Stephane Dion English To English Dictionary

And we enter what is certain to be Youtube's best election season ever!

I love being the underdog. I love being underestimated, but don't say so, because then I will stop being underestimated."

[...]

"Leadership to avoid challenges, and to put us on a risky road of the challenges of the competitiveness of the economy, of climate change, of the fact that you have poverty in this country -- and the current leadership is doing nothing," he said. "Or leadership to tackle these issues with Canadians and to win together."

The Liberal Green Shift, (carbon tax), info says it will benefit businesses. Wonder if it has been of benefit Jennifer Wright's business? They're going arrogantly ahead and using her copyright so it proves Liberals can steam roll over anyone they choose and the law can go to hell.

RE:..... Dion said a Liberal government would make Canada "richer, fairer and greener."

What he really should say is that a Liberal government would make Liberals and their friends 'richer, fairer, and greener'.

That is the Liberal way after all.

If the Libs get back in power, just watch them make up for lost time. The Gomery Inquiry will just be a small speedbump in their rear view mirrors as they race forward with yet more schemes to fleece the Canadian taxpayers.

If I was a worker in an Ontario or Quebec plant, I'd be worried. Increase the costs of energy and it drives prices up along the entire supply line. All production costs will go up and make factories uncompetitive.

The Chines must be praying we will commit Green Shaft suicide.

Well idiot, you just said it and don't worry we won't underestimate you. We know you are loser and an elitist twit. You can't fool anyone but yourself. You will succeed in meeting the lowest of our expectations as you have so far.

And regarding the loss of jobs in Ontario and Quebec ... don't worry, the money stolen from Alberta in the 'Grand Shaft' will be funneled to Ontario in the form of subsidies and exemptions from the tax.

It will be Christmas in the East and Festivus for the West-of-us.

He said go to GreenShift.ca to learn more about his plan....except that the url he gave is in fact Jennifer Wright's company website url.

I'm sure Wright will not be too happy about this latest development.

I remember when ' da proof is da proof' was the most incoherent thing we heard from a liberal leader, but that is pure clarity in comparison.

Re Dion's greenshift .ca flub,

Imagine being Dion's lawyer, trying to convince the other side that they've got a weak case, that there's no real prospect of confusion ect,

and Dion himself gets the two confused, in front of the national press corp no less.

That's just way too funny.

In rural southwestern Ontario, I will be voting Conservative again. Canada deserves a leader that can be counted on to make the right decisions for this country. Harper has proven to Canadian voters that his government was the right choice last time and will be this time.

Posted by: femaleCONvoter at September 7, 2008 4:34 PM

Not to be mean, but from what Liberal "leader" Stephane Dion said, as quoted in this post, I cannot help but wonder whether he might have some kind of mental disorder...

You know, the "English-as-second-language" thing could be a cover for some kind of mental disorder on Mr. Dion's part. Of course, it wouldn't be his fault, but... what if...

You know, he's had years and years and years and can afford to take serious, aggressive English lessons, as did Preston Manning and Stockwell Day did with the French language, but, apparently, M. Dion hasn't really bothered, or is it that perhaps it's not his grasp of language?

Either way...

Not worth the risk.

Besides, we know very well what Liberal promises with respect to tax hikes/cuts are worth.

After all, they DID once promise to "scrap/kill/abolish" the GST, but they didn't. In fact, it took a Conservative minority government to cut it by two percentage points...

The safest assumption is that a Liberal government would hike taxes by fifteen billion dollars on energy-consumption (and, by extension, put upward pressure on the price of everything) and wouldn't implement compensatory cuts to other taxes, likely coming up with an excuse, such as "Well, we're in a recession, so we can't cut any taxes... shut up and pay more to heat your house and to eat!"

And then the Liberals would take our money and use it to impose massive new oppressive social programs to foster dependence and create a new pool of dependent Liberal voters for the future...

Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at September 7, 2008 4:44 PM

Probably not the time or place to say it, but as the number of francophones plummets in both percentage and real numbers in this country bilingualism becomes increasingly illogical - and unfair. We are a nation of immigrants; it's tough enough for an immigrant to learn one new language, let alone the two required to get a government job.

Indeed, Canada's bilingualism policy, a 20th century relic, is anti-immigrant, a point I suspect immigrants will become more vocal about in the very near future.

Also, with less than 2% of the population and allegiance to your own ummah, caliphate and shariah first, who cares what Muslims think.

The Liberals have a long and sordid record of mismanagement, corruption and outright stupidity. Their leader has proven time after time that he is an elitist, moronic, ineffectual twit. Their greenshift idea brings new meaning to the word "outrageous". This thing should be an absolute cakewalk for PMSH and the Conservatives. Yet most predict another minority government. What the hell is wrong with Canadians? At least Saskatchewanians do their part to keep the thieves in opposition ... with the notable exception of Ralph Goodale. Hopefully we can rectify that oversight this time around.

