Posted by: Ghost of Ed at January 3, 2009 12:43 PM

Is it me, or is Annie looking like a typical gnarly British dowager?

Anyway, if she ever wants to record another album she HAS to side with Hamas. She'd probably get shot by one of her music biz "friends" for being off-message otherwise.

Yes, I'm an old guy. I still call them "albums".

Posted by: The Phantom at January 3, 2009 12:56 PM

Ya, Annie, Israel should just lie down and let the Arabs bomb them into oblivion - all in the name of peace.

Posted by: Sheila T at January 3, 2009 1:00 PM

I think Annie should shave off one of her eyebrows. That way she can aim her bazooka without any hairy interference.
She should also call her next album "One more for the juice."

4 words: Shut up and sing.

I'll take Annie Lennox seriously when she can present credentials more weighty than dressing up in a tuxedo and singing to a cow.

I. Don't. Care. What. Annie. Lennox. Says. About. Anything.

"...is to use my freedom of speech, my right as an individual in a free world..." Uhmm Annie Hamas does not believe in either of those things, which is why there is a war going on in Gaza right now. While I've got you Annie, a little advice: ease up on the face tightening operations, can you cadaver?

Right. This means of conflict resolution certainly didn't work against Nazi Germany, or Imperial Japan.

Legend? Only in the minds of the pop-whores of the MSM. I'm also happy to see she's joined by intellectual giant Bianca Jagger whose claim to fame is that she boffed a Rolling Stone.

As RM said above. Journalists expect us to take them seriously when they call THIS news!

To paraphrase Alice Cooper, rocks stars are idiots whose opinions about politics don't matter for that very reason. Does Miss Lennox live near the Gaza Strip? Has she seen the mascots teaching children to hate Jews?
Hollywood stars and other celebrities should be stripped of their wealth and privilege and be made to live in some godforsaken part of the world. What would their opinions be then?

Posted by: Osumashi Kinyobe at January 3, 2009 1:37 PM

Stole my comment almost Kinyobe, Alice finished it off with something like, idiot rock stars don't get up from their drug and alchol induced stupor till after noon and then they are to hung over for the rest of the day to make coherant thought, but these are the winners the MSM run to for quotes and their "valuable" insight into world problems. I read a while back where the intellectual giant Bob Geldof charges !00,000 to speak of hunger and world problems, that says it all. Keep lapping it up you MSM reporters. And Annie get a real job.

The willful blindness of Palestinian terrorism by the leftoid entertainment tall foreheads means their opinions contaminate them with the same pathological morbidity that drives Hamas to set up their rockets in hospitals and kindergartens, to refuse medical help from Egypt, to use mosques as weapons bunkers and to continue Pally-on-Pally murders between Hamas and Fatah at a far higher rate than anything Israel can inflict on Gaza.

I like Feist (and BSS for that matter) but I lost respect for them hearing they supported the coalition.

Maybe its my problem, not being able to separate art from politics.

Posted by: LX at January 3, 2009 2:07 PM

LX - you've got to separate art from politics, to be practical, or else you'll hardly have anything to watch, listen to or read. (Unless you're into new country, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent or Megadeth.) I just assume anyone I'm a fan of has deplorably naive politics, and tune out whenever they head in that direction. No one I knew when I lived in that world had politics informed much beyond whatever they absorbed in college, and what they read in free weeklies or from their friends.

Annie Lennox was married to Isreali film and recored producer

Lennox's first marriage from 1984 to 1985 was to Radha Raman.

From 1988 to 2000, she was married to Israeli film and record producer Uri Fruchtmann. They have two daughters, Lola and Taliir; however, their only son, Daniel, was stillborn in December, 1988.

Just another frail, outraged, appalled, and fabulously wealthy leftist from the entertainment industry ... entertaining us.

She has no clue about what is an Arab and what is a Jew. I will bet that a lot more Jews have signed her paychecks than Arabs.

Seeing such a talented, successful, wealthy and good looking babe so unhappy, so miserable, is the entertaining part of this.

If people like her ruled the world there would be no Jews at all.

As for the person in the comments section on her site...yowza, that is pretty brazen, i would like to hear Annie's opinion on that one for sure.

Just a private chuckle every time I see a reference to her, my friend for the most part is a funny, harmless almost broken down drunk these days……What would she think?

