It's high time.

I read somewhere today, maybe the NNW, that a anti Israeli protest in some arab city was cancelled due to lack of protestors.

My prediction:

Whereas the police did nothing to jew-hating protesters they'll harass and threaten pro-Israel protesters.

The jew-haters will be violent and the police will blame the jews.

Posted by: Warwick at January 15, 2009 1:19 PM

Or Carman would call it a "Joo-bilee"

Posted by: Indiana Homez at January 15, 2009 1:19 PM

I wonder if Samuel and Bernie will attend?

Posted by: andycanuck at January 15, 2009 1:19 PM

If I lived in TO I'd be there with bells on.

I note that the Israelis have struck some UN buildings. Probably because there are Hamas terrorists hiding in them. After all they hide in UN ambulances to get around. UN buildings, ambulances, women and children - no matter to them - they all make great sheilds.

Now - wonder if those Israeli bombs can reach the NY Harbor.............. Naw - too bad.

Posted by: a different bob at January 15, 2009 1:28 PM

I think it's only fair to warn people who are planning on attending this event that it is sponsored by the three most repugnant anti-free speech organizations in Canada, according to Ezra Levant: the Canadian Jewish Congress, Bnai Brith, and the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre.

Meaning that not only do you run the risk of being photographed marching with left wing anti-free speech activists and censors, but the event itself is actually bought and paid for by the forces of censorship. Wave goodbye to any credible claims to being libertarian, or conservative, or being in favour of free speech if you attend this rally and get photographed.

Imagine pictures of so-called free speech warriors like, say, Kathy Shaidle walking arm in arm with censorious busybodies like Bernie Farber, Frank Diamant, and even The Bathroom Stall Nazi Hunter, who are responsible for some of the most egregious incursions on liberty in any hemisphere.

I suppose there are plenty of supporters of Israel in its latest war, but the presence of so many anti-free speech activists within the Israeli loyalist camp is so troubling that it is unsurprising that the turnout for this event will be low. Hell, the CJC would probably call Canadians racist against Arabs out of reflex if they did support Israel.

Perhaps if the Jewish community would "clean house" of the race hustlers and censors they will find more support among the Canadian people for Israel's next invasion...

"Now - wonder if those Israeli bombs can reach the NY Harbor.............. Naw - too bad."
Posted by: a different bob | January 15, 2009 1:28 PM

Heh. I always suspected neocons secretly want Israel to bomb America, but to see expressed openly it with one's own eyes is something else altogether. Wow.

Posted by: Abraham Steinberg at January 15, 2009 1:36 PM

Some people understand better than others. Firefighters from NYC hmm... been there done that?

Abraham,

"I always suspected neocons secretly want Israel to bomb America..."

None too bright are you?

The f'ing UN HEADQUARTERS is located on prime riverside property in Manhattan. Given the post you quote was in reference to the UN it shouldn't have been hard to gather the intel on that one.

Posted by: Warwick at January 15, 2009 1:45 PM

Don't look for Sid Ryan to be there.

The Hamas/Hezzbollah supporters may show up to counter them. We may have riots in the streets of Toronto.

Posted by: Liz J at January 15, 2009 1:51 PM

Hey, Steinberg, you had me wavering a bit upon reading your post until you wrote "neocon". Kind of destroyed whatever point you wanted to make. Guess I'll go then on Sunday.

Posted by: Dave at January 15, 2009 2:01 PM

Kate, seeing as how you are #1 in the conservative blogosphere, maybe you should set up some sort of polling widget for all of us to lend our "virtual" support to this rally. We can be there in spirit, if not in body.

Posted by: Louise at January 15, 2009 2:08 PM

Take along a roll of quarters, too. Might come in handy.

Posted by: mojo at January 15, 2009 2:11 PM

Thanks Warwick. Some people are just so dense. Sheeeeesh!

Posted by: a different bob at January 15, 2009 2:18 PM

Agree Louise, a great idea. We can't be there in person.

Man, from what dark, dank obscure place can someone come up with:
"I always suspected neocons secretly want Israel to bomb America..."

Unreal and pathetic.

Abraham,

You're not too good with irony are you ...

Posted by: Charles at January 15, 2009 2:20 PM

"Abraham Steinberg", you're phoney ID and stupid drivel isn't working out for you. You are just another low life liberal anti-Semite and I'm taking a guess here that your real name is known to us.

You aren't very bright. Try harder.

Posted by: penny at January 15, 2009 2:21 PM

hey Abraham,

I see a lot of names on the sponsers list: bunches of camps, restaurants, Aish, various shuls, churches, bookstores, Tom's place, etc. Should people not go just because the CJC is one of some 60 listed sponsers?

The CJC, Bnai Brith, etc. maybe maybe are getting a clue that it's not the 1940's and the problem isn't nazis. Anti-semitism has morphed in our generation - it used be the Jews killed Jesus, then it was the Jews are another race, now it is the Jews stole the land of the ancient Palistinians.

