Well writen article by Raheel Raza at American Thinker about the connection between the NDP and Islamists. Odd timing, but can you imagine reading this in our MSM?

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/11/the_islamist_role_in_the_2008.html

"Endorsed by the Canadian Islamic Congress (CIC), the left-leaning NDP has shown an incredible lack of understanding of the Islamist agenda and how soft jihadis are using democratic institutions by manipulating our respect for multiculturalism."

Some good comments also but one is worth checking out. Scrool down to[Posted by: David

I think the NDP understands full well the Islamic agenda. There are a lot of extremists (i.e., communists) in the NDP's backrooms, and the Islamic movement shows every sign of being aligned with international communism. Just because the Marxists don't hold power in so many places doesn't mean they aren't plotting as usual. There are enough who follow that false philosphy to cause a hell of a lot of trouble for a free society -- such as the bogus human rights commissions that we have to endure.

It's always amusing to me when "celebrities" (who are most often actors) endorse politicians or "movement" causes.

These famous people are paid handsomely for PRETENDING to be something they're not.

Why would anyone believe anything they say when they cozy up to one side versus the other? Maybe they're just paid shills and we'd never know because they're so good at their jobs.

And why does these celebrities always seem to be exclusively supporting leftist causes? Are there no right-leaning celebrities out there?

The disappearing male
Studies show rise in birth defects, infertility among men

Are males becoming an endangered species?

That's the question scientists and researchers have been pondering since alarming trends in male fertility rates, birth defects and disorders began emerging around the world.

More and more boys are being born with genital defects and are suffering from learning disabilities, autism and Tourette's syndrome, among other disorders.

Ahhh, Roxy Music. I really enjoyed their tour in 78/79 (the Manifesto one) and some of the stuff since. I gotta say though, some of Bryan's interpretations on his new "Dylanesque" album really miss the mark.

Arctic Ice Extent Now Likely Highest Level Since 2002

The latest daily arctic sea ice extent chart from IJIS shows the current year ice extent at the highest level in the record back to 2002. (2003 was missing).

This represents an increase of 655,781 square kilometers over last November 7 or 7.4%. Side-by-side images from the Cryosphere show there is more ice on both the Pacific and Atlantic side this year. This is 44 days before the start of the Northern Hemisphere winter and 5 months before it will peak."

I doubt it. Barney Frank and other Hussein loyalists have already stated their plans to gut defence spending; the CNAS report I tipped on Friday wants too much investment in naval power.

(Via SWJ) Spencer Ackerman, Obama’s Pentagon-in-Waiting

...CNAS, as it’s known, is widely considered a likely feeder for the Obama Pentagon, though the organization disputes this — preferring to bill itself as nonpartisan. What CNAS does not dispute is that, over the course of the past two years — overnight, in Washington terms — it has emerged as an energetic center for studying contemporary defense issues, including Iraq, counterinsurgency and the national-security effects of climate change.

CNAS fellows like John Nagl, Colin Kahl, Vikram Singh, Shawn Brimley, Nate Fick and Roger Carstens will likely be key players in the defense debates of the next several years — whether they join an Obama administration or not. If they do join the administration, however, expect counterinsurgency to be a major focus of the next Pentagon team...

Secret enclaves of al-Qaeda extremists based in London, Birmingham and Luton are planning mass-casualty attacks in Britain, according to a leaked Government intelligence report.

The document, which was drawn up by the intelligence branch of the Ministry of Defence, MI5 and Special Branch, states that "some thousands" of extremists are active in the UK. They are predominantly UK-born and aged between 18 and 30, and many are believed to have been trained in overseas terrorist camps...

(PDF warning) Col. Ian Hope, PPCLI, Unity of Command in Afghanistan: A Forsaken Principle of War

In Afghanistan today, want of moral singleness, simplicity, and intensity of purpose harp of military failure. This is attributable to an abrupt departure from a long-standing and distinctly American practice of insisting on unity of command. The United States is the only country where military doctrine recognizes the principle of “unity of command,” and has successfully applied it in multiple alliances and coalitions since 1918... This paper examines the departure from this principle that occurred in Afghanistan in 2006, when Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan (CFC-A) passed control of the ground fight to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), and operations became split between Commander U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and Commander U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

Sebastien Peyrouse, Sino-Kazakh Relations: A Nascent Strategic Partnership

While the Chinese authorities make a point of honoring the establishment of cordial relations with all five Central Asian states, Kazakhstan enjoys a unique status. Since 2005 the China-Kazakhstan partnership has been termed a “strategic” one, the highest of diplomatic epithets, confirming that Astana is considered a major political ally by Beijing in the post-Soviet space, and all the more so at a time when the Kazakh government is displaying balanced and diversified policies in the face of Moscow’s heavy-handed presence. However, despite this obvious confluence of political will, strategic cooperation remains tentative: while the Sino-Kazakh economic partnership functions well, the strategic alliance continues to be impeded due to differences of opinion and of interests, and, on the Kazakh side, uncertainty about the long-term ambitions of its Chinese neighbor toward the region as a whole...

Ottawa's new $1B boondoggle - Government's secure Internet channel experiences a fatal error in spending and execution

...Perhaps the most galling aspect of this story for taxpayers is that in the seven years since the Secure Channel was first approved for funding, the federal auditor general has issued no fewer than four separate reports red-flagging the project as a potential fiscal fiasco in the making.

In her 2003 analysis, for instance, Sheila Fraser cautioned the project was in the process of chewing through hundreds of millions of dollars with "no comprehensive business case that indicates ... costs, benefits and risks, and an implementation plan."

...Almost two weeks ago, we requested a Treasury Board briefing on the Secure Channel and its current status.

