Here's A Job For A Nice Jewish Photoshopper! (updated/bumped)

Update - Speculation across the blogosphere that the whole exercise was a fake, looks to have been borne out: IRAN MISSILE TEST BLUFF: OLD ROCKETS, BOGUS VIDEO (Drudge citing NYT sources) developing....

Breaking! New images!

(Original post continues below)

"So I told you this morning about how Iran made its missile test photos look more impressive by adding another missile using the magic of Photoshop. Whatever, we can do better than that. You want to impress us, Iran? Let's see some serious tech power. We'll help. Your challege, Gizmodians, is to use Photoshop to create some sweet Iranian propaganda, showing their technological advancements that are heretofore unseen."

It's even possible there was no missile test and these are just taken from some test in some other country.

In the Middle East, photos are doctored all the time. There is a site on the net about it. Once guy has been a dead Palestinian in numerous photos. Then there is the little Muslims boy who supposedly gets shot in his dad's arms. There is no blood and the gunshot smoke is coming from the wrong direction making it an obvious hoax.

Check out www.jihadwatch.org, within Islam deception is all part of war.

It turns out the original photo that was doctored was a year old or more.

Anyone got a copy of the cartoon from years ago with a camel with a SCUD in it's mouth?

I'd like to have I'mawhackjob being the hammer swinger.

No...not "that" hammer.

For shame Kate!! Linking to the Times when it was Charles at LGF that broke this one.

Don; "within Islam deception is all part of war.". Islam is not the founder of this principle, only a copycat. The first writings come from the Bible and then from Sun Tsu.

What the ultimate response from Israel and the US is going to be won't require any photo alteration.

Posted by: Gord Tulk at July 10, 2008 11:36 PM

These Iranian guys are setting themselves up to get smashed - how stupid can they be.

One of the unreported outcomes of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is that the US has now become much more dominating militarily (and technologically) then ever before (which really scares the Russians and Chinese btw).

The Brits got captured by the Iranian Navy and acted like a bunch of sucks. When the Iranians tried to play some games with an American destroyer - the destroyer went right at them and it was locked and loaded - the Iranians hightailed it out of there in a hurry - lucky them.

Iran is fooling around with the wrong guys.

"For shame Kate!! Linking to the Times when it was Charles at LGF that broke this one."

C'mon man, only God knows everything and is everywhere all the time. You have to admit, Kate comes pretty close.

Keep attacking the messenger like good little useful idiot while the Iranians prepare to nuke Isreal.

me thinks these fools (ruskies, china & Iran) are still a little perplexed that the Isrealis "just" flew thier USA made planes rite past the Syrian's Russian made radars and blew up their nuke facility:-))))

Has anyone else seen the punchline in the movie Deterrence?

Posted by: PiperPaul at July 11, 2008 12:53 AM

Iran, another ME military joke. With the exception of the joos, our local boy scout troop could kick the ass of any ME military.

One only has to look at the track record of any arab army to see what we are dealing with here.

Bluster and propaganda, yet, at the end of the day, hands in the air, crying like little babies.

There is a reason these f@#$er's use their children and retards as homicide bombers.

THEY ARE ALL COWARDS, WE WILL DEFEAT THEM IN THE END, BECAUSE IT IS OUR BEER AND PORK THAT MAKE US SUPERIOR!

Oh ya, and our all volunteer military!!!!!

Posted by: kingstonlad at July 11, 2008 6:42 AM

The blogosphere broke this story. Not the MSM. To the blogs, kids!

Anyone wanna play Asteroids?

Posted by: shaken at July 11, 2008 7:01 AM

Kingstonlad, the Iranian military may be wusses, but more importantly, their political and religious leaders are ABSOLUTELY INSANE! They TRULY believe that this is the government of the 12th Imam and they fully intend to bring about Armageddon.

It's the end of the world, as we know it.

