It Was Inevitable, Really

Privately, sources within the NDP say Calvert never quite recovered from the Raise A Flag scandal of '05.

"In fact, there is a possibility Wall and the Saskatchewan Party can eat further into the NDP's urban dominance while maintaining their grip on the rural vote. If that begins to happen, then the future for the NDP in Saskatchewan could begin to look rather bleak for an extended period of time."

Ah that sounds good

Posted by: Voidraithe at October 16, 2008 1:28 AM

How the mighty (stupid) have fallen.

Posted by: langmann at October 16, 2008 1:41 AM

Wow! Kate sure is cute!

Posted by: Edward Teach at October 16, 2008 2:02 AM

Don't ever mess with small dead animals. They can come back and bite you in the ass.

Good work Kate. Now keep you foot on their neck until they are dead(figurativelt speaking, of course)

BTW, the best line in the vidoe was from the Canadian Taxpayer guy who said that SDA had a readership that rivaled the cbc. Priceless.

Horny Toad

Posted by: Horny Toad at October 16, 2008 2:05 AM

"Experienced players within the party assume Sask Party Premier Brad Wall is likely to stay in office for at least two terms"

1. is that all? certainly he meant "at least two MORE terms"? and if the world's a scary place then, it's no place for more fear.
2. oh man, it looks like the Riders are going to be competitive for 8 more years minimum? (never a Grey Cup win with the NDP.)

In certain circles, probably my favorite statistic ever...!

Posted by: marc in calgary at October 16, 2008 2:14 AM

Do'n mess wit Kate!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: celina at October 16, 2008 2:18 AM

and that's not a diss the Riders comment either!

Posted by: marc in calgary at October 16, 2008 2:20 AM

The fact that SDA is roaring along, rivaling the total readership and viewership of CBC and CTV, whilst forlorn Lorne is disappearing from the public view, into one of the potholes he left in Sask. roads; speaks to the byline Lorne himself gave to SDA "SDA speaks for citizens of Sask.*

Off into the sunset Lorne, I am certain you won't be missed by many.

Posted by: Jema 54 at October 16, 2008 2:31 AM

That's priceless: Kate mobilizes her troops and proves that Calvert rigged a poll and froze the results; he responds, in the manner of Don Knotts caught pants-down in a whorehouse raid, with "We'll just freeze it at the results it was, until we get this, try to build a better security fence...or something..."

I love reporter Wayne Mantyka's deadpan, too: "Although the online poll has been rendered roadkill by Small Dead Animals, the government is trying to revive it..."

Ah hoo ha ha ha.

There's only one SDA -- don't be fooled by cheap imitations.

Posted by: EBD at October 16, 2008 3:01 AM

About a million years ago I ran a campaign in Shaunavon which came within 143 votes of beating Dwain Lingenfelter...the likely Calvert successor.

The survey is hilarious but not nearly so funny as watching Calvert deal with these blog thingies.

Posted by: Jay Currie at October 16, 2008 3:19 AM

The NDP likes phony (Gore) Celebrities why not import LIZ May? She would fit right into the NDP practice of having the near right questions for the middle class but with all the wrong answers. Actually they have had the same wrong answers for 40 years

Posted by: Phillip G. Shaw at October 16, 2008 6:31 AM

...Whooohooo!

Now can we do that with the CBC?

Posted by: tomax7 at October 16, 2008 6:57 AM

The wages of sin. Kate points out the sin, Calvert gets his wages.

Got a frickin' truckload that time, eh Lorne?

Posted by: The Phantom at October 16, 2008 8:19 AM

That was well done, beautiful Kate.

Calvert says: " well that blog or whatever, I was just handed a note, see they were voting to test.... *sputter* *choke* *sweat*.... "

Kate say: Gotcha!

Calvert was as flustered with the truth, as the exiting dion is.

Posted by: ldd at October 16, 2008 8:49 AM

ForLorne Calvert exiting the same day as Borat Dion. what a coupe! maybe ForLorne thought he would fly under the radar.

with Borat resigning today its unlikely we will hear anything but that on CBCpravda or CTV(tass) , the whole Canadian Election has been wiped from the pravda agenda like yesterdays mustard stains and we are pretty much into the lieberal leadership race simmering under the headlines in pravda.