Instead, on Friday we received the department's official statement which claims: "The Government of Canada is committed to cost efficiency in every aspect of service delivery." Sheila Fraser would likely beg to differ. Sometime in the coming weeks, the auditor general is expected to issue yet another damning update on this still unfolding fiscal horror story.

Meanwhile, taxpayers continue to get hosed while government contractors are laughing all the way to the bank -- if not to the Bahamas."

Sadly, normal every day waste and inefficiency through government. Tell me again why Harper increased spending across government by 20% in the past three years?

Reid, Pelosi Urge Treasury to Extend Aid to Automakers
By Lori Montgomery
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, November 9, 2008; A01

With the nation's automotive industry hemorrhaging cash, congressional leaders called on the Bush administration yesterday to offer government assistance to the car companies as part of the Treasury Department's $700 billion emergency rescue program.

The call came one day after General Motors, the nation's largest auto manufacturer, announced another multibillion dollar loss for the third quarter and said it was running out of money fast. Ford, the second-biggest car company, also reported heavy losses. Unless the government steps in, analysts warned, GM could face bankruptcy, endangering the livelihoods of about 100,000 North American autoworkers and hundreds of thousands of others whose jobs depend on the industry...."

Concerned about manufacturers, Ottawa eyes another round of economic stimulus
Paul Vieira in Sao Paulo and Alia McMullen in Toronto, Financial Post Published: Sunday, November 09, 2008

"Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said Sunday his Conservative government would be prepared to introduce another round of domestic economic stimulus given the "significant" damage that the credit crisis is having on the economy....He said he was particularly concerned about the manufacturing sector, led by the auto industry, given that U.S. consumer demand has "fallen off a cliff."

"I would not rule out further economic actions," Mr. Flaherty told the Financial Post....The goal here is not to worry about a deficit. It is worrying about managing the economy properly, protecting Canadian families, making ,sure Canadian businesses can fund their inventories so that they carry on business and protect jobs."

That sounds expensive. Wonder where that cumulative $40 billion in surplus went of the past three years?

Hey, don't let me spoil the surprise....

Enough with the corporate welfare. At this rate the US government will own all the major producers or be in hawk to them. They already own most of the real estate in the Land.
It goes double for here. Not only do we bail out companies but whole provinces with producer taxes. They just end up with the user abusers. Pheasant under glass anyone or maybe a 500 dollar pizza, maybe another private jet for CEO‘s with no conscience?

Abe Greenwald, The Climate-Change Reformation

Al Gore — outdone only by L. Ron Hubbard in his ability to weave science fiction into a religion — is reforming the climate change faith, and turning it toward the discussion of energy independence and American financial viability. The truth, alas, has proved too inconvenient to ignore. Among non-partisan researchers, there is now little doubt that human-generated carbon dioxide makes only an insignificant contribution to climate change. More importantly, there is agreement among virtually all climatologists that the planet is experiencing the beginnings of a cold spell, expected to last as long as 30 years, due to a decrease in solar activity. Most significantly, however, the tangible financial crisis has displaced concerns over the invisible climatological one. With the mercury plunging alongside the Dow Jones, the Gore age is on the way out...

Maybe I watch too much television. I am becoming more and more iritated by the number of commercials that slag men. It seems that no one can make a commercial anymore that doesn't have some guy made out to be an idiot. Maybe I'm a little thin-skinned about this but I ask myself if it would be acceptable to have that many commercials making women out to be morons. We all know that this would simply not be acceptable. I think of the rediculous Coors commercial where a few guys are watching for a mountain to change color - the guy that appears in front of a driveway where a woman is spraying her new car, he asks if he can drive it, she sprays him.

There are many other examples. I think men should care about these depictions of males. We should note whose commercials they are and simply not buy that product. That's what I'm doing.

Why not get a progressive list going to keep track of the commercials?

Posted by: Bruce at November 9, 2008 3:18 PM

The Libranos, of course.

The Cons got the stroke given to them 3 YEARS ago now, and the gong show continues.

Hundreds of millions of dollars wasted on connected politicos and lobby based IT consulting body shops.

The Cons first order of business should be full stop on red flagged initiatives by the AG.

to myself, two lessons from this:
1. governments are a poor allocator of resources, and should be as small as possible.
2. the Cons structurally increased the size of governments and spending by 20% in their first three budgets.

I know the partisans in here can't get past it, but you know, I'd like to think as a conservative, I am doing my part by pointing that out.

Now, go pay your tax installment, donate to the Cons, and praise your 'conservative' government. And remember, the Liberals are the enemy.

There's a good member.

Obama to use executive orders for immediate impact
By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER

President-elect Obama plans to use his executive powers to make an immediate impact when he takes office, perhaps reversing Bush administration policies on stem cell research and domestic drilling for oil and natural gas.

John Podesta, Obama's transition chief, said Sunday Obama is reviewing President Bush's executive orders on those issues and others as he works to undo policies enacted during eight years of Republican rule. He said the president can use such orders to move quickly on his own.

"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we'll see the president do that," Podesta said. "I think that he feels like he has a real mandate for change. We need to get off the course that the Bush administration has set."

Podesta also said Obama is working to build a diverse Cabinet. That includes reaching out to Republicans and independents - part of the broad coalition that supported Obama during the race against Republican John McCain. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has been mentioned as a possible holdover.

"Nuclear power plants smaller than a garden shed and able to power 20,000 homes will be on sale within five years, say scientists at Los Alamos, the US government laboratory which developed the first atomic bomb.

The miniature reactors will be factory-sealed, contain no weapons-grade material, have no moving parts and will be nearly impossible to steal because they will be encased in concrete and buried underground."
