Take Me, Obama

Heaving bosoms at the Associated Press;

Washington pulsed with anticipation of Obama's swearing in as the nation's first black president. The city was aflutter with preparations for four days of parties and pomp, shadowed at every turn by layer upon layer of security.

Yeah, and I just read your link, and heaved, too... ;-)

It is remarkable how heavily Obama is focused on the media, on his image within the media, on his control of the media, on his presentation of Himself to the public within this media.

As I said, he reminds me, in a larger scale, of our own narcissistic Jean Chretien, who has a similar self-absorbed focus, a similar singular agenda of obtaining and retaining personal power.

Remember Chretien's response to Mad Cow disease? He had a photo of Himself taken eating beef. His response to SARS? Had the entire cabinet flown, at great expense, to Toronto, for a photo of them all, alive and smiling, in Toronto.

Even Ronald Reagan, with a long career in the films, wasn't as focused on the portrayal, the Act, the Role in the Public Eye, as is Obama. Indeed, I wonder if Obama is even aware of reality, or does he walk always within a fictional narrative of his own creation?

Is the public, who are watching this film, directed by and staring Obama Himself, are they aware that they are living in a fictional world?

"Heaving bosoms at the Associated Press"

Bernard Golberg astutely refers to American MSM as "slobbering" in regards to their Obama love-in.

That would be BERNARD GOLDBERG.

The Left is up to it's usual fantasy that Obama will be the savior of all things. We will soon all be happy, peaceful, prosperous.

Four years from now he will be as unpopular as G W Bush. He has inherited a shit sandwich that only time will cure. Four years ain't enough time for this mess. And all the government 'help' is making it worse by the minute.

Our enemies don't care about the Obama. They still hate us and see Obama's tenure as an opportunity to make gains.

When President George W. Bush was inaugurated, the cost was $40million. The msm went balistic over the cost of the event.

Obama's inauguration will cost $120million. Not a word about the cost from the msm.

Posted by: Paul M at January 17, 2009 6:46 PM

Thanks for that figure Paul M. That was my question on reading Kate's headline: How much is this going to COST?

My next comment was going to be, how come the MSM aren't going ballistic about it, when the economy's in a ... ahem ... downturn?

BARAK BLING = BIG BUCKS, ALRIGHT. BUT WHO'S COUNTING?

My blood pressure's going to be soaring for the next four years ... or at least until reality bites and the MSM reports it.

Kate....is there any way to train dogs to sniff out commies/socialists/leftards as opposed to conservatives? We are going to need a shit load of them on our southern border in about a year as 10% of the Yanks try to get into Canada. We want the conservatives, not the others.

Oh my goodness, I'm not the only one to notice.

I am at a hotel, the Airport Hilton, in Toronto, and the TV in the bar has CNN; fortunately no sound.

But you can see everyone drooling. Here comes the Messiah's train. Look, what a compassionate and man-of-the-people he is, wanting to shake everyone's hand (Hey, reality check: He's a politician; they shake every hand in sight).

Here is the magnificent sweep of the One's Progress to Assension.

The CNN people want to sevice his private parts.

The Ubermessiah's team is very good at planning symbolic situational events. We will wait to see how it works out.

I still can't get over the fact that this man, although his skin is brown, is not of an African-American heritage; no slaves in his familly, unl;ess they were slaves to Arab slave owners.

It's all about skin colour.

Hopefully, this crap will be over after Tuesday; heaven forbid it last 8 years.

Shouldn't take too long . . . he has surrounded himself with an unusually inept group of socialists, wannbe internationalists, naive global diplomats and acolytes of the Church if Climate Scientology. He believes that the Government can "create jobs and wealth" and that health care can be delivered and paid for by Executive Orders.

The USA will survive but this administration is going to inflict a huge amount of economic and moral pain before it is flushed down the historical toilet.

I can't wait for him to give a speech about why he should be able to vote "Present" and having the ass-kissing MSM and White House Press Corp support him.

Nary a peep about the 'sexual harassment' that was so evident and so evil should any other mere mortal man be so serviced. What mattered wasn't the action it was the fact that he was on the leftist/feminist side.

