Carbon belching, gas guzzling, murderer of third-world innocents?

It'd be more guzzly and belchy if it was a V4, Kate. Twice the blue smoke for every twist of the wrist. ~:D

But we know how the Greenies want it. Their aim is to stop man-made climate change by killing everybody. Starvation appears to be their chosen method, with carbon taxes being the prime mover of the economic destruction.

Needlessly complex, it seems to me.

Makes you look back on the Soviet era with admiration, don't it? They didn't screw around with carbon taxes and stuff like that, they just loaded all the food on a truck and drove away. Those were some guys who could really arrange a famine!

Young people today, they just don't read history.

Posted by: The Phantom at March 11, 2009 3:15 PM

I don't believe we will achieve those expected population rises. There will either be a 'kill-off' or a die-off for whatever reason before the end of the century.

If you consider the situation in the world today, it's hard to believe that we are about to live happily ever after with a couple of billion more consumers added to the line ups we already have.

How many people does Gaia actually need to protect it?

Posted by: Momar at March 11, 2009 3:21 PM

The corollary being that how many people won't die from winter-born deseases like freezing to death?

They didn't say.

Posted by: Dr. Strangelove at March 11, 2009 3:27 PM

OH GOD THEY'VE UPDATED THEIR WILD SPECULATION OF FUTURE CLIMATE RELATED DEATHS, NOW THEY ARE GOING TO INCREASE TO DOUBLE THE TINY FRACTION OF CURRENT TRAFFIC DEATHS THEY CURRENTLY CONSTITUTE. WHERE DO I SIGN UP TO PAY 25% MORE TAX SO BUREAUCRATS CAN PRETEND TO FIX THIS????

I like your license plate number, can you spray paint mine with that anti camera stuff, theres a huge market for that stuff.

Vancouver Mayor and council want to turn some of the lawns at city hall into community gardens.
One of the guests on a talk show yesterday said that lawns are the very worst thing you can us eland for.
These people are Loons of the highest order.

"By contrast, just nine percent of the population of developing countries today is aged 60 or over but the proportion will more than double by 2050 to reach 20 percent. "

I would really like to see the chart for this one.

Posted by: Justthinkin at March 11, 2009 3:45 PM

The way to cure these dimwits is send them to a Gulag in Siberia.

Posted by: pacemakerdoug at March 11, 2009 3:48 PM

"Kill-off, or die-off"

I tend to agree with that suggestion. Something has to give, before we reach the tipping point. It may come from a rather abrupt "warming".

So, which one puts out more smoke?

Posted by: dp at March 11, 2009 3:50 PM

Since we are all just a bunch of fruit flies, it only stands to reason that controlling the population (less feet) is the surest way to reduce our carbon foot print. I suggest Paul Ehlich (Population Bomb author)and David Suzuki be the first to remove their carbon footprints from the earth. It is my opinion that these two men tripped out way too many times on LSD in the 60's.

again. carbon based idiots trying to reduce their carbon footprint. please, all who feel this way head for nfld and jump in the ocean swim as far as you can, die and eliminate your carbon footprint.

Posted by: old white guy at March 11, 2009 4:27 PM

Something has to give? Why? That was the premise of "The Population Bomb", which was spectacularly incorrect in its prophecy of doom and gloom. We never factor in the human ability to create solutions to problems. Then again if BHO's gets his way we will be aborting much of the third world and a significant part of the first!

Pacemakerdoug:

Shellac your licence plate with multiple coats of hair spray (good 'ol fashioned Aquanet works great) then wrap your plate with Saran Wrap to keep the hairspray from washing off. That's how MacGuyver would do it. ;)

And on a somewhat related matter, I see that the Chronical Herald in Nova Scotia is reporting on Lizzie May and the potential that she may run in B.C. Here is what the article said (full report at http://thechronicleherald.ca/Canada/1110681.html):

"Ms. May said she’s keen to run in a byelection but hasn’t decided whether to offer in the B.C. riding of New Westminster-Coquitlam, where New Democrat MP Dawn Black is expected to step down soon.

Ms. May also isn’t sure where she’ll run in the next general election, although she has a house in New Glasgow and would like to run again in Central Nova. But many in the party think she is unlikely to beat Mr. MacKay.

