Update: The original video has been edited with the following explanation: "Some of the SDA regulars thought I took Dear Leader's words out of context from the Al Aribiya interview. While I don't believe that you bring a knife to a gun fight, I found some of their objections well reasoned and deleted the "offending" passage."
An exceptional video.
Update - The First Presidential News Conference is being broadcast at the moment... yowza. He simply has no clue what he's talking about. Can this man ah string six words together ah without ah ....?
Expect the shaking to begin from teleprompter withdrawal at any moment...
Helen Thomas just asked "do you know of any countries in the Middle East that have nuclear weapons?" Meaning - here's your chance to finally confirm the bloodthirsty Zionists have the Bomb, oh, One Who Makes My Thighs Quiver.
From the comments - "I watched as long as I could. O Man is as vapid and dumb as a rock. The guy chatters. There isn't a linear line in his brain. He had more disconnected angles going on than Pythagoras. My husband kept muttering "what in the name of God is he saying". And the press, of course, sat in awe. I finally changed channels to the Westminster Dog show."
Me too!
In what, three weeks?
Even Carter took a year or so to start showing that the job was beyond him.
Posted by: AtlanticJim at February 9, 2009 6:34 PMI can't remember this interview exactly, but isn't the commentary a bit misleading - O was saying the Taliban wasn't doing their countries much good - not implying that the American Corps of Engineers wasn't doing positive things. Posted by: Gord Tulk at February 9, 2009 7:24 PMDYNAMITE. Sometimes I think that Obama is as dumb as a bag of hammers. He seems to think that all he has to do is say it nicely and with gravitas and, voila!, it is. Period.
This is what happens when the colour of your skin has opened doors for many, many years and you've risen to positions of authority and privilege without actually having done very much to attain these pinnacles.
Sure, Obama has a smooth as velvet voice and has a way with words (sort of, though the barf metre's working overtime), but if you actually pay attention to what he's saying, he often has no idea what he's talking about -- or is madly spinning reality to fit his idea of Utopia, to which he's totally committed and to which he is determined to commit the American people.
He's a train wreck about to happen just around the corner. Too bad the American electorate was so busy looking at the bunting and the gourmet menu that they failed to see that the undercarriage was shot.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/016/127rjsvd.asp?pg=1
"Democrats couldn't hide their self-consciousness about the excesses of their own bill. Supporters made few TV appearances to defend it and rarely talked about specific spending items. Obama sounded like Al Gore on global warming. The more the case for man-made warming falls apart, the more hysterical Gore gets about an imminent catastrophe. The more public support his bill loses, the more Obama embraces fear-mongering. "The failure to act, and act now," the president said last week, "will turn a crisis into a catastrophe"
BO has overstated his case. if he does it again on another bill, his credibility and his only weapon - his aura - will be come inoperative and he will a one-term lame duck and the US will be left to negotiate some very dangerous shoals both economically, domestically and internationally.
Posted by: Gord Tulk at February 9, 2009 7:48 PMIF, in this video, Obama's remarks have been deliberately framed out of context—as Diane Sawyer apparently did with comments of Rush Limbaugh's—this video should be withdrawn and properly edited.
From what I’ve seen before of this interview, I believe that Obama's remarks indict him. However, if his remarks here have been spun—if the criticisms he makes are actually aimed at the Taliban and not the troops—the credibility of his critics is also highly suspect.
There’s more than enough on Obama to sink him. Playing dirty, the way he and his cronies are used to, is no credit to our side.
I’d appreciate it if someone could verify if Obama’s criticisms were aimed at the US troops or the Taliban. If the latter, the video needs to be withdrawn as it stands or, potentially, do serious harm to those who, quite rightly, I believe, consider Obama an empty suit.
