"Lick spittle reporting"

Hey, geez it's an industry in Canadian MSM.

Posted by: Joe Molnar at November 13, 2008 10:02 AM

R.I.P. Satire.

Combined with yesterday's CBS News headline, "How Obama can win over the media", it seems that The Onion now has competition from ... well, everyone. Who knew the Onion and John Stewart had the only remaining viable business model for journalism?

Posted by: Dutch Canuck at November 13, 2008 10:02 AM

Just watch how these enlightened ones stab progress and reality in the back just to prove they were right and without any consideration to those that have lost their lives.

Posted by: Western Canadian at November 13, 2008 10:08 AM

Oh boy, this is a practice which was widely used in the Soviet Union: everything indicated progress, every bad sh1t was positive. Same old, same old.

Posted by: Aaron at November 13, 2008 10:15 AM

I am so sick of hearing about this Obama person already. Can people just stop posting stories about him till he actually has his second accomplishment? The first of course was getting elected President, before that nothing. If history is any indication, there should never be another word written about this guy.

Posted by: Kevin at November 13, 2008 10:18 AM

Kevin please, don't make the Obama write his third autobiography. Sheep don't read as it is meaning that book will need a bailout.

Shit! Me and my big mouth!

Posted by: Right Honorable Terry Tory at November 13, 2008 10:30 AM

well, just read on Drudge that the dems will go after Bush big time now that he will be out of office. Screw the economy, as it is not as important as "getting" Bushchiphitler

will be interesting how the O-bambam handles that one, as he may eventually become a victim of his own decision if he's not careful

interesting times ahead

welcome to the New World Order
they have won
and the media were/are major players in the campaign to destroy America
things will never be as they were

Posted by: Brad at November 13, 2008 11:01 AM

What was defeat is now victory. What was proof of Bush's eeeeevile is now proof of Obama's good. This is a poor, debased parody of the friggin' speech from 1984. Life imitates art, mostly because the jerks writing the copy are so bereft of talent they have to plagiarize other people's work.

The MSM can't go bankrupt fast enough. And speaking of bankruptcy, NY Slimes Company is breaking into new lows today. 52 week high $21.14, 52 week low $7.68, about 10 minutes ago. Batten all hatches, dive dive dive!!!

Obama won't be cutting taxes for 95% of Americans, big surprise! On top of that, he has also promised not to extend the "Bush tax cuts".

I'm not surprised, I doubt conservatives are surprised, the loons... who knows what they're thinking. The people I really don't get are the so called "Independents". These people should have some common sense, shouldn't they? These are the people who decide elections; yet, they appear to be as gullible and ignorant of history as the aforementioned loons. I don't see how anyone can believe anything the O says, unless they are completely in the tank for him.

Posted by: Indiana Homez at November 13, 2008 11:19 AM

You mean all those journalists who threw their panties up on stage to Obama aren't already won over?
I wasn't sure if I was watching election press conferences or Tom Jones concerts.

Posted by: Stan at November 13, 2008 11:21 AM

If I remember correctly there's a big "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner around somewhere

Posted by: Erik Larsen at November 13, 2008 11:22 AM

The Onion is doomed, there is no way they can compete with the MSM now.

Posted by: Stan at November 13, 2008 11:23 AM

How Obama can Win over the Media ?

Uh, that's an Oxymoron ain't it ?

I voted for Bush twice and even though Bush, Rove and I parted ways after the Amnesty Deal I still will not support Obambi because of the way the Media stabbed Bush in the back.

Posted by: Ratt at November 13, 2008 12:16 PM

"If I remember correctly there's a big "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner around somewhere"

Yes, Erik. Unfortunately, after ridiculing it for a few years, the media are now trying to borrow it.

Posted by: Warwick at November 13, 2008 12:19 PM

Unbelievable. Satire is indeed dead.
Seriously, though, this is scary. I feel I'm living in a nation of zombies.

Surprise Surprise

[McGuinty fears Obama will force jobs out of Ontario] G&M

Too bad Canada's media didn't get to know BO better. Kinsella also.

Posted by: ron in kelowna at November 13, 2008 12:38 PM

I got the way to save the GOP. Anyone with a college or university education should be thrown out of the party. You must be a Christian who believes in creationism, have a life time NRA membership, and understand the grave threat to the USA that foreigners represent. Palin 2012

The only way we can lose is if the MSM brainwashes all those stupid sheep voters, who unlike us true conservatives are too stupid to see through the lies. Only we are smart enough to see the truth.

Posted by: todd at November 13, 2008 12:40 PM

The cover of Newsweek on 3 Nov 2008 had the headline, "Nightmare on Pennsylvania Avenue/
The scary challenges facing the next President on Day One".

So anything Obama will do, in the eyes of the legacy media, will be coping with a terrible situation. He's going to have much more difficulty handling the Congress than the media.

Posted by: John Lewis at November 13, 2008 1:19 PM

Throw a few cliches around like Todd and join the brownshirt MSM...

Where's your bailout cheque Todd? In the mail?

Posted by: Right Honorable Terry Tory at November 13, 2008 1:22 PM

Oh Comon Todd, you mean to tell me that if I support your NRA Card carrying Christian arse while we are deporting Illegal Immigrants you are gona throw me out of the Party because I have a Bachelor's Degree in Math and CS ?
,

Posted by: Ratt at November 13, 2008 1:37 PM

Todd, it would take a Masters in English to make you gullible enough to swallow the DemocRats current line. Women's Studies would do too.

In universities these days they see Orwell's 1984 as an instruction manual, not a dystopian vision. That's why liberal arts grads all go DemocRat. They like what they see.

Obama's message to the world: we will act quickly on climate change:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/nov/13/obama-environment-message-biden

Is it just me, or did that "news article" say exactly nothing??

Posted by: jcl at November 13, 2008 2:09 PM

i hope the bastards choke on their efforts to win the o one over.

Posted by: old white guy at November 13, 2008 3:44 PM

Posted by: Revnant Dream at November 13, 2008 7:49 PM

from the comments,

"there will now be no more homeless people."

Of course there are no more homeless people. They've all been given addresses - so they could vote.

Posted by: reg dunlop at November 13, 2008 7:56 PM

The headline sounds more in line with "Tiger Beat", not CBS News. PS - reg d - heh!

Posted by: Erik Larsen at November 13, 2008 8:05 PM

Hey Erik.

Maybe they will include "crush quizzes" and poster size photo's of Obama on their new "Tiger Beat" TV channel.

Posted by: Aizlynne at November 13, 2008 10:16 PM

Anyone wanting to know how the Big Owe can win over the media should go ask the Washington Post how they got conned, oopps I mean, won over.

Posted by: rockyt at November 13, 2008 10:27 PM

Here is what a liberal journalist, Camilla Paglia, had to say about her own breed:

"The mountain of rubbish poured out about Palin over the past month would rival Everest. What a disgrace for our jabbering army of liberal journalists and commentators, too many of whom behaved like snippy jackasses. The bourgeois conventionalism and rank snobbery of these alleged humanitarians stank up the place. As for Palin's brutally edited interviews with Charlie Gibson and that viper, Katie Couric, don't we all know that the best bits ended up on the cutting-room floor? Something has gone seriously wrong with Democratic ideology, which seems to have become a candied set of holier-than-thou bromides attached like tutti-frutti to a quivering green Jell-O mold of adolescent sentimentality."

Indeed .....