She said she may look at Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley, where Bill Casey has announced he won’t run again, or Halifax, where her daughter will soon be attending university.

"I have told the party I’m prepared to look a bit around, although I don’t want to," she said. "ANYTHING IN NOVA SCOTIA IS MORE PALATABLE TO ME THAN HAVING TO MOVE OUT WEST."

Spoken like a true "national" leader. How to make a great impact in the West.

Posted by: John Luft at March 11, 2009 4:35 PM

I love these stories, they make me laugh! Once a week, a little comedy! Every single one: "it will be twice as bad as we thought". Isn't that going exponential yet? Shucks, in another year they are going to be forecasting a worldwide flood of boiling water!

So far it is twice as cold as I'd like to see it right now.

Posted by: Rick at March 11, 2009 4:41 PM

Ill double your double and raise you by a carbon tax

Posted by: cal2 at March 11, 2009 4:53 PM

Hmm, double the deaths by 2080. Wonder if the population might have increased by then, to say double? Move along now, nothing to see here.

Posted by: steve at March 11, 2009 4:58 PM

The inconvenient truth that the warmers misrepresent is that the MWP was prosperous and begat the scandanavian and mongolian population explosions which changed the socio-political struction of the world for a milenia.
The the LIA host the great pandemics...the plagues...Bubonic Plague first manifested in Constantinople in the MWP but then successfully eliminated 2/3 of Eurasias population later during the LIA.
More folk die of cold than heat by a signifigant ratio----perhaps 10-20/1.
Warming = prosperity, good crops, less storms, less severe storms, population spikes....
Coolings = famine, disease and very bad weather.

Posted by: sasquatch at March 11, 2009 5:35 PM

Of course, all western peoples need to sacrifice big cars and big homes because; we have an exponentially growing third world population that would like to move in.

We’ll help them along with subsidized aids drugs and welfare benefits in the billions. We’ll also pressure China and North Korea to stop selling arms to Africa so that they are forced to kill each other with machetes as they did in Rwanda by the millions, but less so with guns.

Considering the limited fresh water and natural resources on the planet it would only make sense to prevent as much natural death as we can in the third world and continue to artificially feed and care for an otherwise balanced natural population.

From mice in a field to mice in a grain bin – as the liberal left would say, why only have a small “minority” percentage of the global population earn a living off their environment when they could have the third world strip it bare and everyone could live in peace as one? Poor, starving and helpless, it’s the only humane thing to do.

Good afternoon Kate; Your truck does not appear to have tinted glass, so I'm guessing no air conditioning, probably got a lil'ole 318 motor too. You're not going to make Gaia cry with that rig.

air, tilt, cruse and 13 mpg with a tailwind.

Could you paint me up the K1300S with the Small Dead Animals logo art?

Reportedly the K1300S is UNSTOPPABLE!

The Donner and Blitzen has arrived.

Hey, Angels of Death are sooo World War II.

Angels of Life sounds somewhat more appealing.

Ahhh, but look at the positive side. Seeing as how it is right outside city hall there will be a free, almost inexhaustable supply of fertilizer.

Lizzie's daughter....Not sure if I'm recollecting things accurately, but is this not the spawn of Pierre Elliot Turdeau?? ....while she was an intern, law clerk or underling (now that would be apt) of this illustrious POS? If I'm mistaken, sorry; then can someone set me straight on who it was? I know it made the news, and it was someone worthy of note at the time.

LOL last weekend we spotted the first one of the season, remarked to hubby 'hey, first bike of the year, he beat the robins'.

Horney Toad said: "Ahhh, but look at the positive side. Seeing as how it is right outside city hall there will be a free, almost inexhaustable supply of fertilizer."

So city council is going to conduct business on the front lawn from now on?
:)

Posted by: ldd at March 12, 2009 12:22 AM

They always leave out some of the news. If it warms up so more people are dying of heat, then it follows that fewer people are dying of cold, especially since the majority of global warming occurs in the colder climates, and during winter. Thus we can expect a huge decrease in the number of deaths from cold, which outnumber heat deaths by 10-1.
