quicklime.
abcd is correct - she's attractive looking so she gets to spout off and do what she likes as long as she is advancing the cause. no headscarf or burkha for her.
Posted by: Brian M. at March 18, 2009 11:52 PMI was half expecting the loudmouth to thwack the old guy in front of her who was wearing the yarmulke ...
Ayalon should have rapped his thumb against his fingers in the universal symbol for "yap yap yap".
Posted by: nv53 at March 19, 2009 2:29 AMI half expected "Ulululululululuulu".

Hmmm, don't know Phantom, you are being easy, with my N. Louisi-Yana forced Proletariat upbringing I would have had to reach across the podium and slap the Bejezus out of her.
No Offense directed to Conservative Women who know how to shoot.
