Unveils Vancouver Centre Pilot Project.

The real estate listing says that the price for that house is $1,100,000. Maybe the U.S. financial crisis hasn't yet spilled over into an over-inflated Vancouver real estate market.

What, no burning crosses on the front lawn?

Posted by: john at September 26, 2008 7:49 AM

On Davie St. too. How come there's no one in a drug induced stupor laying on the front lawn?

Posted by: ddt at September 26, 2008 8:02 AM

Speaking of crosses burning on lawns, where's Hedy of Fry? Anyone see her with her leader Dion lately?
Is she going to get booted this time?

Posted by: Liz J at September 26, 2008 8:19 AM

That's actually a good price for that property. The Van market is slower but prices have crept up.

Posted by: Fred at September 26, 2008 8:42 AM

"Liberal communities at rusk"??

I thought ALL communities with as Liberal MP were "at risk"....at risk of piracy and larceny.

Posted by: WL Mackenzie Redux at September 26, 2008 8:44 AM

Where's Hedy? Hope she's barefoot and in the kitchen....by choice of course.

Posted by: bluetech at September 26, 2008 8:59 AM

Let's hope she finaly gets her brown envelope.
Anyone heard of Aaron Dillon? He sings the Liberal un-official theme song. Check it out. Sorry but anything Liberal begins and ends with a brown envelope for me.

"liberal communities @ risk"

A spending policy statement that couldn't be more true.

Posted by: the bear at September 26, 2008 9:25 AM

Gag.

I clicked on the Liberals' plan for "communities at risk," and got as far as the first few paragraphs under the heading "Liberals release plan for a richer, fairer, greener Canada." If I had read any more I was going to throw up. A sample:

“Fiscal discipline is now part of the Liberal DNA. We were the party that turned a huge deficit into eight years of surpluses, and we will continue to put fiscal responsibility first."

How can "fiscal discipline" be a part of the Liberal DNA when, for years, wanton fiscal mismanagement meant brown paper envelopes stuffed with cash left in Italian restaurants, Shawinigate and the witch-hunt investigations of individuals who alleged there was fiscal impropriety involved, the octupus of fiscal irresponsibility known as Adscam, $40,000,000 stolen from Canadians and still not accounted for or paid back, etc., etc.?

Fiscal irresponsibility and unaccountability have been the norm for the Librano$. How does "fiscal responsibility" all of a sudden whow up in their DNA, except via magical thinking? Add the irrefutable fact that they are pathological liars (LIEberals), and you've got a party destined for the dust heap--at least if Canadians know what's good for them.

Every community, in every province, is at risk if the Librano$ get back into power. They simply have no idea how to govern; they only know how to wield power and siphon Canadians' hard-earned dollars into their slush funds and social engineering schemes.

NO THANKS.

I guess Stephane is writing his own web site copy now.

Posted by: Stephen at September 26, 2008 10:03 AM

Everyone must read the Grope and Flail. The epitomie of nastiness, the Liberal G + F commentators, are having a collective breakdown. Sweeeeeet!!!

His Nice Vial from Toronto, Canada writes:

Imagine there's no Liberals
It's easy if you try
No socialists in Parliament
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no Liberals
It isn't hard to do
No one to steal your money
And raise your taxes too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world is freed of Liberal scum

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
'Cause it would soon be happening
Under 'da Green Shaft Plan'
Imagine all the people
Living in the street...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world is freed of Liberal scum

And my personal favourite:

diane marie from Canada writes: MJ:-- I have arrived this evening in your fair city (family funeral). I cancelled my subscription to the Globe yesterday - the manufactured dissent, as G. Veneta so accurately states, finally got my goat. The Globe should be ashamed of itself.

Christmas in September!

Posted by: bud at September 26, 2008 10:08 AM

Wow! Liberals are shouting down the media questioners at Dion's Press Conference.

Posted by: bud at September 26, 2008 10:23 AM

Years ago a fortune teller told me she had a vision of a future Toronto. It was terrible. There were large groups of shabby people in front of the closed Star-Globe Newspaper building waving signs that read "Please help. Will write lies about Tories for food."

Posted by: Sgt Lejaune at September 26, 2008 10:49 AM

I take umbrage with the headline.

It should read: Community of Liberals at risk ... of extinction.

Cheers

Canadians Announce "Liberal Party at Risk of Extinction"

Woo Hoo !!

Posted by: Fred at September 26, 2008 11:05 AM

WL Mackenzie, you and I think alike. That's EXACTLY what first came to my mind.

