The few examples from the Chinse woman above, are trivial. She's against abortion. So? A lot of Canadians are. Are we actually saying that no-one who opposes abortion is allowed to be an MP? She feels the Refugee System has been corrupted to allow just about anyone in; a lot of people, including those with direct links to that system, would agree. Does that mean that anyone who wants to change the Refugee system isn't allowed to be an MP? etc.

Recent polls show that the Liberals are still holding on to 20% of the Canadian vote. If you think about it Lizzie May is 20% right. There are twenty percent of Canadian voters that are stupid. How could anyone in their right mind (Pardon the pun) bring themselves to vote for a party that wants to lead and govern the country when said party after threating an election for two years finds that they can't even formulate much less run an election platform, never mind the fact that they couldn't even get out of the starting blocks when the election was finally called. The rot and corruption that has existed within the Liberal party for decades has been exposed by the internet and the MSM are powerless to continue their cover-ups. The internet is going to put the nails into the coffins of the Liberals and Democrats in the forthcoming elections and we can all assist by spreading the word. The financial meltdown in the US has all the 'earmarks' of "Adscam" behind it. Hopefully a majority government by the CPC in Canada and a resounding victory by the Republicans in America will uncover the guilty and bring them to justice before they can slip away.

Good point. The Liberals shouldn't want to go too far down that road, since quite a few of their own MPs don't tow the party line on this issue.

Two further thoughts; the first one is a bit OT.

1. In answer to Dion's "outrage" over Harper's suggestion that he wants a recession, the Cons should point out that this is an important reason why the Libs were waiting to take down the government. Dion repeatedly said that he would do it when the conditions were right for him (so much for his much-vaunted sincerity and lack of cynicism) -- and most people were rightly interpreting that to mean that he was waiting for the economy to go south. I wish Harper or someone else would remind the media of this.

2. Lesley Hughes is a lesson in where the Libs' longstanding anti-Americanism was destined to take them. There's a lot of talk about why her views weren't known to her party. I'd argue that they *were* known to them; but to so many Libs these views wouldn't have seemed offensive or even awkward since they played to a broader theme that has worked so well for them for so long. Hughes is known around Winnipeg as stridently anti-American to start with. A similar thing happened in the 2006 election, when the "scary Stephen Harper" line, which worked in 2004, led to the stupid "guns in the streets" ads.

It is beginning to look like the voters in ON are going to be faced with an interesting decision - do they vote Conservative (thereby ensuring a majority) or do they vote NDP.

The red liberals are about to be separated from the blue Liberals in ON with the latter joining what is becoming a fast growing element of red Tories. The new color that will control from central Canada will be magenta (mix of red and blue) under the flag of PC.

Far to many in the GTA have made their "living" by supporting the Libs but there is becoming increasingly less to support by going this route as the Libs apparently are going down for the count. It strikes me that they may feel they have a whole lot to lose if the PC comes in with a majority so voters there are also going to be faced with the same dilemma. There will no doubt be a huge shift to the NDP.

After all the perks/money/status etc given to P.Q. over the last two years, it would be hard to fathom many voters there not deciding to go with the PCs. They have always gone for the "high probability" way voting in order to pursue their own agenda and right now they have to be laughing.

By the end of this campaign, surely the politicians themselves will have had enough of their socially engineered Political Correct Society and move on some meaningful changes to the CHRC/CHRT & IRB (the quasi judicials). The time for open discussion on many items that never reach prominence is far overdue. This will only happen when the legal freeze has been thawed by legislative changes.