Posted by: Eeyore at July 11, 2008 7:17 AM

Well, considering that Iran is supplying the Taliban, which is resulting in the deaths of Canadian soldiers, I say......BRING IT ON!

Let's finish this business once and for all.....

DECLARE WAR ON IRAN!

Posted by: kingstonlad at July 11, 2008 7:28 AM

Silly me I posted an image with 3 rockets & never saw the one with 4 til told it was a hoax, LOL.

"Check out www.jihadwatch.org, within Islam deception is all part of war."

Normandy was a flank attack, as was Hitlers feint into Holland before popping across at Sedan.

Doesn't the US have birds up who can confirm this isn't true?

Posted by: dinosaur at July 11, 2008 9:44 AM

The NSA monitored the whole thing. It appears there were not 2 separate launches, only one.
The failed rocket was launched early the next day after repairs were made to it. A total of 4 were launched during the entire exercise. The NSA had a ringside seat the whole time. They aren't disclosing details though.

Posted by: AtlanticJim at July 11, 2008 10:26 AM

flyboy - that 'incident' has no political left or right agendas; it's trivial and personal. It bears no relation to the important fact of doctoring a photo to show the military capacity of an enemy nation.

By all means, retain your hatred of 'the right' but try to provide us with valid analogies.

So long as they hit them hard from the air and don't try "regime change" by putting boots on the ground, I say smash the nutters.

I will say that Iran is majority secular and that the vast majority of people there want the nutters gone. The challenge is that not too many people want a foreign government (never mind traditional enemy) doing the job.

"seems ok when righties do it eh?"

how's about a little research first flyboy ?

Warwick, yes this is the argument for hitting the Revolutionary Guard, or whatever it is called, as it is the organisation supporting Sadi in iraq and Hezbollah and Hamas and el Presidente himself.

Posted by: RW at July 11, 2008 7:02 PM

This displays Iran's weaknes, but only to foreigners. Internally in Iran, the ignorant masses will be impressede. The educated masses will see through it but know they will be taken out back at midnight if they call it.

Posted by: Paula at July 11, 2008 7:08 PM

This was a good catch, someone would make a good CIA information annalist. This why people more & more don't trust the MSM. No real fact checking or accounting for culture & Religion. There just not paranoid enough to see the some folks really want to kill you or lie for evil reasons. Hey, what’s a little misdirection between Nations ?

The Blogsphere gets kupee doll for this one.

Posted by: Revnant Dream at July 11, 2008 7:25 PM

Ahem.

Point A. Iranians are not arabs.

Not Ethnically nor (Other than islam) culturally. Historically, almost every time they went up against Arabs they kicked posterior and took names.

Point B. In a straight ahead fight they (the Iranians) know they would get creamed, pureed and shat out if they went head to head withhe US Armed forces. They saw Iraq, even if they were 300% better it'd still be no contest .

BUT

That's not their goal. Their goal isn't to goad the US into war ( the US, by the way is hurting from the Iraq campaign. They need some time to rest recharge and rebuild.) but to make the cost of even a small war unbearable.

You think 140$/brl is hurting the US? (the full effects aren't even being felt yet) Imagine if the Iranians close or severely restrict the straight of Hormuz.

That IS within their power, USN not withstanding, you don't have to sink/damage many tankers before maritime insurance makes it uneconomical to enter the gulf. Oil goes through the roof, China, Japan and Europe and India start sending ambassadors to the US with very very irate notes about how "you are killing our economies you prat" AND the US ec0nomy gets massive inflation and goes into recession with 30$/gal oil, and all those other countries (incl russia) start to undermine US policy at every turn.

Oh, and the US gets huge propaganda hurt for attacking Iran too. (and you think that that the Iranians can't mount at least as decent a insurgency as the Iraqi's could? hah)

Just saying, Iran is thin ice over very deep water for the US.

Gee atwood, adjusting the contrast isn't quite the same as adding missles to the fleet. Also, I didn't hear anyone say that the attack dog photoshop was okay, even though it was obvious in jest (see the WHOLE story). A bit of difference between satire and propaganda. If that is your best example then please save your carbon shaft credits and leave the discussions to the adults. (okay, last line was a bit much, I admit).