“Ensuring the basic security of its citizens is one of the most important functions of any government,” said Mr. Dion in a speech to the Asper Centre in Winnipeg.

Great. Let's start with young criminals who are free to prey on our citizens due to a toothless justice system.

Posted by: rabbit at September 26, 2008 11:15 AM

I would like to see the liberal gain two seats less than Kim Campbell's showing for the PC's...

Posted by: Warwick at September 26, 2008 11:48 AM

"How come there's no one in a drug induced stupor laying on the front lawn?"

Short of volunteers, they put him to work inside answering the phone.

Posted by: Soccermom at September 26, 2008 12:04 PM

Wow, you were right about the commenters at the Globe, some of them are apoplectic. It is like they cannot fathom the fact that there is anyone in Canada, or anywhere, who could legitimately hold a beliefe different from one they have. They must either be trolls, or Conservative plants, or evil, or stupid, or all of the above.

I mean just the reach and scope of their rhetoric; May with her global catastrophe has nothing on these people.

I will just say it plain. When you call Harper Hitler, then you smear me as a brown shirt also; not likely to make me vote for your guy. When you call Harper inhuman, cold, controlling, you insult all his supporters too; not likely to change our minds with that level of tact. When you froth at the mouth, scream about global apocalypses, and the end of Canada because of neo-cons, well that is just scary, and I start backing out of the room; no way I join the crazy as a sh*t-house rat party.

Just come off it. Admit that we all love Canada, and then try to convince us why your ideas are better. People can be wrong without being evil or dishonest. People can legitimately come to different conclusions when examining the same facts. We are not you enemies, we are you opponents. Enemies destroy each other, opponents bring out the best on both sides.

Posted by: Kevin at September 26, 2008 12:54 PM

Very reasonable proposition, Kevin. I gave up reading comments on at the Globe because they are typically thoughtless. I think the Globe should clean up its act. Noone needs this kind of angry invective. You're right, it does not motivate anyone to change positions. It only serves to widen the distance between points of view. I am concerned that many of these angry and ill-informed bigots will have a truly negative impact on the election, and ultimately a negative impact on the country.

Liberal DNA-dion needs assistance.

Posted by: MaryT at September 26, 2008 2:03 PM

How you can proof Harper is more honest than
DION or general Liberal party or NDP

if you beleive we are not enemy we are two different view for made country better to live

and in up and down in country how to you trust
Harper can stay good as so many people said so many promise and never did it and just execuse to say all problems was not us it is all fault was immigrant as an example

we do not have so many record of in past two years from Mr. Harperand we got to try to know him in pas month as hard as we can so many information is missing and not clear

we need debate and bring media to ask both parties in so many thing to answer

how we can proof they are smart enough and we do not have any more better person still their name was not show up in political party

and how we can made up more name to introduc them to politial pary who have brain to think and honesy to work morally and listen to pain and really good leader that we need it I believe you can say anything you want to say so far I did not convince any of those party did good job and they did bad more than they did good unless each party listen to one group
like Liberal for example listne to rich group or conservaitve listen to mid classand NDP listne to ethinc people sice date is so many and how come one person able in real life aborbe all issue without work in team work and let other who are more specialist to handl the better job

is that my we need team of 3 not one to run the country or so on so many ideas can be come to table

still I do not see what you can say Dion is less honest in compare with Harper I do not think so both have good and bad side effects i do not buy anybody as aboslute bad or absolute good plus people will change and change their promises
if they face better option to made or choose

Posted by: new at September 26, 2008 5:22 PM

Ahh New are you the guy/gal writing Stephane Dion's speeches? It would explain a lot.

Posted by: bubba Brown at September 26, 2008 5:34 PM

A WORD OF WARNING TO ALL PEOPLE WHO VIEW CBC.CA On at least three occaisions, I've had my words removed from "pro-conservative" comments I've left there. FOR EXAMPLE: When S. Harper announced that he would enforce stiffer penalties against juvenille offenders, I simply stated that those [young offenders] who commit murder should get the electric chair as they do in certain parts of the world. The comment was removed. Freedom of speech is "for Liberals only."

Posted by: Realistick at September 26, 2008 5:47 PM

Why is Dion not shoring up support in Ontario (Toronto in particular) ?

Does he just assume that the sheep are already shorn?

Posted by: Zilla at September 26, 2008 6:35 PM

it's hard to believe he would use Liberal Communities instead of Canadians. Citroen and the slitherals are supremacist minded and it shows at every turn.

Yes we we're impressed with the Liberal's best side all the years they were in power.
