Fascist versus Fascist

Tony Blair's Britain has arrived on our shores ... and penetrated all the way to socialist Manitoba.

From Cjunk:

So, if the parents of a child have extreme political views ... then that child is to be permanently removed from the home. Indian-haters, Muslim-haters, Conservative-haters, Che Guevara-lovers, Racists, Sexists, Communists, Christian-haters, Scientologists, Sikh extremists, pot-activists, nudists, Zionists, Fundamentalist Muslims, homophobes, extreme animal rights activists ... hide your kids.

Richard:

Who's next? Are Muslim children going to be removed from their homes because they're taught that the Koran sez it's ok to have sex with 9 year olds? Christian kids? How about kids from capitalist families?

I've never been a big fan of Ezra - don't really like him all that much but, his performance with that pompous ass, Rosenthal has "won my heart". How can we get Ezra nominated for an Order of Canada?

Maybe we could start by sending the chickenhawk to Afstan.

Posted by: manny at July 6, 2008 6:17 PM

Not to worry Cjunk. It's just the facist NDP trying to outdo the facist Liebs. Nothing good comes out of Manitoba anyways. Hell. Their socialist record is worse the Saskabush's!!
Besides,I blame it all on AGW/BushMchimpyHitler.

Ezra is absolutely brilliant, but he should have seized on one slip that Rosenthol made: 'It should be illegal for a child to wear a symbol of hatred'.
That's not the most important slip of logic that he admitted, but still pretty significant.

The 'pompous Toronto lawyer who is a liberal' prosecutes something that 'should be illegal'. I must say: how typical!

Posted by: Aaron at July 6, 2008 6:30 PM

Hilarious! Worth the time watch it.

I remember the time when kids that drew (hindu symbols) or whatever, or wore clothing that had slogans not appropriate for a learning environment were sent home with a nastygram for the parents. Now the nanny state jumps in without any (official) investigation? Pretty sad state of affairs.

I truly did love the "pompous arrogant toronto lawyer" smackdown though. Ezera is nothing but consistent on his freedom of speech, even if it supports a disgusting but lawful view.

btw, rosenthaul has defended more than his fair share of shadey types. No troubles taking their money.

Anyways, Ezra -- excellent arguments, terrible, terrible shirt.

Posted by: Yukon Gold at July 6, 2008 6:57 PM

I have some beautiful old editions of Rudyard Kipling works on my shelves, and the swastikas on them are not "universal symbols of hatred."

Why do we have to let rotten people hijack harmless or even good things to their purpose? So many things are coming not to mean what they once did. One of the worst areas for this is in the area of rights, where the very term "right" has come to mean an entitlement.

Posted by: GreyOne40 at July 6, 2008 7:04 PM

The state is going to remediate the "emotional well being" of children by taking them away from their parents? Taking them AWAY from their PARENTS!? Government employees are going to determine the emotional well being of children?

The school, which in my view has every right to set dress and appearance codes, should simply tell the parents their kid won't be permitted to return to the classroom until it's removed or covered. As a hard core libertarian I have no problem with this, just as I have no issue with prohibiting young pre-pubescent girls from wearing whore costumes in the classroom or boys exhibiting butt-cracks.

I too have mixed feeling about Ezra. The text at the end of the clip is a hit hyprocitical in light of his personal attack on the lawyer which is quite a bit stronger than the lawyer's standard liberal-paternalistic advice about getting counselling.

When you're fighting the zeitgeist you gotta be a bit more even-tempered if you want to win people over. I fear Ezra re-wins over the already won over.

January 1, 2015: Inspite of a cross country uproar, Canada's latest federal law passed by the Liberals last fall, kicks in today, requiring all couples to undergo a 'parental suitability evaluation'. Supporters say the law is the only way to stomp out hatred. Those opposed denounce the law because of what they say amounts to delving into the political beliefs of the parents and that it is completely ineffective and unfair due to the fact that foreign born couples classed as minorities are exempt from the law so as not to impede immigration. The Prime Minister defended the law today citing the opponents are mainly from 'out of mainstream opinion'. He went on to state how important this law is for Canada and that it is a model for the world. UN Secretary General Mohammad Mohammad praised Canada in a speech today, saying "Canada is a world leader in wiping out hatred. We urge all western nations to follow suit". The Secretary General is on his way today to mediate a cease fire between Hezbollah, Hamas, Fatah and Israel after the devastating attack last week that destroyed one small Israeli city.

