For Immediate release December 12, 2008 - Toronto After the website of of Member of Parliament Olivia Chow was "hacked" by hundreds of individual votes "suspiciously cast contrary to Olivia’s position", technical experts on staff with the Saskatchewan New Democrats were flown in to erect an emergency security fence to protect the Trinity-Spadina MP from future embarrassments at the keyboards of "right-wing groups". "We are confident that the new innovations at OliviaChow.ca will prevent future online polls from going horribly wrong", a Chow spokesperson said, in an email to reporters on Friday. | |
ROTHFLMAO!
But seriously, great scoop! MSM ought to all over this in a New York minute. (ought being the operative word of course!)
Just like the old communist saying says: Everything is free...
but nothing is available
nobody does stupid like a dipper
LOL
That's too funny!
I love what it says when you put the mouse over her face too!
Posted by: Marcia at December 12, 2008 3:38 PMChow Chow; “If you have to rig polls in favour of your opinion” said the administrator, “it says more about your core ethics and the weakness of your position, than it does the issue.”
Got that right ! CTV, CBC, G&M, The Star have been doing it for decades. Freeping hypocrites.
Posted by: ron in kelowna at December 12, 2008 3:40 PMWord is G&M and Red Star are amending their polls accordingly and regret that they didn't think of dropping off "no" themselves.
Posted by: Free Thinker at December 12, 2008 3:40 PMThe question on the Chow website is asking readers if they agree that Chow is planning to oppose Harper's economic statement. This would appear to be,in fact, Chow's intention so the logical answer can only be "yes".
Posted by: Grafton at December 12, 2008 3:41 PMI was going to ask if it's possible for anyone to be that stupid and then I remembered who she's married to. 'Nuff said.
Posted by: Sean at December 12, 2008 3:48 PMflown in "FLOWN IN"
they had to have expertise "Flown in"
guess Sask is just to wheatfield to handle a web site
or at least the NDP is running at that level
Your wording is brilliant, Kate, absolutely brilliant! And the thing is, that is precisely how they would have actually spun it!!!
Posted by: Robert W. at December 12, 2008 3:50 PMHere's a current quote from Ms Chow at her website, http://oliviachow.ca/mp/
"An NDP-Liberal majority coalition is ready to deliver the economic stimulus Canada needs. .........."
She seems to believe that the NDP and LIBERALS have a majority.
Were's the BLOC?
Posted by: GO Canucks at December 12, 2008 4:03 PMI can't believe that announcement made it to Chow's public site. Incredible.
Posted by: mark peters at December 12, 2008 4:14 PMDoes this mean they've put a firewall around Jack's wifie?

