Yoo Hoo, Greyhound....

President Obama needs you curbside - "Is this, like, some kind of karmic payback for all the Joe-the-plumber tax business?".

Get it stright.

YOUR job is paying taxes.

THEIR job is spending them.

Where'as the OUTRAGE from the MSM?

OK Just a rhetiorical joke. It's almost as if the media is keeping their fingers crossed.

Posted by: RW at February 5, 2009 7:44 PM

Maybe the MSM has tax problems too.

Posted by: Gord G. at February 5, 2009 7:54 PM

A cup of wine , some taxes , for thou .

Posted by: Bill D. Cat at February 5, 2009 8:05 PM

I think that this is Obamas way of raising money for the country. Get the taxes "oweing" list and appoint these people to something, anything. When it becomes known that they owe taxes, they will probably pay up. Amazing is there nothing Obama can't do.

Posted by: Cal at February 5, 2009 8:07 PM

So... I'm just wondering, are there any Democrats out there who have actually paid their taxes on time and in full?

Perhaps the best stimulus package Obama can built is one that just has all the Democrats out there paying up their taxes.

Posted by: BigFoot at February 5, 2009 8:11 PM

Karmic payback? Hell no!

This is just the normal kinda payback for hanging with the bad kids. These people have important positions in the DemocRat party, they need BIG closets for all their skeletons. DC contractors are making money remodeling, know what I mean?

Karmic payback for this guy is going to be more of a rain of toads, plague of boils type thing.

Posted by: Bill D. Cat at February 5, 2009 8:20 PM

Reminds one of the Libranos. It's the old "Natural Governing Party Rule". You don't pay your taxes unless your Party is in power.

Posted by: Gunney99 at February 5, 2009 8:21 PM

The absurd has become reality. It is amusing and can be an excellant example of "whatcomes around goes around" yet these people control the future of the freemarket and the future of our largest trading partner. This is serious and the voice of bloggers will be critical waking up the population to the dangers unfolding.

Posted by: janet at February 5, 2009 8:28 PM

Are the Democrats bigger crooks and tax scammers than our LPC ??

Posted by: Fred at February 5, 2009 8:31 PM

No freaking wonder the US has no money and is going broke! Democrats don't pay their freaking taxes!!!!!

This is becoming a most incredible gong show.

Come on Lefties - bring it on!!!

Posted by: a different bob at February 5, 2009 8:37 PM

Small wonder O has apointed a number of Republicans to his Cabinet

He needed to be able to point to a few taxpaying citizens around the Cabinet table as cover for the Dems he selected!

Posted by: stephen p at February 5, 2009 8:49 PM

No wonder only Republicans complain about paying taxes! This is absolutely beyond anything that a fiction writer could ever dream up! We are only 2 weeks into Obama's term and there are already so damn many scandals it is ridiculous!

Kate, or anyone else out there with a blog, is it possible to track ALL of the scandals going on with Obama? From Rezko and Richardson to Solis? Of course it would have to be updated daily with all the new scandals coming out, but I would just hate to see a case like Blagojevich slip through the cracks.

Posted by: Trent at February 5, 2009 9:19 PM

So the media's president, the big Owe, can't find a taxpaying Democrat. Do I laugh at the media's creation of President or at the sorry state of the country's finances, lacking, so it seems, all those Democrat's taxes.

Posted by: Joe at February 5, 2009 9:24 PM

Please attach with your professionally audited credentials,an IRS tax audit. Thanking you in advance.

But weren't the first hundred days with your eyes closed? They don't count do they? Oh Oh.

Posted by: Speedy at February 5, 2009 9:56 PM

Hellooooooo out there you lefties. Where are youuuuuuuu? You can't hide for four years, can you? I mean, can you.......

Posted by: a different bob at February 5, 2009 10:00 PM

It's getting to the point where BO is going to have to call a convention of democrat leaders from all states together and ask "will anyone who has no tax reporting problems and no illegal nannies working for them please stand-up - i have a cabinet position for you."

Crickets chirping...

Posted by: Gord Tulk at February 5, 2009 10:04 PM

So now I read on USA media that all charges against the bastards that perpetrated the attack on the USS Cole have been dropped. Thats it! You can now kill Americans and it is no longer a crime. Absolutely f-=king amazing!!!!