Liberalism must always end up at the barrel of a gun. How else could the government make individuals or society act against their own individual or even collective self-interests?

After watching that clip, I think this growing ideological culture war is going to come to a lot of shooting at some point. You know, a good old fashioned civil war.

I has happened many times before and it can happen again.

These are not issues that can be debated to a logical conclusion because there is little logic coming from the fascist kid Nappers who are running the horrid nanny sate that used to be Canada.

I have noted in my long life that kids rarely take on their parents values anyway. They like to do the opposite. That's how we got hippies isn't it?

And look what the hippies have given us ... political correctness, multiculturalism, nanny-statism, Big time welfare, a drug culture, the CHRC and pretty much everything that is wrong with our society today.

Has anybody raised the obvious point that some are extremely offended by a peace symbol for a variety of reasons and would find a child adorned with one equally "offensive?"

How about one of those disgusting Che Guevara t-shirts? But this isn't just about the sacred right not to be offended, is it?

It must have felt like a sucker punch to listen to that drivel about "I hope your wife's watching and gets you counselling."

Good for Levant. He did better than he thinks he did.

Posted by: Drained Brain at July 6, 2008 7:49 PM

Ezra Levant has just made the same point I did just above about children adorned with "leftist" symbols, right down to the Che shirt. Brilliant fellow!

Posted by: Drained Brain at July 6, 2008 7:54 PM

In the Occupation following WWII did we remove Germany's children from their Nazi parents, hell no, because as repugnaant as their parents political views were making children of ideologically incorrect parents wards of the state was more repugnant. We aren't fascists. Fascists do that.

Eradicating bad ideas in a free society is easy, shame, reason and an open debate are great cures to stupid ideas, but, that's if a society has the confidence and freedom to apply those measures. We don't need no stinking tribunals or lefty thought police to arbitrate which kids become wards of the the state's correct thinking list.

The state of Texas social worker zealots were slapped down by the courts after they decided to remove all of a religious cult's kids recently as they should have been. In that and this scenerio the dumb social workers, and it's now a de facto dumb degree, a product of the lefty dumbing down of higher education, acted as agents of the state. Like the Nanny State cops in Britain, the left are masters of finding the stupid to carry out their agends.

Rosenthal is a fascist weasel. And, typical, you can bet he nor the lefty Nanny State minions would ever move to strip non-whites of their blatant anti-white hate symbols.

Ouch! To suggest that Ezra's wife get him counselling!

The lawyer deserved a smackdown for that alone.

The largest impact for the young children, who are very young, will come from that removal from their own home.

And there was not one sense of that coming from this Rosenthal.

On the shirt....I think Ezra was into Calgary Stampede events at the time of the interview.

Don't let Rosenthal anywhere near that entertainment venue.

Heck, would any farm kid be safe from a Rosenthal removal plan, with all that happens with the operation of a farm or rodeo?

Sort of helps to see how residential schools got started, believing most parents did not know how to raise and love their children best.

Ezra has been under fire for a long while now.

There is no surprise that he is less than tender with the 'other side'.

Posted by: BB at July 6, 2008 8:21 PM

Mr. Rosenthal looks a little excitable there, eh? I don't believe I'd trust that guy with live ammo at the range. Nuh uh. Too twitchy.

Ezra's right of course. Of course its bullsh1t for the little kid to show up at school with a swastika,of course its bullsh1t to be a white supremest in the first place. But it isn't -illegal-, and it isn't -dangerous-. Distasteful, distressing, possibly an outrage, but not physically dangerous. The child seems to be in no physical danger, nor do the child's classmates.

A state institution trying to take somebody's kid away because they have objectionable beliefs? That's frickin' terrifying. Taking your kids? People are willing to die over stuff like that. That's civil war material.

It takes a lot to get me to feel anything more than contempt for the White Power crowd, but this is doing it. You can't take a guy's kid away because he's a jerk and believes stupid things.

