It's not that this could perhaps be passed off as a sluip of the tongue, it's that he didn't realise he had made a slip of teh tongue. Perhaps his notes really did say 57.

Oh, wait a minute, has he visited those ten Canadian states?

We are going to call this bloke Oklabama or Baclahoma?

Unbelievable. When are we going to see "dumb Obama" jokes hit the mainstream like the "dumb Bush" jokes?

He was enumerating in octal - a cheap Messiah parlour trick.

Posted by: Shaken at August 22, 2008 8:13 PM

Come on it was those other states that he's really liked in, you know Germany, France...

That has to be doctored -- he can't be that dumb. 57 plus Alaska and Hawaii? 59 total. Even adding Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, there are still a few spots to fill up. And his staff would not let him go to Alaska or Hawaii? Probably afeared of hostile natives or something. Those nasty Hawaiians killed James Cook, and there are probably still Russians in Alaska.

How many think he has overplayed his VP choice announcement. Media covering all potential candidates. Even some anchors has asked, is he overplaying this. My answer YES. Now it comes out that Hillory was never considered and never vetted as per Pelosi. Can't have two women in high places. My prediction, the Clintos will spring some negatives to make sure O does not win.
What if all those text messages get sent and no one pays attention except the media.

Excellent example of the double standard; this would be whipped into a legendary blunder if he'd been a Republican.

This guy must have used the same history books in college as the past PM of Canada that told us the Canadian troops stormed ashore on D-Day on the beaches of Norway.

antenor

that would be PM Paul Martin. the pure laine product of Windsor Ontario. as big a fake as could ever be , his only accomplishment being skidding the the little crook from Shawinigan.

I saw this awhile ago.It was a fatigue/slip/meant 47 or something...

However, if it was McCain 'slipping' the media would have been merciless. The fact that some did not see this 'til now is evidence.

that would be this Paul Martin.

On December 12, 2003 Martin became the Prime Minister of Canada. On January 28, 2004 the federal government, in response to opposition party and media enquiries, revealed that CSL Group Inc. had received $162 million in federal government contracts, grants and loans since Paul Martin became Minister of Finance in 1993. Earlier figures released in 2003 had suggested CSL Group Inc. had only earned $137,000 during this time period.

Throughout the 1990s, CSL Group Inc. oversaw the reflagging of several former Canadian-registered vessels which were placed under the shipping registries of nations commonly referred to as flags of convenience, where safety and labour laws were relaxed to be more business-friendly. This was often criticized by Martin's political opponents