Posted by: cal2 at October 16, 2008 9:04 AM

Jay Currie - Lingenfelter the likely successor to Lorne Calvert? I guess you haven't heard. Dwaine now lives in Calgary and works for a company in the oil and gas industry. He is no longer a Socialist. He saw the light! I highly doubt he will come back to a life he no longer believes in. Too many bad memories and wives back there.

Posted by: a different Bob at October 16, 2008 9:11 AM

in honour of ForLorne put his SDA speech in the title block again , just for a day.

with these two gone we are on to other birds, Puffin Iggy, Booby Rae, The Dull Headed Fry, cue the music.

Posted by: cal2 at October 16, 2008 9:14 AM

Now that Lorne is no longer in politics he can answer his true calling...Doing testimonials for
Preparation H.

I always love the road kill quote in that video.

Posted by: Ryan at October 16, 2008 10:04 AM

I'm hoping Nettie Wiebe decides to run for leadership. She has all the attributes the Sask Dippers need in a leader.

Posted by: Lyta at October 16, 2008 10:38 AM

Calvert and soon Dion....all my political heroes are being put to pasture. Who am I supposed to look to for inspiration in these troubling times?

Posted by: swatter at October 16, 2008 10:48 AM

Will Lorne re-emerge as a candidate for the Liberal Leadership?
After all NDP provincial leaders always seem to drop the NDP after screwing up the province their in(BC,On)jump ship, and reinvent themselves as Liberals.

Posted by: bryanr at October 16, 2008 11:03 AM

Ah Kate, those were good times.

Posted by: David MacLean at October 16, 2008 11:23 AM

The NDP will choose a leader that is firmly in left field. The days of the NDP representing farmers and average folks is long gone. Their membership is now completely controlled by the unions and "social justice" groups. These groups will not tolerate anyone that deviates from their collectivist norms. So I would expect that their next leader will come from one of these two groups and not a current or past NDP politician. Then after a couple of failed elections they will wise up and put out a moderate front (wo)man.

Posted by: lynnh at October 16, 2008 11:25 AM

Obviously, Lorne's teleprompter was on the fritz that day. I hope the reverend is better at saving souls than Saskatchewan.

Posted by: Texas Canuck at October 16, 2008 11:31 AM

Kate

That's a classic! Poor Lorne...sputtering and spitting with blog all over his face.Good riddance!

With the Dippers vanquished in Saskatchewan and Dionne and the Green Shaft all but buried we're considering moving our business to Saskatoon to take advantage of the coming economic wave.

Posted by: The Phantom at October 16, 2008 11:34 AM

Good catch Kate. I have being a faithful SDA reader from Dec 2005. You have and will always serve for the truth and justice of "Bullsh*t" that the politics and msm is putting out there.

Posted by: Merle Underwood at October 16, 2008 11:50 AM

I love when we get a body count from our efforts. Job well done Kate.

Posted by: Rosco at October 16, 2008 12:50 PM

remember forLorne tried to make a direct deal with the Chinese for the Saskatchewan Oil Sands. maybe he had forsight. with Obama cutting off Canadian oil, the Chinese may be the first in the queue.

then a pull out of Iraq, then an invasion of Georgia by the Russkies and a pipeline pinch off. we will find out that this is the moment that the US is taken out at the knees by the ubermessiah.

Posted by: cal2 at October 16, 2008 1:40 PM

Small Dead Animals does not only speak for the people of Saskatchewan, but for all of Canada. If I may quote Mathethew 13:42 from memory, "an angel will gather them up,and cast them in a furnace and in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" aah that would be yourself Kate. You "won your wings" some time ago It is the MSM's job along with H M loyal opposition to hold Politicians feet to "the fire" looks like Small Dead Animals is doing a better job. Calvert looked like a "turkey in the headlights" priceless! he better get "that internet blogg thing fixed" SDA EVERYDAY!
Cheers Bubba

Posted by: Bubba Brown at October 16, 2008 1:50 PM

the guy looked like he was going to cry over his blessed poll, & its defilment by a Blog. To rich!!!

Posted by: Revnant Dream at October 16, 2008 2:12 PM

Kate, I love the new by-line at the top of SDA. You got enough mileage out of Calvert's comment. Something new is good. And (correct me if I am wrong) it is a quote from your very self, is it not? And a priceless one at that.
On to other things: my daughter is at a college in Edmonton Strathcona. Her take on the Conservative loss. It's the conehead academics at the U of A and Kings U etc who have pushed Global Warming that have brainwashed the electorate there.