I wonder if Mr. Rosenthal has the guts to be number one man through the door when the CPS goes to snatch this kid? Let me be the first to say, I strongly doubt it. He's a pencil neck.

Posted by: The Phantom at July 6, 2008 8:51 PM

Seems that there is a lot of intolerance towards the white race....... I see a CHRC complaint in the future......

Posted by: Trev at July 6, 2008 9:08 PM

So, Mr. Rosenthal, I suppose you'd have NO problem with residential schools, after all, using the wisdom of government in that era, Indian children had to be removed from the influence of their "savage/heathen parents to be forcibly civilized.

While it is clearly questionable to have an a$$hole parent to tattoo anything on their little ones (which should be prohibited in the first place), the lawyer from Toronto is of course out of line, to have a say what parents should talk with children about.
Sheer force of common decency and general disapproval should be enough to calm the idiots on both sides.
There are plenty of examples, of children having different opinion from the parents. This is actually almost a law of nature. Talking here, from own experience.
Due to influence of schools and other assorted institutions of diktat, there is no chance that a kid today would come out as anything as a socialist, though come to think of it, there is not much of a distance to the ‘national’ added to it.

"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you."

Rosenthal's attack was simply a gratuitous debating ploy to put Ezra on the defensive — particularly the part about Ezra's wife somehow being the moral barometer for Ezra.  When I went to law school, I knew too many "Rosenthals" in the making.

Keep Rosenthal back in T.O.  Central Canada deserves more like him.

From Mr. Rosenthal:

"They allowed their child to go out with an emblem on her which ... represented a group which ... murdered twelve million people. If that's not a kid in need of protection, I don't know what is."

That's funny, I know what a kid in need of protection is. A child whose parents have been physically abusing him is in need of protection. A child whose parents don't provide minimum standards of sanitation in the home is in need of protection. A child whose parents don't feed him is in need of protection. I could go on. The fact that a child's parents hold values that, in my opinion, are evil is not a child in need of protection. Law should be directed to behavior, not thoughts.

Posted by: Silicon Valley Jim at July 6, 2008 9:51 PM

Childred are used for political purposes all the time. Every political advertisement by a political party that uses children would have to be suspect.

When has an eco-creep outfit not put children out front in one of its propaganda pieces? Sending your child to school wearing a World Wackjob Fund tee-shirt could get them beaten up, should Child and Family Services step in for that?

On another but similar note, you don't have to preach any political philosphy to children. Children pick up on your actions, thoughts and deeds quite well on their own.

No matter how hard you may try to hide it from them, your child will be your carbon copy even when you think they became your exact opposite.

Did Mom know what was going on?Was she so pissed that she redrew the swastika out of spite? Was Mom wrong? Of course.

However, where exactly in the teachers union handbook does it state that they are allowed to physically contact 7 year olds if they are sporting something that teachers disagree with?
By washing the kid's arm without contacting the parents and trying to find a amicable solution the teacher became a self annointed judge ,jury and executioneer.
By calling the police the following day when teach saw that the decision that was meted out the previous day had been challenged is indicative of someone who has zero common sense and not a shred of empathy for students in their care.It was more important for the teacher not have her moral indignation and authority challenged than to deal with a problem in an adult way.
The teacher should have been charged with abuse.

Remember, amongst many Progressives there is no difference between a white supremacist and a homophobe. In the UK, traditional Christians who teach that homosexuality is a sin are not allowed to foster children. In Germany, you can not home school your children and must therefore submit them to pro-gay propaganda.

Make no mistake, if white supremicists have their children taken, in Canada it is in the realm of possibility that traditional Christians will one day have their children taken. If Progressives can not distinguish between the two beliefs and they gain sufficient power, they start taking children. They will do it because in their view any child could be a potential gay person who needs to be liberated from abusive Christian parents who will not welcome the child's sexuality.

Regardless of this mothers politics, she must be defended or things could get really ugly in Canada in a decade or two. I am a Catholic and the first time in my life I've seriously contemplated that Roman Catholics may need to flee Christian persecution in Canada. We are only a year or two away from priests who rightly teach that homosexuality is a sin are thrown in jail.

One day a kid will go to school with an anti-gay t-shirt and the government will try to take him away from his parents.