Come on out and stand with all the supporters of Israel who will be there - if you can tolerate being around some conservatives.

See ya, Matt!

Posted by: Kathy Shaidle at January 15, 2009 3:56 PM

The most damage people can do is to get anti-Jewish comments on video tape. It is important to expose how antisemitic many Canadian Muslims are.

To do this, dress like a leftist or pro-Palestinian (get one of those scarfs) then try to capture or interview Canadian Muslims, as a fellow supporter. Say you are with a pro-Palestinian Blog.

In unguarded moments they will say what they really think of Israel and make genocidal comments. If you are serious about doing this, get two other confederates who will shadow you and engage anyone who gets hostile or tries to take your camera. Make sure that your confederates are not tied to you but rather are "just trying to keep the peace". A fourth could actually be used to video tape any attacks on the primary videographer but also to get additional distance shots.

If I was near Toronto, I'd organize something like this myself. Even if your alone, you might get some good video of these Islamic supremacists.

Get video folks, it is what convinces complacent Canadians of the problems of Islamic supramacists in Canada.

Posted by: Don Uthole at January 15, 2009 4:22 PM

I disagree with the fellow who is worried you will get photographed as a liberal sympathizer. That’s a reach when your there protesting the violent anti-Semitic rally's last week. It just might be instructive to take the CJC & other organizations to task for the harm they have done Canada & their own community by censorship. A captive opportunity you might say.
I would be there in a NY minute. To bad I live 3000 miles away.
I stand with Israel.

This blog is sick. I am one of the students planning this rally. The organizations are paying for it but we are in charge. This is not a left or right wing rally .....this is a PRO-ISRAEL rally.....leave the politics out it.

After all the hardwork we have put into this how dare you try and disunify everyone.

Posted by: One of the Rally Planners at January 15, 2009 4:44 PM

lol. Is "disunify" a word?

Bottom line: rallying against the nutters is good. Thought-police and their supporters, not so much.

I must say, as a concerned Conservative voter, it really sickens me to see the comments Abraham Steinberg posted above...

While individuals may have different opinions regarding the day to day activities of some of these big organizations, we must realize that this is a rally organized and by students, who have arranged the support of over 70 organizations, throughout the community, Jewish and non-Jewish,

People like "Abraham" the anti-Semite need to shut their mouths and stop reading The Protocols of the Elders of Zion!!

I can hardly describe how much this Van. Islander would like to be there, but alas, too many miles between.

My pledge is to make as many people as possible aware of the existential threat that political Islam represents to humankind - not the least of whom are our M.P.s in Ottawa.

Just asking, but what would Canada's Security Council response likely have been witha 'coalition gov't'? Rhetorical of course - we all know, don't we....

Dear One of the Rally Planners, this whole blog is sick? Or inappropriate, divisive, and disingenuous "Abraham Steinberg" flaming conservatives on a conservative site is sick? Your reading comprehension skills are lacking. I suggest you pay more attention.

There is no "leave politics out of it" and never will be when it comes to Israel. SDA and its core commentors have been ardent supporters of Israel for as long as this blog has existed. I think you owe Kate an apology.

Good luck on your rally.

Posted by: penny at January 15, 2009 5:11 PM

Allah willing, thousands of supporters will show up and support the State of Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East where women will not be stoned to death and homosexuals will not be hanged for what they believe..
Support the State of Israel so that we, as Israeli Arabs, can live a free, Democratic, Multicultural lifestlye with our Jewish cousins...

I can't be at the Sunday rally for a very good reason.

Somewhere here on SDA this morning I saw something about a rally tonight at the Israeli Consulate at 8:00 p.m. at the corner of Avenue Road and Bloor Street. I'm going to make it to that. 'Anyone know if it's on tonight?

Posted by: batb at January 15, 2009 5:27 PM

The vigil tonight is on tonight at the Israeli consulate, but I really really encourage you to come to the sunday event as well, as there will be over a thousand people, and is a lot more structured and public!

The Arabs will probably be busy marching down Bathurst Street.

Posted by: ObL at January 15, 2009 5:56 PM

ObL why do you say 'Arabs' specifically?

Posted by: ldd at January 15, 2009 6:27 PM

The 3 stooges remind me of a cowardly security guard we once employed. Several times things got busy and punches started flying during "debates about current events, etc" by those assembled, he would take himself at top speed to the furthest reaches of the parking lot in search of illegally parked vehicles. Nobody was asking him to get himself killed while making minimum wage, but he was so gutless he wouldn't even call for support or call the cops and stay and monitor the situation. His excuse: He was being paid to walk around in the uniform and that was it, didn't want to be known for "squealing". Yeah, right, good-bye.

Maybe that's too harsh. Maybe those pulling their strings couldn't decide.

