While there is temptation here to indulge in cheap ridicule of what is surely to be one of the final, sad, chapters of a once gifted life, it's at times like this that I choose instead to reflect upon a genius we all came to know and love - however long ago it now seems.
Posted by Kate at November 22, 2008 12:12 AMDave Thomas was a genius.
Posted by: Guy Caballero at November 21, 2008 11:48 PMI liked Weird Al's Fat better...
Posted by: Edward Teach at November 21, 2008 11:52 PMYa had me going for a minute there Kate. Here I thought that you had a sick story about Steve Martin going bonkers! Turns out you got a story about a guy going bonkers who has been bonkers for a long time already. So, it begs the question, - What's the big deal here?
Posted by: a different bob at November 21, 2008 11:53 PMI have to add - Steve Martin is a huge talent.
Posted by: a different bob at November 21, 2008 11:56 PMSo, the pedophilia thing, that's OK with the Nation of Islam?
Posted by: dp at November 22, 2008 12:07 AMIts founder was one.
Maybe Irwin will pop in and explain "thighing" to you.
Posted by: Mississauga Matt at November 22, 2008 12:17 AMYes, it was genius, and yes, oh, how we loved to dance to his music, Thriller dominated Halloween parties, Billy Jean was a perfect song.
Posted by: abcd at November 22, 2008 12:31 AMI still enjoy listening to Jackson's music, especially the Thriller album, as it hearkens back to my days in the early 80s, coming of age as a young teen.
No cheap shots of Jackson by me. I pity the man who is obviously full of torment and pain.
Posted by: Colin from Mission B.C. at November 22, 2008 12:36 AMNever really understood what everyone saw in him and I never really cared for any of his crap. But, then, I never liked the beatles either.
Posted by: johnboy at November 22, 2008 12:38 AMHow could a little boy so full of promise end up so distorted and confused.......ah duh! What a mess!
Never having owned any Michael Jackson albums, I'm spared the necessity of pitching them all in the burning barrel.
Posted by: gordinkneehill at November 22, 2008 1:13 AMThanks alot Kate! I have to go to work at 5:30 in the morning and you get me hooked on Steve Martin. Easily top five all time.
BTW, do you think this may have helped Steffie?

Posted by: Boots at November 22, 2008 1:18 AMThe cynic in me says that by converting to Islam, the Saudi prince that he owes cash to will forget his transgressions and may be likely to flip him a few mil for his troubles.
But then again, the humanitarian in me says that maybe a new religion will help ground him. He's been immersed neck deep in crap since he was a child.
Posted by: Yukon Gold at November 22, 2008 1:22 AMConversion to Islam eh, it's what all the western progressively enlightened woman are doing these days, it's all the rage, er fashion.
Now all he has to do is move to Afghanistan and become a cop...

Whenever I think of Jackson I think of Robin Williams line about him in his Live on Broadway DVD. He sticks out his hand and says, there's a sign at Neverland that you have to be this high to ride Mikey.
Posted by: bob c at November 22, 2008 1:26 AMSo, the pedophilia thing, that's OK with the Nation of Islam?
Why wouldn't it be? One of Mohamed's wives was nine when he had her.
Posted by: Edward Teach at November 22, 2008 1:34 AMMikey will burn in the hell of HIS choice, his victims will just burn, they didn't have the luxury of choice.Money can't buy you love.
Posted by: wallyj at November 22, 2008 1:37 AMGern Blanston is a friggin' genius. I have all his albums digitally (won't share), and sadly there's not a lot on YouTube featuring him.
If you don't know who I'm talking about, well, you're just not a Gern fan.
Posted by: PiperPaul at November 22, 2008 2:51 AMDoesn't surprise me. Lots of mentally-disordered folks convert to Islam. Mike Tyson, for one. Didn't help him much, did it? What, is the consumption of human ears halal? The Muslim womens' clothing on Jacko doesn't surprise me, either, as he clearly believes he's a woman... saw a report awhile back where Jacko was caught in a ladies' room...
I think Steve Martin crapped his pants at the end of the video. Or perhaps it was part of the act? Did Jacko have a problem with incontinence or something?
Anyway, fame and fortune do seem to have a tendency to drive folks mad... certainly if they've spent too much time with the Hollyweird community, which, to me, seems to be a cult, actually, with members prone to a myriad of insane behaviors like drug addiction, lashing out at photographers, pallin' around with Leftist dictators and spewing brain-scrambled hatred and contempt against conservatives, particularly female ones who have babies, wear glasses, hunt, go to church, and run for office... but I guess I digress, though I do think it's relevant and related to Jacko's latest brainfart that those Hollyweirdoes also do tend to shut up and say nothing not-nice when it comes to Islam... interesting, isn't it?
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at November 22, 2008 5:46 AMInteresting how many Hollywood folk have covertly converted to Islam. Just makes me believe all the more the fascist ideals shared between neo-liberalism and Islam.
Posted by: mark peters at November 22, 2008 7:38 AMInteresting how many Hollywood folk have covertly converted to Islam.
I think the only thing worse would be Scientology.
Posted by: Edward Teach at November 22, 2008 9:22 AMWhat happens when Mikaeel or whatever tires of this schtick and embraces the next new thing? Does he know what the muzzies do to apostates?
Posted by: JMD at November 22, 2008 9:24 AMmark peters: "Interesting how many Hollywood folk have covertly converted to Islam."
Could you furnish us with a list of some of them?
Posted by: batb at November 22, 2008 9:53 AMHis next album will be a bomb.
Posted by: alex at November 22, 2008 10:00 AM"What happens when Mikaeel or whatever tires of this schtick and embraces the next new thing? Does he know what the muzzies do to apostates?"
My question, exactly!
The burkha's a wise fashion choice for someone whose nose fell off.
Posted by: abcd at November 22, 2008 10:11 AMHe was such a cute little fellow when he sang Ben, shows what Hollywood and all that perversion can do to the mindless.
Posted by: bartinsky at November 22, 2008 10:18 AMremember Islam is a religion of inclusion but not necessarily fairness in numbers 72 raisins or 28 boys. I think Mikeel is for the latter.