Posted by: Knight 99 at January 3, 2009 2:33 PM

"Singer Annie Lennox has spoken out...calling for an end to (Israel's) 'slaughter and systematic murder' of Arabs..."

Hmm, where have I heard that phrase before? Oh, yeah -- ABC news: "Ex-London mayor Ken Livingstone called for the European Union and the UK to withdraw their ambassadors from Israel to signal disapproval with the 'slaughter and systematic murder of innocent Arabs.'"

These people are hateful, deceitful, diligent liars, who lie with a straight face about their true motivation. To state publicly that the Jews have a "system" to "slaughter" and "murder innocent Arabs" is revolting and dishonest and prurient and hateful anti-Semitism, plain and simple. Every one of these immoral clowns *KNOWS*, and has known all along, that Hamas has been firing missiles nonstop at Israeli civilians, and that Israel, now forced to respond, takes great care to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible. Yet these (insert nastiest string of pejoratives you can think of here) label the Israeli response as being some sort of devised system to murder innocent civilians.

It's the old story, once again: anti-semites on both sides of the political spectrum come out of the woodwork to scream injustice when Israel responds, never when Israel is attacked. It doesn't matter one bit how they tart up their rationales, their motivation is as transparent as can be. They're in effect saying, "don't fight back, Juden. Lay down and die. What's being done to you is simply justice for your sins, yet you continually show that you are unwilling to accept what's coming to you."

You know, one can hold all manner of opinions about the situation in the ME, and the path to peace, but the opinions of those who condemn Israel alone, over and over, for responding as any nation would to incessant rocket attacks, are just ongoing, in-your-face evidence of what Israel, and Jews, continue to face on a daily basis.

Excuse me while I spit.

Posted by: Justthinkin at January 3, 2009 3:16 PM

Why do they do it?

Why, oh why do people in the entertainment biz feel that they need to raise their heads from the cocaine line and start addressing the issues?

It's because people in show business gravitate to importance like a hooker gravitates to a convention.

Somewhere they notice that wherever people are getting killed gets a lot of ink, because apparently people regard it as important.

It's not enough for them to be rich and famous and privileged and adored. They want to feel like they are "significant" human beings. They want what they do to have gravitas.

Most people in their right mind would know that belting out rock lyrics with an amplifier followed by leaping into a mosh pit really does not have much bearing on foreign policy or strategic nuclear deterrence.

But the showbiz crowd hasn't taken the logic that far. They don't realize that when you say something publicly you have to know something about it or you just seem stupid.

Since they see themselves as courageously flaunting convention, they always assume that their stupidity is masked behind their public posture. And that no one will notice that they are morons, and instead will see them as bravely taking a stand when others are afraid to speak.

I looked up a bunch of actors and actresses one time and found out that a huge number of them had never even finished high school. Not that formal education is always an indicator of anything, but these people's whole lives are involved in misrepresentation by glamour.

I wonder if any of them realize how absolutely tiresome it gets for the rest of us to have to put up with them.

Israel vs. Hamas; Civilization vs. terror

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fullcomment/archive/2009/01/03/robert-fulforf-israel-vs-hamas-civilization-vs-terror.aspx

"Day after day the advice rains down on Israel: Restrain yourself, pull back, look at the cost in human lives, show respect for global opinion. It comes from all the usual places — the UN, the European Union, Oxfam, Russia, The Globe and Mail.

"It may sound wise, but there’s a problem: Israel has already proven itself the most restrained nation in history. It has set an all-time record for restraint. Try to imagine any other state receiving randomly targeted rockets from a sworn enemy and refraining from violent response. ..."

Posted by: batb at January 3, 2009 4:53 PM

Why are some protests kept quiet and others not ?
This article is from the Calgary Sun, and yet I can not find a story about it anywhere else.
The story headline was "Anti-Isreal protests target PM"s office" by Bill Kaufmann

Tempers flared during a protest yesterday against the bombing of Gaza in front of Stephen Harper's Calgary office yesterday.

About 150 demonstrators blocked parking lot traffic in front of the PM's Glenmore Landing constituency office, demanding the Harper government take a stand against Israel's air assault on the Gaza Strip reported to have killed more than 400 people.

Leading the demonstrators in a chant, Muslim Council of Calgary chairman Nagah Hage denounced Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. "Olmert-Hitler, you're the same, the only difference is the name," Hage shouted.

The Muslim leader also told the crowd Harper's staunch support for Israel makes him complicit.