Posted by: Orlin from Marquette at January 15, 2009 8:30 PM

Good luck wity it. I've always found that when entering a potential fist fight that I like to wear a protective cup, have a mouthguard to avoid broken teeth (easy to slip in when do-do hits the fan) and safety glasses to protect my eyes. That's the defensive, now on the offensive side....never mind!!

I'd be there too if I wasn't on the West Coast.

Posted by: ulianov at January 15, 2009 9:00 PM

I think if you support Israel's right to defend itself, you should do what you can to attend the rally. Sure you may not agree with some of the liberals in attendance, but you do agree on one thing - supporting Israel in its time of need. Perhaps we can all be adults put aside partisan bickering and agree to support a common cause. This should be neither a conservative nor liberal event, your attendance should not in any way repeal your credentials as a conservative. If you cant get past that, your credentials must be insufficient.

Posted by: peterj at January 17, 2009 1:25 AM

I think it would be standard procedure by now that one doesn't level an entire country and it's inhabitants to get at a select few... except that we're dealing with Zionism, and the term has never been equated with reason or restraint.

Posted by: The Highwayman at January 17, 2009 1:57 AM

Huh? So it's perfectly ok to support a "pro-israel" rally but a "pro-palestine" rally means a bunch of loonatics? Hypocrisy (hypoCRAZY) much?

Posted by: Deezflowers at January 17, 2009 2:06 AM

The Highwayman: You have no idea how stupid your comment was, do you? In ANY WAR, it is ALWAYS just a select few that are the problem...and you ALWAYS have to destroy many things to root out the select few. Name me a war where there WASN'T a select few causing the problem and show me a war where bystanders DIDN'T get caught in the crossfire (think London, Berlin, Dresden, Hiroshima, etc.). THIS war is worse, in that the cowardly Hamas purposely hide behind women and children while fighting.

Deezflowers: A "Pro-Palestine" rally would be fine, if that is what it was. But it was actually an "Anti-Israel" or "Anti-Semite" rally. In a "Pro-SOMETHING" rally, you say things like "Hurray for SOMETHING", whereas in an "ANTI-SOMETHING" rally you chant "Death to SOMETHING". See the difference? No, I don't suppose you do.

Posted by: Eeyore at January 17, 2009 8:21 AM

That's exactly right, Eeyore, it is always a select few that are the problem, which makes war just that much more ridiculous, and shows just how stupid and gullible society is for running after these select few and their little agendas.

I know exactly how stupid rational thought sounds to a dupe, which is why I made the comment. Right now, it's fashionable to be pro-Israel, and referring to those "bystanders" of yours, there surely wasn't that much concern for them in other wars... like WWII. No, it's just that, today, it's fashionable and allowable, whereas yesterday it wasn't.

The totalitarian bent of your mindset guarantees that we shall always have war, coupled with your limited knowledge of history. Funny... you've already made my job easier by admitting that all wars are started by a select few, and now you're defending them by saying that this criminal act by Israel is necessary...

You are easily led... aren't you, Eeyore?

Posted by: The Highwayman at January 17, 2009 10:12 AM

Where do you live, Highwayman? If I knew, I'd drop by and lob a few rocks through your windows indiscriminately. Knowing that you don't believe in war (apparently in any form or for any reason) and seeing that I am "just a select few", I expect there would be no retaliation from you at all!

You, sir or madam, are the dupe. And an utter hypocrite.

These people equating Israel with the Nazis have to be insane, and they are mostly from the Left. The Left acting like Nazis and calling for a new Hitler, and for the Jews to go to the ovens, wow! Hitler, someone even most of them would say they hate. The Left, many are anti-semitic Nazis, they should be so proud. The truth is coming out, it is getting harder to hide.

The MSM is insidious, they are instrumental in fanning these flames. We must keep trying to de-brainwash as many people as possible. As the brave Geert Wilders put it recently, "To begin with, there is already a Palestinian state, and that is Jordan. This land covers nearly eighty percent of the historic Palestine. Most residents of Jordan are Palestinians, for instance queen Rania."

Why doesn't Jordan take the poor Palestinians in the West Bank and Egypt control the nut jobs in Gaza?

They don't want them, that's why. They should be made to take them. That may be the only answer.

Hamas is what makes Gaza much worse than it could be. If they would give up the dream of destroying Israel and the Jews and stopped all missiles and suicide bombers, and all terrorist attacks, Israel would welcome doing business with them, and things would be peaceful. But they can't do this as long as they follow their Koran strictly.

There is no negotiating with a mad man, or with Jihadis who want to die to go get their 72 virgins.
I hope Israel doesn't quit too early. If Israel is destroyed, terrorism in the rest of the world will just increase, it will never stop, as long as there are Radical Muslims, or rather, Muslim Fundamentalists; who are appeased, defended, and kissed up to.