Ezra,

You missed a huge opportunity with the Rosenthal interview. What would he think of a young Jewish boy wearing the Star of David around his neck? For many "progressives" that's a symbol of the terrible Israeli's wreaking terror on the hapless Palestinians.

Does a seven year old boy inherently know Judeaism, or is he taught by his parents? Should he be pulled out of his family the next time someone complains about the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people?

I would have loved to have seen Rosenthal's reaction to that one...

Rosenthal was brought in a ringer to take on Ezra, IMO, and he was carried out of the proverbial ring feet first. It appeared that from the outset he didn't believe he couldn't win the argument so he chose to unleash a startling, specious ad hominem argument couched in a display of moral outrage. The gambit directly backfired because it showed the Ezra's assessment of the characteristics of that tribe who would rule everyone else, by dint of their own perceived holier-than-thou-ness has been spot on.

They assert the superiority of their personal politics over another, and they wish to transfer this as force into the corporeal realm of others. Ezra called him on that, in effect. It's stark, but there it is.

I just want to say, I know that not everyone likes Ezra, apparently, but I really hope that conservatives and libertarians and Christians and reasonable centrists appreciate his value. There are some truly important struggles going on at this point in our history that will not only have profound repercussion for a long time, but from which there may be no return. The proverbial fork in the road. Correct me if I'm wrong, someone, but I don't think we've seen his like before in such forums. In terms of calling BS, sticking up for liberty and freedom of speech in the face of political correctness, and and taking on Lib culture full-tilt, he's been an absolute boon.

You have to give CTV credit too for their willingness to allow the debates that have been going on in this country for a long time, and which are fundamental to us as Canadians to finally make it to air. CTV is in danger of wiping out default-setting anachronism CBC, by virtue of CTV being the more real and relevant and therefore more entertaining televised news media.

Some refer to them as "trolls". I prefer the term "baiter". There are several "baiters" posting comments, looking for reactions. When the junior "baiters" fail to reach the desired response, it's sometimes necessary to bring in the "master baiter". This person has more experience in stimulating other posters into a frenzied response. It is not unusual for the "master baiter" to achieve a climax of responses that might actually make a huge mess of a particular site.

I suggest that all posters resist the urge to respond to the "master baiter", no matter how tempting it might be to unload on him.

So if a kid's parents dress the boy up like a girl and send him to school that's OK with everyone? Just trying to figure out where the line is.

The Pompous Toronto Lawyer had the same glazed eye and weaseley look to him as the HRC Chairman that debated Steyn and Ezra at the Journalist Assn. debate.

Like all dangerous fanatics, they believe what they're doing is the right thing to do.

John V you might very well have a point.

Posted by: A_ziggen at July 7, 2008 4:57 AM

A_ziggen - here, here! LOL, I had to skip those posts; they weren't readable.

I think mothers that dress their little girls up like hookers for those kiddie beauty pageants are disgusting, but should that be considered abusive by the government - NO!

What about those Texas polygamists? The authorities had one complaint regarding the alleged abuse of one child, so they rounded up ALL the kids! That was incredible!

If the child's needs are being met - food, clothing, shelter AND there are no indications of physical abuse then the thought police should mind their own bloody business!

The swastika thing is digusting, but how is it any more offensive than what this father is doing to his daughter:
http://ezralevant.com/2008/07/more-thoughts-on-politicallysa.html

Yet, this moonbat father is not considered abusive!

The response to this whole situation should have been the school principal writing a letter to the parent indicating that such a symbol was unacceptable to the school and if the child showed up at school with it again, he/she would be sent home. However school principals don't want to take action on anything and like many people would prefer to shift the responsibility onto someone else (in this case social workers). Or if they wanted to be progressive this could have been a teaching moment (that's teacher talk) to review the history of the symbol and its most recent use (Nazi and WWII) - however that would mean that teachers would actually have to find out information that is probably not included in the curriculum (which is beyond the skills for most teachers).

Rosenthal: Commandant of Re-Education Boot Camp for Canadian Parents Who Don't Think Like He Does.

Rosenthal's stand is absolutely ludicrous which, unfortunately, in the dystopian Deranged Dominion of Canada, doesn't disqualify him from a pulpit in the MSM from which to spew his skewed screeds.

