Down The Memory Hole

is there nothing that Obama can't do?

The stunning comments from Democrat Sen. Barack Obama that the United States needs a “civilian national security force” that would be as powerful, strong and well-funded as the half-trillion dollar United States Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force have mysteriously disappeared from published transcripts of the speech.

In the comments, Obama confirmed the U.S. “cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set.”

So the trip to Germany is just a fact-finding tour!

There's more. Or to be technically accurate, there isn't.

His state legislative office records may have been thrown out, he told us.

He's never released a specific list of law clients, instead giving a list of all of his firm's clients, numbering several hundred each year. His campaign will only confirm representation when the media comes to them with a specific case.

He won't release his application to the state bar. He's never released any legal or billing records to verify that he only did a few hours of work for a nonprofit tied to Tony Rezko.

He's never released any medical records, just a one-page letter from his doctor.

I have some name suggestions for Obama's new parallel militia ... How about mmmm let's see .. The SS? no wait ... uh ... the Gestapo! .... ya that's it ... and Michelle can design their new chocolate colored uniforms and nice knee high black boots.

Ya ... that outta do it!

I say again, someone demonstrating such a lack of skeletal principles is available to the highest bidder. Are the media apostles too stupid to realize this, and what it means?

People, please leave Obama alone please.
Obama is good. USA needs a black president.

McCain is way toooo old.

I really hope Obama wins if only because right wingers will be mad for 8 years.

Kerry! Kerry!

Politicians - they all look alike to me.

“civilian national security force”

Can anyone say martial law?

Posted by: Always On Watch at July 18, 2008 1:28 AM

How do you know Obama is good? He changes daily. Good yesterday? Or good today? On what basis do you claim America needs a Black President? Is this not a racist thing to say? How many black presidents does America need? One? Two? Three? One, then skip two, then two in a row, then skip two? Then a mixed?

We are supposed to ignore race. Aren't we? I should have bought a program on the way through the gates...

Posted by: Shaken at July 18, 2008 1:29 AM

Wait, wait, this just in...

"All Black People Are Good".

Whew! I feel much better now.

Posted by: Shaken at July 18, 2008 1:31 AM

In fairness, I don't see why he should release his medical records. All citizens deserve some privacy, including presidents. A one page letter from a doctor should be enough.

He's made a lot of gaffes lately and it's showing in the polls. His lack of humility is a huge liability.

Actually , the last person to try to have a parallel para military force, large enough to supplant the nations standing army, Was a certain Stabschef Ernst Röhm. He led an organization of between three and four million SA men, a quarter of whom were armed, and many of whom were veterans of the street wars between themselves and the various red front organizations.

Stabschef Röhm felt that the SA would constitute the new standing army of a truly socialist Germany under Nazi leadership, until he was derailed by the army high command and various interests within the party itself. In the end, Röhm was murdered, and the SS under Heinrich Himmler became the defacto guardians of the Nazi state. The SA became a virtual old boys club, who marched and sang songs when not drinking copious amounts of beer.

Never again, after the night of the long knives would the SA hold power of any import, so that by wars end, they were relegated to the primary trainers of men destined for the Wehrmacht, and eventually as fodder for the guns themselves.

AQS:

"I really hope Obama wins if only because right wingers will be mad for 8 years."

Nice raison d'etre for selecting who will be the next most powerful man on earth.

But then you want to create your own country because it 'feels good' even though it would mean catastrophic economic ruin for you and your fellow Quebecers.

As for McCain being too old his age - Abe lincoln was 16 years older than the average lifespan in 1865 when he was assassinated while John McCain is approximately 12 years younger than the average. And his mother is very much alive and kicking at age 96. (She recently bought and drove a car around France)

Maybe you should get with the times and adjust your perpective on what it is to be old in today's world.

Talk About Dumb 101
Obama is flying with all three news Anchors on the same plane, interesting target ... Hillary is not going & Bill will stay to hold poor little Michelle's hand...Jessie J may have his hoodie on. Who can Obama Trust?

The S.A. were Germany's regular army when Hitler forced control of the German government after he had been elected.
Hitler then made his own defense force which he alone controlled named the SS.
Hitler was loathed by the regular German army and he had to kill off some and discredit many others of the highly respected and admired Generals to gain control of the entire German state by controlling the SA.
Sda World that is when Hitler's NAZI party and not "the German state" took to the "Holocaust" which included the intention of disposing of the worlds Jewish population.
Hitler was a racist I have to worry for those Obama doesn't like very well if he is ever elected
without "an accident" occurring to him first?

Well, McCain's new ad is trying to plug that memory hole.

"civilian national security force"

They already have an all-volunteer citizen army. And if that is inconvenient internally due to Posse Comitatus, they have a National Guard. And if that is too militaristic, they have the FBI. And if that is too federalist, each State has its own State Troopers.

Obama is starting to worry me. First I thought he was just an ultra-left wing-nut. Then I thought that he was just making up policy on the fly. Then I thought he was just a popululist telling the people whatever they wanted to hear. But now I'm starting to think that the combination of inexperience and hard-left policies might set him up to be a tyrant.

Every man and woman who has Concealed Carry Permit
IS the civilian security Force.

Every person who owns a firearm in the US IS the civilian security force.

FIRE.

HIM.

ON THE 5th.

People, please leave "atheist quebecois separatiste" alone please.