Posted by: Hannibal Lectern at November 22, 2008 11:41 AMbartinsky, MJ did BEN? I thought is was by Donny Osmond. Mind you, just going on memory here and never owned either of their albums.
Posted by: ldd at November 22, 2008 11:45 AMmanny you need some serious therapy to help you with your misdirected old hatred.
Good luck with that chum.

"His next album will be a bomb." Posted by: Alex
Good one!
Soccermom exactly what I was thinking last night, what about those kids of his, more messed up ones, like above, to come.
Why not? It works for Catholics.
Posted by: manny at November 22, 2008 11:23 AM
Actually, it doesn't work all that well. They've had to answer for their crimes. Muslims, on the other hand, want the law to be changed for them.
See the difference?
Posted by: dp at November 22, 2008 1:31 PM"So, the pedophilia thing, that's OK with the Nation of Islam?"
"Why not? It works for Catholics." - manny
Of course, the ignorant little troll doesn't mention that it worked for Mohammad, who all Muslims are commanded to emulate.
Posted by: irwin daisy at November 22, 2008 1:36 PMNever being a fan, never will be a fan. On the first pedophile charge I think they should have took his nuts out with a sardine lid.
Posted by: Merle Underwood at November 22, 2008 1:36 PMI think I'll need to watch The Jerk tonight... again.
Posted by: Polly at November 22, 2008 1:38 PMJackson must have been subpoenaed again.
Posted by: Free Thinker at November 22, 2008 1:47 PMPretending to be generous to someone who has fallen into a sorry state when in fact you're just being snide is the mark of a truly noble spirit.
Posted by: Keyser Söze at November 22, 2008 2:11 PMNoble... Michael Jackson fallen in a sorry state, like pedophilia, huh?
...oh yeah.
missed my moral equivalency immersion classes again.
Not even clicking on that one.

You took your nic from one of the most pointless and badly acted movies of all time. Is that a reflection of your personality?

I bet his willy "fell off", too... or so he'd claim: "Look, it just fell off all by itself, ok? Now leave me alone!" That'd explain why he dresses like a Muslim woman.
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at November 22, 2008 6:50 PMI always liked Jackson in the '80s. I liked Cat Stevens back in the day too.
Maybe they can get married. That'd be very Hollywood, eh?
Posted by: The Phantom at November 22, 2008 9:04 PMmanny
they are BOTH abrahamic religions, so what's your point?????
Hmmmm ... maybe Madonna will be the next to try Islam? She's always moving from one trendy thing to another.
Now that would be interesting.
Posted by: Michele at November 22, 2008 10:19 PMWell if it gives him joy and happiness I am glad, that kid just wasn’t right and the media hype, money, fame didn’t help. I think he will struggle to become a devout Muslim. I assume he is going to be a Sunni?
