This week he told Quebec City's Le Soleil daily newspaper that, "maybe we should have done it because 17 years later, it's still the same."
Nothing about this in the news broadcasts, though blanket coverage of Sparrow's remarks. Huh?

What Was Feminism?
The media treatment of Sarah Palin reveals four ugly truths about the new feminism.
By Victor Davis Hanson
The media went hysterical over Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska and Republican nominee for vice president. She may have appeared to the public as an independent, capable professional woman, but to a particular elite she couldn’t possibly be a real feminist or even a serious candidate. And that raises questions about what is — and what is not — feminism.
Feminism grew out of the 1960s to address sexual inequality. At an early age, I was mentored on most feminist arguments by my late mother. She graduated from Stanford Law School in the 1940s but then was offered only a single job as a legal secretary. Instead, she went back home to raise three children with my father, a teacher and farmer, and only returned to legal work in her 40s. She was eventually named a California superior court judge and, later, a state appellate court justice. More at:

THE IRANIAN revolution is frequently recalled as a cautionary tale for the West as Americans, Israelis and Europeans continue to view unpopular, yet ostensibly pro-Western Arab autocracies as stable. Such warnings have been uttered with increasing frequency in recent years in regards to Egypt, whose pro-Western dictator Hosni Mubarak now enters the twilight of his reign...
Sally Satel, M.D., Addiction Does Not Discriminate? Wrong
The democratization of addiction may be an appealing message, but it does not reflect reality. Teenagers with drug problems are not like those who never develop them. Adults whose problems persist for decades manifest different traits from those who get clean.
So while anyone can theoretically become an addict, it is more likely the fate of some--among them women sexually abused as children, truant and aggressive young men, children of addicts, people with diagnosed depression and bipolar illness, and groups including American Indians and the poor...

“The opinions of men are not the object of civil government, nor under its jurisdiction.” And yet civil government is ordered by, and derives its legitimacy from, the opinions of the citizenry. Precisely here do we discover the novelty of the American experiment, the unique contribution of what the Founders called this novus ordo seclorum, a new order for the ages. Never before in human history had any government denied itself jurisdiction, whether limited or total, over that on which it entirely depends, the opinion of its people...
Here's a wonderful thoughtful 5 part video, Andrew Klavan's interview at NRO:
Andrew Klavan says the Left has long argued that Western civilization — from its embrace of capitalism to its foundations in Judeo-Christian doctrine to its traditions of personal liberty — is in error and needs to go. But Klavan says “that argument has failed spectacularly, in every way,” and that when you do not relinquish a failed argument all you have left is insult and ridicule.

But in rare places it may happen to have the much smaller value that it has where we are. And—it can be argued convincingly—only in those rare places can there be life. Bill Levinson, “Veni, Vidi, Deus Vicit:” Jan Sobieski Day, September 12
On this date in 1683, Central Europe was on the edge of conquest by an Islamic supremacist army. Turkish miners had already undermined at least one bastion of Vienna’s fortress, and only a heroic response by defenders who actually extinguished an explosive charge’s fuze prevented a fatal breach in the defenses. Within days if not hours, militant and expansionist Islam would hold sway over the heart of Europe. That was when the Polish Army showed up, and King Jan Sobieski III was in command...

This means harper and Layton were right to object to her being in the debates.
We need to keep this story going.
We also need to put Robert Thibeault's statement re making a snide reference to Harper being a pig saying , "put a sweater on a pig, its still a pig".
The story about Sparrow is blown out of proportion. The father of that soldier killed in Afghanistan is a staunch Liberal and refers to Dion as his leader and a favourite of the news media because he's not pleased with Harper's statement about the end date.
There have been almost 100 of our troops killed in that place, why is this one so political? Who started it?
Such desperation among the Opposition, they're close to self destruction trying to destroy Harper who's now at 41% and leading across the country.

And, I'd add, among their MSM attack dogs.
I've never seen such a pile-on in my life. I watched a lot of TV yesterday and couldn't believe how the MSM turned the focus of this election campaign purely on the so-called "gaffes" of the CPC campaign and then blamed the CPC for it. They whined, "If these gaffes hadn't happened, we wouldn't have to be reporting them," as they blew them out of all proportion and repeatedly replayed them--just in case any of their viewers missed them.
No similar treatment of the equal number of gaffes on the Liberals' and the Greens' part because they're their team: "Go, guys, go! We'll give you cover."
I'm disgusted by the sheer pettiness and mean-spiritedness of the MSM. They're not doing their job; they’re being totally unprofessional. They're singling out one political party for annihilation, if they can manage it, while they coddle their chosen parties and swath them in cotton batten. 'Only problem for them is, I don't think it's going to work. 'They turn PM Stephen Harper into the undisputed underdog in this race and the whole thing's going to blow up in their faces.
'Same thing's happening with Sarah Palin in the States and I think the public is getting wise to what's going on. It’s been proven that she did not ban books in Wasilla. Here’s the link (snopes says it’s false too):