Well ladies and gentlemen of Canada who love and appreciate our American neighbours to the south - its time to let your feelings known. Here is the way I feel. America - you have just elected the biggest moron your country could ever produce as President of the United States of America. RIP

Posted by: a different bob at February 5, 2009 10:28 PM

oh well, at least he didn't nominate Rod Blagojevich as his ethics advisor ... what's that ... you're kidding.

Posted by: Peter O'Donnell at February 5, 2009 10:29 PM

different bob. I think they are dropping the charges but they aren't letting him go. If I have it right it is the process that will change.

Posted by: Speedy at February 5, 2009 10:44 PM

It's still a travesty, speedy, if the court had followed the two hundred years of precedents on the subject of military tribunals we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.

For a group of commenters who supposedly support smaller government and less interference in their lives, I'm amazed at the assumption here that just because the IRS (or Can. Rev.) SAYS 'you' owe them, that 'you' really do! From all accounts, not unlike the HRCs in their ability to interpret the law in whatever manner they see fit.
Lest anyone forget, here in Canada at least, regarding Can. Rev., you ARE guilty unless proven innocent.

Posted by: DaninVan at February 6, 2009 2:19 AM

What is really funny is hearing Canadian MSM gush over The OWE ( I like that description). I feel very sorry for the American Republicans who were so disgusted that they stayed home on voting day because they did not like McCain and/or were fed up with the 'liberal ways' of the Republicans in Washington.

Voting for the LESSER of the two BADS is never the wrong thing to do...as we see here - let this be a warning to Canadians. But for our nation's outrage, we would have a Troika of Bolsheviks running our country - an outfit that would make The OWE look like Margaret Thatcher (without the gang of crooks).

I'm loving every minute of this. I forecast that an Obama administration would be a "train wreck" to my wife during the presidential campaign. But, I certainly didn't foresee these kinds of Truth-Is-Stranger-Than-Fiction types of developments. Certainly not within days of his inauguration.

/sits back

/cracks open a beer

/munches some popcorn

This is gonna be entertaining........

Posted by: Colin from Mission B.C. at February 6, 2009 2:55 AM

Yes, Colin, I agree with you that some of the speed of the decline is surprising.

Unlike you though I can't say I'm loving every minute of it - I'm not much of a Schadenfreude type - I'm too self-interested, and because Canada is so closely linked to the US, I was just hoping that minimally bad things would develop slowly.

I would vote for McCain in 2012!

The irony of Joe the Plumber is that he really was "just some guy in the neighborhood."

Weakest comeback of the year award...

Hey, we're also law & order guys that believe you pay first and appeal AFTER. It IS how it was set up, oh and I'm more of a LIBERTARIAN. So I'm all for the inescapability & no write off of the good ol' FLAT TAX. Fair taxation for ALL!

Posted by: the bear at February 6, 2009 8:49 AM

Daninvan is actually correct. The US tax code is so large and so self contradictory, given a sufficiently determined auditor it is possible to be in violation no matter what you do. (And gee, how did it get that way?)

However, that doesn't seem to be the case with these Dems. These are plain ol' "didn't pay" kinds of issues. They said you owe $X, you pay it first, THEN you sue them. And good luck with the sue-age.

Sometimes the obvious answer is the correct one: they're f-ing crooked.

BTW, in Canada you don't have rights. You have privileges. Which can be revoked by the Crown at any time, just by passing a bill through Parliament.

Innocent until proven guilty... unless its inconvenient for somebody important. We need to fix that.

the first 100 days. by the time it gets to one hundred we will think we are in a time warp. the insanity will continue until obama starts a civil war. he should read a little more. the u.s. military pledge to uphold the constitution not the commander in chief.

Posted by: old white guy at February 6, 2009 4:06 PM

BigFoot got it out first, but really, are there ANY tax-paying democrats? Good grief, for all their advocacy of more and bigger government, how in G#d's name did they think all this was funded? Maybe they really do believe in the tooth fairy. Hey liberals: we need your help on this one. Where do you honestly think the money to run the government comes from? I'm curious more than anything.