"Atheist quebecois separatiste" is good. Canada needs an atheist quebecois separatiste.

Most Québec separatists are way toooo old and crackpot.*

I really hope Jean Charest and the Liberals retain power in Québec if only because all the cranky hardline separatists will be mad for umpteen more years.

* As their latest dopey and indignant outburst against Sir Paul McCartney's upcoming concert on the Plains of Abraham clearly demonstrates.

Posted by: JJM at July 18, 2008 7:48 AM

Let's start with Obama's failure to even provide a birth certificate to prove that he's eligible to be hegemon. McCain took legal advice that his birth in the Panama Canal Zone satisfies the constitutional requirements; Obama airily dismisses them with the claim that he was born "in Hawaii." So prove it.

It's all part and parcel of Obama's supreme arrogance, messianic delusions and feelings of entitlement to the presidency, despite whatever the stupid little people called "voters" might think.

Funny how the media treats people differently depending on which party they're running for...

How do the media sleep at night?

Posted by: Warwick at July 18, 2008 9:50 AM

In regards to Obama. After the analysis, pundit posturing, and all other blather is done and over with, it basically comes down to one thing for the American electorate.

Becareful for what you wish for.

Posted by: GaryinWpg at July 18, 2008 9:58 AM

I suppose that civilian army will be green shirts who probe every part of your life to see that you are saving energy and make sure you don't have too many kids.

As for the separatists, please don't wish more years of Charest on us. The only thing saving him are all those Hydro profits despite the ridiculously low prices they are forced to set in Quebec (talk about being environmentally stupid as this encourages waste and more and more people switching to electricity).

Posted by: Nicola Timmerman at July 18, 2008 10:19 AM

Yes, and this civilian security force needs a uniform. Brown shirts are a good start.

Posted by: Woodporter at July 18, 2008 10:34 AM

Canada already has a civilian force that is everyone's face all the time and it operates at all levels. And you don't mess with them. You be polite and obedient at all times.

It's called the Canadian revenue service.

He is just frightening, but he knows that he has the press in his pocket, bankably in his pocket. He doesn't even worry about getting asked a tough question. He knows it is all but impossible.

Posted by: Tim in Vermont at July 18, 2008 11:42 AM

now that McCain is being lampooned for his "Viagra moment", what did obama answer to the same question?

CNN?

Daily Report?

it's a shame the charismatic get a pass.

Posted by: puddin and pie at July 18, 2008 1:08 PM

He's goign to Germany to find out...how to build a powerful, strong and well-funded army? Doesn't he know who won WWII?

"I really hope Obama wins if only because right wingers will be mad for 8 years."

"Obama is good. USA needs a black president."

AQS: I understand your sentiment because I have been able to enjoy watching the left squirm and delude themselves for 8 yrs that all hell has broken loose. The imagination of leftards is far more scary than anything righties could ever hope to pull off in reality. McCain will win in November and the left will cry and call foul for the next 4 yrs and blow it again in 2012(more fun for me).

Don't be so antagonistic when you comment, there is no need, we have shared goals even though we (west) don't like you(Quebec). The average Joe out west would love to see Quebec go, in fact the average westerner despises Quebecers (and Ontarians) so much that we will end up leaving ourselves.

Surely as a leftard you must understand the concept of working with those whom you hate or disagree with to get what you want. The ends justify the means always for leftards, that is why feminists support the political parties that support radical islam, the ends justify the means.

Actually Blank, Germany did have a standing army when the Nazis took power. It was the 100,000 man Reichsheer army, limited in size and power by the treaty of Versailles.

The SA was large and eager, but they still needed the backbone of the army and it's supply of military hardware to maintain a semblance of military cohesion. It was the same military, who provided the SS with the necessary weapons and vehicles to dispose of Röhm, and most of the higher leadership of the SA during the night of the long knives (actually an almost three week period..)

The SS was not formed after the Röhm purge, but had its roots in the party as far back as 1923-25 with a small detachment that guarded Hitler at rallies.

Yes, Hitler was loathed by the army high command, and by political elites, because they felt that they could control him.How wrong they were. However, in the end, Hitler needed the army more than the SA if he was to control Germany, and actively courted it, whilst distancing himself from the SA.

As has been mentioned before here, Hitler's Nazi party used the apparatus of the state to maintain power and control, to include all the excesses of the concentration camps and the holocaust

All one can say is if this is the best in America, for a visionary we are all in deep doo doo. It still remains to be seen if we can crawl out of the totalitarianism we have allowed to be fashioned in this Country. For The US to follow this faux-Messiah, will be a major calamity. Its obvious he hasn’t a clue back home how things work or there agencies, what about other Countries? I am starting to shiver just thinking about it.

I thought I would grow old in a slowly declining West. Instead I get the kwiki mart to hell ride ,towards total collapse of our civil liberties or any hope of true progress for the human race at all in the near future. All I see coming is a big war. Social wars, & the dissolution of the Canada’s.
At this stage its hard to see any relief in sight. When you have a President who does not even know you have a domestic police force called the FBI, your not to smart. Hell even I know it plus the ATF, & only the good Lord has a idea on how many like NSA.

Maybe "Palace Guard" hasn't been trademarked in the US yet.

I picture the uniforms coming right out of a Janet Jackson video?
Is it wrong to want to see Obambo win just to see the cool moonwalk marching thing those homies would do?
