The Audacity Of Dope

Nice move, rookie;

Just hours after President Bush and President-elect Obama met in the Oval Office of the White House, details of their confidential conversation began leaking out to the press, igniting anger from the president, sources claim.

"Senator Obama would be wise to keep close counsel," a top Bush source warned.

"BUSH AND OBAMA AT ODDS OVER AID FOR AUTO INDUSTRY," splashed the NEW YORK TIMES in an exclusive Monday evening, quoting "people familiar with the discussion."

The two met at the White House in private, without staff.

But that's not all.... from Ayers to the IRA to palling around with Hamas. More on that here;
That Malley would be working on Middle East policy for the new administration is troubling enough, but the fact they've now repeatedly been dishonest about his involvement in the campaign makes it much worse.

(So, should people speculate as to where this leak came from?)

Posted by Kate at November 11, 2008 12:09 PM

Robert Malley also dabbles in "international conflict resolution" also an area that Arbour and Lynch are somewhat familiar.

I am amazed how Obama employs such a subtle "I am better than you" tone

When asked how he would he working with Bush during the transition, he responded "I don't anticipate any problems", etc etc. A classy response would be "Things are going fine, and President Bush and I have had cordial meetings" etc etc

When asked about intelligence briefings, he said that the "Quality of intelligence could always be improved". How does he know? What does that mean? Again, a classy response would be "I have been informed of important issues, and will continue to work during the transitional period to further explore various international options given the information at hand"

I hope Bush hid the silverware.

All this truly important stuff the electorate need to find out about their new messiah will be quickly discarted by the MSM and/or seen as "boring" by the leftoids. So the honeymoon and Oprahland dreams of "Camelot" will continue(Yes, CNN is already calling it as such and comparing the O's family similar to the JFK clan).
Note of advice to CNN, something happened Nov 23 1963: Google it!.
Afterwards, you may want to use another comparison for your new king. Otherwise, it's kinda spooky IMO.

The honeymoon will end when the leftoids figure out that Obama lied to them about him having a money tree plantation for all.

Posted by: Right Honorable Terry Tory at November 11, 2008 1:12 PM

Mr Obama is acting as like the new manager taking over in a merger....nothing the other guy did could possibly be correct.

Chocago style meets texas style...which one looks "hickey" and "classless" now?

A more humble approach might be advised. The leak was dumb. GW is trying to be gracious and tying to help. Accept it graciously, you dont have to follow it. GW is definitley well meaning, maybe wrong or misguided (depends on where you sit) but he definitely is trying to make it work.

O should not have let that out, it makes him look small. This is a time to be big....presidnetial. He doesnt look that way yet....takes time, neither GW nor Clinton did at the beginning, GHW and Reagan did.

Those unsure of themselves often compensate with false confidence, children demand attention, adultsaccept reponsibility. Obama seems to need endless attention. This is not an asset for the position he will but has not yet assumed.
Bush has much more influence than Obama appears to realize and a respect for the office that Obama seems to lack.

CNN doesn't exist anymore on my dial. No point in watching it. The start of the end was many months ago, during the campaign when it was abundantly clear that CNN's new slogan was "All Obama, All The Time", on their quest to getting The One elected.

My only reason for ever spending any time there, was to watch Glenn Beck, but, I wondered how long he wouldo last, preaching from the right, on a station that had decidedly moved to the left. Alas, GB was gone, soon to be on Fox News, and, with the current CNN lineup (Campbell Brown&^&^*&? DJ Hughley?!%$#&*^&^ ), there's no point watching. The cultural differences are profound, it is nigh impossible to watch this stuff, and I'm a pretty open minded, tolerant fellow.

A little OT, but had to be said.

The Oprah comment resonates hard. With CNN linking to her website, noticably, for the past few months, it was obvious the fix was in. Her wishy washy pseudo-religious manifesto is just more icing on the cake, that the American people have been hijacked by the idiot fringe, which coated their armor with sweet, candy flavoured icing, if you get my drift.

Things are going to get ugly for our neighbours down south, but it's gonna take a few years for the blind and sleeping to wake up and see what they have wrought

During his campaign,Obama NEVER permitted leaks. In spite of his "one President at a time" quote at his first Pres elect press conference, Obama sat down with Bush, left the private meeting and spilled it all (very tacky). He is really attempting to strong arm his way into the White House prematurely, ably assisted by the cocky little dictator Rahn Emanual.

This is Chicago thuggery and a far cry from the kinder/gentler, hopey/changey Obama that won the election. Obama has lied. He has lied to everyone. The far left are just finding out how much he deceived them to get their vote.

