"Women's Studies".

That should be "Womyns' Studies" or "Wopersons' Studies."

Posted by: Robert at September 17, 2008 9:58 PM

I was laughing too hard after reading,

"but I know Einstein’s theories and physics has already proven most of the fundamentals of biology to be faulty"

to continue on with it.

No! No! No! No!

Woperdaughters' Studies...er, well, how about

Woperdaughters' Chickies?

Excuse me while I go and hide my penis.

Posted by: Rednik at September 17, 2008 10:19 PM

To be completely gender neutral I believe the term should be "wopersibling's studies". I'm not sure if "studies" is appropriately gender neutral as the "stud" portion has unacceptable masculine dominent connotations. As the term applies to wopersiblings gender neutrality can be dispensed with and we have:
"wopersibling's nymphomanies"

Posted by: loki at September 17, 2008 10:40 PM

Think of the parents wasting their money on their children's university with women's studies considered to be a serious subject. It is so ridiculous, right up there with black studies and all the other completely useless programs. Worse yet is that so-called professors actually get paid to run the circus.

Posted by: Alain at September 17, 2008 10:42 PM

Women's Studies departments at most universities enjoy special protections unknown in the outside world or even in other parts of the university. In the ones I know, the number of students choosing to major in (or even take courses in) "women's studies" is small and decreasing, but the departments offering those courses do not face the same pressures not to replace retired faculty members that would be placed on, say, the history or biology departments.

And while the "Women's Studies" departments seem to call their own tune with respect to criteria for tenure and promotion, insist on a role in university governance far out of proportion to their actual contribution to the life of the university, and command a disproportionate amount of the university's resources, the students who have wandered into their classes come away describing their instructors as arrogant, bitter, and unpleasant women of a certain age who resent a new generation of women who look to education to help them make their way in the real world.

Posted by: Roseberry at September 17, 2008 10:44 PM

Oops, my gender neutrality chip must be faulty. The correct term is:
"Wopersibling's nymphopersiblingies"

This woman is not to be ridiculed or laughed at. She is clearly mentally ill. She is to be pitied. I hope she gets the help she needs, rather than the attention she desires.

The ones who need to wake up are the idiots who gave her a job, grant, position, or anyone who considers her opinions anything more than the ramblings of a sad, deranged individual.

This is what happens when the English Department tosses the canon, takes up the PC/multiculti shroud and New Criticism sword, and begins to think it has relavance beyond the study of literature (which they don't do anymore due to their denial of the canon and orthodox methods of critical inquiry and taking up the PC/multiculti shroud and New Criticism sword -- since they've utterly devalued their own field they have to argue that they have a right to be the critics of other academic fields, hence the "Einstein was a sexist/racist/ist oppressor and the library is a phallic rape symbol" screeds that come screeching out of academia). No, I'm not making that up; you can't; I have actually heard colleagues talk like this (at 4 p.m. on a Friday, the same day 5 hours later that they're three sheets to the wind and trying to seduce another faculty member's spouse, or an undergrad -- take your pick).

Oy.

Signed,
ex English prof (who sadly ran acropper of the shroud and sword by defending the canon and traditional critical inquiry)...and was/is happily and monongamously married, with no taste for undergrads -- the beer and smokes are ok though.

we can start this study by using old idiom
who most of us heard it before:
Men from Mars vs. women from Venus
---
1)the different between men and woman and you can find so many article in internet and books said already

Men are from Mars and women are from Venus

://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_Are_from_Mars,_Women_Are_from_Venus

On the other hand
some group are not belive above statment is true

----
2) study of communication and psychological and beahaviour study of two genders and again you can find so many article

://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communication
://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychologist
----
3) the rules of woman as called it "feminist"
history and today and expectation from rule of woman in politic as mother as scientis in total as human rigth

://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminist
://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_feminism
====
The study of women
there are so many way you can study this subject
from different angels