I have more than often suspected them of doing exactly this and I wouldn't put it past them.
But then.. they ALWAYS know what's best for the unwashed masses.
Comrades, today vee announce purrrfect people's poll. Please to vote "Da" . . . excuse please, ees "Yes" to demonstrate socialist solidarity in struggle against burgeois reactionaries, counter-revolutionary saboteurs and wreckers.
Now ees not possible for poll to fail. Vee shall excede previous quota of "Yes" by 200%.
Long live Comrade Chow!
"I can't believe that announcement made it to Chow's public site. Incredible."
I believe it's a parody, Mark.
Posted by: MJ at December 12, 2008 4:35 PMI believe you are all spelling her name wrong, in future direct all revolutionary comments to Ms Olivia Chao.
Voters with incorrect thoughts will be referred to Danforth re-education camp run by Kommandant Liarton.
Posted by: Cascadian at December 12, 2008 4:49 PMMaybe she should have tried to hide the stupidity by having a second choice option:
"All of the above"
She deserves all that. After all, we do things differently here than in China. If she doesn't like it, and prefers a communist paradise, I am sure she knows her way to Pearson airport and how to catch the next flight home.
Posted by: Werner Patels at December 12, 2008 4:55 PMOur neighbor looks a lot like Olivia. Twin, even. But that is where it ends.
A very, very intelligent, kind person. I can listen to her for hours. From Beijing to Ottawa to medical mushrooms (really) to Confucius to just having fun. A real joy. Husband also.
Posted by: ron in kelowna at December 12, 2008 5:05 PM"technical experts on staff with the Saskatchewan New Democrats"
Hmmmm. More like spin experts, I'm thinkin'.
Posted by: Louise at December 12, 2008 5:12 PMI did a quick scan of Linda Duncan's website and note that the only two outsiders visiting here to assist her campaign were Olivia Chow and Jack Layton.
Birds of a feather?
BTW, she seems to have avoided putting up any polls so far. According to an article in Metro News, she has experienced a severe backlash from the dipper antics of the past month. My guess is that she will lose her seat in the next election.
I just love Clavert's stammering. Its really hard for these socialists to accept that the people don't agree with them.
And Kate has the audacity to think her blog speak for Saskatchewan. He sure wanted to give you a tongue lashing but couldn't spit it out.
Posted by: James at December 12, 2008 5:29 PMFor one small moment I thought it was a real posting until I looked at the poll. Great job!
Posted by: Maureen at December 12, 2008 5:34 PMitlog98.....I GUARANTEE she will lose next election.I am also in her riding(not that I voted for her),but have been trying for almost 5 weeks to get a talk with her. Her vocie mail says leave msg, etc, yadayada.Still haven't heard a peep out Comrade Duncan yet. But don't forhet,UofA is also in the riding,so when the election is held in late Jan/early Feb,all her core support will be to busy with finals.

Dipper notions are so grippingly brilliant that thousands upon thousands took that long train journey to the Gulag, where they camped out in uber low carbon footprint conditions, on an extreme save-the-planet green diet, each one dedicating their very life to noble, yet perpetually unattainable goals of "social justice" and "equality".
If you cannot embrace the awesome beauty of the Dipper ideals, you must be mentally ill, and need hospital care.
How irksome it must be to be unable to add 'or else' to an online poll.
Posted by: Shaken at December 12, 2008 6:13 PMIn the old Soviet Union they had 99% election victories for of course single candidates. Trust a Socialist to live in an synthetic bubble. Even a lie extolling them is better than to be wrong, or gasp, unpopular. Hence Gulags.
This is gonna hurt her in the long run. Is her ego that big, she‘s willing to look the jackass to save face, & lose an election?

The supreme commissar’s frau
Her poll it was ‘hacked’
The numbers were ‘jacked’
Heads will roll anytime now
……. was "hacked"…….
The socialists don’t seem to know the meaning of hacked.
Is she a socialist or something?
…….by hundreds of individual votes.......
What kind of statement is this? Is there a possibility of hundreds of collective votes, other than in their collective socialist ether?
……."suspiciously cast contrary to Olivia’s position"…….
What is with these people, they ask for a vote and if someone votes something other than the socialist agenda that is suspicious? One would be suspicious of their suspicion.
Is she a socialist or something?
……protect the Trinity-Spadina MP from future embarrassments at the keyboards of "right-wing groups".
How is it that the MP would be embarrassed by a reply to a question that she posed?
How is it that her embarrassment comes from her preconceived notion that everybody thinks like her? To say that the to her offending vote was from “right wing groups” is nonsense, it could easily be said that it came from left wing groups that did not agree with her.
…….will prevent future online polls from going horribly wrong"…….
Is the MP’s manifesto so full of hot air that other than results for her agenda are horribly wrong?
Is she a socialist or something?
To say that the socialists deserve anything other then being thrown in the ash heap of history is to give them too much credit.
That is one of the funniest things I've seen on this site in a while. Glad I didn't have a mouthfull of beer when I accessed SDA tonight. Just what I needed to lift my spirits after shovelling 60 yards of driveway for the second time today and it's still snowing.
I suspect that comrade Chow will not be amused by this little jape.
Confucius say: Ask dumb question - expect getting dumb answer!
Posted by: Whorehouse piano player at December 12, 2008 10:45 PMHey PiperPaul, I created that graphic. I guess my tech brain didn't seen the inherent pun in "Submit"'s double meaning!
Now I'll be on the lookout for that with all my other software development!!!
Posted by: Robert W. at December 12, 2008 10:51 PMOn the march to the Brave New World, we will someday have three choices from the One Party.
Hang on, now. The Coalition Party. Three choices in Quebec, one in the Rest of Canada.
It works so well in the Soviet Union and even better now in Russia.
Putin has used up all his terms, so he just put a sock puppet up in a one-choice election and Bob's yer uncle.
Posted by: set you free at December 12, 2008 11:00 PMSDA's photo file should have been "chowderhead.jpg", not "chowheader.jpg" ...
Posted by: nv53 at December 12, 2008 11:08 PMRobert, I've made a few form buttons myself and generally use "Send" as the button text. The default "Submit" wording is part of Bill Gates' worldwide plot to subconsciously indoctrinate new and existing computer users to the forthcoming forced government implantation of brain chips.
In your case though, it was entirely appropriate. Well done, even if unintended.
Did you know that tinfoil hats only work for so long? I'm up to 13 layers so far and I still get that buzzing noise.