repeat after me.
Change is the Same
Change is the Same.
four legs good, two legs better.
lookout - I agree. I'm listening live to his first press conference. Very puerile - still talking about "the failed policies of the last four years" that got us here. Idiot - lending out loans to those who couldn't pay did - started by the Dems. Also, he was convinced that FDR's policies led the US out of the Great Depression - wrong again - his bad policies deepened and prolonged a recession to a depression (Smoot Hawley etc)
So, this vid doesn't do it for me - there are many more serious indicting things out there.
Posted by: Erik Larsen at February 9, 2009 8:19 PMAnd, he's immature. He said that "he inherited this" economic situation.
Too bad. Big boys don't say things like that.
Posted by: Erik Larsen at February 9, 2009 8:27 PMIf anyone feels the editing of this video is misleading, it's not any more misleading than the President himself.
The point of the comments, and the way they were edited, was to show that we have been doing these things all along and that he's never given George W. Bush or anyone else credit for the job that we've been doing over there. (And I can say that because I edited the video.)
You just don't show up and say, "I'm your savior. I'm going to feed you, I'm going to heal you and I'm going to educate you. And because I'm going to all that you and I will FINALLY get along because I've dispatched that bastard Bush back to Texas."
Posted by: EJHill at February 9, 2009 8:32 PMObama's an "adult toddler". Physically, he's an adult. Intellectually and morally, he's in a state of arrested development.
So, how did such an intellectual and moral pygmy become the POTUS? Because far too many in our society are also “adult toddlers”: magical thinkers because reality’s just too damn difficult. (A number of such people are in my own family. I pointed out to one that his desire for Obama to be president, BECAUSE he is black, is basically racist: we don’t talk much about Obama these days!)
Our elites are full of these stunted individuals. They hold the balance of power, which is going to mean a lot of ruin for a lot of us.
At least, in Obama, the Emperor with no clothes is now on full public display. Now, that such an empty person has reached the pinnacle of power, no amount of smoke and mirrors will be able to hide the gaping hole where common sense, knowledge, integrity, and guts should be.
Poor us.
P.S. But once we realize how far we've fallen, MAYBE we'll begin to smarten up and not be so willing to be duped.
Maybe . . .
Posted by: lookout at February 9, 2009 8:49 PMMan, his answer about "prosecuting Bush officials for war crimes" was pretty lousy.
Is there a site that's live blogging on his speech?
I'm going crazy here listening to this.
Posted by: Erik Larsen at February 9, 2009 8:55 PMThe thing is, Bush, while not perfect, never said "it's not my fault", he just let stuff roll off his back and tried to move forward. Obama - man, again and again, he's exculpating himself.
We all know that there were mere men previously holding the office of President of the United States - but they tried, I think, to be as large as that office.
This guy, man, he's saying far too much "it's those other guys that got us here"
The US (and rest of the world) are in for a long four years. The great community organizer is on the US national networks trying to sell his plans of spending his way to prosperity. Mr Non-partisan has already mentioned several times the economic crisis he "inherited". I guess he hasn't talked to Barney Frank and the rest of the dirty finger gang that have been feathering their nests for decades. For this small c conservative, this bozo is scarey.
btw, at this press conference the Huffington Post actually has press credentials and allowed questions. No surprise that the question was prosicuting Bush for war crimes.
Posted by: Texas Canuck at February 9, 2009 9:02 PMMarci Macmillan of CTV News has just said she lost track of how many times Obama said the word crisis-is he asking for help or pity for this crisis or is it just something to hide behind and have a built in excuse for failure.

