If linking McCain to big oil doesn't work out ,they can always start up a site that links him to white supremacists. I mean, think about it.McCain married a white woman and Obama married an African American. Obviously McCain is a racist that hates blacks.
Posted by: wallyj at August 8, 2008 1:39 AMThe "Big Oil" situation reminds me so much of the book "Dune" by Frank Herbert. In the book an entire galaxy was addicted to a drug known as "the spice". Today we depend on oil for everything we do, use or hold. If the Chinese, in a future day, placed an oil embargo on North American oil imports there would be starvation. (Don't think this could happen? Read the Sidewinder Report). NA oil production is now a strategic requirement. The next President had better pull out all the stops. And He had better make an agreement with Canada for an all North American oil market. This is also in Canada's best interest, for whence the US goes, so do we.

Exxon formally replaced the Esso, Enco, and Humble brands on January 1, 1973, in the USA. The name Esso, pronounced S-O, was a trademark of Standard Oil Company of New Jersey and attracted protests from other Standard Oil spinoffs because of its similarity to the name of the parent company, Standard Oil. As a result, the company was restricted from using Esso in the USA except in those states awarded to it in the 1911 Standard Oil antitrust settlement.

On the Run is the flagship convenience store brand used by ExxonMobil at Exxon and Mobil stations in the United States, while the chain is used at Esso and Mobil stations internationally. The name "On the Run" is used, untranslated, around the world, except in the Canadian province of Quebec, where opposition from its French population and Quebec government--which has made the free and unrestricted use of the English language illegal by law--has forced Exxon's local subsidiary to retain the Marché Express brand.

Exxon: 'We want to be part of solution'

From Wesley Loy in Juneau –
After Friday's huge Senate vote sewing up the natural gas pipeline license for TransCanada Corp., I e-mailed Exxon Mobil Corp. for a comment but never heard back.
Today, I received this from Exxon's Houston spokeswoman, Margaret Ross:
==================--
"ExxonMobil is committed to the timely development of Alaska’s North Slope gas resources and we want to be part of the solution. Since the introduction of AGIA, we have actively participated in the administrative and legislative review process by providing testimony and engaging in the public comment process.
"Point Thomson (Unit) gas is essential for a successful gas pipeline project. The current owners are the only producers that could commit PTU gas to either the TransCanada or Denali pipeline on their proposed schedules.

Shares of Wendy's (WEN) closed down 3.7% at $38.26 Monday after the company cut its full-year earnings forecast and currently sit at $37. Wendy's also said for the third time since April that it is considering a sale.
Ackman was instrumental in pushing Wendy's to spin-off its Canadian Tim Horton (THI), which was completed in Sept. 2006. Given the popularity of the Tim Horton's coffee and the overwhelming success McDonald's (MCD) has had with it's premium coffee offering, one has to wonder how much better off Wendy's would be if it was serving the coffee in its stores, and at its drive-thru's. One thing is for sure, it would not be any worse, AND it would be driving traffic to its stores for the coffee.

Posted by: new at August 8, 2008 2:37 AMExxon is a publicly traded company. Who owns Exxon? Anyone with shares.
“Population-145,000 employees.
Who Rules-Day-to-day policy decisions are made by officers who are elected by a 16-member all-male board of directors that includes 10 officers. The directors are elected by 722,549 stockholders owning 223,867,276 shares”.
Only the fools and socialist nobodies would scream about windfall taxes and capping “Big Oil” profits. What they really mean is a redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the poor non working class. The very rich will never suffer, their money moves from industry to industry and country to country.
It seems unnaturally stupid to think that flogging a publicly owned company that employs hundreds of thousands of people with millions more benefiting from spin-offs is a sane policy to pursue.
Better I think to cap the HRC industry that goes after the poor and cut the wages of these overpaid bureaucratic gestapo that drain a countries wealth for example.
Right on Knight 99! Well put. I'm shocked at seeing Commie, anti-business posts on SDA.
Posted by: Sea Salt at August 8, 2008 9:29 AMAny big business organization hedges it's bets by donating to both sides in a political campaign, and if one side becomes a clear leader, they'll tip the scales a bit and increase their donations to the apparent winner.
Good business. Why political campaign managers bother reporting this stuff can only be because they know they 're playing to the terminally stupid, those on each side of the political spectrum who believe their candidate is squeaky clean.
It's politics, folks.