English as Second language

reading is fine for immigrants few words westers Or Oxford dictionary quickly can resolve the problmes

speaking english is ok too some times for presentation you only need to prepare more and focus it is understandable

listening is ok close to 100% for Candian or AMerican CNN English accent

But if it goes to English born or Australian or Newzealand or Americna from country music or Canadian from Irish NewBrownswick or Black music or accent we have problems of understand them espcially when they use Idiom is become tough we only guess what they are tlaking about but not 100%

for writing is hard unless more concentrate and slow down or spell check that can help still most people has hard time to write then read

for comperhansion and understand all logic or write the esssay again mateials data and fact is ok but for major parts need to give to some to proof read if you want to get A + mark in university

it depend of kind of job you can work with you but not speak with you and most people are shy to tell you or correct your English when you are in more science degree and engineering you face more formula than English

when Dion talks I do not undertand him well
I had problmes with Chratian as well

when Harper talk I understand him 100% but he does not talk so much this Harper guy
when you have nothing to proud of not rich or not too smart or not know real direction it is better to less talk

people who born in Canada can not understand easy immigrant and if they have bad writing they think they are not smart or underestimate them

small percentage of population are minirity or can be say Muslim but it does not mean to cut our right which is differnt than you
the person can be differtn but can be smart too

"On sunday, during the 5PM EST broadcast of "MIke Duffy Live" on CTV Newsnet, Liberal Party of Canada Spokesperson Sheila Copps urged listeners to go the "greenshift.ca" NOT the proper website for the liberal program, "thegreenshift.ca"

If the official spokesperson for the Liberal Party of Canada, on the date the election is called, cannot get the official name of the website correct, then Green Shift Inc. seems to have legitimate grounds for an injunction."

Posted by: cal2 at September 7, 2008 6:58 PM

legacy moralist - I certainly agree with you about Canada's bilingual policy, which is an elitist policy geared to enabling the devt of an oligarchic rather than democratic government in Canada.

The oligarchy is that Set of people, a Set that becomes closed and incestuous, who live in the Ottawa-Montreal corridor. They are both bilingual and exclusionary. They run the govt. Remember, that the majority of Canada's govt is via appointments rather than elections. The civil service, the judiciary, the heads of funding agencies, on and on and on - they are all appointed; they are all part of this isolate Set.

This effectively excludes 80% of Canada's population from any serious role in the governance of their own country. After all, what ten year old kid in Saskatchewan is going to have the desire or opportunity to become bilingual? The only way to do that is to hear it, daily, to use it, daily. On the street, in the store. That doesn't happen. By the time that child is 30 and wants to go into govt - it's too late.

We've set up Canada's governance as an oligarchy. The party behind this - is the Liberal Party, the party of appointees, Big Govt, centralism..with all decisions made and controlled by that cabal in Ottawa.

maybe the actual owners of the Green Shift will get a court order in the next week or so for a cease and desist on using the slogan . The lieberals would have to pull the signs and put up new ones with a new slogan, I suggest

"Dat his nod fair" - leader Borat Dion. then a picture of sheep eating green grass, with little dollar bills dropping out of their derrieres and liberals sweeping them into a pile and transferring them to quebec.

"that’s not me,” Dion said."
Watch/listen as Citoyen melts down, down, down.
...-

"Dion also pleaded with Canadians to ignore the negative ads directed at him."

"“Stephen Harper has spent millions of dollars in attack ads, he will spend millions more to distort reality and attack my character. It’s a complete fabrication, that’s not me,” Dion said."

"“Jack Layton, for some reason, he thinks he’s Barack Obama,” Dion chided. “No, you are Jack Layton.”

The Liberal leader went on to say that a vote for the NDP will only help Harper stay in power. He urged those on the left to vote Liberal."

I live in the boonies (Nanoose Bay Van Isl) no public transit close by, 25 mins to work in Nanaimo, heating oil heats my house. Petro Can and Columbia Fuels charge the same price per litre, $1.35/ltr today, my oil tank holds 1200 litres. I can't afford a Federal Librano$ carbon tax on top of the provincial one.

Now when I go to the CTV.ca site and draw up the interview of Lloyd Robertson interview with Stephane Dion mysteriously Dion's remark that "Nobel Prizes are supporting it" has disappeared.
http://watch.ctv.ca/news/ctvs-question-period/sept-7-2008/#clip90475
Can anyone explain how something like this could vanish in thin air.
Did the CTV.ca site deliberately tamper and manipulate the interview of Robertson and Dion on the site to have this particular gaffe ("Nobel Prizes are supporting it") removed?
How can we get a transcript of the original Sunday morning interview that has not been doctored?

Orville, write to CTV to tell them that you distinctly heard what you heard and ask them why the remark about the Nobel Prizes has disappeared from their Web site.

If you get an unsatisfactory answer, you can tell them that you plan to take them to the Ontario Press Council, which adjudicates viewer/reader-media outlet disputes--usually in favour of the MSM, but at least your complaint is on record and the media outlet has to explain themselves.

Orville, I had recorded that segment. Just played it back now, and this is what I heard:

"...Most economists, including Nobel Prizes, are supporting it..."

It's funny but after a while, the human mind evidently makes allowances for Dion's grammatical errors and translates it into something that makes sense.

I didn't even pick that up the first time around. I'll have to sharpen my listening skills. ;)