Posted by: Erik Larsen at February 9, 2009 9:21 PMlookout's remark about O being a "adult toddler" may seem hyperbolic, but it ain't.
An old friend experienced a depression in the early 90s. His shrink gave him a book to read: The Adult Adolescent. He grew up in a seriously dysfunctional family, his father being a manic-depressive alcoholic. The shrink said that his emotional needs had not been met during his childhood.
Clearly, Obama's family background was weird. It would seem that his narcissism is some sort of compensation.
Posted by: Me No Dhimmi at February 9, 2009 9:27 PM(MND, I appreciate your input. Obama's a "type": one I both know and despise.)
I've just watched O's speech. (Erik Larsen, I share your frustration.)
I'm no fan, but some words of advice to the Great O: keep it short and simple, buddy.
To be able to duck and weave, this guy said FAR too much. Most of it was hot air, but all of it can--and will--come back to haunt him.
I almost--almost--felt sorry for O as he went on and on and on . . . round and round in circles. He could have said what he wanted to say in 5 minutes at the most. (This man likes the sound of his own voice.) He and his incompetent advisors are idiots, but, seeing as O is an Emperor, they'll all be the last to see it.
Fortunately, a lot of "little boys" are noticing . . .

Posted by: penny at February 9, 2009 9:59 PMI agree with lookout on the "Out of context" remark. Obama was talking about Bin Laden and Zawahiri. Once a fence sitter decides to listen to the interview, the whole video may become marginalized.
Posted by: Dave at February 9, 2009 10:04 PMThe Democrats/left aren't really listening to WHAT Obama is saying; they are listening to and are mesmerized by his preaching.
And that's what the Press Conference was - a kind of Rev. Wright 'sermon', emotionally heightened by preset questions from the audience.
And using Obama's three main tactics:
-misinformation
-manipulation of emotions of hope and fear
-accusations that if you don't agree with him then you are biased
It wasn't a conference of facts but a sermon. It told 'the people' who come to this Church, that their Preacher/Sovereign was going to fix everything. That's Hope.
Because now that HE has arrived, he will fix things - the crisis, the disaster, the apocalyptic mess..left by the previous administration. That's Fear.
The Cause of our current Evil, our Preacher-Sovereign kept telling us is based in the past 8 years - and he kept on and on with this - blaming Bush for all the problems, telling us that we are on the verge of disaster.
And he is going to fix it all. He's going to provide 4 million jobs. So there. And we all know how easy it is to fix statistics. Oh, and will these jobs all be in the expanding public service rather than small and medium size private businesses? The Preacher/Sovereign didn't say.
But boy, does he like to talk and talk and talk. Blames it all on Bush..as if the economy only started in the last 8 years.
Misinformation - telling us that Japan took 10 years to get out of their 'bust', because they did nothing, when in reality there was massive government intervention and it didn't speed up the recovery.
The questions asked were irrelevant; they didn't explore, probe, what was really in the package, how it would create jobs. Nothing. Stupid questions like 'are the Taliban hiding in Pakistan'?
And endlessly, Obama referring to himself as The One to Fix everything. It was a campaign speech, and that's all that we are going to see from Obama. Campaign speeches.
Posted by: ET at February 9, 2009 10:21 PMI agree, ET.
I remarked to my husband, after listening to the O's empty remarks: he exactly reminds me of "X", the full of himself, self-cheerleader, empty headed, idiot preacher at our ex-church.
(The above mentioned person has--emptying--pews full of acolytes, just like St. Obama. The rest of us have "left the building".)
Posted by: lookout at February 9, 2009 10:42 PMThat speech was the worst performance I have ever seen by a public official. When Obama is on TV, I always blank the TV, or leave the room. It makes a huge difference when you HEAR him talking about a subject instead of watching him whip his head back and forth like he's watching a tennis tournament.
That gets rather distracting.
And have you noticed how condescending and angry he sounds?
This is bad news for all of us, because an Uber Socialist with complete power can be so very, very dangerous to everybody.
I am beginning to lean towards him being the Anti-Christ as outlined in Nostradamus' Centuries.

CNN is but a shadow of what was once a good news network. Now it's entertainment tonight.
It had been on a long downhill slide, but the disgusting coverage of the last campaign, and it's over-the-top feet kissing of THE ONE, did it for me.
it is very difficult to watch any mass media news network for more than 5 minutes without a mixed feeling of disgust and depression, for the spin and holier-than-thou attitude of our enlightened talking heads behind a desk.
Yes, O is vapid, but he fits right into what so many want nowadays. Style over substance. Showbiz 'news' is more important than real news.

Of course, he was just playing for time: "If I talk, and talk, and talk, round, and round, and round in cirlces, maybe I'll find an answer." He never did. He just kept drilling the hole deeper.
Obama had better get off the "poor me, I inherited this mess" pretty fast. He comes across as a sucky, whiney dolt: no leader, that's for sure -- but anyone with ears to hear with and eyes to see with already knew this.
The MSM is going to be working overtime to protect him, seeing as they were perhaps THE major factor in getting him elected.
Very rough seas ahead.

Posted by: Tim in VT at February 10, 2009 9:01 AMFrom p. 2 (of 13 in the NYT) of Obama's Press Briefing (note the hyperbolic language):
"Now after many weeks of debate and discussion, the [recovery] plan that ultimately emerges from Congress must be big enough and bold enough to meet the size of the economic challenges that we face right now. It's a plan that is already supported by businesses representing almost every industry in America, by both the Chamber of Commerce and the AFL-CIO. It contains input, ideas and compromises from both Democrats and Republicans. It also contains an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability, so that EVERY AMERICAN WILL BE ABLE TO GO ONLINE AND SEE WHERE AND HOW WE’RE SPENDING EVERY DIME.” (Emphasis mine)
“What it does not contain, however, is a single pet project, not a single earmark, and it has been stripped of the projects members of both parties found most objectionable.”
Who believes such categorical, outlandish rubbish from this snake oil salesman? (61% over at CTV!) As I’ve noted, loving the (vacuous) sound of his own voice and not really knowing what he’s talking about, Obama says far too much: his weasel words can—and will—be used against him and, without knowing it, he’s setting traps for himself. (And he’s supposed to be so smart . . .)
So BHO the 'cool' president who can't get the job done pre-empts House, the a-hole doctor who always get the job done. Personally, I rather be a successful a-hole then a 'cool' incompetent.