However, ya gotta dance with them that brung you so Obama is throwing it all at the unions right now. They want money and they do not want any trade with Columbia, free or otherwise. Protectionism is the new American way. Wait until he starts "re"negotiating NAFTA.

Can't wait for my bumper sticker with a Canadian maple leaf on it..."Don't blame us. We didn't vote for him.

He will be the first and probably last black President of the US.

Somewhere inside, I think the Dems set him up for failure. Not like the left is "closet bigotry" or anything like they've revealed themselves to be in the last while.

Sad, really.

In the desire to put a black man in the White one gave any forethought to what happens afterward.

If Obamasiah demonstrates right from the gitgo that he can't keep his mouth shut in private conversations with heads of state (out going or not), then he simply won't be told anything by foreign heads, or he won't be told truths (but then what's a truth to a truther). His capacity for meaningful intel will become very diminished. Not to say heads of state are always truthful, but necessary allegiances are built on a presumption of trust, with a dollop of canniness.

Besides; Bush bailed Fannie/Freddie/IndyMac/Wall Street out he will bail the Big-3 out.

What's gona get the Messiah is his poking around with those UBS Switzerland Off-Shore Accounts for Rich Americans dodging those Liberal Socialist Ideologies of Redistribution of Wealth, not to mention; Obama has already stated this is one of his pet-pives.

Posted by: Ratt at November 11, 2008 3:53 PM

Sour Grapes just more Sour Grapes - big deal - just shows that Bush is a lame duck and Obama already has an economic plan in place. Just like he should have. If this was McCain all of you would be applauding him.

More conservative handwringing thats all.

Posted by: BeardysCree at November 11, 2008 4:00 PM

hardright - that's a silly commment. This situation has nothing to do with Obama's skin colour. It's a political tactic.

Bush may not wish to transform the private automanufacturing industries into publicly funded industries. Harper has said the same; that he doesn't want to set up the automanufacturers, which are private companies, as dependent on taxpayer funds. We've already noted that the Auto Unions are the real cause of the collapse of these industries in N. America.

So, if Bush holds off such funding, while Obama's team has leaked that he's in favour of it, he gets political gain in the public eye..without spending any of the taxpayers' money.

When he comes into office in January, he may do something else, but his actions are heavily pragmatic and focused on how these actions appear to the public. He has strong similarities to our own Jean Chretien, another individual focused on, not the welfare of the country, but his own political welfare. So, such behaviour has nothing to do with 'skin colour'.

Posted by: ET at November 11, 2008 4:04 PM

Yep, and we already know what Obama's economic plans is; Redistribution of Wealth.

When Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball he was both a first class player and a first class person. This helped him succeed against all odds and paved the path for other black athletes. If he would have bombed due to bad baseball skills or because he could not handle the pressure it would have made the case that blacks can't cut it. Barack has the same challenge and given the poor record of black leaders in Africa much is riding on his performance.

ET, Hard Right does have a point. The DemocRats and their MSM propaganda arm have been so excited to elect a black man president that they haven't paid a scintilla of mind to -which- black man they are getting elected.

Even if he has an entirely uninspired, pedestrian, do-nothing term he will be treated as a GOD by the MSM and this will smooth the path for all other non-white candidates that follow.

However if he does what you and I and everybody else here expects and screws up by the numbers due to his apparent arrogance and inexperience, or possibly sheer bloody crookedness, he will poison the well for at least a generation.

That would be a shame.

“The spiral into irrelevancy continues for SDA.”
I’m not sure if this was a generalized comment to this thread or towards mine, as it followed directly afterwards.

To play defense (if indeed your comment was directed at mine) the relevance of my comment was the difference in commitment by either Bush or Obamba towards helping the failing US auto industry. I put forward Obamba’s interests as a subtle targeting of one specific racial group for help - aside from the failing manufacturing infrastructure.

The Auto industry based in Detroit has an overwhelming 60% black labor force which far outreaches the national average of 12% – 13% blacks. It is relative to his policies if select industries receive government bailouts and aid based on his preferred demographics.

As many of you know, I am a VietNam vet and spent many a sodden night in the trenches. This sort of thing makes me sick. Now back when I was doing some what you would deem clandistine work in England, I met a man who had done many such jobs, mostly in the Middle East but occasionally in central Asia. Now I can't really talk too much about this sort of thing, naturally; but lets just say that this guy knows what it's like to kill the enemies of Israel with his bare hands as frankly do I. To conclude let me say that when you look deeply into a man's eyes as you squeeze the last drop of life from him, you have truly lived.