Bunch of Obamite cheerleaders. Just like all those brainless Britney-worshippers. And they get to report the "news"? Uh-oh...

I see...

He promised to bring the country "a new Declaration of Independence" - free from small thinking, prejudice and bigotry.

And I just had to do one of those posts I do sometimes to sound off... really, really sound off... about something as bizarre as that. Somebody has to say strong, aggressive stuff about the Hard Left and its leadership to counter what they say about us normal folks, our moderate, non-Lefist leaders and the Free World as we know it. I guess sometimes I just wanna say, "Screw moderation... they want us to be timid and tame... like hell I will, as they sure aren't!"

http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2009/01/scary-obama-says-new-declaration-of.html

When I learn of Leftists planning to do stuff like that, I just have to say something...

I see he also invokes MLK... I wonder what he thinks of MLK's standing with Israel? Will BHO stand with Israel, too, come Jan. 20th, or sit down and chat with Hamass over a spot o' tea? What, will BHO pick and choose from the positions of MLK?

Also disturbing to me is the "act with a fierce urgency" declaration of B. Hussein Obama... sounds scary. You know, if a Republican or a Conservative said that... imagine what the Left would be saying about them!

Posted by: The Canadian Sentinel at January 17, 2009 7:38 PM

The Crash of reality will not hit these people unless and until the man leaves office. We had Trudeaumania in 1968 and even after 16 years in office and untold damage to this country there are those , admit it, who still drool over his name, his time as PM and his children , surviving that is, who may take up the Trudeau mantle and sally forth in the name of Liberals everywhere in Canada.
Obama will be no different only on a larger and more sophisticated scale. Which will make the urge to lurch even more overwhelming.
Get set. This is only the beginning and it could be a very long time before anything close to reason returns to America in politics.
They are already preparing legislation to remove the 22 Amendment to allow Obama to serve more than two terms. Hopefully endless terms in their view.

And as for the MSM, who have been humping Obama's leg for the past year or so...I give it six months max before they turn on him with a vengeance...

May the games begin...

Hmm... maybe Obama's a Manchurian Candidate, not nuts... maybe he's being controlled by Darth Soros and his mad doctors who completed his programming as a Leftist 'droid? Of course, Darth Soros and the mad doctors would be the nutcases, and poor Barryo the victim, then... Still, is this guy fit to be President, rather than a poor puppet of scary baddies?

Dunno for sure. The guy's a mystery wrapped in an enigma, dipped in a riddle and packaged in a joke that says "Probably not made in the USA"... it's mind-boggling that Americans, of all the world's peoples, elected this guy!

While the MSM Press is entrapped within the Obama narrative, there are some who are focused on the achievements on George W. Bush - and those achievements were remarkable.

Salim Mansur writes on this in the Toronto Sun, and refers to Bush's enabling of democratic freedom to emerge in the Middle East.

Salim Mansur on Bush

He writes: "To believe in freedom, in any sense worthy of consideration, is to believe in setting other people free. This is to some extent within our power, and it is the greatest service we can render; even if it must be, at times, by the sacrifice of our own."

Bush will be remembered long past the quarrels of his time in office, as is Truman, Reagan and the three "great" presidents in American history, for serving with courage and conviction the cause of freedom. "

I fully agree; Bush is one of the great presdients in American History

Mansur writes: "But long after the critics of Bush have bitten dust and been forgotten, people will be talking about him, as they do about Truman, reflecting upon the consequences of his decision that brought freedom for 50 million people in the Arab-Muslim world. How these people build positively upon their freedom, or squander it, will be a commentary upon them and not Bush".

Bringing freedom - that's the legacy of Bush, and I think we will miss his decency and his focus, not on himself (in comparison to Obama's narcissism) but on the well-being of others.

Speaking of a "new Declaration of Independence", I've discovered something concrete about the Obama Left's agenda:

The U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary is considering a bill that would repeal the Constitution's 22nd Amendment prohibiting a president from being elected to more than two terms in office.

Rep. Jose Serrano, D-N.Y., earlier this month introduced the bill, H. J. Res. 5, which, according to the bill's language, proposes "an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President."