Do the muzzies feel the same way about CATs as they do about pooches?

Posted by: OMMAG at July 11, 2008 7:56 PM

I stand corrected.

Arab, Persian, whatever. They are still maniacal cowards who encourage the use of children and mentally handicapped adults as homicide bombers to fight their battles.

All the same to me. Iran is our enemy, is providing the means to kill Canadian soldiers, and it is time to treat ALL Iranians as suspect.

If memory serves, during the Iran-Iraq war, Iran used waves of children to clear mine fields. Militarily competent or not, it's obvious that we're not dealing with a rational player. Yes, they could probably be squashed, but it will be messy, and sadly, with much collateral damage to otherwise innocent bystanders.

Something to keep in mind though: if Iran is working on a bomb, one day they will have to test it. If they don't, and lob one at Israel that lands with the dull thud of dropped side of bacon on a ceramic floor, the Joooos just might all die of laughter. I can't see how they are going to photoshop the seismic waves.

I believe a quiet word in Iran's ear would be in order: guess what happens if you test a weapon? Of course, on that very day, every lefty troll will be silent, their mouths stuffed full of crow pie, unable to jabber on about 'peaceful use' and so forth.

Maybe for a fun photoshop exercise, we could pre-illustrate Iran post-test. I've started with a blank canvas, and have finished my version. Never lifted a pixel, either.

Posted by: shaken at July 11, 2008 8:29 PM

At the beginning of the hostage situation in Iran in 1979 I saw an interview with a British woman who'd spent many years in Iran. She explained that Iranian males are raised in a fashion that makes them pretty much unable to have rational thoughts.

Male children are led to believe they have absolutely no boundaries, are very rarely disciplined, and never disciplined by a female.

Their social structure is pretty chaotic. If one of them decides he'd rather drive on the wrong side of the road, then every other driver has to deal with it. Lying is as natural to them as telling the truth since they have no experience with consequences.

It's no wonder they are so easily controlled by the theocracy. It's the only order they ever know in their entire lives. It also promises to keep them a few steps above females.

I think I see the source of many serious societal problems right there.

I hear the the French conglamorate AEROSPATIALE has a missle that's so accurate, it can hit a Camel's anus at 50 Km. No shit!! REALLY!! It can pinpoint a target the size of a dime at that distance!! And you're worried about Iranians! Only one problem. The French don't like Jews much more than they like Iranians! If you like high tech weapons, check out Aerospatiale's web site!

Poor ol' Wily E. Coyote is rendered in Palestinian green... but the Iranian aren't arabs, and indeed are despised thoroughly by them.

Fred, your wrong, the onyl way the Iranians could stop traffic in the straights of Homuz is by walking across US aircraft carrier decks.

Fred, your wrong, the only way the Iranians could stop traffic in the straights of Homuz is by walking across US aircraft carrier decks.

BTW Yes, the Iranians are Indo-Europeans. And had a very rich culture until the Arabs invaded and forced islam upon them. Still, some of the old civilization survived.

The Iranian New Year is in fact a Zoroastrian (old Iranian religion) festival and it really p*sses off the mullahs that the people still celebrate it. I put the Iranians down to become the first mass apostate group when the mullahs fall.

Posted by: RW at July 12, 2008 2:19 PM

Shaken,

I believe a quiet word in Iran's ear would be in order: guess what happens if you test a weapon?

I am certain they have been whispered very loudly in their ear. They are still going ahead with their plan and will cross the Rubicon when they come to it. It all depends upon how insanely messianic these people really are about the 12th Imam.

Posted by: RW at July 12, 2008 2:26 PM

If only Ahmadinejad and the mullahs were to replace the coyote holding the umbrella ...

How do you solve a problem like Iran? Have the people to overthrow the unpopular regime.