I give you some of my research already did but you can find so many thing in differen and similarity

some thing is so important
when I spoke 7 out of 10 men I talked before are prefer when the talk is serious in business if other side are men to talk to men and they show tehy are not comfortable talk to women

still in male industry under so many freedom US and Canda are claiming we see this is still is main issue that men are not welcome woman easy in important subjects or like to talk to them indirecly if in the case tehy are 100% sure teh woman is smart enough and has so many infomration still then may consider that

when it come to million dollar busins or politic woman are seen as dolls or play around and joke
and also woman are show their seriousness I saw and witness woman are confuse in order to work with men they must talk too too tough with them
or lie or I saw few woman in my life who are smart woman able to deal in big buiess tehre are not too many

men who have daughter or sister are more respect woman as again this is my experince

if men are not familer with how to deal with woman they will fail in communication becasue there is different between men and woman no doubt about it but that is nto difficult process to push away woman I disagree for men who hate talk with woman or not respect them to work or value their brain able to work as good as men or may better in some cases
again all back of lack of information and misguide and too many slander about woman
men and women both need to learn how to know each other well to be successful person
while peopel think Islam are not value womanthat is not true Muslim woman majority of them are boss of the house and very hard working women

Posted by: new at September 17, 2008 11:42 PM

Without "Women's Studies" how could the bitter ivory tower sheltered feminists earn a living? Who would buy or take their books seriously unless they were specifically mentioned on a courses mandatory booklist?

I guess some could get a part time job writing snarky pieces for the CBC or BBC, but those positions all seem to be full.

Women's Studies programs are nothing more than a lesbian support group with university credits.

The only question I have is: Has a (straight)guy ever taken a course? Are they even allowed to register?

Posted by: Texas Canuck at September 18, 2008 7:49 AM

loki: ""Wopersibling's nymphopersiblingies"

'Glad you finally got it right!!!!

Texas Canuck: "Women's Studies programs are nothing more than a lesbian support group with university credits."

Right on. The only reason these uh, er, women--there, I said it and I mean it--are emboldened to write such utter crap is because they talk only to each other and goad and cheer one another on. They, genuinely, believe that what they're thinking, talking and writing about is legit because they legitimizie each other, ALL THE TIME and don't listen to anyone else or get out much.

I also blame the non-pants-wearing men in academia who simply laid down and said to the radical feminists "mea culpa, it's all our fault, walk all over us and our kids, we don't mind." What utter wimps. They helped to spawn the entitled, not-carrying-their-weight fembo parasites in our universities, colleges, schools, government.

One group which constantly took them on and who weren't/aren't wimps--but have been ridiculed and reviled by the feminazis and shunned by "polite" society--is REAL Women. One man never caught with his pants down was Ted Byfield--also shunned by "polite" company.

REAL Women and Byfield totally had their fingers on this out-of-control pulse but very few were listening. Canada's loss. If we'd listened to them, Women's Studies (sic and sick) might be just a distant memory in academe.

Alas, we're still stuck with it. I'm glad to hear that younger-generation women are seeing through the thin veil. Radical feminism, far from being liberating for women, is a nasty, bitter, smothering quagmire.

'Glad to say my daughters have never bought into this lesbian/manhating/childhating nihilism.

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Posted by: kmn at September 18, 2008 8:29 AM

kmn: What--or to whom--are you talking about?

Posted by: batb at September 18, 2008 9:49 AM

batb:

Sorry, I thought people would get the reference. It was from the movie Billy Madison. It was meant to be a funny response to the linked to post about science being a belief system and relativity theory being gender biased, etc. But if I have to explain it I guess it was only funny to me and I withdraw my comment ;-).

Posted by: kmn at September 18, 2008 10:52 AM

"Woman's Studies" departments are a direct result of abject cowardess of the over-paid and under-talented university administrations.

It does have the result of being a glaring warning to all future employers. I can't imagine how stupid you would have to be to hire a graduate of this non-program.

The other result is that it keeps the frothing lunatics away from more important subjects - like janitorial studies and basket weaving.

Posted by: Warwick at September 18, 2008 10:52 AM

From her rant, may I assume that the author and her students will gladly forego that most logical, non-environmental, back stabbing, phallic construct of traditional, masculine, scientific medicine: the epidural?

Posted by: DrDave at September 18, 2008 11:34 AM

Dr. Dave -- like totally! Those women would never want to have the "burden" that would cause a need for an epidural, and if they were "burdened" they'd want an on demand cesearian, followed by a tummy tuck, and then straight away hiring a full time nanny so they would not be "burdened" anymore.

In all fairness, not every academic is like this, but there is a lot of pressure put on the ones who aren't of the mold, and the very blatant attempts at indoctrination of the students is strident to say the least. I know of a *female* history prof who got mad at an Army reservist *male* in her class and started throwing stuff (and verbal abuse) at him...during a discussion of pacificism (good) and the need for a national military (very evil and, yes, a phallic construct that oppressed, wait for it, women and minorities, oh and the poor). She had tenure, nothing ever came of it.

