Bam!

The door!. Now, go to sleep.

Related - smell the bipartisanship! 11 Democrats cross floor to join Republicans in opposing Obama's 800B bucks of pork.

And the MSM kept telling us yesterday that the era of bi-partisanship is still not upon us as the "Republicans" voted unanimously against the bill. No word on 4 or 5 broadcasts that some Dems voted against it. Deceit by omission. Again.

It was the same when the first bailout bill failed in Congress just prior to the Presidential election - the MSM reported that Republicans defeated it, when in fact, enough GOP voted for the bill to pass it, had only all the Democrats voted for it too.

I'm not sure why any conservative gives a rat's arse if the GOP or Dems are in power.

With a deficit somewhere between 1 and 2 TRILLION USD's the GOP isn't upset the gov isn't lowering spending, they're upset the increase in the deficit isn't going to tax cuts.

When you have trillion dollar deficits, you don't cut taxes. And the GOP is EVERY bit as bad at pork spending and other unforgiveable waste.

There is ZERO choice for even barely tolerable government in the US. Last time it was tea in the harbour, this time I recommend drinking the tea and throwing the politicians into the harbour.

Warwick:

Buster the Cat can give you a 'rat's arse' if you wish.

Tea with the Queen and throw the politicians in the harbour, now you just may have a plan there Warwick!

Thus we will have Paul Revere signal from the Old North Church

"One if by land, two if by sea, three if high tea with the Queen."

Damned history revisionists, eh?

What is interesting is how Obama handles opposition to his desires. He doesn't accept it as having any rational validity. Instead, he redefines it as due to some fault in you, the opposer.

So, he says that opposition to this financial bill is not and cannot be, due to any faults in his plan. No, it's due only to your political bias. You are politically partisan and must overcome this psychological neurosis in yourself and do What Is Right.

He can't handle criticism from the Press; he tends to denigrate and chastize people in the MSM who criticize him.

This is the characteristic of a narcissist ..compare with our own Jean Chretien, also a narcissist, who viciously fought anyone who dared to oppose him.

I think this characteristic of Obama, his narcissism and his rejection of criticism, is very, very disturbing. He wants a Congress deprived of the right and duty to think, debate and critique. He is The King, the Sovereign. Watch for more of this behaviour.

CNN Xenophobe Lou Dobbs was sucking up to one of these heretics last night. It seems the blue dogs want to repeal NAFTA. Protectionism worked how well in the 30s?

I'd be careful before lauding these guys as brothers in arms.

Warwick, my comments weren't about defending anyone - they pertain to accuracy in reporting. Or honesty, Take your pick.

Posted by: Kate at January 29, 2009 11:39 AM

Kate,

My comments weren't directed at your comments so much as my disgust at the GOP for being so useless (as per the second link.)

The media can't tell the truth. They don't have it in them to admit the truth even if they were capable of recognizing it - which they're not.

In hell, the ring of lawyers is a couple of steps above the ring of journalists.

WOW only 11 Democrats that are worried about 2010!

Posted by: Phillip G.Shaw at January 29, 2009 11:56 AM

How ironic...because in Canada the consevatives crossed the floor to join the liberals to pass a stimulas budget.
Where is the principles of conservativism?

Posted by: 'biff at January 29, 2009 12:02 PM

biff: it's called political survival. If you don't survive conservatism is just another word. If you do survive, conservative is possible in the future. King Canute perched his throne on the shore and commanded the tide to stop. He got wet feet and a tarnished reputation. If 3 out of 4 Canadians want their government to spend $275,000 for each job created, what the hill can Harper do?
Can you imagine the CBC or CTV educating Canadians to economic reality? Not me.

Posted by: Gunney99 at January 29, 2009 12:28 PM

King Canute ordered to the tide to stop as a lesson that he wasn't infallable. He didn't expect the tide to stop...

"biff: it's called political survival. If you don't survive conservatism is just another word. If you do survive, conservative is possible in the future."

I wish I had your optimism.

Posted by: MJ at January 29, 2009 1:09 PM

I am optimistic. I see a more conservative approach in belief, spreading throughout the general population. Harper has 45% approval; the Reform Party had below 20% between elections. Things are looking positive. The disaster building momentum to our South has the chance to be a lesson. The insane increase in violent crime is a lesson. The economic boom we just went through is a lesson. All teach conservatism is the best philosophy. Not perfect, but the best.

Posted by: Gunney99 at January 29, 2009 4:52 PM

Gunny 99...I love your optimism...I appreciate the idea that you and others sence its it better to give little to stay in power longer...its just it looks bad to me when a Liberal budget is dressed in Conservative drag. We've been through this before with Kim Campbell...and look where that led us. Three consecutive terms of Jean (less than) Chretien.
