The NDP Finally Embrace Baby Jesus And His Birth

Not to nitpick here, but I would have expected "All I Want For The Holidays" from the NDP. Maybe under Jack's leadership, they've turned a spiritual corner.

Well, there goes the LGBT, atheist, and Wiccan support for the coalition...

God Bless us everyone!

Correct me if I'm wrong and since my wife's grandparents were among the founding group of the Saskatchewan NDP, I'm sure I'm correct.

As an ordained minister, would Tommy Douglas promote or discredit the celebration of Christmas? My guess is that he would be in favour of it.

I also understand many things are not the same as they once were and that fact has not quite sunk in with some who cannot understand what the party sunk to when it embraced Big Labour.

I was looking forward to a Great Christmas Season and now you insert JackTheWeasle into the mix again.
When are the Loyal Left going to realise that a weasle is not a good mascot for a political party and try to find another Rodant to take its place.
Or maybe they should keep JackTheWeasle and choose two more rodants so they can form their own coalition and JTW can be Prime Minister of the New DemoRodant party.
There I feel better now.
Best of the season to all and keep up the good Blogging

Here's Jack email address

Layton.J@parl.gc.ca

Suggest we send him an NDP e-card with a "pleasant" message.

Mine might just simply say "F#@k Off"

I see two versions... the merry christmas one, and the every so unoffensive 'happy holidays'.

Posted by: annie at December 23, 2008 5:00 PM

The spooky clown music version of Jingle Bells in the background is fitting though.

Every time I see Mini-Marx I feel slightly ill. What a revolting little Commie he is.

Looks like the Layton's other coalition partners are using HIM to get out their message because he's the only other party that can raise money for bs like that.

Oh, and I couldn't help but notice the hypocrisy of the Layton coalition's using energy wasting Christmas lights. Now we have to report him to the environmental police.

Just shows that when it comes to walking the walk Mr. Layton caves.

It seems to me that even the U.S. parties have not sunk to this low. What sort of ignoramus uses the instrument of God (Christmas) to make a point for Caesar (NDP). Even the one for whom Christmas was named separated Caesar from God. This is right up there with the German "Gott Mit Uns" on their belt buckles in WW I and II. I'm surprised that none of the other commenters even see the significance of this.

"""What sort of ignoramus uses the instrument of God (Christmas)""""

little off on yer history ain't cha olboy

christmas is a hijacked pagan holiday!!

That's why Jay Dubs don't celebrate it

Posted by: GYM at December 23, 2008 6:35 PM

All I want for Christmas is a 12 month "Layton and May free zone" on Canadian news broadcasts.

What do you think of my chances?

Posted by: felis corpulentis at December 23, 2008 6:45 PM

My email to them.

Wow! AS a Christian I resent the fact that you have the balls to try and use the Christmas season, you know, birth of Christ, to try and shore up political support for the idea of a stolen Government. WHy not leave the Christian holiday out of your campaign and focus more on individuals or groups that believe it is ok to steal what you have not earned.

Posted by: Madman at December 23, 2008 6:57 PM

gym - I'm not off in my history. I know that saturnalia, solstice, Mithra's birth, etc. were combined with the Christian celebration of Christ's birth in the 3rd or 4th century. That has no relevance to the use of the religious mass as designated by all Christian churches as Christ's Mass, for base political gain. Have you ever heard of the term "quibble". That is what your arguement is. You are trying to evade commenting on the real issue.

Of course if the NDP is only wishing on the return of the sun to bless their desire for a coalition government, I suspect they will have as much success in that as their previous attempts.

Posted by: Ol' Country Boy at December 23, 2008 6:57 PM

I wish every Canadian could see his card so they can understand what a sad demented soul he is.
Anyone who uses fear mongering for Political gain in times of financial choas is sick. Then to use the occasion of the birth of Christ to trumpet dishonesty is demented!

So if the Bloc isnt part of the coalition why are there three lights...one orange (NDP), one red (Liberal) and one pale blue (Bloc?)

The ad also says the opposition parties...all of them were part of it....

Not that it matters. Th ecoalition is deader than a door nail since the Liberals wont touch the third rail of the Bloc again.

Posted by: Stephen at December 23, 2008 7:14 PM

I will do what Mr. Layton should have done with this "card". I wish all of my northern cousins in the great nation of Canada, all my cousins of all political and religious pursuasions, a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. May the blessings of freedom be with you always. From an old Okie in the oil patch.

Posted by: Ol' Country Boy at December 23, 2008 7:26 PM

"Their plan will kickstart the Canadian economy", but when Taliban Jack is asked for specifics of HOW his economic stimulus package will do this, there is never any answer, other than it will do it BETTER and FASTER than any budget by Mr. Harper's government. The Coalition of these Clowns cannot see their way clear to give up the, Creatin imposed, taxpayer subsidy of $1.95/vote. How could they possibly know what to do with larger sums? Saving all the overpaid unproductive big union jobs in the central Canadian economy will not save the country. With oil at under $40.00/barrel the oil companies cannot save it either, especially when Jack shuts down the oilsands to save the planet. Back to the corner Little Jack and eat some Christmas pie.

My e-mail to Layton:

Sir,

Your wish for the economy is decidedly two-faced. You and your coalition caused a drop of 1000 points in the TSX, severely damaging the savings of many, many Canadians and causing a five-cent drop in the Canadian dollar over a one-hour period. If that is your idea of fixing the economy, please stay well away from the House of Commons. Your coalition idea is a disgrace to Canadian democracy and if you are unable to accept the will of the electorate, then I suggest that you retire from politics before those self-same Canadians choose to kick you out.

Y'know, I wonder how it was that the party of the workers, that stalwart group of hard working unionists, ended up being taken over by such obvious trash. It's either that or what we have now is what happens to good working class people when they get much of that "Good Old Dipper Socialism" on themselves.

Really a puzzler.

Posted by: Pat at December 23, 2008 9:22 PM

I though it important that others see that Smilin' Jack had 'hijacked' Christmas - a religious holiday in which he likely does not believe - for his own partisan and self-serving purpose.

It's easy to do a Prt Scrn of the page (I then 'cropped' just the section with the lights and "All I want for Christmas is a Coalition Gov't" part) and sent it to all my friends, giving them the link and an explanation of why I found it offensive.

You may wish to do the same.

anyone notice that those bulbs aren't the LED type!! encouraging energy consumtion!!! Poor David Susuki!! must have hit the roof when he opened his NDP e-card!!!

I sent Jack an email, told him that his plans have made a tory majority more likely and that his Dad would be proud of him.

Poor Little Jack-off. Ever since the wheels fell off of the "Government in waiting" Jack looks depressed as the 16 yr old geek in the class who has a date with the easiest girl in the school, then finds out he has a piano recital that same night! Oh the irony!!

And a Happy Holy Day to you to.

Yo! Edward "Blackbeard" Teach. Your post of the 24th reminded me of a chap I trained with in the Air Force in 1942. If someone mentioned a person who displeased him he would say, "I've flushed better material."
