Oh, The Irony

Krista Erickson speaking about ethics.

Too funny. Too CBC.

Posted by: mark peters at November 13, 2008 2:47 PM

"the council has received about 40 complaints concerning the airing of the re-starts. In its early stage,"

Dion must have been too tuckered out to write nay more emails

Posted by: Fred at November 13, 2008 2:52 PM

It's definitely time to put this well worn phrase into the service of the CBC as well:

Fire. Them. All.

Posted by: felis corpulentis at November 13, 2008 2:52 PM

She returns to report on the standards of their competitor?

How rich is that!

How CBC is that? No embarassment!

Krista, you lost any credibility as a reporter, and deserve all the smirks coming your way.

Posted by: BB at November 13, 2008 3:15 PM

Just proves that it pays to be pretty if you work for CBC! We are paying this ethic challanged bubble head to monitor the ethics of others? It is we who are the fools if we allow this to stand! We, the people, as her employer, must DEMAND her resignation - Stephen Taylor start a petition...if you design it we will come sign it.

Posted by: Jema 54 at November 13, 2008 4:00 PM

What's next, Clifford Olson commenting for the CBC on safe parenting?

Posted by: Sean at November 13, 2008 4:08 PM

On that note, what punishment or action was taken by John Cruickskank in the wake of the Mallick hategate?

Anything?

Posted by: bob at November 13, 2008 4:30 PM

I meant Crickshank, slip was unintentional...

Posted by: bob at November 13, 2008 4:36 PM

I'm curious who these "members of the public" are and how much are they getting paid. I looks like another excuse for a lib get-together for an expense run on the public purse.
I may have to volunteer as the unbiased neocon HarperBush rep just to keep things...balanced.

Posted by: Jim in Calgary at November 13, 2008 4:48 PM

Oops. Me dubm.

Posted by: Jim in Calgary at November 13, 2008 4:50 PM

Wow rehab must have really worked or in true CBC logic put an experienced {unethical] reporter on the beat, takes one to know one! Perfect liberal logic....is that an oxymoron?

Posted by: janet at November 13, 2008 5:12 PM

this is CBCpravda at its best and completely normal.

why only a few weeks ago with the pipelines being blown up in Dawson creek - CBCpravda goes and interviews Wiebo Ludwig.

Posted by: cal2 at November 13, 2008 5:22 PM

Hey, let's not be too harsh. I've heard she's shared a Conservative cabinet minister's bed as well, so she's clearly not biased horizontally.

Posted by: Yukon Gold at November 13, 2008 5:26 PM

Evidently when you live the twisted logic life for so long one becomes so convoluted that, logic like the truth in justice, just doesn't exist for these elites.

Stuck on Stupid is their only claim to fame in my books.

Posted by: ldd at November 13, 2008 5:28 PM

"I've heard she's shared a Conservative cabinet minister's bed as well"

Yukon, it wouldn't have been the debonair Max Bernier, would it?

But I read somewhere about her sharing a wild time at a party with Scooter Brison. Could it be she wanted to convert him?

Posted by: felis corpulentis at November 13, 2008 5:33 PM

Because putting the fox in charge of the henhouse has always worked out so well in the past, eh?

Posted by: gordinkneehill at November 13, 2008 5:53 PM

"Flaherty ruled out selling the CBC, which accounts for $1 billion of the federal budget every year."

Posted by: Sounder at November 13, 2008 5:57 PM

Just like everything government. When my friends 15 yr old daughter became pregnant and refused to tell her mother then she got "counselling".Well you know the family relationship only got worse and the poor little darlin why she got to be on the public employ as......guess what????? A social counselor working for social services. Who would have thunk it. How many of you can say....."this country is truly screwed"? Now she has three(3) children all with different fathers. Go figure.

Posted by: eliza at November 13, 2008 6:01 PM

Yukon

"""""I've heard she's shared a Conservative cabinet minister's bed as well, so she's clearly not biased horizontally."""""

could it simply be that she wouldn't kno the difference, being a liberal and all!!!

Posted by: GYM at November 13, 2008 6:08 PM

The problem CBC has regarding the airing of the Re-Do tapes is that it was news, news that the electorate had a right to see. CBC doesn't do news, the talking heads at CBC only report propaganda. To them it is an outrage that a private tv station would air "news" as it might wake up the sheeple that have been fed on the CBC for the last several decades.

Posted by: Antenor at November 13, 2008 6:22 PM

No irony there. Just CBC level journalism.

Gutter.

Posted by: AtlanticJim at November 13, 2008 6:24 PM

Yukon: "I've heard she's shared a Conservative cabinet minister's bed as well," -- Which one? I can't think of a single one I would go to bed with . . . nothing against their politics, mind you.

Posted by: LindaL at November 13, 2008 6:51 PM

Sounder - minds can be changed...CBC is no friend of the Minister of Finance.

Posted by: Jema 54 at November 13, 2008 6:51 PM

LindaL - what a slutty comment. I can't think of a Conservative Cabinet Minister who would share a bed with you either. But I do know some Liberals who would love to romp in the hay with you - slimeballs both!

O/T It's been a rollicking day at NASA's GISS.

The story so far:

Two days ago, NASA's GISS releases their global temperature anomoly for October. Amid fanfares and press release, and big type on their web page, they proudly proclaim the HOTTEST OCTOBER ON RECORD Tarraa!!!!!

Later that day, some keen eyed data detectives at Watts Up With That and Climate Audit spot an oddity: Some weather stations in Siberia had the same average temperature in October as September. In fact, this happened in Finland, Ireland, England and other places. Our intrepid detectives informed NASA of it's errors.

