Y2Kyoto: I Too, Am Embarrassed That She's A Canadian

Lizzy,
"It was embarrassing being a Canadian at these meetings..."
Pozzy,
Time for Mass Mobilization to Stop Global Warming Emissions
and the planet Gore....
I went to Chicago for a meeting with president-elect Barack Obama and he emphasized that the climate crisis will be a top priority of his administration,”
planetgore.jpg

Will someone please stop these people before we all freeze to death?

Temperatures were 20 below zero and lower across the northern Plains, and a band of snow, freezing rain and sleet stretched from Kansas along the Ohio Valley to Maine.

Dozens of schools closed in Kentucky and Tennessee because of slippery roads and salt truck crews started working before dawn. Up to a half-foot of snow had fallen in parts of Kentucky.

[...]

Some of the sharpest cold Tuesday was in northern Minnesota, where Hibbing bottomed out at 32 below zero and International Falls dropped to 28 below. In the middle of the state, St. Cloud fell to 24 below, breaking its old record of 21 below set in 1963.

In Vancouver, global warming's latest cooling trend threatens lives...
The arctic front that has the whole of British Columbia in its grip has caused road chaos, left thousands without power and is especially tough on the homeless. [...] In Vancouver it has been a frantic rush to get vulnerable homeless people off the streets.

Northeast Siberia braces for extreme cold of -60C.
“However, this is not the limit - in the next few days weather in the town of Krestyakh could drop below minus 58 degrees Celsius (minus 72.4 degrees Fahrenheit),” the meteorological service spokesman said.

While here, in Saskatchewan, we continue our patient vigil, waiting and watching for the long promised tropical warmth and ocean beach fronts...

I'm wondering why some climate scientist hasn't come out and said that this is exactly the type of cold and snowy weather (or worse), that we need to restock our glaciers?
We really do need an authority figure to put people's mind at rest by telling them that this is NORMAL weather.

Are they afraid of being stoned by the Al Gore fanatics?

BTW, snow and cold is playing bigtime on KTLA Los Angeles this AM.

Posted by: rockyt at December 17, 2008 9:52 AM

This is usually the time of year we start getting inundated with the "Antarctic is melting" stories.

Do you get the feeling these "talking heads" were the people who wanted to be part of the "in" crowd when they were in high school?

I can't see these people as being the leader of pack...just the sycophant followers.

Why should Canada blessed with 9% of world's fresh water supply, oil, natural gas, mineral wealth, arable land, forests and rich seas care what anybody says about us. If anything we should make them dance to our tune is they want our resources. We just don't get it.

Belasarius, you are right, over on Bourque is the big headline, Arctic Ice Melt. Hard to believe these clowns and their willing accomplices in the MSM can't see the outdoors. They are just Stupid, plain and Simple. I fear for the future when 1500 dollar a month reporters and idiotic professors are moulding small minds.

Lizard May has actually uttered a statement that can be concurred with as we are all embarassed that she is a Canadian.

Posted by: uuess at December 17, 2008 10:25 AM

I have to agree with Dizzy Lizzy "I Too, Am Embarrassed That She's A Canadian".
I guess if the Coalition had its way she could be an embarrassed Canadian Senator by now.

Posted by: capt_bob at December 17, 2008 10:26 AM

This just proves that Lizzy is right. Canadians ARE stupid.

The reply to Gore should be the cooling is the result of the "Supreme Entity" agreeing with him. So he was right, it's being taken care of so unless he feels he knows more he should be quiet.

Don't we get climate change 4 times a year in Canada? I mean, except for Vancouver which only has a rainy season and Winnipeg which only has 2 days of summer, 1 day of mosquitoes and 362 days of winter.

If Lizzy is so embarassed with being a Canadian, why dont we mail her to one of those countries that she can be proud of? Preferably one that doesnt believe in the phrase "Return to Sender".
She can be a failure as a politician there and no one in Canada will have to put up with her yammering again.
It would be win-win for everyone!

All the Believers & their hanger-on Warmonnger Crowd are a decade late and a few degrees short.

Nobody gives a crap about their bleating anymore. There are much bigger things to worry about, like having a job. They'll scream louder and longer as they get pushed further and further away from the microphone, so we should expect a real temper tantrum as they are denied their self-appointed right to inflict economic suicide on the rest of us.

Its over, its getting colder and they missed their window of opportunity. Their faux crisis has been replaced by the economic crisis.

Its all over but the screaming.

More PHD from the Beeb: Who is that masked freezing man, Tonto?

"Computer models suggest that natural cycles may cool the Earth's surface in the next few years, masking the warming impact of rising greenhouse gas levels."
...-

"This year is coolest since 2000

The world in 2008 has been cooler than at any time since the turn of the century, scientists say.

Cooling La Nina conditions in the Pacific brought temperatures down to levels last seen in the year 2000.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) notes that temperatures remained about 0.3C above the 1961-1990 average.

Computer models suggest that natural cycles may cool the Earth's surface in the next few years, masking the warming impact of rising greenhouse gas levels.

One recent analysis suggested there may be no warming for about the next decade, though other scientists dispute the conclusion.

What is beyond dispute is that 2008 saw temperatures a shade below preceding years."

We have a Green party member in our family. She worked the phones, canvassed etc for the Green party during the last election.

When I asked her what she thought about her fearless leader propping up libranos, Layton's stache and separatists, it was the first time she had nothing to say in years. Of course I kept prodding her, and man, did she lose it!

Lizzie better hope for that senate appointment, as I think she is history as far as the Green party is concerned.

And, not only am I embarassed that she is Canadian, I also have to wonder just who in the hell elected that idiot to be representing Canada on the world stage.

She should just go back to the maritimes and try to save some butterflies from the coming ice age.

IDIOT!

GO ARMY!
VOTE REFORM!

Posted by: kingstonlad at December 17, 2008 11:54 AM

My thoughts were similar to yours, Kate, when I heard about Lizzy's embarrassment. I would be embarrassed that someone like her is (mis) representing Canada.
That would be especially so if she is getting any play in foreign media; if only the CBC is rushing to quote her, not so much.

Warwick - the TAXPAYER is paying for Lizzie May's exccellent adventures.

Remember the $1.75 per vote? It is pretty well the only money thae Green Party has - more than $2 million I think.

$2 million for an advocacy special interest group of old hippies masquerading as a political party to scam the taxpayer.

Pretty good gig huh.

Similar (near total freakout, c/w shrieking noises, unintelligible babbling) to a close family member of mine when I asked some pointed questions. For leftists, thinking critically and objectively is usually an option - sort of like preferring basket weaving over science at college (but still getting a degree).

Likely forbidden if a true convert.

Probably inspired by Fake Steve Jobs. The Fake Al Gore site has a disturbing acronym, though, so some human rights commission somewhere might want to check it out and file some nuisance lawsuits.

Posted by: PiperPaul at December 18, 2008 12:27 AM

Today is labeled inter-glacial. Seven or eight thousand years ago, all of Canada was under a big heap of snow and ice. Near as I can figure, that means everything was ground to rock flour.

So what if Gore is wrong? What if in seven or eight thousand years the snow pile returns? Will there be a ceremony for the Last Tree, before that one for the Last Forest, before that books about how It Was Once Warm?

Who will be getting the Nobel Prize then? And for what? I'd vote for the leading AGW-ist hunter.