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=86324

President for life? Like Putin, Chavez et al.? They, too, are seeking to change their country's constitutions so they can rule indefinitely.

More and more I look, the more and more it does seem that Obama is an extremist who seeks to rule like a dictator by changing the constitution to suit his agenda, whatever it is.

I just love reading all you nancy boys twisting your undies in to knots over Obama. Bahahahahahaha,...

Seriously, Bush screwed everything he touch, so Kate and all you URQ retards, STFU, you have absolutely no right to question or comment on anything any more. You guys have been so complete wrong for the last eight years, about everything, just STFU and let us adults fix the mess you made.

Posted by: anon at January 17, 2009 10:04 PM

The thing is, anon-STFU, most of us here, unlike you, strongly believe in Freedom.

That's political freedom, which means that we support democracy - because democracy means that government rests within the control of the people. And we support freedom of speech - because that means that we all have the right to question, examine, think and analyze and comment on anything we choose.

So, you may imperiously order us to 'shut up' but, sigh, we believe and operate in freedom. So, unlike you, we'll continue to Think. That means that we'll continue to question, examine and debate issues. Cheers.

You have no moral or ethical right to question Obama, none. You and the rest of rightwing retreads here gave up those rights years ago when you never bother to question Bush or Republicans.

Bush screwed things up so bad it may be impossible for anyone to fix the clusterf*** he created.

You nancy boys are the worst joke on the face of planet now, maybe you should just do yourselves the favour and just STFU, or not,... It will be great watching you guys become American Haters for the next eight years, cause after all to question and hate the American President is to hate all things American, sorry your rules and we are holding you to them

anon-STFU. No, we won't shut up. Just because you, as Imperial Ruler, order us to do so, we won't. Why not?

Because we, unlike you, are Free. And we, unlike you, THINK.
Oh, and we don't talk to other people with such rudeness, such arrogance, such 'wash your mouth out with soap' language. I suggest you mature a bit in your interactions with others.

What silly remarks you make - of course Bush was questioned; haven't you heard the debates in Congress? Haven't you heard the debates on the MSM? In the newspapers? In the blogs? Where've you been?

Yes, we have the moral and ethical right to question Obama. Do you know why? Because we are free; and because we think.
Are you seriously trying to remove him from questions? Why? Don't you have the right to question, to examine, to think about, to comment, on his policies? You don't? You've removed Obama from questions? Why?

You say that 'to question and hate the American president is to hate all things American'. Hmm. Doesn't make sense. You are chastizing us for questioning Obama; it sounds like you are saying that IF we question Obama, then this means that we 'hate all things American'. Heh. You've moved Obama out of the realm of accountability, out of the realm of questions. Why is that? That's done only for dictators. Hmmm. Why are you setting him up as a dictator?

Again, Bush was one of the greatest American presidents - and his opening up the ME to democracy, will remain his gift to them. And to us.

Now, anon-STFU- you can wallow in your intense hatred of freedom and your rejection of thinking.

Let us look on the bright side of things. My good liberal spouse is of course watching much television. I try to tune it out. It goes on and on. Coming to an almost massive explosion of news and emotion. I am fine with this, having seen it all before.

I chuckled to watch Wolf Blitzer (CNN) lately. Always wondered what was in the man's inner mind. I struggled to understand his dour expression and almost sphinx like visage. At one time I thought he might be an ill man. Struggling to conceal some nasty, but manageable malady.

Then I saw him yesterday, with two pundits. The man's face seemed to be a lighter colour. He was actually smiling. The male pundit opposite him was virtually incoherent in a professional way. Blitzer looked like a kid who got off stealing a box of toffees.

The subject was Barack Obama.

That was the Clinton administration circa 1999 when it was determined that all people, regardless of race (and apparently income) were owed the 'right' to own a home as opposed to rent a home. Deals were done with lobbyists, banks freed up mortgage credit to ridiculous extremes and viola! Seven years later the bottom begins to drop out. It only takes one major crisis to spook market investors and that was the one that did it.

Little logic or coherent though processes going on just snarling attacks if you challenge them at all. IainGFoulds, a thoughful poster at the National Post wrote this today and I think he has nailed it.