Well, this is Jim Hansen's group. So his muppets shut down the whole GISS site. They then put up the "corrected" data, and changed some maps; then, on the discovery of further errors, different data went up, and it's as if Moe, Curly, Larry and the Sewdish Chef were running the place. Hilarious.

Follow the thread comments at Watts Up With That and Climate Audit. This has been an entertaining day; NASA has more than egg on its face; it has it's credibility hanging out of its britches for the whole world to see.

They saw a result they wanted, and just went gung-ho, rather than ask themselves whether it was too goo to be true.

Another poll that could go horribly wrong:

http://surveys.globescan.com/unep_gs_invite/

Now, behave yourselves and be serious. Although there are multiple choices, they all assume "Man Made Global Warming". However, you can always select "other" and leave a textual comment. But, be serious. Use your real name and organization as "self" if you don't work for the small clique of organizations that they expect.

Posted by: RW at November 13, 2008 7:28 PM

RW:

Just scroll down to the last item on November 11.

You're about two days behind the news and off topic.

Cheers

Posted by: set you free at November 13, 2008 8:34 PM

What I find interesting about this little affair is that this group, the Canadian Broadcasting Council, will convene a panel to check in to complaints if the complaintant is not satisfied with the original answer. I have been obviously wasting my time complaining to the cbc about their 'newscasts'. From now on I will be writing both groups and urge everyone else to do the same. The major drawback is that the more complaints they recieve the more it will cost the taxpayer and more complaints will allow another HRC style court to justify their gov't teat-sucking.....Never mind.

Posted by: wallyj at November 13, 2008 9:37 PM

Folks,

I'll give you the one hint that my source gave me:

He's from Quebec, and his name rhymes with "Baxim Mernier."

Posted by: Yukon Gold at November 13, 2008 9:43 PM

This is ridiculous. We as Canadians had every right to see Dion as he truly is. The media showed us a spiffed-up version of him every other time, fixing up his grammar, etc. It would have been criminal not to have shown it. CTV got it right that one time.

Krista Erickson is the last one to be on the ethics beat. Sheesh.

Posted by: Soccermom at November 13, 2008 10:16 PM

Fairness Doctrine North.

Posted by: Boots at November 13, 2008 10:48 PM

I just spent the day at the range AND I got to do the Globespan survey. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun. Thanks Kate et alia.

Posted by: Gussie at November 13, 2008 10:48 PM

Krista is poking the CPoC in the eye, that's all this is. I mean, the optics are so bad. The criticism against her is that she and the CBC are shills for the LPoC. She "returns" after Harper fails to secure a majority. And the piece she writes de facto comes to the defense of the Liberals. To write a piece like that after what she's been accused of is clearly her thumbing her nose as her critics - namely conservatives and their supporters. As for Flaherty... unfortunately, the CBC is a sacred cow, it won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Even with a majority CPoC in the furture. Sad because it should be sold off just on principle... even in GOOD economic times!

"Although there are multiple choices, they all assume "Man Made Global Warming"."

"When did you stop beating your wife?"

Posted by: PiperPaul at November 14, 2008 12:40 AM

OK, but she's pretty hot. All is forgiven as far as I'm concerned.

Posted by: Peter Jay at November 14, 2008 1:04 AM

Personally I don't have a problem for any person to suggest questions to be asked in a committee hearing, I have a real problem with the mp that asked the questions suggested. The mp should have declined to ask the questions. The mp had the responsiblity and the obligation to say no.

Posted by: Iain at November 14, 2008 1:23 AM

Well F*!k Me... Because a pretty girl gets nicked she's ok? Mate, I thought our democracy was in shit. You guys are deeper. We have similar crap thrust upon us here in Oz but no-one as attractive to sell it.

Our system is blesssed with a government controlled station, ironically called the ABC which is pretty much the same as a CBC.. except we don't have a KATE.

In reality, the real fault or weakness doesn't lie with the Left. It's our own fault that we don't stand up & dismiss this shit when it appears. It may sound as if it's a cliche'... but the price of fredom really is eternal vigilance. Modern governments fear it. As well they should!

Posted by: Eye from Oz at November 14, 2008 7:41 AM

Maybe they're trying the 'It takes a thief' angle. Robert Wagner's best work by the way.

Posted by: Greg at November 14, 2008 8:32 AM

The jokes just write themselves with this stuff. You couldn't make it up.

Posted by: Damian at November 14, 2008 9:44 AM

The CBC hiel krista,

"Cohen said the council has received about 40 complaints concerning the airing of the re-starts."

40 out of millions of Canadians. Beware the thought police. I thought the media view was the mic is always on. Or is that just for right wingers?

Should they have not been able to air Stockwell Day saying a river went the wrong way?
THHAAAATs Different!!!!

a mere 40 complaints and yet the CBC still will not tell us the names of the MP's they colluded with re Krista or the CBC employees that we know were involved.

Course that helps the liberals so thats fine. Because thats different.

Posted by: dinosaur at November 14, 2008 2:27 PM

The CBC is trying to run The Onion out of business.

Posted by: Stan at November 14, 2008 6:54 PM

"it wouldn't have been the debonair Max Bernier, would it?"

If true, than Bernier is banging more skin than Ringo Starr at a drum clinic.

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at November 15, 2008 12:52 AM

I hope Ms Erickson takes a run at Peter Mansbridge and does the Over Hill, Over Dale.