Posted by: jack at October 16, 2008 2:27 PM

I always imagine Calvert paddling furiously in a canoe in a water filled Saskatchewan highway pothole. Paddling furiously, and going nowhere -- leadership you can trust. That's Lorne CULvert.

Posted by: Hannibal Lectern at October 16, 2008 3:32 PM

Shorter Lorne Calvert:

"Democracy for Me, not for Thee."

Posted by: Tom at October 16, 2008 4:31 PM

Being a Minnesotan who frequently visits SDA, Ahahahaha.
Good one

Posted by: Lee Sorensen at October 16, 2008 5:12 PM

Lorne did do much for our provincial floral diversity.
He increased the number of those reflective red diamond shaped flowers that grow beside the potholes in our highways. They must need the water that collects in the potholes.
What are they called again?
NDP lillies?
They are quite pretty, but it's too bad you need a hacksaw or a blow torch to cut through the steel stem on them.
I notice their numbers seem to be dropping now that their natural pothole habitat is being destroyed by the evil Sask Party government.
Lorne sure encouraged us to slow down and smell the flowers, cause like if you didn't hit the brakes near them you'd likely leave your crankshaft in one of the potholes they grow beside.

Posted by: Stan at October 16, 2008 5:13 PM

THAT is why I check SDA daily.
The news is the news, but I prefer the real feel.

Posted by: Zilla at October 16, 2008 7:02 PM

Wow! Kate, that clip is one heck of an endorsement for you, this site, and its readership.

Posted by: MikeM at October 16, 2008 7:48 PM

My guess, Kate is that you don't have sources within the NDP, and you're simply stroking your insecure ego once again via the bombastic, self indulgent bragging that you evidently need to feel good about yourself.

The NDP sewed its defeat in many ways larger than this link you tout. Get over yourself.

Posted by: Barry at October 16, 2008 9:20 PM

Kate kicks another one to the curb

you go grrrrrrrrrl:-)))))

Posted by: GYM at October 16, 2008 9:30 PM

Barry, was your intention, "The NDP has sown defeat in many ways larger than this link you tout." ?
or was there a sewing bee I missed?

Posted by: marc in calgary at October 16, 2008 9:49 PM

I loved watching Calvert bobbing and weaving like a cornered weasel.

Posted by: felis corpulentis at October 16, 2008 10:43 PM

You cost Saskatchewan 800 million dollars a year and you're bragging. You need to seek professional help. You have more right wingers hitting on your blog than there are people in western Canada. What gives? Your blog is fudged with every neo nazi ,If know what that is in the world. What is your agenda?

Posted by: ok4ua at October 17, 2008 12:01 AM

Do actually have a job? You don't look old enough to be retired.I do you find time to post all you fountain of knowledge? I saw our Fehr Brad wall on TV today saying Sask can afforde to give more back to Canada. We already give 800 million a year. What do you do? Just baffle them with your BS? You sound like the paranoid right wingers 60 year ago who wouldn't give Asians the vote or the KKK of you brothers in the states.

Posted by: ok4ua at October 17, 2008 12:09 AM

"It Was Inevitable, Really"

And he said some time ago that he would be resigning.
At least the party won't have to change its name to be relelected.

Posted by: dizzy at October 17, 2008 12:46 AM

You know sometimes ok4u, it IS better to go to bed than to have another drink.

Posted by: rockyt at October 17, 2008 10:15 AM

OK4U is sitting on the inside waiting for his ride on the outside.

As I recall,, didn't they have the 90 - 10 vote tally hardcore typed into the HTML on the page so the tally would never change ?

Posted by: Ratt at October 17, 2008 11:43 AM

As morningstar was told quite some time ago ... OK. We Saskatchewanians were, in the minds of some, taken for $800 million. There. Feel better? Now get over it and run along.

Posted by: biff jr. at October 17, 2008 1:37 PM

um, cal . . . the test wasn't to skew the results, the test was to see if the %ages changed at all. they didn't. the test was therefore a success in that it showed a definite irrefutable result; despite 1000s of 'no' votes the thing didn't budge.

rigged from the start.

regarding 'security fences', best you not go in the dairy cattle business. I have breached dozens of 'security fences' all over the web and other barriers of the physical kind for years. I do it as an intellectual challenge and bragging rights, never for fraud or other such motives.