My father and grandfathers risked their lives in two world wars to defend the pseudo-rights of the state to interfere with families, according to left-wing, moonbat lawyers like Rosental?

One of my favourite movie lines of all time: "One night I'm going to come to where you're sleeping, and I'm going to cut your throat. Don't tell me how to raise my family"

If anyone ever took my kids, it isn't me they'd have to fear most. I guarantee at least one of them would hurt someone and escape back to me.

I agree with others that the school may take measures up to (including) expulsion for not following its dress code. The involvement of the police is clearly crossing a line.

.... and people still ask us why we home-school.

Listening to haye/new moralize on behalf of Mohammad is like listening to Squeeky Fromme moralize on behalf of Charles Manson, or Goebbels moralize on behalf of Hitler.

Pathetic.

I'm just waiting for the whole HRC thing to focus entirely on the monster and child molester, Mohammad - his life, actions and sayings - and the hate literature, otherwise known as the Quran. Not to mention the commands to kill, rape and enslave non-muslims throughout the Islamic trilogy.

With mountains of evidence proving it throughout history to the present, it hardly needs, "likely to incite..."

Perhaps the HRC's need to be infiltrated and used to confront and abolish an ideology of real evil directed against all humanity.

If one might judge Rosenthal by his name, he's Jewish. So to be called out by another self-proclaimed Jew and lawyer and then dismissed as a "pompous Toronto lawyer" must have been wonderfully irritating. But the best part is that his moral authority, (I'm Jewish so therefore I can label Swastika as an emblem of hate [that can never be used again. No repurposing or reclaiming allowed.]), leaked out on the studio floor.

God bless Canada for the clarity of its political confrontations. Or Kate for her editing. Or both.

let me think

if the parents belong to prostitute you said in above they dress child half naked revealing cloth to know his or her mom is doing porn or etc

if the parent are white naxi racist they them nazi sign

if the parenst are jewish put mohamad with bomb to head of Muslim and all start laughing as Ezra did

if the parnest are terroirst can be Muslim irish iRA or mofia rusis or mafia Italins they can send them with hate words and b and f words and /or treat people

if parenst as I heard some gay are adopt the child they drss boy the gilr and girl the boy as show parnet are lesbian or gay

such the multicultureim
the problmes here we can made enviroment to trut the kids not thier children in Canada

and having said that if we say childrend are innocent

then if we can not trust polticial view of parents how we can stop political view of board of education and teacher out of mark children not with where their prent come from and so
on

then it ocme to my point saying when canada has
jerk symptums and hate ful sysptome this like cancer can spread and corrupted too many places and include scholol and teachers and
how can childrenc get safe as world war now
most victim are children are suffeirng of all
USA embargo to middle east not the adult

then how to start and who to put the point to

It is too early to put blam or arrest parnet or take childrne from parent unless we have law and educated law for few month then start give some nots then start made more seriously
you can made important issue to fun of media tonot rspect law or act so funny

the funny thing the ezra is jewish and lawyer in Toroto is jewish and who ever won still jewish are woining saying not bring antijewish out while they jewihs still doing so much hate spreading among Muslim

the most problmes herre we have need to system and correc system this from top to bottom and botoom to top to get fix now

or if we ignore it like parent ignore children we endager safty of children I really not like people some comment like lamb come and follow bad wording jsut because previosu post started
such as most patitic person as I said above noting was pathatic except Irwin daisy

who is jewish and still haed of jewish directore of Canadian congerss jewish communitey just become Muslim as we saw this news in Ezra still Irwin Daisy is igonore intentiaonly all the fact
as god cover their eyes and not see the truth if they see the truth they hide and deny it

god give so many way to open people eys and heart and brain cautght it from sending prophet from the holy books from sign and histroy we are seeing what happend in past but people still deny all facts intentionally this proces need to done step by step to not hurt children or parents feeling this method take trust people to govements rules

Britain is officially breaking new ground in loony tune land.

"Toddlers who say "yuck" when given flavorful foreign food may be exhibiting racist behavior, a British government-sponsored organization says."