Smart academics (who have not drank the kool aid) keep their mouths shut -- to speak against these folks is opening oneself up to an assault of harpyesque proportions. Plus, everyone likes to keep their job.

Nice. I really appreciate how in THE SAME DAY SDA can link to a blog post attesting to the primacy of the scientific method, and how it is somehow contrary to the liberal arts, and link to an article the SDAers can rally around to flagrantly deny the science of climate change. Couldn't you at least spread your hypocrisy over a couple of days?

These remarks about Sarah Palin on Sept. 5th from CBC's Heather Mallick is completely mental.
I suspect a "drug problem" with some of our so called journalists these days.

Forain

To point out that the same tenured profs are ruining universities in more than one way is not contradictory.

The "root of the problem" to use a normally abused term is the degradation of academic quality, ethics, standards and accountability.

I guess you missed the point. I don't find myself surprised.

Posted by: Warwick at September 18, 2008 2:09 PM

Forain

they are not scientist to know it
they are artist-business people

change environmental change is important but because is need so many scinece background and funding is not clear for all public yet I suggest few of my ideas there may get helpfull

artist draw tehire feeling and like diff view than scientist

I ask myself how those group of hipi with so many colour purpul in their hair goe and find htejob with too many rign in their mouth and noise later I find the answer in art

I even find teh guy said picture of palin draw by mental ill person I noticed that group has 85 illustration who draw so many picutre

they only use their imiganation and feeling more than reality and facts and knowlege and science

science is for women as some post said is
lesbii that is nonsense

there is importan issue among men and women in North America exist

freedom and men do not like women in top job and top l adder and they scared of them

if you know why the reason becasue of diff between men adn women in too many things

this is scientific study about it and find reason about it

dislike of colour or Obma is ignorant and race and discrimination

dislike of woman while it call discrimination in Canda I call it more relatd to men do not understand woman value and barbarin time

if you look England USA and Asiad are same culture

in Europe try to say they are more moden in woman and freedom in fac they only tak off cloth of women out of their body in Denmake women show it

in most difficult courst even women are not there in univeristy

in most of engineeering cours 3 out of 30 are women you only find woman in biology and pharmacykind of course or economic

when it tlak majort decisio maker all woman stand in behind one old men to talk

freedom of women is only nonsense in Canda
in fact we can see discrimination more here

artist are not patient to knwo result of research done in most of case because thier feeling more than their logic is to find solution

kmn: I didn't get the movie reference but I still enjoyed it, so no need to withdraw it.

As a university-educated professional woman, I am profoundly depressed by this lunatic's ravings, mainly because I fear that some people will take her seriously and think other women share her idiotic beliefs.

liberal arts you say, try out rite stupidity

and forain, science is more about questions than it is about answers, so, why would one not question the "climate change" science, which by the way is not about climate change at all. It has drawn a questionable conclusion based on a flawed "study" about energy fluctuations. Once people like you educate yourself to what a proper study would consist of, you would "see" the flaws in the present one.

Although an opponent of Women's Studies, Camille Paglia had an interesting take on Sarah Palin in her bi-monthly column in Salon. It inspired me to write this:

Posted by: rick mcginnis at September 18, 2008 10:29 PM

deBeauxOs (isn't there a spelling mistake here? Shouldn't it be BOZOS?): I don't think so.

You know things have got really out of hand when a decent, hard-working, successful, intelligent, street-smart, female politician who, yes, happens to be a woman of faith and goes to church, is demonized beyond recognition.

Any resemblance of Sarah Palin to the Alien Queen is purely in the eyes of the beholder. You might need new glasses.

Feminism is a construct.

Deconstructionist philosophy is a construct.

Cutting off a penis, turning it inside out and administering enough estrogen to make the patient look like his sister is a construct.

Look around you...everything you see, other than the woods is a construct, and a patriarchal one at that. So if you don't like living in a patriarchal construct then go live in the woods you ungratefull bunch of squatters. There you can construct something that is more to your liking instead of "taking ownership" of a nest constructed by other birds like the cucoos you are.

If a termite could talk, a termite could honestly say it was a "deconstructionist". That would not get the termite deemed to be "collegial" enough to get tenure at a university...that would get the termite sprayed with pesticide.