Many conservative pundits and Republican officeholders on the national stage have reacted to the election of Barack Obama as a promising step forward in the history of race relations and democracy in the U.S. But gaining much less coverage from the national media are local reactions that are far less accepting and positive.

Away from the spotlight, many local newspapers around the country have covered recent incidents of racially-motivated reactions to last week’s election, from flags hung upside down to the dangling of nooses and cross-burnings. As we noted last week, a couple in northern New Jersey who had an Obama sign on their front lawn woke up to find the charred remains of a cross out there. Local residents today announced a "unity march" to protest the still-unsolved incident.

Now come these fresh reports.

The Associated Press revealed today, "Police on eastern Long Island are investigating reports that more than a dozen cars were spray painted with racist graffiti, reportedly including a message targeting President-elect Barack Obama. The graffiti included racist slurs and sexually graphic references. At least one resident in the quiet Mastic neighborhood told Newsday her son's car was scribbled with a message threatening to kill Obama."

Employees at Hampel's Key and Lockshop in Traverse City, Michigan, flew an American flag upside down last Wednesday protesting of the new president-elect, the Traverse City Record-Eagle reported. One worker used a racial slur during an interview with the Record-Eagle: "(The inverted flag is) an international signal for distress and we feel our country is in distress because the n----- got in," said Hampel’s employee Rod Nyland, who later apologized for the comment, according to the Record-Eagle.

Also in Michigan, in Midland, a man dressed in full Ku Klux Klan regalia walked around toting a handgun and waving an American flag. Initially denying it, the man eventually admitted to police that the display was a reaction to the Obama victory. “[The man] had a concealed weapon permit and was walking up and down the sidewalk in front of a vehicle dealership while some motorists shouted obscenities at him and others shouted accolades," police told The Saginaw News.

One North Carolina man who flew his flag upside down claimed that voters were racist, electing Obama because of his skin color, according to the Winston-Salem Journal. “The flag is stretched upside-down between two poles in a field, with a black X running from end to end. The X is a reference to the Confederate flag, said flag-owner Tony Heath. It reflects his belief that the Confederate flag has been unfairly targeted for protest by people trying to be politically correct,” the Journal reported.

In Pennsylvania, an interracial couple in Apolacon Township discovered the remains of a burned cross in their front yard. “The couple discovered the remnants of the cross about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 5) when a man knocked at their door. Johnson looked out the front window and noticed charring on the utility pole, then discovered two charred 1-by-3-inch planks, each about 4 feet in length, beneath it,” according to the Star-Gazette. The woman, who is Jewish, lives with her husband, who is black. "The Little Meadows area was the site of KKK rallies several decades ago, and a local woman who worked on Obama's campaign said Wednesday she heard tales of racist remarks directed at supporters," the story concludes.

Just today, two men were arrested there: 19-year-old Forrest Ashcraft and 22-yearold Stephen Barret of Friendsville. They're charged with ethnic intimidation and trespassing.

Authorities in Temecula, Calif., found spray-painted graffiti on a city sidewalk containing a swastika and anti-Obama slogan.

From today's Los Angeles Times: "Vandals spray-painted swastikas and racial slurs on a house and several cars in Torrance that displayed campaign signs or bumper stickers for President-elect Barack Obama, authorities said Tuesday. The incidents occurred Saturday night in the Hollywood Riviera section of the city, said Sgt. Bernard Anderson. Four separate incidents were reported the next day, he said. No arrests have been made.

"At one house, the phrase 'Go Back to Africa' was spray-painted across the wall, in addition to a racial epithet on the garage door, Anderson said. Several parked vehicles on the streets were spray-painted with racial slurs, he said."

Today, the NAACP called on North Carolina State University to expel four students who spray painted racist messages about Obama. Two of the messages said: "Let's shoot that (N-word) in the head" and "Hang Obama by a noose."

Students at Baylor University woke up on Election Day to a rope tied like a noose hanging from a tree outside of Morrison Hall, according to college newspaper The Lariat: “Later, verbal altercations occurred outside of Penland Residence Hall. A group of Obama supporters were walking around shouting 'Obama' and then passed a group of white men outside who made threatening and racist remarks, said Emmanuel Orupabo, Arlington senior,” according to the Lariat.

Another post-election noose incident happened in Maine. “More than 75 people rallied Sunday against an incident last week in which black figures were hanged by nooses from trees on Mount Desert Island the day after Barack Obama won the presidential election,” according to the Bangor Daily News. At a high school in Gray, a student was suspended after standing up in class, making a racist comment, and saying Obama should not be president, the News reported. Later that day, graffiti making a similar statement was found in a boys’ restroom.