"How can you, Mr. Harper, turn your back on such atrocities," he said.

"You are one of the culprits."

Later, when asked if he regretted his Hitler comparison, Hage stood firm.

"Hitler wasn't as bad as Olmert," he said.

Check out the rest of the article at the Calgary Sun.

I'm with Annie on this. She's a singer, so she is clearly a genius. Why can't we all just love each other? And why can't we all sing songs (like Kumbaya) and earn millions of dollars (ok, forget Kumbaya) instead of fighting for our survival? If we were all like Annie, it would be fine. Nobody's firing rockets into her mansion.

The Israelis need to learn tolerance, learn to tolerate rockets fired at them daily. They need to end the embargo, so the Palestinians can bring in more and better weapons with which to feed their starving children. They need to help the Palestinians build more schools to teach their children how to build bombs and rockets, and to explain why they must kill all of the Jews.

The Israelis need to stop destroying the infrastructure and economy in the Gaza strip - bomb making is their way of life and is a foundation of their economy. And the Israelis need to open their borders, and their hearts, to the poor suicide bombers who merely want a better life for their families ..., and to kill innocent Israelis.

Israel - hold out your arms to Hamas in peace. You've nothing to lose except your life, your children's life, and your country's existence.

what i care is word civilized and animal behavour used above
it is only because some one have more money and power and nice dress and other side are poor and lack of nice appearance near film video
we can not simply call them they all Palestinian are not civilzed and all Isreali are good people too
that is not rational more likely is personal to take human right over word and racist comment to let to judge peopel this ways
if you care each dead body is count as animal and deserve to die i guess not!

national post and calegery sun is conservative newspaper side of story not really true story

if you say Isreal is civilized and not made horror and Palestine is ask their land back are animal and make horror is not fair statment

while number of kill in Palestinian are more than Isreali

again it does not matter what people force or may ask Harper he must think fairly how to respond this time to cricis and not act Mr. BUSH republican too be fair nobody protest against you

Just a BTW: A few days ago, on the BBC News via the CBC (my husband likes watching it, don't ask me why), a Hamas supporter in New York was being interviewed.

He stated that OVER 2000 Palestinians had been killed by the Israelis while, AT THE SAME TIME, the text below this talking head was saying that 300+ Palestinians had been killed. I think the figure now is 400+.

These Hamas supporters are something else, as are their shills in the MSM. The BBC reporter did NOT correct the highly inflated figure.

Posted by: irwin daisy at January 3, 2009 6:07 PM

I want to tip you off to an important show biz principle.

If you're a female celeb and you're confronted with an argument you can't dispute, get naked in public.

Yes, get naked in public.

Long before I understood this principle, I had noticed that girls caught up in sex scandals followed a similar principle.

Go see Hef.

Yes, go see Hef. Many young women and older ones too have solved their public disgrace in a sex scandal by going to hang out with Uncle Hef at the Mansion. You spend time in the Grotto getting avocado body rubs and let Uncle Hef connect you with the people you need to put you back on your feet as a sexy radio broadcaster (like the girl that was involved in that scandal with Jim and Tammy and the religious compound..).

However, if it's not a sex scandal, what you do is get naked on the cover of some magazine as definitive defense against counter-arguments. Batb mentioned the Dixie Chicks.

They were a real disappointment down here in Texas. But when the arguments against them got to be too irrefutable, they all got naked on the cover of a magazine.

These 2 principles:
1. Go see Hef; and
2. Get naked in public

can basically counter almost any argument launched against you due to your vacuousness and/or stupidity.

(I just noticed that Jennifer Anniston has appeared nude on a recent magazine. I think with her it's just a career move.)

Incidentally, this is a good time to go see Hef, because I understand he and the triplets have broken up.

Naturally, I wish him the best of luck, and of course the best of luck for the triplets' new boyfriend.

I remember a long time ago there was the wife of an American congressman named, I think, Rita Jarette, who fell into disgrace.

She went and hung out with Hef for a while, did a photo layout, and became a successful commodities broker.

Precisely. A 'palestinain representative to the UN' speaking on Geraldo Rivera was eliciting my sympathy by referring to the "3,000 dead and wounded" innocent civilians of Gaza.

Sounds so much more serious than 460 dead, most of whom are Hamaa members/supporters along with a relatively small number of unfortunate but politically sympathetic civilians.