TONIGHT ON THE GLENN BECK TV SHOW THE ENTIRE HOUR IS GOING TO BE DEDICATED TO THE CEO OF SHELL OIL WHO IS STEPPING DOWN. HE PROMISED GLEN HE HAS SHARPEN HIS TONGUE AND WILL SPILL THE BEANS BIG TIME TONIGHT. TOPIC: WHY IS THE US IN THIS CURRENT ENERGY CRISIS?
I SUSPECT THE DEMOCRATS (NANCY PELOSI AND OTHERS) AND THE ENVIRONMENT MOVEMENT ARE GOING TO GET AN EAR FULL!
Hail good Knight 99 ... too bad the lefties are incapable of following a thought with another one.... But I guess that's what makes them so special!
Obama is a socialist fool and a race baiting liberal flunky.
He is doing the Shuck and the Jive for each of his audiences.
Posted by: OMMAG at August 8, 2008 1:13 PMwhen the socialists win all the lefties can live in misery along with those of us who will stop working to keep the state alive.
Posted by: old white guy at August 8, 2008 2:16 PMI happened to be home today so I was watching a business channel and was a bit surprised to note that although Exxon et al are making billions, the sad fact is that they made less than an 8% return while a pharmisutical or electronics stock brings in a rate almost twice as much. Kind of like promising 30 million dollars to be given out to Canadians in some silly socialist program. It sounds like a lot until you realize that each "stockholder" will only get a buck.
btw Price of gas in Nova Scotia hasn't dropped in the last two weeks even though the price of crude has gone down a whole bunch.
btw(2) anyone wanting to share in Big Oil windfalls just has to buy a share in the stock.

Only the fools and socialist nobodies would scream about windfall taxes and capping “Big Oil” profits. What they really mean is a redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the poor non working class.
Let me correct that last sentence:
What they really mean is the theft of wealth from the middle class to the bureaucrats.
They said that $117 per barrel was the tipping point for computer selling and guess what? Oil hit the $117 and finished at $115.20 US. Wholesale price of gas is down 12 cents on the day, and the retail price has gone down for 23 consecutive days. Any guess on where we will be on monday?

Quite true.
I suppose the bottom line is a socialist campaign to enslave the middle class, capping their ability to move past a “comfortable working existence”. Idealistic dreams of the slave masters as they enrich themselves, all the while providing their limited consciences with thoughts of salvation as they save the poor of the world on our dime.
Hence the US Democratic Party calls for nationalizing “Big Oil”. Yes comrade we will all benefit to be sure.
Who can tell Capitalism to stop right there
we do not like you to grow and get more profit any more as they get profi we loose more money
and do not move forward
may sound stupid but let see the reality of
if Komonist in RUSSIA was bad
so as Capitlaisim in USA is bas sysmtem
both are never happy and both are made rest of world unhappy for their stupid sysme of make money
as good to see some grow and ease for people but I do not trust big company are look for really
madk our life easier and cheora burthey also they try to get rid of small then they foce us to pay them more money as we force to pay them more gas price is only a game they are playing and we are dancing with it do not fool any more
what I mean as billionar and billonar companies
with too many share like Wal-mart and Exxone
are growing fast
some my benefit share holder or stock holder
on Ohter hand those big jiant company will and didi and would smash and eat like big shark
small tiny fishes
as we can see how big company liek wal-mart destroy all small
in result as we feed teh shark and look
like we must be happey but mouth of those billinoar
are not look for feed us but also eat us at the end
when no body left to compete
then we msut go to wal-mart and buy all thing
expensive from Wal-mart because there is not mor small left to give us cheaper price
waht the presure of oil price is only play game of
exxaon and big shell company they have few left and tehy will pressure regualar citizne to pay tem more to made them more billion
and if we do not pay them more penny increae in oil gas price higer tehy wil not let us
to drive the car
this is like theft in old 17 century standing in the road and ask to
stop right there adn give them what we have to let us pass that road
the capaltisim is come to stage
must stop
as US when not able to grow come to neightbora nd try to bother ormad up story of war to made us pay attention and pay them more money
to their story
and at the end of game we ara loose and they are winner
becaued those millinoar try to made us look
loose and they look winner
threfore we need some regulation to stop certain company of turturing rgular people to pay them more money as we get poor they get richer
as we can see in past 100 years all rich are richer and all poor are pooer than before
we only stock to their game
thos big jiant company like to increase and if not able to creat some thing new they will steal our money indirclty of all those poliic of war
incarea price or tax bills and etc..
we must now find the way to tell capitalism
STOP right there we are not paying you any more money taht is pay back time to us now
even law is made by them for them to support them becom biger and we get smaller in our money in our pocket