Try changing the brand of foil. A recent rabble.ca post said that they only needed 6 layers of Alcan foil to stop the buzzing ... in addition they got 8 HD channels directly into their heads.
Hope this helps!!!!

Posted by: itlog98 at December 13, 2008 12:00 AMjustthinkin,
I don't think it was student votes that got her elected. I noticed that most of the Linda Duncan signs were in front of half million dollar homes owned by profs in the Garneau and Windsor Park areas.
Edmonton Strathcona has quite a few voters east of the CPR tracks who are not NDP. The problem in the election just past is that Rahim got lazy and didn't really campaign so a lot of his support stayed home. I'm hoping that next election there will be a fresh new Tory candidate who will be hungry and get out and knock on doors. I plan to be manning phones and campaigning for the Tory candidate in the next election and I hope a lot of other people will be doing the same.
I sent Linda Duncan an e-mail stating my views on the coalition and never heard a peep from her. I gather that's what happened to a lot of others, and they are hopping mad.
You know, Paul, for some time now, every time I hear about 98% of the Canadian media talking, I keep thinking they're actually a PR agent of the Liberal Party of Toronto.
Clearly I must be imagining things, right?!
So perhaps your tinfoil hat idea will stop my brain from thinking such nonsense. And as a former mining engineer, I still have direct connections to a certain nickel mining giant in Manitoba and Ontario. Maybe they could coat my hat to make it even less possible for those crazy radio waves to get through!!!
Posted by: Robert W. at December 13, 2008 1:09 AMReminds me of a joke:
These two sperm were making their way down a long , dark tunnel. One says to the other, "I'm getting tired, when are we gonna reach that egg?" Very surprised, the other responds "What do you mean..EGG?... We haven't even left the esophagus!"
(yeah,,, I know, I know)

I did do some design work for a big air separation plant up near Flin Flon, but that couldn't be the one. Everything I work on/design explodes shortly after I leave.
I always blame the maintenance guy and walk away whistling a happy tune trying to drown out the explosions in the background.

"They" just have the HOPE that, sooner or later, you WILL CHANGE and just lay back and enjoy the buzz.
Ahhh yes the Maoist public choice ethic...one flavor, one candidate, one idea, ...love it or be denounced :-)
Posted by: WL Mackenzie Redux at December 13, 2008 8:30 AM
That's priceless and if they could they would have the one choice. I am all for bombarding Chow's site and answering yes. Then we will see if Iggy brings the government down on the strengh of Olivia's poll. Can hardly wait for Jan. 27th. Don't think Canadians' memory is quite that short. A##H*&s
This brings back memories.
Back in the days when we had our NDP government in Ontario, the local MPP (Dan Waters, Muskoka) sent out a little notice, and included in it was a feedback form. You could pick any of three items, and say the NDP government was doing a good job on... just put a tick mark in the boxes of the issues on the list. I suppose that if you left it blank, it could be interpreted as "not doing a good job," but it had the same sort of ridiculous look as this little "yes" poll you have pictured.
