Jeff Cosford - interesting thought. In days long ago, play dates weren't necessary. Nearly every house around had young kids in it (in my old neighbourhood), and we spent at least 10-12 hours per day outside in the summer. No playdates required, you just rang doorbells until you found someone ready to go out.

We now have fear and social isolationism, as well as unpopulated streets. What parent would be deemed responsible letting their kids roam around for hours on end without "supervision"?