I couldn't make this up, its on Breitbart.
www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=upiUPI-20080707-122008-1071&show_article=1

The London-based National Children's Bureau released a 366-page guide counseling adults on recognizing racist behavior in young children, The Telegraph reported Monday.

"The guide, titled Young Children and Racial Justice, warns adults that babies must also be included in the effort to eliminate racism because they have the ability to "recognize different people in their lives." The bureau says to be aware of children who "react negatively to a culinary tradition other than their own by saying 'yuck'." "Racist incidents among children in early years settings tend to be around name-calling, casual thoughtless comments and peer group relationships," the guide says. Staff members are advised not to ignore racist actions and to condemn them when they occur."

So you eeeeevile racist parents of picky eaters, beware! CPS may be kicking down your door because one of your toddlers said "yuck!" at a nice curry or lovely Sezchuan dish offered at school.

Anybody still in the dark about that whole gun control thing? Hmmmn?

It would appear they are serious. Truly, it is not possible to apply satire to the Left. There is no outrage they will not embrace, given a little time.

Tax cut now please. Let the bastards spend their -own- money.

you scare me--but I realize that is your right to think the way you do--disturbing as it may be..There Will Be Blood--great book and movie but the "parent" in that, Daniel Plainview, was anything but a good parent

Ezra did well here again but he should have let Rosenthal speak--the more he talks, the scarier he gets.

That being said, lets face it-there are so many people out there that shouldn't be parents. Yes, they have the right to breed and reproduce but just because you can doesn't mean you should. I also will never understand the parents out there that are trying to be their kids best friends. I have seen 10 year old girls with t shirts that say "Juicy" or "Save a horse, ride a cowboy" Nice...did your mother get that for you?? How grand. Anyone can be a mother or a father, it is hard work to be a parent.

Keep in mind this lawyer is the pool the liberals draw from for candidates and may be making policy some day. A symbol is only a symbol and as correctly noted might represent different things to different groups of people.
A cross may hold a similar meaning to women persecuted as witches. A greedy, power hungry sociopath reeking mayhem would be the problem.
I give Ezra two thumbs up.

I think the "master baiter" has shown himself at last. It took a bit of coaxing, but I knew he'd have trouble faking bad grammar much longer.

Do a lot of people scare you, him? That's probably a good thing because you sound like a teacher to me.

It wasn't just children's aid at fault here. These teachers are getting way too pushy about how we raise our kids. They think the education system is all about them. Thank God my youngest graduated this year. The public school system is a disgusting mess. I found out recently that some provinces allow teachers to force kids onto Ritalin. That's just way too much power.

Posted by: dp at July 7, 2008 6:34 PM

Well him, would your "people who shouldn't be parents" include the Leftist geniuses who produced the "Young Children and Racial Justice" guide? I'd ban people like that from coming within 100 yards of a child, myself. Even their own.

This is a free country, buddy. There is no "should" here. Some people -are- parents, that's how it is. It is up to -them- how they do it, nobody else. You don't approve? That would be your problem for you to wrestle with privately. And silently please, if you can.

Otherwise what we have here is a not-free country. There is no middle ground. Pick a side.

SheilaT,
You have that right! Texas was right to contain a possible violent first encounter, but then violated the constitutional rights of every Women & Child by holding them like cattle. (The men stayed free)

We have yet to hear the last of that case... millions of taxpayers money in damages & the guilty will walk away. Bad PR for the Mormans & the a-holes practicing Law & "Rights" Experts

Bet Roe Vs Wade felt a sigh of relief when the appellate Court over ruled that moronic Judge that followed the MSM.. She may become a SC Justice.

Phantom

So true--we are blessed to live in a free country and are free to live how we please and yes, raise our children how we see fit.

We are also all entitled to express our opinion--so even though I disagree with you, I would not be so arrogant to ask you not to say what is on your mind.

and dp--I agree many teachers are abusing their "power" and let's not even get into the way they grade our children these days. However, too many working parents are buying their children toys, cellphones and other crap to make up for the time they should be spending with them. There are also too many parents who have no clue what their children are learning in school and what's even scarier, they don't care.

Yeeessss..Phantom...I disagree with that and yeesssss..I have a right to say it out loud.

So you may want to look the other way or hum quietly to yourself.