"More and more I recognize that the true denominator of the Left is not political, but psychological. Their political positions are products of a tragically stunted state of development- a failure to mature.
... Thus, like a child, the Left is always a position of personal irresponsibility- irresponsible for one's actions, one's health, one's finances, etc.
... Whereas, the true Right- the path of respect for one's own liberty and that of others, is a life of unfolding maturity- from childhood to old age- accepting the responsibilities and challenges of life with cheerfulness and courage."

That's the left's modus operandi. Like the spoiled, entitled, toddlers they are, when things don't go their way or when their views are challenged, all they know how to do is pull a tantrum and go ballistic. The idea of bringing reasoned and reasonable arguments to the table is completely outside their purview. Tantrums and bullying behaviour worked perfectly well in daycare, in school, and in the few hours they saw their parents every day. Why not now?

It seems that every society has to go through this phase before it realizes that it is the wrong path.
In the early 50’s of the past century, in the grade school, in socialist paradise, Uncle Joe was presented to the students as nothing short of a saint. The students were encouraged to compose poetry, paint pictures and such other expression of the light that Joe radiated to the masses.
The prewar generation was hard to catch with the program, though as you may guess, there was money to be made in proclaiming sainthood of Joe. So there were those, wholly in the sphere of envy that made it work, sending those that did not agree to prison, an engineer was sent to do harvesting of grain to cultivate his rough edges. A lawyer was paving streets with asphalt, which when you come to think of it, was not a bad switch.
Anyway, the proclaimed sainthood of Obama is known mode of operation for those that grew in communist run countries.
Americans, being patient people will be pushed until they can’t be pushed no more. Today’s propaganda machine of the media is so remarkably like the communist propaganda of another time, it is frightening to those with first hand experience.
The way this guy is portrayed in the opinion media and other people that comment on socialist blogs is commonly know as a “Cult of Personality”.
That is what it is.
Obama, to the surprise of those that succumbed to the mass hysteria, will not bring down the sea levels anymore then your neighbor will.
Have a look at the propaganda pictures of the fascists, the nazi, the socialists and the communists, they are remarkably the same, where the muscled worker with his mate goes forward with hammer and some other tools looking to the future with glean in their eyes and grin of satisfaction on their faces.
As it turns out under the …'ists the working man got poorer as the time went on all the while being told how happy and blessed he is by the presence of the dictator.
Cult of Personality is the mode of media today in regard to Obama.

Dear Bush haters: You've been played, manipulated right outta your socks. Maybe that bothers you, maybe it doesn't, but if you're interested in truth, read the whole thing.

From The Anchoress Thank you, President Bush

"Not that he didn’t make his share of mistakes - all presidents make mistakes and wartime presidents make more - but it always seemed to me that when the Arab Springtime was poised to flourish, and President Bush’s approval ratings seemed like they wouldn’t sink, when it became clear that Bush meant what he said about freedom and the human spirit, he had to be taken down. And that was accomplished; it was a group effort. It’s difficult to find a positive word written about him or his policies in any news report after that. Seriously. Go look."

Interesting situation Obama is in: Most everyone is praying that he stays in power ... so that neither Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi get a shot at running things! They're much like the crazy uncle & aunt that we all have but don't talk about, eh?!

A bit late to the thread, but the first paragraph demonstrates quite the disconnect on the part of Mr. Obama

The very country that just elected a black(ish) man, is being called small thinking, prejudiced and bigoted - by the very same man. I can't imagine that he is referring to people who voted for him, so I guess he is describing those who voted for his opponent.

So by describing the supporters of his political opponent as "small thinking, prejudiced bigots",
Obama is demonstrating that he is what? Open minded, unbiased and tollerant?

Apparently neither Obama or the media see the irony in this statement.

ABOARD THE INAUGURAL EXPRESS (AP) - Tracking Abraham Lincoln's historic path to Washington, President-elect Barack Obama launched a four-day inaugural celebration Saturday before thousands of chilled but cheering onlookers from Philadelphia to the nation's capital. He promised to bring the country "a new Declaration of Independence" - free from small thinking, prejudice and bigotry.
